Htc keyboard with t9 phonepad is possible on motorola droid?
if someone ports it over yeah.
I believe you can install it without problems. They do talk about it on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567294&page=19 . The only problem is that the keyboard doesn't stretch across the screen in landscape mode.

Doesn't require porting, it's not tied in to the HTC frameworks. All you need to do is push the apk (and clicker) to /data, which doesnt require a rooted phone. Only problem is it's designed for HVGA (320x480, 480x320) not WVGA used on the droid (854x480, 480x854) so there are going to be graphical itches.

Just posted some pics of my mytouch
Great - perhaps you could tell us how you did it and where you got the files from?

And how did you accomplish that, Chuco? Please enlighten us!
you download appmanager, download the htc_ime.apk from the forum put it on your sd card and use appmanager to install from sd....
I got this working using the files and the instructions on Haykuro's blog:
http://haykuro.theiphoneproject.org/?p=213
After the phone restarts, open messages, go to a new message, do a long press in the text input box and when the option appears select 'input method' - 'touch input'
Massive improvement on the stock Android keyboard!
NICE! This is freaking sweet... it'll definitely make waiting for root more bearable since this was one of the apk that i wanted in the myTouch
Thank you for the heads up!
+1.. Just did this on my G1 & will be doing it on my mytouch monday before anything else.. I love the compact qwerty..
How is this compared to better keyboard or touchpal??
cant wait until i get my touch, in for when it finally arrives.

Well HTC_IME has 3 types of keyboards... regular QWERTY, Compact QWERTY (Like the ones on the BB Pearl) and t9.
I have some screen shot of it on my G1 here
As far as better keyboard, its still the same keyboard found in cupcake just skinned and its similar to touchpal but touchpal has a ton more options. hope this helps
thank you that did help.
i have to disagree i find that the htc keyboard to find my words way better than the stock android i type faster on this than on my blackberry

the htc keyboard is definitely better.. stock is lackluster.. Nothing wrong with it, but its not good either..
im using appmanager to install the htc_ime.apk bt its not working... any suggestions?? im using my MyTouch
Is it not letting you install? Giving you an error? Are you changing the touch input after you install it?
it says its nstalled but when i try to change the touch input there isnt another option other than "android keyboard"

Damn you for getting your myTouch early gotta wait 1 more week but when your on your sms screen try holding down the text input area, click on "Input Method" and you should have 2 options "Android keyboard" and "Touch Input" click on Touch Input and you should have HTC_IME instead. I know I don't have my myTouch yet but I think that how it is if you have installed.
Did you try rebooting?
On another note: Anybody notice that the htc keyboard is a resource hog? Can't use while I'm listening to music.
Android double post ftw.
It posts twice, because it's twice as nice. :-D
I am running darchstars AOSP2.1 ROM and I have two questions for any enterprising devs, if they have time or can tell me the way to do it.
1)I went from using the stock keyboard to betterkeyboard back to the HTC keyboard. In better keyboard you can adjust the vibration for each keypress to be short, is there a way I can change the HTC keyboard to that as well? I'm not afraid of the command line, but I have no idea where I might start with this.
2)I much prefer the HTC dialer app, with the smart dialing. Is there a way to use that instead of the stock android dialer, or a different dialer replacement that has similar functionality?
Thanks again for any responses!

Basically what you want is Gumbo Bare on 2.1?
I'm also interested in this. I'm playing around with an Odroid running AOSP 2.1, I've gotten google bits to run on it, I found a package that includes the framework etc, and works exactly like it should. Very easy to install.
Finding a similar package for senceUI would be of interest to me.
The ability to take a vanillia AOSP add any flavor I want, google bits, SenceUI, Moto Blur... or anything else would be very nice IMO. Instead of the current... I like this rom because it has.... but I wish it had..... Put it together like lego blocks.

Well, not really. I'm looking for a way to edit the HTC keyboard haptic feedback if there's a way, and to find a replacement dialer for any AOSP ROM since I personally don't like the stock one. The keyboard is a little more important to me, but I was just hoping somebody might know what I'm looking for.

Look through the 2.1 compatible MetaMorph themes.
Can anybody recommend and alternative keyboard?
I find the HTC Sense and Android keyboards awful to use. Is that just me?
Also, does anybody know of a way to flash the HTC Phone Keypad (the one for text input, not the dialer) onto a vanilla android 2.1 Hero? Or does that rely on Sense?
thnks
kie.
I would also like another alternative for the keyboard, at times it freezes and then suddenly puts several letters all at once. I would try Swype(?) but it doesn't work on 1.5

Thats what I want to know
Sorry, wrong thread!
You could try pushing this (attached file) to system/app via ADB. Not sure if it will work though (I'm guessing it won't tbh.)
Have fun
EDIT:// when you pushed it change the input msg by holding on a text input box and pressing input method.
tnx !! I'll try to install it trough astro manager.
Hi.
Anyone able to get the HTC IME.apk to install to the xtarantula build? I tried to install it but i am getting the error that i don't have an htc device lol....
...anyone have a workable apk that will install??
thanks in advance
btw, the HTC keyboard i'm referring to is similar to the winmo hd2 keyboard, the one with the directional arrows
Might not be the answer you are looking for but I have to say that the Kb u want is laggy and somehow lacking responsiveness. there are other options you could try like Smart Keyboard Pro. It has themes, which I find to be very sense-like.
About the Kb u want, it might be due to the senseless build.
You should be able to find what you want from this thread, sans the directional arrows (I've been looking for that version myself):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
just make sure to install the keyboard & clicker intended for your version of Android.

Thanks. I already was able to install the htc without the directional arrows. kinda missing the arrows though
i have the apk of the kb with arrows as well but wouldn't install as it is signed i guess.... if you come across another apk and it installs please let me know.
thanks!!
I have a G3 Hero from china which have windows mobile 6.5.
Seems to work
I miss the Touch Flo UI. Its a HVGA screen.
Is it possible to run some cab to have a touch flo?
erm could you share a backup or something?`Oo
Are you sure it`s not just a chinese clone?
Hero
yes its something from china- but seems to be the same device (also htc sync contains fitting driver)
Afaik, this is a fake, as there have been a few similar posts here about these devices and how to do a hard reset when they crash.
But to the best of my knowledge, these are pretty much eschewed by devs, and I don't think touchflo is as simple as a cab to install.
but why in the hell would someone have WM6.5 instead of any other OS ???
a fake? my post? my device?
I have it - i use it.- it works- Touch flo is nothing else the a shell ala spbmobile shell (which works perfect). I already installed two T3DF's which runs in general but doesnt shows up the right ui. Do you thing HTC can change an 3rd party os?
Anyway- I believe key points for shell and working is OS (6.5) processor (Qualcomm /arm) and screen resolution HVGA . If that fits- I see no reason why not.
But back to my question. Who have an idea which of the "hundrets" which are out there could be the working one.
You could download an All In One cab for TF2D, and skin that. I am not so sure for TF3d though. You'd need to change the xml file(s) and resize all the images, unless of course, you manage to find one already done.
After all this is done, there is still no guarantee that it will work. Afterall, TouchFlo is for HTC devices and is HTC Inellectual property. I think they must be pretty annoyed that it has been ripped and thrown on to some China Phones, and also is able to be run on numberous samsung phones etc.

He ment the devise is a 'fake' hero eg. its not the realy thing - therefore fake not that you were lying
Thanks max.
You might get on better over in the winmo forums, as they will be more experienced in this stuff.
