Okay, I'll be honest... I am very lost. I have been checking in to look at the progress that has been made on the android - vogue project. Apparently though, I have been gone for a little too long.
I'm running zenulator's senseHERO-v1.3.3 from my SD card using haret. I like it a lot however, it is much to slow to use all the time.
I watched jamezelle's video (here) and it look a LOT faster then mine.
I know that the speed has something to do with the way the SD card is partitioned, however... I'm at a loss.
Is there any way that someone would be able to help me get this rom running at the speed in Jamezelle's video?
Thank you, and sorry if this has been posted before.
hi,
i have the same problem. I have a polaris/crise.
i've read using a sd card with 6 class
the speed improves. i did it but the speed
got the same.
So, i have some questions about partition:
- in which partition do i execute haret.
which files do i use and in which partition
should i put them?
- if all 3 partitions (fat32, ext2 and swap)
are from linux, will wm detetec them to execute haret?
thanks a lot!
p.d: sorry for my english
Weird, I never noticed that my phone was slow until I watched jamezelle's video.

Hey had a question no one on other posts responded to me about. I have debian running on my phones, apps on my SD, Running JF 1.51 US with EXT2 since not too much needed on EXT3. But been seeing people making 3 partitions on the SD card. Fat32, EXT2, and Linux-Swap. Was wondering if anyone could fill me in more about if this is worth doing?
Also side question.. any real way to backup my ext2 to Windows XP or so to change out the SD card.. Call me impatient but I wanna use my class 6.. heh.. At work for another 5 hours.. otherwise I would just use Ubuntu at home like I did my 1st upgrade. I know a couple apps that moved it to the Fat32 portion of the SD card, but not sure if thats stable/advised. Think I should just wait till Im home to do it proper or is there a safe upgrade way now?
Also what size is everyone using as a standard EXT2 size on a 4GB anyways? I had mine set to 1 GB, is that too large? I just didnt want the G1 to run out of space.
Ok well finally sat down and upgraded it. So got everything setup and ready. However according to the posts I am reading.. I need a certain ROM build only?
So am I correct in assuming on JF 1.51 US I can not mount a linux-swap partition? Am I stuck using swapper? Can someone fill me in? Reading other posts atm but so far seems its all being used with 2 ROM sets which I dont plan on upgrading to. Only thing I see to try is this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532188&highlight=linux-swap but if anyone has more info using JF let me know please.
Edit: Found my answer, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4070702&postcount=102 New test build which adds support for linux-swap partitions. While It may take a lil longer before it starts up unlike a init script on start up. Least this does auto do the job on boot and so far its working. The great solution for JF roms. =D
Hi all,
I am going CRAZY trying to find an easy way for me to create an EXT4 partition on my SD card.
Every guide i see tells me to burn a CD wich i cant because i dont have a burner, and then there's the risk of wiping my Hard drive when booting and using Gparted.
Then there are other guides telling me to have a rooted android and all kinds of other options wich i dont have...
Can ANYONE please point me in the right direction (tutorial) or just post a little guide in this thread on how to create an EXT4 partition the easy way...?
I really want to install a final rom for my phone but it's impossible without having a good SD card to save my apps to.
Really reaaaally THANKS in advance
Hi,
Have a look for Mini Tool Partition Wizard in google, it runs under Windows!

As far as I can see it can only do EXT3 etc but not EXT4
Paragon Hard Disk Manager has the Ext4 option available, have never used it though

You're right, but most of nand ROM support EXT3.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
This whole partition thing is a mess. Ive read through numerous threads, been told to do this and that, download mini tools, gparted and paragon, oh and cwr. I really cant get my head around it at all. I currently stuck on the wp7 rom and reading what i have to do to get one of the new nand builds to work, i haven't got a clue. Before I used the gauner hd build (nand with a fat32 sd card).
It's not that hard...
And you don't need to burn GParted to a CD or DVD. You can also install it to a USB Flash Drive and boot off that.

I feel your pain.
Most of the time I have been lucky but when I made a human error, which is called a screwup, you loose alot of time. Now time is something most of us don't have lying around.
There is a build that I am now on which is good I must admit. The way to have the build on your HD2 is simple and straight forward if you follow what is on the page. No bothering with making 'special' partitions via the pc just via the HD2 and it just ... works.
I know the guy has been banned from XDA for copying builds, so I must be using someone elses build from here, hehe
Google 'mccm joon' and you will get to the page. The build is called MCCM HD V5.1 Data2SD.
I formated my sd card to Fat32 before I began and then I followed the very clear instructions in his thread.
Been working like a charm the last couple of days.
Never hesitate to ask for help if you are stuck and can't find a solution!
Thanks, I'll have a look. Ive managed to put the old gauner hd build on and formatted the sd card for now.
Thanks for the replies everyone
Booting from SD seems like the perfect solution i completely overlooked that option :O
I do think it's very weird that we can't manage our SD's (partitions) in windows with some normal program..
Thanks again!
Hi, reading all these posts has confused me - Can Android be installed and run from internal phone memory?
I have 2 SD cards, but none of them is working, unfortunately.
Other issue - how can I format SD and split it in 4 parts? I have no port on my PC to put there microSD (which blackstone has), so it seems impossible for me to format my SD.
I have tried to install Android for numerous times, but the instructions are so hard to understand, I haven't managed
Is there any youtube video showing step by step (and describing) process (including what files should be downloaded and used)???
I have flashed my phone with WIN6.5 like a million times, that is easy, everything is understandable, but Android is like chinese alphabet
Thanks in advance

1. Android cannot be installed to run from internal memory at this point in time. There's people working on it, but until HaRET (running off SD card) is stable, it won't be stable running from internal memory either...
2. You can attempt to add some lines to your startup.txt that *could* help your SD card issues:
Code:
msmsdcc_1bit msmsdcc_fmax=14000000 msmsdcc_nopwrsave
3. I might be biased here (yea, definitely biased ) but my build (FRX07.1) does not require partitioning of your card. One partition is all you need .
However, there are some advantages to partitioning the card, and I wouldn't want to completely discourage you from using other builds - if you're on Windows, there's a great utility called 'Mini Partition Wizard' or something to that effect. Works well.
There are some videos on how to partition, but they're not up to date. I would start with my build, since it doesn't require partitioning. Once you get sick of it, come back and partition your card and give the other builds a whirl. ThaiDai's app helps with that.
I apologize if this isn't in the correct forum. I wasn't sure since it's dealing with two dif os's.
Anyways, my question is Can I access files on the android jellybean partition from inside of wp7? I would like to be able to play movies, look at pics in wp7 that are in the android partition.
Also, what about vice versa? One last question. Wp7 seems to run very quickly, but Android seems to run pretty slowly. I assume its because it's running from the SD card. Is there any way that can be sped up to run at normal (fast) speed?
--- edit:
is it possible to put android on the nand, and wp7 on the sd so that the android os would be faster?
So.
Yes, you can access files from FAT partition on WP7. Few file explorers allow you to do that, just have a look at them and check if Storage Card folder works. They also allow you to watch videos, view images and play music, but forget about playlist support, subtitles or anything complicated. We don't have software to do that yet.
Vice versa is not possible since WP7 uses its own file system which Android can't see nor use.
Android will always run slower because it's an unoptimized piece of sh- I mean software. But you can try ROMs which take advantage of EXT4 partitions using NativeSD method - these are noticeable faster, no more waiting for minutes for apps to launch. You can also overclock CPU and use higher read ahead value for SD card (SD Speed Increase from Market).
Putting Android on NAND and WP7 on SD is not yet possible. It might be when Magldr 2.0 will be released (and it won't be really that anyway), but we don't know when.
thank you
thanks for the detailed and thorough explanation. i see that you are also using a dual boot. how slow/fast does your paranoidjellybean operate? i'm going to look into ext 4 and cpu boosts. i guess i will have to reinstall/delete everything in my android partition to do an ext 4? and i guess if i go ext 4 wp7 won't be able to read it? i'm going to look into it. i will update this with whatever info i find.
---- edit
I'm going to try and use the roms you name in your signature area that you are using, and see if it works any better. what sd card are you using? I'm using a micro center micro sd class 6 16gb one. i'm getting a 8000ffff error in this wp7 rom when trying to get something from marketplace, and the droid is too slow. going to try the ext method for the droid. (can't dl apps on droid either!) so i will post what happens here.
---- edit
ok, i'm thoroughly confused by these instructions (somewhat vague in parts ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869673 Is there a video tutorial where it is shown what to do step by step to get a native sd setup for a dual booth with android sd and wp7? Do I just do it the same way I did before (install wp7, then reset / repartition, but instead of using fat32 i make a fat32 (how big) and an ext4 (or 2?) and which comes first (the fat or the ext) ? Afterwards, ALL partitions are primary?
i found this info for installing ext4. but do i create the ext4 BEFORE or AFTER i install WP7 ?
I'd say Paranoid JB is pretty fast using NativeSD (EXT) method. You will need to create an EXT partition first, but keep a FAT partition, because on EXT the ROM will keep only its own data and apps, the rest is still on FAT (just like now, but instead of data.ext and system.ext in ICS folder there is a partition just for those). Windows Phone 7 will not be able to read content of EXT partition, but it will not be needed, since there won't be anything worth looking at and all media files you will still keep on FAT. You will also have to make a backup of everything on your FAT partition because it will be lost, and fresh install will be necessary. You might want to backup your applications with Titanium Backup though.
For more information on partitioning please visit NativeSD thread.
I'm using a 8GB Transcend Class 4 card with 4GB FAT, 1GB EXT and rest (2.4GB) WP7FS. I don't have any errors with downloading apps on neither WP7 nor Android. Are you sure you entered that special code for Marketplace and logged into Google account on Droid?
furthermore
actually, i installed the hd20 rom you're using and had no problems with marketplace. at this point i have hd20 wp7 set up, activated, and working. i'm just trying to understand some of the more advanced information in the forums about setting up the ext4. i found some very technical instructions (edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534714 ) for setting up an ext2 with gparted via dos then upgrading it to ext4. i don't know if that will mess up the wp7 partition, and if i should have done this before i installed wp7.
i had already read the nativesd thread, and the extended threads from it. i'm afraid i'm just not knowledgeable enough currently to fill in the gaps of information i find in a lot of the instructions. but i'm not giving up.

this has gotten way off the original topic so I've started a new thread with a diferent topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31356468#post31356468
Hi,
Today I've been busy trying to flash NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 from Tytung.
After screwing around a bit I finaly got it to work. All apps and feature's seem to be working.
However the overall system speed is much much slower then I think it should be.
These are the steps I did:
1. Performed a task29.
2. Reinstalled MLGDR 1.3
3. Reinstalled the latest CWM 5.0.2.6 with a 300mb partition.
4. Flashed the tytung_jellybean_r1 kernel.
5. Flashed the NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 rom.
6. I used the NAND with DataOnEXT option.
7. Reboot succesfull and rom started up (Fairly slow).
I have a HTC HD2 (LEO512).
With a 16g level 4 sd card.
I couldn't realy find a step by step guide anywhere so if someone could be so kind to make a list like this it would surely help out alot of people.
Thank you for reading and I hope for a responce soon,
ciao im italian
hi
impotant that you have an ext4 primary partition in sdcard.do you have this one? if not, you have possibility make a backup of your sdcard in pc because for to create partition ,the sistem delete all data of your sd card. after,in recovery,in advanced, partition, you chooise swap 0 and next chooise is 1/2 giga byte(i chooise 4gb 4tobe sure).after you follow the istruction below.
you must to have 300mb of partition with hd2toolkit or other but into aroma istaller you must to chooise a full istallation(important)
and you dont flash any kernel because it is into rom
ps: ...good luck
Your installation method is fine. When you say that the overall speed is slower than it should be, are there any specific areas you can point out? In general in ICS and above ROMS the system uses more RAM which can slow things down due to a lack of RAM. I personally feel this is a small sacrifice to pay for the improvements in gaming and web browsing, as well as the overhauled UI. You may also be overestimating the HD2. You have to remember that it's getting very old now and the hardware just isn't considered even remotely powerful anymore.

ciao guys
I've had indeed forgotten to partition my sd the right way.
Here are the steps I did for people that want to know.
1. Performed a task29.
2. Reinstalled MLGDR 1.3
3. Reinstalled the latest CWM 5.0.2.6 with a 300mb partition.
4. Partitioned a FAT32 primary partition with 32KB cluster size, then an EXT4 primary partition with default cluster size.
5. Flashed the tytung_jellybean_r1 kernel.
6. Flashed the NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 rom.
7. I used the NAND with DataOnEXT option.
8. Reboot.
The rom works fine and the overal speed is okay considering the HD2 hardware.
Thank you for the reactions and thank Tytung for this amazing rom !
very nice
have fun with this rom!!!!!!
The rom is a bit slow anyway, HD2 is not new phone... but nice and recent rom, so it is a choice beetween old and fast or new and slow.
AFAIK, it's a kernel issue. JB kernels do not support HWA yet.
They are working on it.
I have tried to install this rom and also paranoid 2.54 following all these steps but I have a problem. When I try to connect to the internet using wifi a storm of popups with unfortunately all the time comes up until I reboot my hd2 and close my wifi connection. Is there any solution?

3G not working well.
Hi guys, I'm currently using [3.Nov.2012][ROM] NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.2 [NativeSD] rom. My problem is, I am using my 3G 24 hrs..but after few hours of using it.. I realize that the data is switched off and I couldn't turn it on again, not just that I tried to turn it on and off manually from the setting. The icon of the data appeared but I couldn't connect to the internet anymore, my only solution is to reboot my phone.. is there any available solution for this? Thanks and appreciate it..

Follow the guide in my sig, it's very detailed and you shouldn't really need a video. Don't bother Task29ing either, that's a bad habit and is really completely unnecessary.

Download the HD2 Tool Kit - you can perform a Task 29, install MAGLDR and Clockwork Recovery all from this software to include custom repartitioning based on rom requirements. I installed NexusHD2 4.1.2 to NAND on my device...all the NexusHD2 ROMs have been excellent as well as NRGZ28's EnergyROM for Android which to date is my favorite but I can't resist the latest ROMs and compare it to my stepson's Galaxy S3 device and I updating it manually to 4.1.1 stock. After you do this a few times; the routine becomes pretty automatic.

It depends on the task, higher class cards are only significantly better when transferring files:
Cotulla said:
Operating System is often using small block transfers - 512 and 4K. 4K is ARM page size.
It's why important to do fast transfers with that size. As well sometimes overall operations before and after tranfer can take more time than data transfer itself.
Usually high class cards provide better linear speed, but it's only used when user write big files, like movies or pictures.

(note that that's from Cotulla)
There's not much point wasting money on a high class card when a class 2 or 4 will normally do just fine.

every thing work fast and smooth
the install process is as said in other posts and could be found here:

dont forget to use ext4 partition and a fast sd card.
i had installed the native sd option (the third one in the aroma installer) and it works perfect!
good luck flashing the rom, and great thanks to the developpers!!!
Great room, I use SDHC class 4 and NativeSD install and it works quickly and smoothly.
