WM6.5 and some apps - Touch HD General

I have not been around xda for a while now so have not kept up. I finally upgraded to duttys Leo Holy Grail. I have since found that AEbutton opens but does not let me select anything and Advance Config does the same.
Just wanted to adjust the touch screen responce.
Thanks in advance, I have searched but not found out why AEbutton and advance config open but don't work.

First off, AEBPlus is for mapping hardware buttons to functions so it will not adjust the touch screen response.
Open AEBPlus and you should have a list of buttons. Click on one, for example volume up. Now click on 'do not touch button' and another screen should appear. Using drop down menu select 'Handle by AEBPlus' and then choose your ioption, i.e. Single press of button, double press, triple press or long press and then select function on other drop down menu. Save and exit.
I have set AEBPlus to the following settings
Single press vol up > press up arrow key
Long press vol up > volume up
Single press vol down > press down arrow key
Long press vol down > volume down
Advanced config should open and allow you to tweak a number of things.
What happens when you try and open either app?

Yes I know AEbutton plus does key mapping, what I was trying to explain is that both AE and advance config open but I can't select the items to change.
So in AE I see all the red, green, volume up, down etc but nothing happens when I try to select them.
I had them working on my old rom which was WM6 so am thinking something has changed in WM6.5 to stop the selection in the list.
Thanks

what way did you install these apps? cab version?
Have you installed sdkcerts? Try uninstalling apps, installing sdkcerts, resetting device and then using cabs I've provided to install apps again

I thought you had the solution there with sdkcerts which I hadn't installed.
I have put that on but still have the same problem, I can long press on items in the list in AEbutton.
Also installed .net 2 but not resolved the issue, what could it be, I have tried the cabs you provided.
Sully

I think there's nothing wrong with the app itself but your HD might be suffering from the long tap time bug. This is a known error with Dutty's Holy Grail, if you haven't fixed it yet though, install this cab and do soft reset then check AEButton again.

It's all good fella as I had forgot to install sdkcert, it's amazing how quickly you forget the little things you need to do.
Hopefully HTC Hero next year so more learning to do

AE Buttton plus....mapping the ok button

Im trying to map the ok button to a close button insyead of a minimize command.....Ive heard it can be done with this app looking through the wiki.....when i open the app theres no ok button
How do i go about mapping the ok button? :?
Thanks
woops just realised im using the old version
Sorted now
Still no ok button......how do i actually map the ok button with AE button plus :?
Thanks
in the application, go to file and then choose "add button" and then click the button. AEBP appears to make both OK buttons do the same thing. I also find that it interferes with the scroll wheel function when mapped to the OK key. Also, the comm manager button can't be remapped.
On my 6700 (Apache), Button 2 is the OK button.
I love AEB by the way
The author is really responsive, he indicated that a beta will be released next week that addresses some of the issues I noted above
which version do you use?
the current beta 2.4.4
Ok thanks guys......so to map it to a close command instead of a minimzie which do i use from the drop down within AE
Is it
17: Close active apllication
or
20:OK/Close <-Is this an actual close or same as default just minimzie
Any info would be great thanks
i cannot map the "ok" button using the 20: as it doesnt respond to it......however i has successfully mapped the ok button using aebplus and using wisbar lite......what i did was to add the button using ebplus and then choose "run application" and there is a "Close/ok" option and this closes the program entirely
There is a much easier way:
Use the PQzII program. Search the forums for this program.
In the setup go to Windows tab, then select 'Use OK button (Task Close/All)'. Nothing else is required.
I also disabled the icon under Icon tab.
Cheers
Pat
100thMonkey, like u, i too love AE button plus, and thanks for writing to the developer,
hopefully he'll find out how to allow us to capture the rest of the buttons without issue, also the anomalies that are currently plague the "Windows" button.

The problem with PQzII is that if you press OK at Today it will close up your Phone application and disconnet you from network. And occassionally I do want to just minize the apps so that I can bring it up again esp when I am working with muliple apps.
It does not disconnect from network. I never had that happen.
I use the CHT9000 version.
new version 2.5 is out on the website
With 2.5 I still cannot map OK buttone to 20: OK/Close. Nothing happens! :-( I would really like to map one press to OK/Close and double press to Close application. It apperas with AEBPluss Option 20 is not working as other things seem to work (ie change orientation etc)

heya yak86, its true that with 2.5 you can't map the windows and ok button.
However, i had mapped it successfully with 2.4.3 beta, and now i still enjoy the mappings from that spillover.
Have written to the developer spelling out the issues that we are facing, hopefully he'll have his hands on a TyTN and give us a solution soon.

change JogWheel behavior

Hello,
Just got my TyTn and got a question.
If i got a long email (about 34k just plane text) this is a lot of text.
With my tytn and the jogwheel it is possible to scroll down a page (or scroll up a page of course)
I was wondering, is there a way to make this shorter, so that the jogwheel doesnt schroll a complete page, but a half a page or maybe just 3 lines.
When i read a complete page the backight of my tytn turns dark.
Reminder: i do not want to change the settings in backlight! this is exactly the way i want it, but when i scroll more often the backlight stay on.
Please help
I hope it is possible.
Paul
Anyone have any solution to this?
It's bothering me too.
Thanks
Not only that problam bothering me...after installing the aebutton plus now my ok (Side One) button doesnt bring down the start menu any more and sometimes my green dialar button doesnt work too....does....i have tried uninstalling the aebutton plus...but stll im facing the probs...does there have anyway to retrive it to its default behaviour without hard reseting....i tried the button menu from setting but seems this button is not listed there...
any help will be apprecieted...

Make sure you turn off the volume adjustments that are assigned by default to Button #4075. After doing this my buttons function normally allowing me to call the start menu from the side button and the volume calls are eliminated.

I use the latest AEBPlus. If you use the add button function you can add the OK buttons and retain the start menu actuation via the side OK button while making those buttons actually close applications.

Hmmm, strange. i can't seem to find that option under options. We are talking about options in AEBplus right? Only thing that says volume on it is "restore volume slider". Is this the one I should uncheck all items?
Thanks for helping out dude.

That's the correct name. I was coming from my memory. There are three options in there make sure none are checked.
Thanks for helping out aadadams. Still having problems though. After a while the windows button won't open start menu and neither will ok button on the side of Tytn. Too bad, I really liked the function to be able to really close programs with hardware ok button.
Not entirely related but similar, I was wondering whether it is possible to get the scroll wheel to scroll quickly through the contacts list using the 'big letter' lookup? I know of a couple of people who say the phone has randomly done this for them but they can't figure out how.

I do not have a problem with the side button. When pressed while on the today screen it launches the start menu. How are your buttons mapped? Have you assigned multiple functions to these buttons that fail over time?

Nope, only thing I've done is add button and pressed ok hardware button. Then I mapped it to close active program or whatever the term is.
It shows up as button 4075 I think.
Wierd, I did basically the same thing with that button but I remapped several others to extend their fuunctionality. I have never had that happed. My next question is what other apps are you running especially immature apps that may cause the conflict.
Hmm, not running that much else. Wisbar advance and pocketbreeze. That's about it.
I do not use Wisbar apps and sine it does make changes to native start and ok functions it could be the problem. Run without it for day or so and see what happens.
With only wisbar and no aeb+ everything has been ok, will uninstall wisbar and try only aeb instead.

HAve you installed AEButtonPlus by any chance?
Yes, I install AEbutton. Is that the reason ?
I am going to uninstall it to try if I will have my OK and WIN button back.
I installed AEbutton for the copy/paste possibility that you can assign to a button (very useful), I will miss that, but I miss my 2 buttons even more.
I uninstalled AEButton, and made soft reset.
The OK and WIN buttons are still not working :-(
I have just installed ButtonMapper instead of AEButton, I now have the OK button working again !!
But the WIN button is still not working.
Anyone knows how I could get my WIN button working again ?
My OK button is fine, but my WIN button works intermittently. Sometimes it takes three or four presses to register and bring down the Start menu. In contrast, the WIN/OK combined button under the scroll wheel always works without fail. Annoying!

TBH, I'd uninstall button mapper, then run something like SKTools to clear all errant shortcuts and and notification queue entries. Then see where you go from there. Failing that, I'd recommend a hard reset.
bydandie, good idea I will have a look at sktools.
Do you know how does button handling work under the hood ?
what process is launched when I press a button ?
Good question....
I'm thinking a way to change my hard button links without installing a 3rd party software.
Is it possible modifying Registry?
Any other idea?

No, but I do know that in the past when I tried AEButtonplus, I got the same issues as you, but with an uninstall it cured it. It may be worth reinstalling AEButtonplus and then ensure within the app the the Win and OK buttons have nothing assigned to them.
I'm not sure what it calls, ,the codes look different from what is used by things such as the Soft-Key mapper

Normally the hard buttons can be found under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys
There you will find a series of subkeys beginning with 40C
Each subkey correspond to a hard button. For instance on my ppc 40C1 is the calendar hard button. So try to find the subkeys related to Ok and Win buttons and change the default value by the path of the app you want to launch. By default, the hard buttons applications links can be found under
/Windows/AppButtons
Cheers,
.Fred
ps.: I don't have an OK and WIN buttons on my ppc, so maybe its different for these two...
Thanks for the information dotFred, I have had a look on the registry and in the windows folder.
You are right the linking between the application and the hard button is made here, but only for the configurable buttons that you can configure in WM5 settings/button. Unfortunately the TyTN's OK and WIN button on the front and on the side of the PocketPC are not included :-(
I'd also like a way to configure the function of the start button, and the side OK/start button. I have installed Smallmenu and would like those buttons to open it instead of opening the standard start menu.
Any ideas?
I noticed on my 8525 that when i put some programs onto my memory card it deactivated these two buttons as well. You might try uninstalling some recent programs. (the program that caused problems with me was an expired trial version of WA2 that i moved onto my card.)

Possible to re-map hold function of buttons?

I just finished installing PTTFix on my 8525 and I love it. (Thanks Sleuth255!!).
My question is this: is it possible to re-map the other 4 buttons to also add a hold function for them? i.e. When can add extra functions for holding the IE button, or the Messaging Button, or even the camera button.
If there's a registry hack for this or some way to do it please help me out, I've done numerous searches to no avail.
Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help.

When you go to Setting/Buttons to change your button functions, the configuration will be for default, from that drop down menu where you see "*<Default>, you need to select *<Today> and then it gives you the option to change your soft keys either back to original settings or whatever you want. The default setting seems to be <none> so thats why my soft keys did not even work before I changed them. I read about this in another thread and I was able to fix the problem.
As for the record function, I couldn't find any solution for that but I did encounter the same problem with it opening up notes.

8525 Ok button
Does the Vito ButtonMapper allow the changing of the "ok" button on the front of the 8525. I know the side "ok" button is supported, I am looking for the front ok above the End Call Button.

Mapping to OK and Win buttons

Noting that neither AEBPlus or DoubleLauncher seem able to access the OK and Win buttons, are there any other methods to assign an action to double or other states of these buttons? For example, it would be great if I could assign "close/kill" to a double OK click, or launch Resco Explorer with a double Win button click. Right now, only the Browser and Comm Manager buttons seem to be assignable, and press/hold for the Browser seems fixed to VueFlo. With AEBPlus, press/hold for the Comm Manager button shows up separately but can be assigned. I got really used to quick launch on my Wizard. I am finding iLauncher to be an OK sub in some measure, given that lots of icons can show on the VGA screen, but miss a quick double-tap to launch a frequently-used program...

I think it can be done, bit I've never had an Athena to test it on. Will give it a go one day. Will have to get a rom dump and see how things have changed on the newer hardware.
Have you tried all the usual suspects, ie AE Button Plus?

How were you able to do that? I don't see that button.
The Win-button can be displayed as an option (via Add Buttons menu). However, the new assignments don't seem to work.
The new assignment works. I select File -> Add Button, and click the OK-button. The code "4075" shows up, and I click the "Add Button" button p).
From my experience you can map the 'OK' button but mapping on this hardware key seems to be limited and no mapping to the 'Windows' key.
IRC the developers of AEbutton informed me that MS have reserved those buttons strictly for O/S use and that AE hadn't found a way around it yet...that was over a year ago, but it seems they have made no real progress in this area except for a little with the 'OK' button.
I believe Vijay is right though...it can be done...just takes someone really dedicated to finding the solution.
Bear in mind though that most PPC's have more buttons than the Athena...hence the reason why AE haven't 'possibly' done their best to resolve this, or maybe it causes to many problems..who knows?
I've done it before on other devices, some time back, but will have to investigate Athena at some point. Can anyone point me at a freely available rom file for it? I've never even seen the hardware..
