If I set the alarm under Start > Settings > System > Clock I get the notification with first a vibration, then a sound. How do I change this so that I will get no vibration but only sound?
I've been under Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications Notifications but I cant seem to find the setting to change.
I hope you have some good help for me.
Thx
Tap on the little bell in the alarm menu,
there you will find the options to deactivate the vibrator.
Thx - that fixed my problem
From Setting -> Sound and display -> System Volume/Ringer Volume I am getting the following error:
The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_2010090612216_com_android_settings.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log.
I want to change the volume of the power on/off sounds because they are stupendously loud. Can someone help me?
EDIT:
Had to flash the firmware. Its now working.
Thanks for the help.

Rooted unrooted ? Flash a new ROM or anything?
I'm rooted, haven't done any ROM flashing. The only noteworthy things I've done like that would be installing SetCPU (conservative; min 100 - max 1000), lag fix, gps fix, and I used Titanium back up to remove some bloatware.
Cheap fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759156 this removes the sounds that are made when you turn off and turn on the phone. Doesn't fix the FC though.
You can try Odining back to stock or flashing eugene's Vibrant Hybrid of Vibrant9 and that would probably fix the FC.
The audio removal thing failed, and I can't delete the .wav.
I didn't want to flash a ROM already because it is just my 3rd day with the one and I wanted to wait until a build that used the official Froyo build was made but I guess it flashing time unless there is another solution.
Did you try a factory reset?

If you have Rom Manager installed (and you should) open it, select FIX PERMISSIONS....let it finish...and reboot...and see if the problem goes away..
The Rom manager trick didn't work.
I'll try factory reset.
EDIT:
What persistence. Still getting the error. I just I will flash.
EDIT 2:
Can someone tell me which I need to use to get my phone back in its original condition.

You should look for an email you just received that may be corrupted somehow. If you figure out which one, try to delete the email (online). I got similar messages repeatedly after I created a Google contact on line and it appeared in my phone's contacts. I had left the year off the person's birthdate and apparently there's a bug in the Vibrant such that it chokes and core dumps when it encounters an empty year field. I deleted the contact (on line, because I couldn't get to it on the phone without force closing) and the problem went away.
I don't know if you're still having this problem but I too just had a similar issue. Long story short I found out that my volume was force closing because somehow my notifications sound didn't have any sound associated to it. Once I changed that I was able to access the volume settings again.
I also get force close errors on my phone (Vibrant from bell Canada) I sent it for repairs about 6 weeks ago... They flat out replaced the phone after 4~ weeks of waiting! Now after 2~ weeks of use its getting all kinds of force close errors AGAIN!
Is there a way to make this louder. I cannot hear it very well at all. I saw in another thread about a code that can be keyed into the dialer that brings up a audio menu but have yet to figure out where to go in this menu to raise it. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

For 2.2 (FroYo):
Settings > Sound > Volume > Put notification volume all the way up?
For 2.1 (Eclair): (Pretty sure it goes like this, I'm on 2.2 so can't remember clearly)
Settings > Sound & Display > Ringtone volume > Put notification volume all the way up?
i have been having the same problem
I originally posted this in the HyperDroid CM7 thread but I think it might be better here.
I have little problem with my install and I'm not even sure if it's related to that rom or CM7 or me... When I put my phone on vibrate, it will only vibrate when I get a call, it won't vibrate for SMS and notifications in general.
I have set Messaging > Settings > Notification Settings > Vibrate > Always
I also set Settings > Sounds > Vibrate > Always
Still no dice. Any ideas?
the Profiles maybe?... last time I tried, I ended up getting a notification sound from SetCPU notification on Screen On/Off and it was extremely annoying lol
I'll try again and report but feel free to chime in if you have a suggestion

Note that I have played with the default profile since that post and set every app group to Vibrate 'On' but it still doesn't work.
I keep looking online but the 2 answers that seem to fix the problem don't work for me (the Messaging app settings and the Profile settings)
I also remember reading that the vibrate pattern had to be set to a particular pattern to work but I can't find that info again.
Any ideas?

Edit:
Workaround: I grabbed Sound Manager v2 from the market > Vibrate settings and it works
I have the same issue... Have you resolved it??
Cheers
It works now that I used Sound Manager from the market.
I am a noob when it comes to rooted phones and while exploring the possibilities I discovered that when trying to access the sound and notification I get an error "Unfortunately, settings has stopped." every time I try to access sound and notifications. I can control the volume of ringers and notification but that is about it. What is the best way to share my bug report here?
