There's quite a few reg keys in the leo that I've not come across before, nor can find any reference to anywhere..
So I thought I'd start a list..
if you have any thoughts as to what they do or could do then pipe up !
(please don't post ones that you can find the answer too by searching, that's no fun)
1st up:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Touchman Enable = 0
setting it to 1 or above doesn't seem to do anything, except it's reset to 0 after soft reset.

mm you mean the IME tutorial ?
wouldn't that be part of the oobe though?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\htcOOBE\Units\13
CmdLine \Windows\IMETutorial.swf
Yes but this could be a value that would just indicate that it needs to launch. Anyway, that was just a guess.

lol yeah I thought it maybe..
wish Htc would let on sometimes what some of these do, I reckon there's the odd Dev or two sitting there sniggering about all the fake keys they put into the registry.
Yes, proper documentation would be nice indeed, and not just in HTC's case.

Most of them seem to have a reason... I wouldn't worry about a few stray keys here and there, they're not going to be a huge slowdown...

Has many of you noticed, the touchscreen is way too sensitive and while typing / using the device, the touchscreen does not react correctly / works alone.
I think i found a way to at least make it a little better.
Install the cab and reboot.
Please tell me what you think.
Thank you.
EDIT: V2 of the tweak. It is my best. Can't find better results.

Edit 2 - It seams that some ppl ( http://pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/hd2-capacitive-screen-too-sensitive ) like to judge without knowing what the problem is all about, so, two videos are really better than my english..
The problem in not about the display being to sensitive, is about it being precise or not and about ghost key-press ..
Just download the file bellow to understand what this is all about first...

I am trying it now. The screen has been making me nuts. I have had mine for four days now. I read books using mobipocket and it will start changing pages by itself. It will also register random screen presses when using core player. And don't get me started on typing.....Hope this helps.

I should have thought of this before installing the cab, but do you have a backup of the registry key that it alters? (Just in case I want to back-out)

Cool. I'm not finding any difference, to be honest, but I was just about getting there with typing and have never had any phantom screen presses anyway, so probably not the best judge
Would you mind posting either a cab or reg file for backing out? Not planning on doing it, but would like the option.
Cheers mate.

Ive been suffering nothing but grief from my touch screen, alot of phantom presses, if I just rest the phone in my palm and keep the screen untouched it goes crazy.
Just installed this a few hours ago, fantastic! Its probably too early to call it yet but this seems to have made a really big difference.
Thank you so much
Can I ask - does this REDUCE the screens *sensitivity* in any way, or does it actually refine it's *accuracy* somehow? (if so, do you know how?)
Cheers (I'm considering it.....I dont get phantom presses but typing IS a *****)
Another thumbs up here, seems much better. It's hard to know for sure if it's placebo/just getting better or not, but it's certainly no worse. It's also hard to describe what the change actually is, but the end result is that I get things right more consistently now.
Works fine here also, don't notice a difference in touch sensitiveness, but it seems more accurate, can't say how you did it, but I like it.
Could be a placebo effect ofcourse, then again, I still like it
I've tried it as well but i didn't notice any difference but i wasn't that unhappy with the screen sensitivity as well.

You could try a hard reset to see if it fixes your issue.

May I ask why you would reset the timer?

Hi!
I did a diff between two backups of my registry because last week I started having problems with my bluetooth headset.
And by hasard, I found this registry folder:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\CumulativeCallTimers\Line_0]
There are entries like OutgoingVoiceCurrentNumCalls, OutgoingVoicePhoneLifeTime and AllPhoneLifeTime and they increased from one backup to another.
I have no reason to touch them, but maybe you want to try or search a little more about those entries.
Edit: Weird! Somehow, the forum insert a space in the name of the registry folder, but the space is not here when I edit the post. Anyway, just ignore the space in the "cumulative" above.
Anyone tested that? Would it work also on other devices?

While browsing the registry which I often do I came across something interesting:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd
WM7KeybdLayout = 0
Is this a reference for Windows Mobile 7/Windows Phone Series 7?
What could this mean?
I enabled it but can't see any changes.
Hmmm!
interesting.
i think this is probably left over from when HTC were preparing the device for Windows Mobile 7.
WM7 is no longer a project as it was expected... it is now Windows Phones 7 series as you already know... WP7S
wouldnt read anything else into it imo

I wasn't expecting WM7 to appear of course.
Just thought the refence was interesting and wondered how and if it related to the keyboard. I enabled it because it was a keyboard reference not an enable os reference
go to word and enter /windows mobile 7 mode= on
now you phone restarts and boots photon.
go to update and you get the latest beta of wp7s

lol, sorry but I think it's kinda funny how people are hating on the HD2. I'm posting this from my HD2 and i love it! the all settings button shows up under the menu in the settings. hope that helps
hating? i don't see anyone hating on the hd2 in this thread. a year ago, in fact, i owned the htc touch hd1 as well. i'm definitely a fan of the 'hd' series, i just like to customize my phones to my liking. and yes, unchecking the "capitalize first letter" in the input area didn't fix it for me either.
quite a sad nuisance you're having.
riiiiiiiiiight. thanks for the bump.

I just got my HD2 a couple of days ago and found this site yesterday, and I've just read alot of threads that were complaining about the HD2. Sorry if I thought you were hating. Actually, I see your problem and I second the motion. I guess I really never noticed it, but yeah, outside of the sms and email (probably office too), the first letter won't be capitalized, even if the box is checked. Hmmmmmm....

You are not searching deep enough!
On Sense move all the way to the right -> Settings Tab
Click Menu -> More
Click Personal
Click Input
DONT click the Options field but the Options Tab on the bottom of the settings page.
Uncheck Capital letters
This MUST fix the problem - at least it fixes the problem in the default keyboard!

Just wondering ...
Why on earth would anyone want to disable the auto-cap for the first word in a sentence?
The first word of a sentance has been capitalized since the dawn of the Latin alphabet (includes English).
Why would you want to turn it off?

though it's impossible to understand why people like you feel the need to give your input when completely unnecessary, i'm sure it's happened since the "dawn of the Latin alphabet," as you so cleverly put it. thanks for the bump, i guess it wasn't a complete waste of time.

Becuase eg. in Danish we put dates as "d. 27. marts" meaning the 27th of March. In this case I would like it not to start "marts" with a capital letter since it is not a new sentence.

So in Danish you don't use capital letters for proper nouns? Well I never knew that.
Anyway, the suggested settings change DOES WORK. If it doesn't then you have a faulty device and should return it to the supplier. Ask them for the "non-capitalized" version.
I think there's plenty reasons why people don't want the first letter capitalized. I have found the need myself many times. Agree with you johncmolyneux, it should work when you have the settings done. Try a soft reset after making the changes Jawb. On my TyTN II I have the same setting and it works.

Well, I had never thought of that.
I WAS WRONG, AND I APOLOGIZE FOR MY EARLIER COMMENT.
I'm curious, even though there is no space between the period (.) and the word marts, does the HD2 still capitalize marts? I thought, in order for the HD2 to "think" that a new sentence has begun, there would have to be a space after the period. Is this not the case?
I'm going to try with my phone.
Be back shortly ...
---------------------------------
I'm back. I did the test and my HD2 DOES NOT capitalize the word "marts" in the example 27.marts, and I have it set to capitalize the first letter of new sentences. In fact, here's what I wrote:
This is a test. However, if we type 27.marts, will it capitalize marts?
No, it didn't!
But, when I wrote the following:
This is a test. However, if we type 27. marts, will it capitalize marts?
Yes, it did!
So, what I wrote originally still applies. I can't see a reason why you'd want to turn off this feature. If someone can give me an example, I will bow down and apologize again.

Possibly by changing/deleting registry keys.
You should have all keys and values under \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Builtin\Accelerometer
I haven't fully explored it so I can't say exactly what key/value you need to change, but I'd guess the important value would be the Dll that holds the name of the dll used by the accelerometer.
I haven't tried this though so be warned I might be totally off on this, most likely there are others on the forums that know more.
