I take it you have connected the headphones to use FM as the cord acts as the antenna....
doh...just saw you're other thread about this on the following page.how silly do I feel now!
Hopefully next week I'll be able to get one and living in the Notts area myself I'll be able to double check and see if its just you!

Hi Folks
Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for full size widgets for the hero?
Basically my home screen has clock, weather widget and a couple of other freqently used widgets.Swipe to the left and I have a full page of 16 other widgets.Swipe to the left again and i have a full size music player.Last swipe to the left and i have the full size bookmarks widget. If I swipe right from my homescreen then I have my camera album and thats it! The next two pages are empty
Now i for some reason dont like it I dont like to see the unused space but i'm struggling to find anything to put in them. I dont use twitter and not bothered about the footprints widget.
I have had a search on the net for something but as of yet been unsuccsesfull.
Anybody have any suggestions? Dont matter if its a novelty kind of widget or whatever....I'll give it a look!
Thanks in advance
Gaz
I too currently have an empty page
Mainly due to the fact bookmarks widget is not working on latest build of VillainRom.
Can't think of anything to place on that page at all.
The more widgets then generally the slower the UI and faster the battery drains. If you don't desperately need something there I would leave it blank.

Is this just because there is more on the screen graphically or do the widgets themselves slow it down? I was under the impression that the widgets are only shortcuts to the programs and so obviously use no memory untill launched!?

since widgets are "active" shortcuts they are executed the moment you go to the screen they are on. how would it display weather or news when it is a "dead" shortcut?

The weather widget that i use is the one on the clock so not an independant widget. I just assumed that this one was opened when i first chose this clock and just stays open.
Please go easy on me here as im still getting to grips with the whole 'mechanics' of the phone.
So all widgets that i have on my phone scene are active? Most (if not all) are just executable programs like google maps, google sky maps, shazam, flixter, meebo etc and as far as i'm aware dont require to be constantly updated via internet connection(unless opened).
Why would these be active?
If they are constantly active then why would people use task killers? It seems pointless if they are always active anyway!
Like i said,I'm sorry if this is all a bit basic but would be nice to now how it all works as i have actually noticed my phone seems quite slow lately and for some reason notifications on the top notification bar aren't disspearing when i have read my messages etc.
Maybe i have too many active widgets?!?
Thanks
Gaz
you have to make a difference between a widget and a shortcut to an app. the clock is a clock widget with integrated weather support. it is triggered if you go to the screen it is on and by time change (to display the correct time for example). as it has the weather feature it can also activate the background weather service.
a shortcut is the same thing as those on your windows desktop. it is nothing else than a link to the app, and doesn't do anything until you click on it.
check the way you add a shortcut and a widget, after pressing the + sign you have to choose which one you want to add.
It is a gray area as to what a widget is and not all widgets are active. The weather one is active. So is the one I use to give me London Tube status - as others have said they update as soon as you switch to the window (in fact I thought they did it in the background all the time, but i may well be wrong on that).
On the other hand the widget that switches BT or wifi or GPS on or off are not active unless you touch them then they do what is required (switch it on or off) and then become inactive. In reality they are a little mini-programme in their own right, but they are still called widgets.
Shortcuts are not the same as widgets - all they do is open a programme when touched - so Google maps etc are not widgets they are shortcuts.
I have filled all of my screens - any space left after the widgets is now filled with shortcuts to programmes I use most often. Doesn't appear to slow down the phone at all.
guys y not post pics of ur home screen?
I dont know how to take a screen shot on the phone and i dont have another camera to take a picture of it
Fun idea tho
I can tell you that on my left screen i use for all my shortcuts/icons and on my right screen i have all my gadgets ie. For turning on/off wifi bt etc, then weather conditions widget and some reminders color note.
My main screen i keep pretty simple, with a analog clock and standard icons + email and task killer icon.
You can download 'PicMe' from the market for free.
You need to be on a WiFi network and it works a charm. You start it on your phone, then open up a website on the IP address the phone gives you, then it gives you a screenie of what you have on your phone then.
It even allows you to control it through your PC (albeit a little slowly)
hey you guys, i had to reflash my phone today, and when i was at the homescreen instead of showing the weather for my city, it showed the weather for somewhere else. i added my city , and tried to remove the one it shows up now, but there wasnt a option to remove it, just to remove the city i put in. help anyone????????
make sure your gps postioning is on then it will change cites based on gps
yeah i tried that but it always seems to get my city wrong, so i found out that if u hit the clock on the home screen it will give u the option to change cities

Nothing to do with gps, my location doesnt use gps. It gets the data from the phone masts.
Go to the weather tab. Place your finger on the screen and swipe down until your location comes up. Go back to home tab. Weather should match.
Hello everyone,
The problem I'm having is that I dont understand the difference between the "Beautiful Home Weather widget" and the "Beautiful Super Clock 4x2 widget". Because from what I can tell, they both perform the same thing, except that you get tons more skins if you choose Beautiful Home Weather.
I will try and explain:
Long press on the screen and select widgets, then Beautiful widgets, and then "Beautiful Home Weather"( See Pic 1 ), next make whatever adjustments and select "Save & Apply".
Then goto "App Drawer", where all app icons are( See Pic 2 ) and select Beautiful Widget icon. Next, select "Home Skins"( See Pic 3 ). From here, select "Download Skins"( See Pic 4 ) and you will see a very BIG list of skins to choose.
Now select "Installed Skins" and find the skin you just downloaded and click it to apply. Then, hit the back menu button...two times. The skin is now displayed.
** Here is the part I dont understand **
If you go back to the Beautiful Widget icon and select "Super Clock Settings"( See Pic 3), then select "Appearance", and then select "Super Clock Skins"( See Pic 5) and finally select "Download Skins"( See Pic 6 ). You will notice a much smaller list of skins to choose. Also if you try and apply the skin it will not work.
So, can someone please explain the difference.
Thanks in advance,
BK
one difference I noticed between "Home" and "Super clock" is Super Clock lets you swap out the weather icon for a battery icon, to get the skin to change you got to hit save and apply at the bottom instead of backing out to home
Yeah but this is what I dont understand....aside from swapping out the battery skin...what is the big difference between "super clock" and "home skin"?
I dont understand why they would make this option. If anything the "home Skin" is better because you get a ton more skins.
There must be something that I am missing...if anyone figures this out, please...please post it here.
And Raven...thanks for the help again

The Super Clock is a new feature supposed to have better graphics or more dynamic or something. But it's a newer format so the previous skins don't work and they've gotta make new Super Clock skins so that's why you don't see as many choices.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Super Clocks are a higher resolution and look better on tablets when scaled.
EDIT: Wow, like 10 seconds late.

But as for using the superclock or the home weather option can you really see a difference on a phone?
When I go the super clock method...I dont see any difference...they both look the same.
If the super clock method is made for tablets...then they should say so.

Bump...Sorry to keep this thing going but I'm just trying to get a better understanding the real difference.
Please any help would be great.

Skins trouble
I used to use bw on my galaxy s. Since a change in rom and on my tab I can't seem to download any skin. I press download skins but then wait and wait. Nothing comes. Any solution?
Icon Problem,
iv tried rebooting it and tht doesnt fix it ,this icon problem only happens when more than 1 icon is linked to another :/
Apps i installed recently are:
.androids! live wallpaper
.blue skies free live wallpaper
.nexus revamped live wallpaper
.stickmount
.touchpal keyboard
.bsplayer
i also noticed something strange in my installed apps which i never actually installed and there is no uninstall option
Iv attached 3 screenshots, thanks in advance guys, its driving me mad, is there a custom rom which is exactly the same as stock jellybean but trimmed of all the rubbish :good:
I'm not really sure what your question is. The icons you see are exactly what everyone sees if you put 2 or more icons in a folder. If you don't want icons in folders, touch the folder, drag each icon out of the folder and long-press the empty folder to delete it. You can also name the folder if you want to keep it with a description. The Korean keyboard icons come with the OS as system apps. Don't worry about them.

Agreed, I fail to see a problem here.
strange
so having a small black circle appear when 2 icons are linked together is normal, that's ridiculous, it would look miles better without the black circle it just doesn't look right, here is a better screenshot to show you what i mean - those black circles were not there yesterday i can assure you that.
what is the point of having a black circle when it just does not need to be there, am i going mad lol

It's called a folder! It's always been like that... And if you don't like it, use a custom launcher that allows you to change it. Check out mine using Apex launcher:
