Ok i am using CM 4.2.6 and I wanted to try a newer hero rom, but with CM you can use tether over wifi/3g im not sure if hero roms do that, i was wondering about if it does? Fill me iin please
almost all hero roms have the tether option, it depends on which rom it is though... if its the latest 2.1 hero/Eclair by eugene, it will most likely not be supported until the developer of the apk builds support

Thanks for the info. Can you give me a little idea what rom is that? Is it in development now?
Cheers!
The rom is planned to be developed soon, with the infinimod team.
The rom should be based off RCMix22b_WWE from HERO if everything goes as planned.
I was wondering, whats the fastest rom without sense that is able to properly connect to AD-hoc hotspots created by Connectify/Windows 7 hotspot creator?
CM7 worked great, but the latest nightlies are unstable, so I flashed imPROS and its great, but the wifi doesn't work there .

have you got the right kernal and radio for imPROS? I know some ROMS need different ones, have a look on the wildpuzzle thread for some and descriptions of them.

I love having an active mod here! Thank you
Since there was no unified thread for this, I created one.
As everyone knows, Netflix is working on the Evo, but only on CM7 and Froyo Sense ROMs.
Those of us with the gingerbread sense (1, 2 or 3) ROMs don't have working Netflix.
I have been reading through the various ROM's threads and it seems that we don't really know what is going on. The app makes it as far as the loading/buffering screen before turning completely white and then goes back to the app home screen.
So I create this thread with 2 purposes
-to keep a central thread that all Evo owners can discuss the issue
-to attempt to find out what is wrong
-to hopefully fix a workaround/fix.
I know we can simply switch to CM7 or rollback to 2.2, but I really like having GB with sense and I'm sure others agree with me.
I agree, On all the Gingersense roms I've tried it does the same thing.
Virus has it fixed for the upcoming beta of his kingdom port.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
i dont know if this has been said but virus kingdom rom's next update will have netflix.... should be ported to all other roms right after iam sure....
Does anyone know what the specific issue is?
It is it something that can be fix via flashable zip or does it require significant changes that necessitate a complete ROM flash?
Does anyone know what the fix is or does?
I'd like to try it out and if possible, make it usable on all ROMs, so we don't have to rely on his ROM (not that there is anything wrong with his ROM).
netflix on 2.3.4
Netflix is working on my Evo and I'm running deck's 1.2c, which I believe is 2.3.4 . I'm don't remember re-downloading netflix when i flashed 2.3.4 because I came from mikfroyo's 4.62 . I used TB to restore and it works just fine.

As I said, Netflix is working on all ASOP, CM7/CM7-derived ROMs. This thread is refering to Sense based GB ROMs for the Evo.

Do u know the ETA for the upcoming beta?
It seems that Virus isn't releasing a ROM with it fixed.
Does anyone at least know why it doesn't work?
There doesn't seem to be much details on this. Virus said that it was too buggy to be released, but details would be nice.
I just installed gingersense b4 yesterday and went to download Netflix and it isn't even coming up in the market

I believe netflix took the app off the market so you won't find it there.
Netflix will post an updated version, so its best just to wait, or run an asop ROM if you can't.
I have not been following the custom roms news very closely these last few months.
I understand there is very few roms that combine Froyo (or later) and Sense (whithout which I don't enjoy the Hero that much) but which solutions exist?
Alternatively, is there a UI really close to HTC's with a recent Android version?
I was refering to that article: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/froyo-with-htc-sense-coming-to-the-htc-hero/
As far as i know, the android 2.2 version (froyo) with sense isn't so good for the moment, since nobody made a full working camera and other stuff
You have to wait for somebody to make the libs work...but if you want to experience sense 3.5 (since it's the latest) i recommend a new phone...since the Hero is to damn old
BTW: guys are working on a ICS ROM but for the moment we just have to wait for a stable release...and it seems that a lot of phones don't have a working camera... but don't be sure that the Hero will run ICS as a every day use.

What good alternative to Seense is there then?

The best option for a STABLE AND FAST phone is the 2.1 version that was relesed these days:
Link HERE
You can use it without any problems Everything works
Stefan
I guess I could give it a try.
Thanks.
I tried ]Decked_X that includes joins CM7 with android 2.3.7 and Sense UI. It's very fast and stable, but only support English language.

If it's CM7 run CM7 stock and if it's Sense UI you run Sense UI...this is my personal taste
2 things combined aren't so good looking... I haven't tried the ROM but if i have time, i'll give it a spin

no need for goldcards or things like that...
1. Root the phone via universal Androot
2.Install Rom Manager from market -> it install clockwork mode on the hero
3.Start Flashing
4.Enjoy
PS: i'm not responsable if you do anything wrong...It should be easy tho...

Well, that's an update!
Failed! No~~~Fu goo~~~ on my Orange Hero
Z4root tells me the temporary root worked but OverclockWidget (for instance) doesn't work.
The permanent root (of Z4root, still) seems to work, I have some su requests with some apps but Rom toolbox doesn't work.
Hi!
Elelinux 2.1 rom is also very stable and fast. You could give it a try.
Yes, it is! I like that!
For newer ROM with sense You can try WildHerocRC4.

Since the 3G stuff for the Nexus 7 is closed source, it's not included in AOSP. I'm wondering if any of the custom roms or kernels will work (translation: still give me 3g). I am rooted, but still running stock. I'm willing to test roms, just hoping someone can confirm anything working in this regard.
So far my only complaint (reason to look for custom) is no cifs support in the stock kernel.

Well I know that paul obrien has made a separate ROM for the 3g version of N7, so I guess I'd wait for more 3g specific ROMs to come out. Same for kernels, I imagine the kernel has some 3g specific files (but don't quote me on that!)
Here's his ROM by the way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007937
Hope this helps.
