My phone has been working fine until today when I changed my SIM to a new one. Now when I get a text message all I get is the vibration but no sound is played! It was fine before. I have it set to "Normal" in the Sound Profiles and have select a tone for new messages but still nothing... anyone know what's happened?
Also how do you setup a SIM password on this phone? I already had it set on my old SIM from my old phone but have no idea how to set it up on here on the new SIM! Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Only to be sure: Did you try a soft-reset? This can solve such problems very often.

I've tried a soft-rest a million times now I think but still no luck.
Ok I've found out the solution to my own problem... and boy was it a stupid one and I feel like a right idiot. I had the volume turned off which was the reason the message sound stopped playing!
Sorry!

I now have the push email up and running but I can't seem to get my device to wakeup when I have new mail. I have to keep turning it on to see if I got new mail or not. This can be very annoying. Is there any way around this?
I have looked in notifications and under "new email message" I have it selected to display on screen and vibrate. What else do I need to change?
Hi DanITman,
I've got the same problem here.
With my HP6340 this works perfectly so when I bought the wizard I expected the same, but not.
Seems to me that active sync can’t wake up the wizard even if you change the registry to wake up WLAN after standby.
So if there is someone else who could help as that would be much appreciated.

I have no problem getting mail while in sleep mode. I just want it to notify me when I do receive mail by waking up and vibrating. Or stay in sleep mode and just vibrate. I would be happy with that. I just think that the push email is useless unless I get notified when an email comes in so I can respond promtly. I'm glad to see others are having the same problem and hopefully a fix will come out soon.
So if I understand you correctly your device can receive e-mail when it's in standby?
Do you use GPRS or WLAN for push e-mail?
I think you might have checked notification under sounds in the settings screen?

Drifter

I use GPRS/EDGE for all of my email. ActiveSync works fine in sleep mode. However, when mail does arrive I don't know it until I turn my device back on manually, making the whole push email thing useless because i still have to check to see if I have received new mail or not. Under notifications I have it set to vibrate and show on screen when new email arrives (which it does) but only if its not in sleep mode or once I turn the device on manually it will begin to vibrate to tell me new mail has arrived.
Sorry can't help you with this one mate.
But you’re right, why no notification when your device is in standby.
Seems to me that there is no difference i notification between receiving an SMS or E-mail when you use push e-mail.
Maybe a bug in the test rom?
We will se when there is an official one.
Same issue here. Was never an issue using the old psuedo-push sms system with the old ROM.
Anybody know what the effect of never going into full standby mode would be on the battery? In other words, the screen backlight off but never in standby?

I have never been able to get this to work even when I had ActiveSync set to sync every 5 minutes with the old ROM. It wasn't a problem if you used the old SMS push system because the sms would wake the device up. I was hopeing it was my fault and I was missing a setting but it seems its happening to everyone. Its a pain in the ass.
I did some testing and found out that I can get it to play a sound in standby mode when I have a new email but it won't vibrate. Since my device is only syncing when told too by the server I am going to see if I can get it to vibrate at the end of an activesync and that could possible work.
Setting ActiveSync to vibrate after its finished doesn't work either. Even when the device is on
I was hoping that the "Wake Up to Full Power Mode" tweak in Tweaks2k2 might solve this one, but alas no go. Bummer.

Thanks for trying that. I think MS needs to get this figured out if they want these devices to be BlackBerry killers. Push email is useless if I don't know that I have email the minute it comes in.
this may not help, but it's worth a try......
i put my Wizard (with the new Rom) into a car cradle which is always powered..........therefore the unit is always on.........if the current program on screen is Inbox, then new email coming in does not sound the notification sound.......
if Inbox is running in the background or not at all, then i get the notification sound.......
so........ i tried at home both methods and even when switched off, Inbox needs to be running in the background and not the current program for the sound to notify in an off/standby state
but........ i do get sound notification in standby as long as it is running in the background (ie, when you switch it on, Today screen or Phone or any other app is the 1st thing that greets you)
i regularly get the sound going off through the evening whilst in standby mode....
I know it doesn't solve you problem, but Goodlink got it right.
I will get sound and vib while the unit is in stand-by.
you would thing MS would be able to do the same...
I assume its a glitch that will be fixed soon. Does anyone know where in the registry notifications are kept? I would like to do some searching to see what I can find.
Same problem...
I have the very same problem. Had it before the AKU2 ROM and still have it now. I have taken to using MortSaver and never putting the device in standby...battery doesn't seem affected. Still, rather have this working like it's supposed to out of the box...hope someone can find a solution!

Thanks. I am going to try this -- do you know if the program, which I assume is running in the background all the time, has any impact on device performance?
I have the Cingular 8125 and I love it, but I also have the same problem. I have Goodlink installed and if my device is sleeping it will not vibrate when emails come in. It will make the sound but no vibration. I am currently using Mortsaver for now to keep the device running with the screen off, so that I can feel the vibration and know that I have received an email.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Can anyone verify if this has been fixed in the new Kjam ROM. I don't want to upgrade until this gets fixed. The qtek test ROM is working really well.

I still can't believe that MS has screwed this seemingly fundamental feature up.
In any event, the workaround I am trying at the moment involves the new version of AEPButtons plus. Using this program, I set a double click PIE button action to turn the screen off. In settings, I have unchecked the "Turn Device off after" button so the device never goes to sleep. When I holster or put down my K-jam, I double click the PIE button to turn off the screen and save battery life/prevent accidental key presses. Since the device never truly goes to sleep, the email notifications still come and I get the vibrate telling me an email has arrived. At night or when I don't want notifications, I press the power button. It's not a perfect solution, but it seems to work OK and I don't seem to be missing as many emails coming in.
Hi,
I've got big problem... When I send SMS to someone and he has turned off phone, I get a delivery notification. When he turn on phone, I get another. So in this point, delivery notification are useless for me, because they don't tell me that someone gets message or not... It's quite confusing. I searched for similar problem, but no luck...
Of course when someone had turned on phone I get only one, proper delivery notification,
Rom which now I use is TESS 4.2, but rom isn't a problem (same on Energy, Shadowline, billyj80, bysio), operator is Polish Orange.
Anyone have any ideas?

Are you talking about "SMS send notification" or "SMS delivery notification"?
The first one you receive directly after sending the SMS (notification from your device). The second one when the SMS is arrived on the device of your correspondent (notification from the network). Both of them you can enabling and disabling with Advanced Config or another Config-tool...
Hi,
I talk about delviery notification

Then you can nothing do I think... Maybe you can call your operator for asking how this is possible...
Do you have it with only one contact or with other numbers to?
I've got this problem with diffrent numbers (and diffrent ops), earlier on Trinity everything was ok, so realy I don't know what is going on... Maybe somthing wrong with radio?

No, no, no, you receive the message when the sms is received by your contact. Your device and your radio can't know that... It's your operator who send you the message. So you can do nothing, except disabling it. Best idea is to call your operator...
Hmm... Just a while ago, I make test. I send sms from topaz to turned off phone and of course I get delivery message :/ When I turned it on, I got second one. Next, I insert SIM to my second phone, e52, send SMS to switched off phone and what? Nothing. I wait 5minutes, no delivery report. I switched on phone, and when sms arrived I get message.
So it is something with Topaz, not operator...
When I receive a new SMS message the whole phone freezes for at least 5 seconds. I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700495 but it did not work.
I searched but could not find a way to fix this.

Just curious but do you have a sound file attached to SMS notifications ?
And if you do , one of the stock sounds or a custom one?
I do have a sound attached to SMS notifications, and its a stock sound. Can that cause the freezing of the phone when receiving a new message?

I have seen it when it is a custom sound, from the SD card ... but you know just to check maybe turn off the notifications and have a friend send you a message and see if it freezes without a sound attached ....

I'm having this same issue, its a real PITA
When I upgraded my radio to the 2.12 version from stock T-mobile radio, the problem became far less noticeable. I would say it's a non-issue on the new radio.

i had the same exact issue as the poster all the hotfixes i tried never worked the only thing that worked was flashing my rom. now theres no lag at all and im more than happy
Hi guys! I've been using WP7 for some time now and I've noticed that it doesn't display notifications properly on the lock screen. It displays my missed calls always, but it displays my new messages & e-mails after I restart the phone. I've enabled all notifications. Set sounds on everything but still.. the phone doesn't notify me. Today I saw that I had a sms 2 days ago.. Any solution? Thanks in advance!

Will try! Thanks for the responses guys!
same here. sometimes i just dont receive sms. Its not all the time but happens frequently my smasung focus just stops receiving sms for a long time. im guessing for some reason i had no signal the carrier tried to deliver the message and couldnt then for some reason the time between the next try is long hours of waiting.
This is driving me mad as I'm missing calls and messages, at least once or twice a day my ring tones and notifications stop working, if I go to sounds be notifications in settings and click to choose a ring tone they don't work they are all silent. I then have to restart the phone and they work fine until something triggers it, I can't suss it out, its nothing to do with do not disturb.
Any help is appreciated, thanks
Mine is xt1572 with android 6.0 with may security.

This is one of the known bugs of this device... It doesn't effect everyone. Are you using the stock ring tones or your own?

It's not just you... But you have it more frequently than most, significantly more, it only happens to me once or twice a month and a reboot fixes it. I've just gotten in the habit of rebooting every week or two.
2-3 times per day makes me wonder if you have some other software conflict... Have you tried booting in safe mode and running for a day?

It's not done it at all since ???
