Outlook email - right soft key while in message? - HD2 General

I'm surprised not to have seem this apparent 'bug' mentioned by someone else.. or is it just me?
From within the underlying Outlook email client, going into an actual individual email message, right right 'Menu' soft-key is greyed out / inaccessible.
Only way to access the contained functionality is to hold down on some free space within the email text itself which after a few seconds brings up the context menu and within which contains the same/similar.
Frustrating though - adds extra time between opening a message and then doing something with it (move/delete etc).
???
[stock UK 1.43 ROM btw]

I had the same problem for a couple of days last week, but it went away as mysteriously as it appeared, and it's no longer greyed out.

Hmm, very strange indeed. So I only received my HD2 yesterday and this problem has been there since I first sync'd up my email.
No doubt I'll be resetting lots over this coming week as I learn by trial and error, before hopefully setting it up properly this weekend. Fingers crossed it "disappears" for me too!

[MMS/SMS] messed up - solved

I don't know if anyone else has encountered this problem, but it seems to me my SMS/MMS manager is messed up. I had a SMS conversation with 2 contacts and they received all my messages at once, 3 times.. I also received several errors at once "message could not be delivered, stored as concept" (needed to press 10 times OK). I received a MMS but couldn't download it (mms worked perfect with my previous phone). I sent 3 MMS's, but only the first one was received. When I try to open "sent items" my manager "blocks" (and does weird things when I keep scrolling down), but I can go back to the other folders. Is it normal that every message I sent is stored in Outbox?
Another q, how can I display "time" in my topbar? I know it was possible with my P3600, but since HTC Home it's a bit difficult to find this (non-existing) option.
Thanks.
I don't have this problem with my Snap - I have an unlocked HTC-branded device (not obtained from a network provider), OS details as per my signature. You?
To get the clock to show in the Windows Mobile Standard icon bar you need ClockOnTop.exe - there's no facility to put the time and date there otherwise (as you could with Windows Mobile Professional).
See here.
Thanks, I got the clock installed now.
I also have an unbranded HTC device. ROM: 1.19.404.1, Radio: 3.45.25.30A.
So you can access "sent items" without a problem? And your outgoing messages, are they stored in "Outbox" or "Sent items"?
I did something wrong during the first setup of my device:
When asked for my internet connection, I pressed "cancel" since my internet provider wasn't listed. Therefore the setup of my device wasn't completed and that's why my message system was driving mad. Probably also the result of receiving a few messages before completion.
I performed a hard reset, chose a random provider and everything's working fine now!
SOLVED!

Allright mate
You got it solved!

Well I had the same problem and it was really screwed up, my settings were listed and applied. That night it sent my messages time after time to all the contacts I sent messages to previously. I thought there would be something wrong in the network but my operator ensured me the messages originated from my device at a +- 10 minute pace.
I contacted HTC support in the Netherlands, I was told to do a hard reset and it was fixed. I recommend hard resetting all new Snap devices upon first use to eliminate this problem. I also received a message from a fellow new-Snap-owner who had the same problem, so watch out with this as it will tear up your phone bill!
My Snap is unlocked HTC branded and everything else seems perfectly fine!
Thanks for the clockontop tip btw!
ozone unlocked
does anyone know what i need to do to add mms settings or how to unlock these settings ,when i go into the settings everything is greyed out new edit etc,i have all of my other settings done internet etc im useing this on tmobile and i have wm 6.5 onit email me at [email protected] if anyone knows.

How to view emails?

Hi, I have set up my AOL email with the Leo, and it is finding its loading them fine, but I can just seem to flick through them, If I tap/double tap them, nothing happens and so the new email count isn't going down.
What do I do ?

Try this, lock your phone go to start --> lock in the left corner, and the slide to unlock it... That'll do the trick ;-)

Nope only this 1 time *
One small issue that's a bit irratating for me is I've got 2 accounts set up to send e-mails to my phone and when I see that I've received e-mails and go to check them it:
a) Doesn't necesarilly start off showing the account that's received an e-mail..would be better if it automatically highlighted the account that's received the most recent e-mail..
b) When I'm in the right account it'll show a count of how many new e-mails I've received but when I read one and delete it it won't go to the next e-mail received and I'll have to flick through the remainder to get to the next new one before opening it up to read..What I'd like to happen is after reading/actioning any e-mail it automatically goes to the next newest e-mail and not any older ones that I've still got sat in my in-box.
If anyone knows how to resolve those minor niggles I'd be gratefull to hear from you.

New mail preview problem

I have setted up my two account with no problem.
I can receive the email and displayed in preview, but... when I tap on the screen to open the mail... nothing... the mail seems to be tapped (the graphical effect of the sheet bounced back) but the mail still no opened.
I have to select "All" in the left bottom of the screen and go to Windows Mobile "core" to manage the account and mail.
This problem is popped out two days after i have take my Leo, the first two days all worked good.
I think I have setted some things that I have to "not touch".
Any ideas?
This is a known issue, which you would have found, had you searched the forums.
Open the start menu and lock your phone with the bottom left softkey. Then, when you unlock the phone the problem will be gone.
warezhunt?
Well, I dont know what happened but now it works.
I tried uninstalling some applications but it didnt change anything so maybe it got something to do with a registry tweak or the hebrew cab on our devices.
anyway strange thing is that today it started working again but pretty slowly - it takes about 5 seconds till it opens the mail.
the workaround that have described johncmolyneux worked great for me!

A couple of issues

Hi Guys,
Ive had my HD2 for a couple of months now, its been running ok. I do love the phone but ive had a few issues of recent.
SMS Problem, now ive read about the sms loading issues, wrong timing etc
My problem is when I send an SMS the other person receives them like a day late, sometimes they get it straight away. I have checked to see I have signal and the message has gone through but even then the problem persists.
"get html" is another issue. I currently sync with my work exchange server however, when I try to select "HTML" email format it is greyed out and instead I have to choose plain text. I think at first when setting up the account I do get the HTML option but this must automatically go back to plain text
I have also tried going into an individual message clicking menu > view > get html
but even this is greyed out!!
Hope someone can help, Thanks!

For the SMS problem, try disabling the HTC messaging client with this app http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Tweaks/Zenyee-Disable-HTC-Messaging-82632.shtml. This will revert it to the default windows mobile one, which seems to have no issues.
2nd issue, not sure - never used it.

"Delete old messages" keeps checking itself

Hey guys, stumbled across this forum while searching for help with another issue and it's been a great help so far.
Anyway, have a new problem with the phone. I have (or atleast had) a fair amount of messages from various people. On my birthday of all days (I guess I was getting larger than average amount of messages?), the phone decided to display some error message which I didn't see and then deleted all of my messages, so people have messaged me for my bday and I have no idea what they have said, haha, but thats a seperate problem.
Went into the settings and the phone has checked 'delete old messages' again even though I made sure this was off when I first got the phone.
I changed it back and checked again... the phone has checked the box again. No matter what I do it keeps checking the box.
Any ideas?
I have that bug too. I do not know how to solve it. In order not to del my old messages, I just increase the text message limit (from 200 to 1000).
I have the exact same problem. Very annoying. I've lost a fair amount messages due to this too. Now I've increased the text message limit from 200 to 500 and I backup all my SMSes to my gmail account using "SMS Backup" every night. Seems to be the only way to preserve old messages at the moment.

I've done that now too (up to 5000 as thats the limit), so hopefully it should be ok now, but I'd still like to know how to turn this auto delete function off if possible. I bought this phone because I was sick of how controlling the iPhone was, don't really want another phone that does what it wants, haha.
Up until today it used to just ask me if I want to delete older messages everytime I went into messages, but now its just decided it's going to do it.
Temp. Fix-ish.
I don't want to bump an old thread and I don't know if this has been solved yet but when I discovered this I did some tinkering and discovered it appears to be triggered by backing out of the messaging service using the back key. The trick is to use the home key to take you back to the home screen. This will allow you to always have "Delete old messages" unticked.
Until a fix is out I hope this helps.
I had this issue before!
Surprisingly, it went away after flashing to another firmware (which turned out not liking) and then flashing back to my old firmware via Kies.
If you're unwilling to go that route, then I suggest using a different messaging app such as Handcent SMS or something like it and bypass the default messaging app all together. It doesn't look as nice as the default messaging app IMHO but it does not have all the quirks the former gives (like changing 3-SMS long messages to an MMS automatically...irritating!)
I heard Froyo will be fixing the annoyance I just mentioned. Maybe once the official Froyo from Samsung comes out all these small annoyances would go away.
That 3-long SMS to MMS is annoying because I get unlimited SMS but it charges me the standard rate for MMS so it's stupid.
I never really reach the 5000 limit and I'm happy using the home key method as it is but good options otherwise.
