Using an HTC MAGIC cyanogen rom 4.2.6 32A with the latest stable tethering
1.60.
I can have plenty of clients connected IPhone, PC's, Laptop still connect
without any issues. However the HTC Hero rooted (tried 3 devices) see the signal broadcasted with some third party application but is unable to connect to the signal of the G1Tether, it doesn't show in the Wifi list available.
I tried changing the Channel, Power, Frequency, Security.... nothing.
IPhone, PC's, Laptop still connect without any issues.
Is there a log or something i can tweak, try?
Any idea?
Phil

hi
try getting the wifibuddy from the Market and use it on ur phone
it works for me
Hello,
my Tattoo also connects to every wifi point except the one at home, with which I have no problems at all using my 2 laptops and a PS3! To be precise, it gets connected but there is no data transfer at all. I've tried various roms and 3rd party software including wifibuddy that haree suggested, but still no luck.
So what else is there to try?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
i cant get my apps like WebSharing, RemoteSMS, Remote Notifier to work. My phone says the service is running but i cannot connect to the address on my browser.
But the site works on my phone if i go to the address on my phone. So somehow i cant access the ip that goes to my phone. I can see my phone on my router page, but i cannot ping it.
Im using HTC HD2 with mattc's nexusleo 1.1
does anyone have any solution!?!?
i got the same problem here :/
RemoteSMS not working at the clients on my network
using HTC HD2 with OzDroid WinMo ROM, Radio 2.10.50.28_2 and MDJ_Gingerbread_HD2_v.0.9.1_Stock
but i got the same issue on several other winmob roms, radios and android builds
i have the same problem on my samsung continuum
i got the same problem in some roms
This kinds of app can use in a few Nand Android
I don't know what's going on /_\
I have the same issue with IP Webcam. It's something to do with Android security.
There is a workaround but it's not ideal in most circumstances.
Ping your device continuously; From Windows "ping <DEVICE IP> -t" all attempts will time out (this is normal) leave running...
Open web browser on device and browse to "http://<YOURIP>" You'll notice ping attempts above will start to reply.
you should now be able to connect to service on device.
I would like to see a permanent fix for this also, anyone!?

Hi all,
I have a Rogers 32a Magic rooted with Cyanogen 6.0.0-DS (SPL=1.33.2010, RADIO=3.22.20.17)
I have been trying to get Wi-Fi tethering working. On a buddy's nexus one he has built in support for Wi-Fi tethering, it looks like the htc magic does not. So I downloaded Barnacle, but whenever I make a network it is NEVER visible by other devices (I have using multiple devices). I have heard that android-Wi-Fi tether is good, but it does not have an option for HTC Magic phones using Froyo.
Does anyone have Wi-Fi tethering working for the HTC Magic? If so how did you do it?
Thanks,
Mark
Try this...in Barnacle, go to settings, then under custom ad-hoc, select the Hero/Eris profile. That worked for me. Good luck!
Hi everyone,
I have written an app similar to Gmote, but it uses UDP broadcasting on the Wifi to find its server, so connecting is easier. This works fine when I am at home and both my phone and my computer/laptop are connected to my Wifi at home.
However, I was wondering, if this would also work anywhere else, when there is no router (on holidays, parties, etc.). My HTC Desire Z has the HTC-specific Wifi-Hotspot-App, that allows my laptop to access my phone's 3G-connection (which works fine) and the Wifi-Hotspot can even be activated when there is no 3G activated/available. I can ping each of the devices and when I connect another Android-device to this Wifi, I am able to connect to the laptop.
So: UDP-broadcasting and TCP-connects work on this Wifi-Hotspot the same way it works at home, when I use my laptop and a different Android-device. This involves 3 devices in total.
But: I want to UDP-broadcast and connect from my Desire Z, which is the hotspot at the same time (only 2 devices involved). And this doesn't work, as it throws an "Network unreachable"-Exception when trying to UDP-broadcast anything using MulticastSocket.send().
Do you know how I can connect from my phone to my laptop, which is connected to my phone's Wifi-Hotspot? Does it work with your devices?
I appreciate any tips.
Thank you,
Philipp
Hi
I just installed the NexusHD2 ROM today, and I experienced a bug/issue with this ROM.
The problem is that my wireless network is hidden (doesn't broadcast SSID and doesn't show up on list of available networks) and therefore no devices will see that it's there, unless they know it's there. I did have the SENSATION XL v3.0 Android 2.3.5 on the device before and that one did not have the problem. Before that I had some PACman JellyBean ROM, which also didn't have that issue.
My HTC One X with stock HTC 4.1.1 ROM also registreres my hidden network without any problems.
Now in order to get connected to my network, I need to tell the OS (doesn't matter if it's Android, WP, iOS, Windows, OS X, Linux) that it's there, and also tell the type of password-encryption and what the password is. This proces is just the same on every single ROM I used, but only difference is that the NexusHD2 JB ROM doesn't recognize the network when it is hidden. If I then go to the setup of my Wireless router and turn off the hidden network, so that anyone, within range of the wireless router, can see it, then it also is recognized by the HD2 and it automatically connects. When I then hide the network again, it stays connected, until I reboot the phone or until it turns of Wi-Fi to lower power-consumption. When it then tries to reconnect, I have the issue again, where it tells my that the network is out of range/not available.
Does anyone else have this issue, or does anyone know how to fix it, without having to change the configuration of my router.
I have the HTC HD2 EU 512MB Version
Just go to settings and add the network manually. The plus sign at the bottom of screen!

I use the same setup - hidden network - without problems. Not sure what the problem is but I would try a lower channel number and/or set a different encryption method on the router to see if one might make a difference.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
