Free Exchange Push Mail Server W/ Exch. Over Https And Alias's!

I run an exchange server and I am welcoming pocketpc users that are in need of an exchange account to activesync with. This service also offers Direct Push for those of you that have have this on your PocketPC. As well as the ability to sync all of your contacts, calander events, and task wirelessly onto your Outlook desktop instantly.
NOTICE: Lots of users have been asking if they can have an alias setup so that it looks like they are sending from thier personal email address (ie gmail, hotmail, yahoo ect..) and the answers is YES! With each account you can have an alias setup so that your recipents see your email address as anything you like! In order to keep this service alive, it is asked that you donate $10.00 USD in order to use this Email Alias service. You can use paypal and send the money to [email protected]
Anyone that still needs a Exchange account, I can provide one for them. I will be providing up to 75 or so accounts for free, donations will be and are always appreciated. My constraint right now is how much hard drive space I have. If I can get enough donations for a bigger hard drive I would be able to give out many many more accounts. Also, my service will include Exchange over HTTPS as well if you want to use the server with Outlook on whatever computer you want to. I can provide these settings for people that want the service. What version of Exchange is this? Any HTML mail support?
How or where do I install the certificate you sent me? I have a mail2web account but that didnt require much setting up but no Outlook access either!

It is Exchange 2003. Easiest way to install the certificate is put it on your phone, then tap it. It will run and install itself. Once you do that, just enter your info into Active Sync, easy peezie! The outlook access by itself can be tricky which is why I gave you the link to that tutorial showing you how to set it up. Hope this helps.

Ok, Im now up and running on both my Tytn and Outlook 2003.
So far everything seems to be working just as it should and my initial impression is that its quicker than mail2web. The original sync of contacts and calendar etc seemed to take aout half the time.
All looking really good, what do I do about the email alias thing? Another pm request to Denial?
I will run for another day or so and update, hopefully will be running a new version of WM6 later today )

Sounds good. Glad to hear that you like it. As far as the e-mail alias thing, when you send your donation just include a note saying what your alias'd e-mail should be and I will set it up and send you an email back letting you know when it's finished. Take care!

Why would someone host their email with some random individual they've never met, and open themselves up to remote wiping? Seems like a pretty big security breach to me...
I mean, you may be totally trustworthy. But you also may not be.

They can choose to trust me or not. I am not in this to screw with people. Just like the majority of this forum, I am just trying to offer a service. You can ask any of the people I offer this service to, I am not trying to screw anyone over.

I sent you an e-mail back. In regard's to your alias, I need to receive the $10 donation through paypal before I set that up. Go ahead and setup your phone, make sure everything is to your liking. As soon as you decide that, let me know and when I receive the $10 I will setup the alias'ing. Take care.

After much hassle, I'm finally up and running, haha. I trust him. I let him remote desktop connect to my computer to setup outlook and he didnt do anything fishy. He's legit and the service seems to work flawlessly once setup. Much recommended to anyone needing good push email/exchange. I will be donating to him once my paypal acct is funded on saturday. cheers on one of the best services yet!

WOOHOO i finally got the same set up configured on one of my home servers!! windows 2003 + exchange server 2003 and i'm golden also got aliases working so now my phone is sending emails as though i'm emailing from gmail, and also synching my work email simultaneously (set up a redirect).
denial, to prevent you getting bogged down i'd be willing to take on a few push accounts too - also SSL based, free push mail

Forward email from one account through another account

I was forwarding an email the other day when somehow or other I managed to find an option to choose the account that the email was sent from - basically received on outlook email and the email app asked me if I wanted to forward from outlook, gmail or hotmail.
I'd like this option which I used to have on the iphone and found very useful, but can't seem to find it again.
Can anyone help please?

I came across what I think you mean only yesterday, but couldn't find this thread to tell you! Glad you bumped it.
Basically, you can't forward an email that received with account A by using account B.
What I found though, is that if you click an email address in an email, it asks which account you want to use, treating the link as a regular email link, rather than forcing you to use the account you're reading the email with.
I hope that explains it, but you definitely can't forward using a different account, and personally I think that makes sense.

Thanks very much that was exactly it. The probem is that you can't do that with the senders email address, only links in the email text.
can see your point, but the option came in handy previously on occasions where I received an email at work with contents that you definitely wouldn't want to forward from that account! So I would just hit the dropdown and send from gmail instead.
In terms of enterprise management though I doubt our IT staff realised I could do it.

No worries mate - glad to help.
Just a suggestion, but could you not just forward the email to the account that you do want to forward from? Then you simply remove the header from the last email so it looks like it was never sent from that account.
I know it's long-winded, but it will achieve the desired effect.

The thought behind it was more that I wasn't forwarding emails from my work account at all, which I'd still have be doing by sending it to myself.
As you can imagine, no matter how funny rude or downright disgusting a received email is, sending it from a work address is a no-no!
Again, cheers for your help. My work round now is saving attachments to storage and then forwarding them from my own address - just as long winded.
And there's always cut and paste.

i have no solution for the build in email. but if you not scared to try an 3rd party program that is not for free, you can give flexmail a try.
i just made a test, i forward a mail that arrived on account 'a'/at provider 'a' to an account 'c'/at provider 'c', using account 'b'/at provider 'b' as sender address. it works perfectly.
there is a trail version of the programm so you can take a look yourself bevore buying.

nobody genuine will ever ever ever email you for that info.

just remember
banks, email providers and so on will never provide you with your account details like date of birth and password. they have them already. if they want you to change something they will ask you to go to their site and logon and provide the details.
If you are in doubt never click a link an a mail but just type the name of the site in your browser yourself and login that way.

email: no space in username?

I am trying to setup my email and it won't let me put a space in the username field? (yes I have a space in my username - dumb work email) Is this a known bug? Anyone know a work around?

I don't belive a space in an email address(just like a web address) is ANSI or ISO capable. This would not be a bug, it would be following the national and international communications standards.

There is no such thing as an email address with a space. Try a "_" or a "."
If its a work email you may be used to typing in real names and it fills it using your company contact book. In that case you might see an email address with a space, but it is just the program hiding the real address from you.

It would be a bug if you actually had a space in your email address.

Yes spaces in email don't exist on the internet as far as I know.

I did try and it wouldn't allow a space when adding an account.
Per RFC3696 Section 3 Checking and Transformation of Names, you do have to escape it but:
"Fred\ Bloggs"@example.com should not be rejected in filtering routines but, should instead be passed to the email system for evaluation by the destination host
That doesn't mean that a vendor will adhere to it, and in this case it looks like they don't.

He said USER NAME.... NOT EMAIL ADDRESS!!!
This is a real problem for the US gov and anybody using Domino Servers. The default user name is first space last. The EVO will let you put a space in for an exchange server in the USER NAME (which is not the same as the email address) but the pop3 or Imap won't. Sprint has verified this to be a problem but some of us are looking for a WORK AROUND and not what others think they know about everything. SO does anybody have any actual useful info on how to get around this till the firmware update?

I went into setup exchange active sync. Went to manual setup and was able to type a space in the user name? Am I missing something? I dont' have an exchange account that has a space in the username to actually finish the setup, but it let me type it in.

ANYBODY out there using Domino I found the temp workaround is to go into the USER on the domino server and add the user name without the space. Also go to the mail file ACL and add the user without the space and no server. This will allow you to use the pop on the Domino server.

Maybe try some of the other email apps on the market? No clue if any of them accept spaces, just throwing out ideas...

Ya thats the boat I am in. We use Domino (aka Lotus Notes) and the "username" is FirstName (SPACE) LastName. Thats how the server authenticates.
I'll try this and see how it works...

The OP already knows what the username is... that wasn't the question. Reread.

Anyone know if this is just a problem the the HTC email client or if it is a problem with a stock android email client (IE email client on Nexus One or droid, etc.)

HD2 auto adding contacts on email

Hi,
I have have been a lurker here for a while as I have usually found all the info required by search. However I have a really odd problem on my HD2 whic I can not find the answer to?!
When I send images by mail my phone is adding on a email contact on every send. i only became aware as I received a reply recently. As it goes this person has received every image I have sent
My HD2 is a UK T-mobile handset with the latest T-Mobile ROM and a few regestry tweeks.
I am baffled and any help appreciated

I think I now know why this is happening... The phone seems to recognise the automatically added @ symbol when you go to send pictures via the album.
Any knowledge of how to stop this appearing? or removing the auto association?

Yes, but for some reason when I am in the album and choose to send pictures by email the "@" is there by default, so I have been adding emails and the @ remains, I thought nothing of it, but now see it is associated to a contact
So I will have to manually remove this every time I send an image which is quite annoying.

Well I can't send emails to the address "@", so I suggest checking your contacts to see if there's one with that name, as mentioned above by Demon_man.
That's the only thing I can think of that would do that.

Just did a search in contacts and nothing comes up. However in email (via outlook) I just entered @ and it came up with an email address - so it seems this is an auto complete specific to my handset.
Is there a auto complete list I can access in the device memory? I searched in windows and could not find anything.
I just need to figure out how to delete the association, otherwise I am going to remove all contact details for this person and see if this resolves the issue.

however upon re-entering the info it has returned. The email address is set up as [email protected] so I think because there is an [email protected] it recognised the @ on its own.
I would appreciate if anyone can add a dummy email with [email protected] and see if the HD2 picks up on this and feedback

I just tried it - created a contact with the email [email protected] and sent an image from the album to @ and it sent it to the email address I entered. It would appear that the _ is causing it to recognise the @ symbol in the email address. If you go to a normal email and put @ as the email address, when you move to the subject or body, it "fixes" the email address for you (try it - you'll see what I mean).
So I guess email addresses ending with an underscore are out!

Thank you for testing it was driving me mad!
Yes I know about the normal email that was not a problem as it does not have the @ there by default. Only when you send images from the album
I don't understand why HTC enter an @ when you try to send an image from the album as it does not really help as you have to scroll past it to complete the address!
