Hi there, i'm looking for a modern WM6.5 Ebook reader for my HD2. I had a poke around the net and didn't find much that impressed me or that didn't require installing old software. Most of my Ebooks are in PDF format which are just impossible to read in Adobe Reader!
Anyone got any recommendations through experience?
Many thanks

Hello I've installed mobipocket reader and that works fine but with pdf's you have to convert them 1st. ereader is my favorite just because its so customizable but think you've got to buy some software to convert with that one which is a pain so I'd try mobipocket if I were you.
Hope this helps

plz, i remember that there is a lite version of adobe reader, i have found once in one of the customized ROMs, any one have that cab file?
You can download the .exe yourself from the Adobe website however they do not certify it for WM5 - That said I do believe it works perfectly OK on WM5 devices.

Yup, it does work OK under WM5.
Thank you for your reply, i know that, but this is the full version which exhaust the system too much, so, plz if any of you have the built in acrobat reader in his rom, look for its version, it should be a lite version that is a very good reduced version. Thank yu very much.

Your're cruising the forum today Quite a few mb - the one on the ftp is the light edition
Is there a feature comparison between these two versions? Mbs shouldn't be an issue if installed to a Storage Card, but a faster app (especially for searching) would be great.
full version is better for small screens

Acrobat LE does not allow reflow mode application- even on tagged .pdf documents. So opening and reading a file is really a pain since the text never fits well on the small screen.
The acrobat reader for PPC version 2 from Adobe website has this feature enabled. Reflow is really useful for reading text .pdf files on small screens. For graphics you can simply turn the feature off. Although if the original .pdf has been properly tagged- it behaves wonderfully for both text and graphics.

The full acrobat version is much larger and takes time loading, but you can install it on the sd card and it runs just fine.
word search times for the two are comparable, as expected, the full version is a bit slow- (but I was running it off my sd card)
The full acrobat version is running fine on WM6.
Try Foxit Reader for PPC
Try foxit reader it is cool...

I just purchased HD and realized that Phat pad does not work on it all and even VS notepad does not work. Can anyone suggest a workaround or a note taking application with similar features of Phatpad for HD please?
Thank you.
Apmemo will do the job
You could also check out PenReader. It is supposed to convert your hand-writing into text characters. It supports different languages. I don't know how good it is or how well it works with the HD, but you could still check it out.
A link to apmemo is here.
If you try either one, let us now how they work. I'm curious too, but I haven't gotten my HD yet.
tested both
Apmemo works
Pen reader installs but cant find program..tried putting on both storage card and direclty on device.

Thank you very much. Apmemo is working right. But, it does not have the animation feature, which I need. I wish Phatpad or similar one with animation worked on HD.
Thank you all.
Thanks @staged2 for testing them both. Hm, I wonder why it can't find PenReader after installation.
@palur: What animation feature are you referring to? I don't know the program, so that's why I ask.
Phatpad has a feature to animate the pages and I created several medical animations to explain to parents and students. I can not use it any more. If a fix for Phatpad or Vs notepad is not released, I may have to return the HD and go for Omnia
thank you.
Oh, I see. And now I'm curious about your animations. I'm a medical student.
Well, I was an Omnia fan until the HD came out. Hopefully you'll find a fix for Phatpad. If I come across anything, I'll let you know.
BTW - do you have any medical ebooks that you would recommend? If so, what format do you like the best (i.e. iSilo, Mobipocket etc..)? I know this is a bit off topic here - but I was just curious. A big reason for me getting a smartphone now is to have information handy at the hospital. My HD should arrive this coming week.
Palur,
Have you tried using Phatpad with WVGA Fix?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451694
I'm also a huge Phatpad fan and would love to know if it can work before getting a touch hd.
Hope this helps and, please, let us know how it goes.
Sadly,It does not make phatpad or Repligo work.
I prefer Skyscape products better. Isilo works quite well on VGA but I have not tried on HD though.
mhh, here is phad pat working!
what exactly didn´t work?

You can not draw and create a new note but can view old notes.
Hi all,
The HD2 make, for me anyway, the perfect ebook reader. Especially with the HTC eReader - It's multi-touch scaling is brilliant. Only thing lacking is any settings ability. It would be good to be able to change font or margins and especially the background color. In most other readers it's possible to set the backround to black and text to white - this makes easier reading and better battery life. I looked in registry but could not find anything obvious. Any of you guys more familiar than me with this kind of thing have any ides?
Toggs
Gee thanks
Wow, what a furum. So helpful
I think you won't get replies because not many people use e-readers. I cant help you sorry, just wanted to reply on your last post
Hi I use an e-reader and I looked at the HTC eReader as its on the energy rom I'm using but no I couldn't figure out how to change the background either.
Gone back to Mobipocket now. Used eReader for 10 years but mobipocket just seems better on the HD2
Sorry but hey let me know if you figure anything out.......
I'm very interested in this beautiful pda and was wondering if the applications indicated in the subject are correctly displayed.
Anyone who uses them?
Thanks a lot
eWallet - working w/o problem with resolution..
Pocket mechanic has a problem... Don't install it..
That's very kind of you, I've been looking for ages for this info, thanks a lot!!!
I'm also interested in memmaid in order to keep the registry in perfect order. What do you use for this task?
until now i did't find a resolution if someone finded plase to write...
Why don't you try Memmaid? Here in Italy lots of people use it and say it works.
Memmaid or Pocket Mechanic are working fine on my HTC HD mini!
Thanks a lot! Which one would you recommend between the two? I've been using the Pocket Mechanic but since this application is not anymore updated I think as soon as I'll get the Mini I'll switch to the Memmaid. What do you think?

i like both and i'm waiting to test them better for making a decision.
Hi All,
Can any one please suggest how to warp text within pdf`s using the stock adobe reader on the HD mini.
if the different app is needed please suggest the same too.
Thx
Use BsB tweaks....In it there is an option 'Adobe reflow'...enable it...with that an option is added in adobe's view.. "Reflow".. it warps the text very nicely..i'm using it too.
Solved.
Man this is gooood..... now all my PDF`s can work well.... thx a ton.
just want to say thanks! i'll finally get to use adobe reader; irritated the heck out of me when i have to convert pdf's to other formats.
