video of someone performing surgery on their HD - Touch HD General

Hi just happened to find this video of someone performing surgery on thier HD, seemed really well done, and was extremely helpfull, just thought I'd post the link, so if anyones contemplating this, get yourself the service manual, which you can hear him referring back to every now and then and have a go......
Oh follow the links in the side bar for another video on putting the sucker back together, (as that's generally where I traditionally fall down)
http://www.vimeo.com/7623264

Reallly I'm thankful to you v.v.v.much this was v.v.v.v.useful in my position and really I don't know what can I say except thank you

There is another video: http://vimeo.com/6892707
All these videos come from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462102
And I recommend looking through that thread before doing anything!

Ummmmm, have allready done it...., went off without a hitch, though am waiting for info on place to source parts.....Specifically the motherboard, as I'm hearing whispers that this is the issue with my HD, I've posted some long winded desciptions of the problems in other threads, and it seems as though, me just going and ordering another screen / digitizer part off Ebay and whacking it in expecting it to work again is or could be wrong...?, as I said in the description, "putting the sucker back together again is generally where I go wrong with these things", so I 'll read through any and all of the info / threads I can find before doing so...., Thanks for the help....!!

Post here if you know a place where members of the general public can get an HD2 demo

This is my second attempt at this thread, as the last one was irretrievably derailed by people who were too lazy to start their own thread to discuss what they wanted to discuss and decided it would be easier to hijack mine instead.
So... if you know of a place (such as a shop) where the HD2 is available for demonstrations, accessible to members of the general public, please post here.

You have to admit that the original title was hopefully misleading, and the derailed topic was also a much more interesting one for most people.
The new (original) one is also a bit strange - which country are you interested in? Would you care if the place were in Moscow? Would I care if it were where you live? Maybe you'd want to make the thread title a bit more specific to avoid reading stuff you don't really need?
Cheers!

The content of the initial post made the intent very clear. I wouldn't have minded a certain amount of digression in the direction of testers' experiences, but it's annoying to have the thread's entire function subverted in favour of that.
So quit trying to hijack this one as well, please.

Personally I'm interested in places in London, England; but I imagine other people reading this thread will be interested in demos in other places, and I see no reason why they shouldn't be catered for too; that was certainly my original intention.
Yes, please remember that XDA is a global resource.
Please post the city and country in any replies.
I suggest a format something like:
Australia, Sydney, Parramatta, <Shop Name & address if relevent>
Right, come on everybody, I want to get a demo of an HD2 and find out whether or not I can type on its keyboard! I've never been able to type with any accuracy on a touch-screen phone keyboard so far, but there's got to be a first time!
So, where in London can I get a working demo?
I Never Knew I Needed One - Tottenham Court Road - Open 'til 9pm tonight.
I've bought from them many times in the past...
http://www.inkino.co.uk/zen/
I pre-ordered mine from there (Inkino) and they called me this afternoon to say the stock should arrive about now (@6.30ish)
When I ordered it the price was £499.95. I have just had another look on their site and the price has changed to £534.95....
Well, I was in Inkino (which is actually on Great Russell Street, not Tottenham Court Road) at around 6.30pm but their delivery guy was stuck in traffic and I had to head home before he got there. Hmph.
I'll maybe head back in a couple of days.
I had a quick play with the dummy version; provisional conclusion is that it's much too thin - makes it impossible to hold it comfortably, especially one-handed, and the narrow bezel makes things worse - you can't grip it without your fingers touching the edges of the screen. Assuming the dummy was an authentic weight (which the guy in the shop said it was) it feels noticeably lighter than my TP2, especially in the pocket - it's not just less weight, but it's so much larger that the weight is spread over a much wider area.
Went back to Inkino today (the Great Russell Street branch). They do now have an HD2 available for demonstrations. On the whole I found it impressive - fast, and the screen is very nice. The thing I was mostly interested in was whether or not I could type accurately on the touch-screen keyboard. I found I couldn't - pressing the backspace key, for example, resulted in a flurry of key-presses being detected not only of the backspace key but of all the keys around it in all directions. I mentioned this to the guy in the shop (who, incidentally, was very helpful and not at all pushy - I recommend that place!) and he said the reason why they'd put one aside for demos is that they'd been unable to align the screen on it properly, and that consequently other HD2's probably wouldn't suffer from the same problem; but that largely invalidated the demo from my perspective.

To all frequent Questioneers - Please Read First!!

I have noticed in a couple of threads that there seems to be a large amount of, shall i say, lazy people.
Neglecting to use the search function, disrespecting others who are fed up answering the same questions again and again.
It seems they can't (or are simply to lazy to) read, use the search button or even common sense
Well i recall a small little flash movie i saw once upon a time on the steam forums. After a little searching with my mate GOOGLE i found it again.
No Reason for lazy people now No Reading involved, just sit back and watch this little "movie"
Ok, ok before anyone starts flaming me with crap like (but thats about the steam forums blabla) The Information affects every forum as everyone of them also has a search function
It's a bit to big to post here, but i guess even the newest noob knows how to use a link
http://www.ptokax.ch/posting.html
Hopefully we can keep the Threads a little bit less bloated now ?!?
hmm 105 views and not a single reply (good or bad)
i must of hit the spot then looks like a few here got a bad conscience? hehe

Is it ok if I add this to my signature??
ive said this before and ended up getting flamed by angry noobs accusing me of being "elitist"
Great video!!

Nice and certainly CLEAR!
tks
indeed feel free to use
Good hearty belly laugh!
A bit before my time but, all that film needed was an old lady
at an organ and an usher with a flashlight. Maybe even an
couple of old men yelling from the balcony!
No really, it was great.
Keep up the good work!
Wonderful & Entertaining!
This is a very useful and entertaining film - it would be great if you could make it required watching with every new registration.
I believe the REAL issue is that people don't know how to best perform searches by utilizing keywords. Say I'm having an issue with my z plantronics bluetooth headset on my HTC HD2 Leo phone - providing all the relevant search terms, model numbers, etc an including "xda dev" (or other forums) can put you where you need to be better than "plantronics headset". And using googles image link can help you determine your model - a picture is worth a million web pages. My, hopefully relevant, contribution.

is this new (android os install onto htc hd2) youtube vid legit?

looks like they posted a new you tube vid last night. the 20th of june. not sure if yall seen this. funny thing is..seems you have to do a lengthy survey just to download it...which seemed shadey..but then they mention having to download HSPL first which, when clicked, sends you to this site to download..then..you install the android os..and supposedly able to reverse it if you want windows back on. they claim it's a beta but it's very stable. could somebody (whose more tech worthy then myself) check this out before i try it and make a complete ass of myself? thanks! being a new user, i can't post the you tube video address but just type in "install google android os onto tmobile htc hd2" in the you tube search bar and it should take you there.

just in case... i think its fake , hopefully im wrong
it looks pretty elaborate to be a fake, but it does seem strange. all the comments on youtube were posted at the same time (says 3 hrs ago for me) I would hold out on this for sure. But if it is real then sweet.
i agree, it would be a MAJOR breakthrough.it would be even sweeter if someone could bypass us having to do that survey and just go str8 for the download! ....and thanx for posting the youtube link. ;-)
DONT WORK

thanks TM for that thread.i'm feeling a little disappointed now...i'm normally a gentle bear who forgives those who have done wrong..but since me and everyone else has been waiting for something like this, i kind of want to rip that dudes arm off and beat him with it. if it was april 1st..so be it. but it's not.
Its a total fake, tried to comment on the video and its waiting approval looks like they are filtering out the negative comments calling it a fake.
I did some research, this is the closest thing to it so far.

17 May 2011 - HD2 for Sale (Spares or Repair)

Hey forum folks, I'm selling my HD2
]
Sadly, I dropped my HD2 and the screen went *smash!* although, it all still worked. Anyway, this blighted me so I tried to replace the screen with a brand new digitizer/screen replacement combo but I have failed. Despite very carefully taking it all apart and putting it all back together (as per the HTC guides on youtube) I've failed to do a good enough job and the screen now believes I am pressing it when I am not. Anyway, I believe this can be fixed but I don't have the know how or the funds to do it as I am going travelling in a fortnight.
I have therefore taken the v.diff decision to flog my phone so that someone can fix it or use it for spares. As far as I can tell everything is working except for the volume buttons. I think the problem with the volume buttons is that the orange sticker thing might have fallen off and I don't know where to get these replaced?
Anyway, the screen is BRAND NEW; as is the digitizer. The GPS module, battery and camera all work fine so it's an ace little phone that could be easily stripped for spares. I'm giving you guys the chance to get in on the bidding and if you've got any questions I'll answer them right here! So get bidding - oh and the auction opens at 0.99p!!!
I should also add that I don't think this contravenes the forum rules but if it does I beg and plead and grovel in a very humble manner - I only mention it because I know how important these rules are and I know how upset the moderators get with idiots and I am scared I may have stumbled into that category with this posting.
I think you're ok, just post this in the Marketplace next time, maybe a mod can move it for you.
Hi Guys and Gals,
Sorry to bother you all, but just wanted to say that I have been forced to relist my old HD2 after the last auction was won by a massive timewaster who didn't pay up and who wouldn't respond to questions as to the delay.
Anyway, I've relisted the device on e-bay, and you can find it at e-bay.co.uk and the item is ******. I hope that this time someone who actually wants it might win!
Cheers
We have a Marketplace for selling things. And we don't alllow ebay links, as per the forum RULES.

Stuck on boot logo All Winner T3

I'm a totally new to this was hoping someone can guide me in recovering my unit.
It was working fine until one of the days it just boom no longer boots into the OS.
My seller has indicated that I have a chip with All Winner T3
Since I can't get in there, I don't think I can give much info other then what's below.

Saying that I'm new somehow excuses me from any effort. Come on 'people' fix it!

I feel so privileged that people care and answer me without any effort at all.
Here's my pitch:

I'm going to say the following because I'm talking to an audience that I believe will respond to me, because I am privileged, so people will answer. Of course.

you want others to watch videos to solve your problem, is that correct?
If the unit is defective an in warranty, what does the seller suggest?
Apart from taking videos, what have you found and tried so far from reading the forums?
Why do you think posting here to get answers and then disappearing because your cheap Chinese headunit has problems and the seller won't help (because you wanted to save money instead of buying a reputable branded unit despite having zero skills to fix problems) and never to be heard from again after you have your answers, you think treating XDA like paid support is OK?
Did the 4pda guys say the same or perhaps not reply at all?
Curious. Really. I could be wrong. You're not alone. Your response could answer alot of my curiosity, having read so many post in the same way you have.
"Here's my video, please watch it and tell me how to fix it". Totally curious. I could say wtf, but I haven't.
lol not at all, I have been reading the forms a bunch here & other places. those pics you see should indicate that I opened this unit in hopes of finding some info with no luck for me..
Yes I know how this works it's a community not a charity club, however when your in need your in need it's as simple as that.
I have seen people here providing the needed files & it seems like they are all pointing towards MCU & firmware?? That is needed in order to provide the correct files.. how do you even get to that without entering recovery/OS
