Hello, I have a weird problem with Internet Browser, actually the Browser Tab is opening but when I want to Open The browser from the earth icon, it's nothing happen... it's not reacting at all, I tapped the browser, the all bookmarks button, the favorites... everything? Non of the bookmarks won't open... Why is that? From the icon on Programs folder is opening, but from the official Browser Tab - no? Any suggestions ?
I think your internet registry settings has changed, for some reasons. You may use M2DC and reconfigure by using the internet tab - select \windows\operaL.exe. that should work.
Thank you, it's working, but it's strange, because before update I don't edit the Internet tab in M2DC and it's working

I was facing the same problem, so was following your suggession to reconfigure it using M2DC.
But, in windows\ folder I found both opera9.exe and operaL.exe. Can you please advice what is the difference between these two?
Thanks!!

Honestly, I am not too sure. I believe OperaL.exe is the program that TF2D uses to call Opera9.exe (which is the Opera launching program). You can invoke opera9.exe direct from Programs (but not from TF2D). AFAIK.
I don't know the different between two files, but I try with OperaL and it's working

No problem at all. Another tip that you might want to know is that you can keep the alphabet scroll always on by unchecking the auto hide scroller enabled option (Menu/option/customize under the general tab), whille keeping the enable touch scrolling and letter navigation scroller options ticked.
I find having it on all the time useful. I can very quickly go to the file name that I want, similar to searching the contact database. Make sure that you sort by name though.

Hi, i have another problem.
I already uncheck all the hide files option in the General setting, but i found that i still can't see some of the manila files in Window folder which other people can see, any other setting i need to do to see all the files?

No, I don't have that manila file but I can see many other manila files. I don't see why this manila file has to be different from the other manila files though. If it is there, it should show up since the others with same file attributes are showing.
Sorry that I can't be of more help Alex.

Hello!
Is there any standalone cab or reg fix so you can have the name of the program under the icon in the Program tab?
EDIT: and when you go into Program from the start menu, can you move the icons in there to a specific map so you can get the program view a little more organized?
You can move all the programs around and rename the files by using total commander or resco file explorer.
I have done this to organise the folder into many sub-folders.
Thank you Dave!
Now for the name under program tabs, couple of cooked roms that have the feature in them so there should be a easy way like a cab or a reg-hack

Sorry - I meant the program view in the START menu not the TAB (you had both).
I don't now use the program TAB in TF3D as I have all the programs organised in sub-folders under windows\programs and windows\office mobile.
I use that with quick menu and it's so much faster for my many apps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3117017&highlight=secondtoday#post3117017 - it's grown since then !!)

Yeah, I realized that you mean't the ones that you access by the start menu and got it fixed, just need the solution for my main issue. Will try yours though, but if anyone know how to fix the names please tell anyway!

Yeah I know, installed it right away when it came but there were a few things on there that didn't suited me (big props to duffy anyway) so I would really like to have a solution that doesn't require a whole rom.
Can't find an answer to this using search so forgive me if i missed it.
Pretty much as the title states, i was intrigued with the prospect of skyfire so i gave it a go, doing so pushes internet explorer to the default browser (hateful program!!).
I just need to get opera as the default browser again.
Any help grateful.
in operas setting there is one which makes it set as default browser, (but i cant see it on mine??? ,might be cos i upgraded to the flash version on here????)
open opera, go to settings have a look around, i couldnt see it either....
although you can try this...
:extra:
go to opera and then go to this page opera:config
you will find alot of extra settings here to change things about
there must be a registry setting for which is default browser might be as simple as what open ".html" files
Use a registry edit
I have had to do this a couple of times now through playing with alternative broswers. I read elsewhere that if you type opera:config into the address bar in opera, you can bring up all the preferences. Apparently checking 'Browser First Time Launch' in the 'Install' section is supposed to reinstate Opera as the default browser, but it didn't work for me.
I have found the easiest way is simply to use a reg fix by using a registry editor (I have been using EveryWan which also allows you to remote control your Touch HD as well as many other useful tools: http://www.sparus-software.com/Device-Management/Products/EveryWAN-Remote-Support,43/THE-ULTIMATE-TOOL-FOR-HOTLINERS.html).
Edit the registry as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER
"0"=Opera Browser
"1"="\Windows\OperaL.exe\"
After this everything should be hunkydory
Regards,
Guy
Will give this ago, maybe this should go wiki? if it's not already.
The possibiltys that skyfire/other new browsers may tempt to install but lose the default functionality of opera, which in my mind is superb on the HD.
Thanks Chaps
Hey. thanks for all the suggestions. I did change the registry values, according to the instructions above, I did tick the install option in Opera config, and still I get IE opening when I click on a link in RSS Feed. Anyone has another idea?
Thanks!

This is relevant to my interests. I really dislike IE opening my rss feeds as well.
I also have this problem.
It happened after installing and unistalling skyfire.
Every time I click in a link (for example in the email) it opens in the IE.

Since I wrote the post above I have discovered that using the internal Opera method is the best because not only does it reinstate Opera as the default for opening links from e-mails, but it also resets the default program for RSS reader which was driving me nuts.
I did mention this briefly previously, but simply load up Opera and then type opera:config in the address bar. This will bring up all the settings. Now find the 'Install' section and expand the section by tapping the word 'Install'. Now check the 'Browser First Time Launch' box and then tap 'Save'. It will come up with some nonsense about running a javascript command, but just select okay and then quit out the browser and re-start.
I found the above method reset Opera as my default for all apps, so hope it works.
Good luck,
G
Sure this works. Any way to reverse the setting ? i.e. not to make Opera the default browser anymore...

Gisbourne,
Could you help-out on how to set my Opera as default?. I tried your suggestion on Post # 3 & 11. But it did not did the trick. I tried also the following suggestion:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila2D\InternetWidget\
"OperaEXEFile"=<Path to Opera>
"WebBrowserType"=dword:00000001
I can't input the characters "dword:00000001" on WebBrowserType, coz I got only three (3) choices either Binary, Decimal or Hexadecimal. Tried to put the characters, but my home screen (M2D) keeps on reseting when I go to the widgets.
Maybe you still have something under your sleeve to help me out . Thanks in advance.

Value data="\Windows\OperaL.exe"%1
I replaced the data to "\Windows\Opera9.exe"
Well it did not reset to home screen but when i clicked the IE browser opens.
Search for JZSmartMort, its a cab file. This will give you the option to select your default browser.
I will help you more with links and such, the problem is that im browsing on my HD.
Restore the reg data you edited in the http/command folder.
I recently bought myself a touch 3G and when I go to the "Internet" tab of my touchflo and hit the globe (for accessing the internet), it doesn't do anything. Same goes for hitting the bookmarks tab and the browse tab.
I already did a soft reset, but that didn't change anything.
Afterwards I browsed around and found 2 files in my windows folder: opera_NLD.cab and opera_Skin.cab. I ran both files and now I have some bookmarks in the internet tab (facebook, news,...) however clicking one of them aswell as the globe still doesn't do anything.
Same result after doing a soft reset.
I now did a hard reset to see if that changed anything, but it still doesn't work.
Any ideas on what to do?
I had a similar problem, but it was resolved after a hard reset. You're the second case I've read that a hard reset doesn't solve the problem, and it's making me hesitant to attempt any other changes to the Internet tab. I have previously edited the registry settings of the InternetWidget before the tab failed to work.
Opera
Problem is the opera in kitchen.
Delete the opera out of the jade kitchen en put the opera
from iolite back.
Don't use the Iolite Opera CAB as there is a problem with it and it will waste 6.5MB of your memory.
You've found the language and skin cabs but can you find a file called WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_WWE.CAB in your windows folder?
After installing the WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_WWE.CAB file everything seem to be working fine. Thanks for the help!
Little note, I also contacted HTC support the same time I posted my question here. So far I haven't had an answer solving my issue.
They suggested to download and install opera9.5 mobile, but that didn't change anything offcourse. Why don't they know the file is on the device itself?
I can't say I'm satisfied with the support I recieved...

or run direct from \windows\opera9.exe ?

What values I must set for Opera Browser?
It seems it does not work if page is loaded in "mobile view". If you disable "mobile view" (in Opera: Settings->Display>Mobile view) and reload the page, it should work.

thanks so much, I have checked what you said, that by disabling "mobile view" the zoombar works correctly with Opera browser.
Hovewer I think that "mobile view" is the best setting for most of web sites.
Perhaps in mobile view the zoombar is unnecessary .....
