Should get you set up for playing morphgear on your TP2!

Sorry. not working,,,

Got it working fine on my Rhodium (unbranded TP2) :
Install Morphgear.
Once it's done, go into settings, hold the CTRL key then click the assign button and press the key you want to assign. You can release CTRL.
To assign another key, press CTRL again then click assign, and repeat.
Afterward, in Morphgear menu select "Polling method".
You should be able to play just fine using the hardware keyboard

I dont see a CTRL button on the physicall keyboard on tp2..plz help i only got it to work full screen

I'm pretty sure "Ctrl" is only the unbranded TP2. On the Tilt 2, Verizon, Sprint phones it is labled "Fn"

Not U.S. T-Mobile. Take a look at all the keyboards here: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/2009/09/02/carrier-design-philosophy-touch-pro2/
Only the unbranded shows a Ctrl button the others are FN or Alt.

I've got a US T-Mobile-branded Rhodium/TP2, and I've got an 'alt' key in the bottom left and a 'ctrl' key right next to it. Whatever you've got there, maybe just try one then the other to see if either will work, regardless of how they're labelled?

Single Handed Input method?

I am looking for a better way of one handed use. I would wonder pretty much if not someone else has thought about that as well...
Isn't there an input method that works by just using the jog dial? I mean something like:
UP - change current letter to next one (so change from "a" to "b", "c", ...)
DOWN - just vice-versa
RIGHT - add one character
LEFT delete one character
FITE - enter
Why I want that? To have a method to select a contact for a call by just using one hand in the car...
Any suggestions?
O god no
Better would be :
Keyboard on-screen, use the jog-button to move a 'cursor' over the screen. for example a key on the keyboard turns blue if the cursor is on top. Press the jog-button to select...
then you can move around on the keyboard and 'tap' key's onehanded..
ImagiNet Finger Clix will help you

Like you normally do with the stylus on the keyboard: With the backspace key
It's just alike typeing on the keyboard with the stylus, the only thing you cant't do is tap 'start' or 'ok'

OK, Johan, you're right there, mate! I installed it and played a bit with it. Yes, I can use it with just one hand, but puh... that browsing through contacts is not really a solution for me. I've got around 3,000 contacts in Outlook and they only way to use T9 is - again - either the fingers on the screen or the pen which both require more than just one hand. I was hoping I could actuallu select the keys via d-pad...

Mapping to OK and Win buttons

Noting that neither AEBPlus or DoubleLauncher seem able to access the OK and Win buttons, are there any other methods to assign an action to double or other states of these buttons? For example, it would be great if I could assign "close/kill" to a double OK click, or launch Resco Explorer with a double Win button click. Right now, only the Browser and Comm Manager buttons seem to be assignable, and press/hold for the Browser seems fixed to VueFlo. With AEBPlus, press/hold for the Comm Manager button shows up separately but can be assigned. I got really used to quick launch on my Wizard. I am finding iLauncher to be an OK sub in some measure, given that lots of icons can show on the VGA screen, but miss a quick double-tap to launch a frequently-used program...
yes same for me, if somebody have a way to map these keys ...

I think it can be done, bit I've never had an Athena to test it on. Will give it a go one day. Will have to get a rom dump and see how things have changed on the newer hardware.
Have you tried all the usual suspects, ie AE Button Plus?

How were you able to do that? I don't see that button.
The Win-button can be displayed as an option (via Add Buttons menu). However, the new assignments don't seem to work.
The new assignment works. I select File -> Add Button, and click the OK-button. The code "4075" shows up, and I click the "Add Button" button p).
From my experience you can map the 'OK' button but mapping on this hardware key seems to be limited and no mapping to the 'Windows' key.
IRC the developers of AEbutton informed me that MS have reserved those buttons strictly for O/S use and that AE hadn't found a way around it yet...that was over a year ago, but it seems they have made no real progress in this area except for a little with the 'OK' button.
I believe Vijay is right though...it can be done...just takes someone really dedicated to finding the solution.
Bear in mind though that most PPC's have more buttons than the Athena...hence the reason why AE haven't 'possibly' done their best to resolve this, or maybe it causes to many problems..who knows?
I've done it before on other devices, some time back, but will have to investigate Athena at some point. Can anyone point me at a freely available rom file for it? I've never even seen the hardware..

I tried this, and "OK" did not show as an option. But one of the other buttons I added ended up with code 4075, and this now works. There is also an option for "Win" button but that doesn't work at all.

what you do is instead of trying to select the button you hit add button and push the button you would like to bind

X-button on the lower-right corner?

As lots of users here I suppose, I mostly use my finger for screen touching and I find it a bit annoying to always drive my thumb all the way up to the upper-right corner so lower corners x-button would be a much better solution. No i'm not that lazy, but driving my thumb up sometimes loosens my grip on the device. Plus, I think that this solution increases working speed as well.
Is there any application which can be used to put an x-button on the lower-right corner of the screen (or lower-left for lefties)? e.g, next to the right/left softkeys.
If this app doesn't exist don't you think it would a great idea for a new one? Thx a lot.

I own a Touch too, and I mapped the camera button to OK/Close.
If you still want to have the camerabutton, there's software to add short presses and long presses for different apps

Some Screenshot of AEBPlus setting and HL
(Sorry for orientation:
{The Dimension limits for this filetype are 620 x 280. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 240 x 320. } so i need to right 90degree)
On other devices I have owned, the red telephone button acted as an OK/Close button, however, on the HTC Touch, a short press closes GPRS connection, and a long press locks the device.
However, it might suit you to change the registry to map this key back to the OK/Close button.
I haven't ever come across something which puts the x button on the bottom right hand side of the screen.

Assigning Buttons

Okay, I can see that I can assign long-press Send and End keys, but I want to assign a function to the Back key (short press) - can it be done?
since i come from trinity - which had the scrolling wheel - I'd like to replace the volume buttons with "almost equivalent" functionality....possible at all? don't know...
I'm not sure that Volume slider has been mappable on any of these devices. Previously I used SPB PocketPlus to map buttons, but on the HD the poplists in the setup don't work so I can't try it...
I am currently using AEBPlus to assign the buttons.I was able to map volume up, volume down and ok buttons to various functions. But unfortunately I am unable to map the HOme button. Can anyone let me know how to assign some functions for HOme button using AEBPlus please?
regards

Could you explain how to configure to apply to on off button.
Aside from that, does someone know how to get "long" working?
It tried to give the "Back arrow" additional functions.
1,2,3 times work fine, but long does not.
Also what is the default action of "Back arrow"
I do not find it on the list? Which number
So I could configure 1 times with default action
and 2 and 3 with something else.
Home button on AE plus
Has anyone found the home button "name" in AU Button plus yet?
This thread mentioned the name for the "back"-button is "OK" in AE button plus and that does work. (except foor the long press option, that I could not get to work, but double tap works fine)

pzucchel, I'm with you! I've realised that I actually used the scroll wheel on the Trinity much more than the D-pad, so AE buttons is a godsend!
I've got volume up/down to become arrow up/down, but how about the Trinity press-to-select on the scroll wheel? I can't get the long press on the vol buttons to work otherwise it'd be perfect...
What version of AEBPlus are you using?
I installed AEBPlus 2.6.3 to enable turning the screen while pressing the volume up button.
This version is a 14 day trail version, there is however a freeware 1.0.1 version but that one is not officialy supporting the Blackstone.
Which version are you using? I find $14 a lot for changing the behaviour of one key...
AEButton will NOT stop working after 14 days, and all the functions you really want will still be there
What is the difference between trial and registered version?
Two things only:
1. Splash screen appears during device starting up.
2. "Action list" is blocked in trial mode

I just got a Touch HD and installed AE Button Plus and it works great for assigning different tasks for the button below the screen.
However I have not been able to find a which button in AE Button (if any) that corresponds to the Home button. Has anyone else here been able to assign any tasks to double-clicking the Home button?

OK, I can see that you want to push your own solution but as far as I can see it does not support the Home button either. Also it supports a lot fewer actions than AE Button Plus does.

AEB Plus....

Does anyone know if AEB works in the TP2 I'd very much like to change the buttons, I miss my scroll wheel and I'd like to make the volume rocker scroll up and down instead

I'd have made ONLY: 1 press volume button down to ''scroll down'' & long press same button to ''speaker vol down''. Same for volume button up.
I"d try make something with other buttons but unsucsessfull

Its very unstable with the other buttons...volume button I haven't tried.
Tried all buttons, but most of them won't work.
Volume works great for single-double-tripple and long, but that's about it.
Did not find any change in Menu-button or changes on phone buttons. I could not find the 'Button 1' on the device.
So, it was a great program for my qtek9000, it's almost useless for this one... I hope they will be able to get all buttons!
Besides, I'm hoping for someone to hack the zoom-slide to change it into 4 buttons... (eg. in this order: left-up-down-right so we might use AE to change those buttons)
I use the latest version on my TPro2 and it works like a charm.
No problems at all.

Now the answer did come !!!
See here :
As for your question:
At least some of the HTC devices implements “back” button scan code to generic “Ok” button. So you could just try to re-define “Ok” in bplus settings list and see if it will work on “back” button.
There are 3 situations with buttons:
- button is already in list but could be named differently.
- button could be added via File -> Add Button in bplus settings menu.
- button is implemented on a driver level making impossible interception by application-level software like BPlus.
Regards
cimber
PS : the "back"- button is assigned on the HTC Touch2 like the "ok" - button in AEBplus
