Hey Folks,
I'm having difficulty setting up MMS on the HD2, I have just called O2 and they don't support this device. Does anyone know how to configure the settings manually for MMS messaging?
Hi, I got these settings from an helpful O2 rep.
MMS setup – ensure GPRS settings are completed
· Select 'Start' > Select 'Messaging' > Select 'Menu' > Select 'MMS Configuration' or ‘tools’ > Select 'Servers' tab > Select 'New'
· Type in Server name or 'O2 MMS'
· Select 'Gateway' and type in '193.113.200.195'
· Select 'Port number' and type in '9201'
· Select 'Server address' and enter 'http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002'
· Select 'Connect via' and select 'My Work Network''
· Click 'OK'
· Highlight 'O2 MMS' and click on 'Set As Default'
are you having trouble sending MMS messages? I ran the auto setup function and I can send messages fine....problem is...I'm not receiving any!!
and I cant see any way to enter the setting manually since message menu doesn't exist.
tried the 02 website, it just says there's a problem and can't proceed....tried texting for the settings, doesn't work either
so...any more ideas?

MMS problems not SMS
Yea I got the manual configuration settings from 02 aswell but unfortunatly the options are not available in the HD2, don't know if its a HTC sense thing or a WM6.5 design change to the UI that disables the old MSS configuration settings... anyone got suggestions... I hate having one of the best phones on the market and can''t receive MMS's ;-(

oops sorry
my mms will send but not receive .grr.. least got sms working tho
Anybody solve this issue, I can send but not receive MMS on O2 in the UK.
I just use the settings that the phone sets up for O2, they are the contract settings though and not PAYG, just tried it now and I also can send mms but can't receive them, and O2 won't help as they don't support the phone.
Hi, I couldn't receive MMS on O2, but have manually configured it, and it's now working fine.
The configuration screen is found on the Sense UI here:
Messages, All messages, Menu, Settings, Options, MMS Server (right softkey)
Hope that helps.
try this, it worked for me.
Scroll to settings>menu>all settings>connections>connection setup.
Now choose your Country and Operator. Let it do its bit and re-boot.
Should be all working now.

Works for me as well, but only if you are on contract, the PAYG settings are different.

Hi not sure if you solved this but for other peoples reference here is how you can check your settings.
Run the connection setup which will create an MMS connection that you can check in
all settings /connections/connections/advanced tab/select networks> there should be a connection called *.* MMS Settings > click edit to make sure the settings are as they should be.
* make sure when you exit the network management screen that your default internet connection is selected or your internet will not work.
exit from here and then go to messaging tab on the home screen.
choose all messages/menu/settings/options.
in this screen choose menu/MMS server and then configure or check your settings.
In my case the connection wizard had a space in the server name and the wrong port selected
Hope this helps
From connection setup makesure you select to update connection setup database. It found a new one when i did it.

thanks but the connection update still contains errors for me
hence the need for manual adjusting

Right,
Firstly I hope that people have solved their issues with this but if not here's how i got mine to work.
It seems that there are two steps to gettign MMS to work properly.
Step 1: Configure the MMS Settings:
There might be other ways of doing this but this is how i did it and it worked.
Start > HTC Messages > Menu > Settings > Options > Menu > MMS Server
Select O2 UK Or whatever if you're doing this for another network.
The O2 settings should be as follows:
Contract & PAYG are the same here.
Server name: O2UK
IP Address: 193.113.200.195
Port Number: 8080
Server Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connect Via: My Work Network *
This is actually the important bit and the throwback to theold days of windows mobile. MMS' are not received over you're standard data connection so you have to specify different settings so HTC / O2 are using the Work Settings to get around this.
Send Limit: 300KB
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Step 2: Configure the connection settings for 'My Work Network'
Start > Settings > Menu > All Settings > Connections > Connections
Select 'Manage existing connections' under My Work Network.
Select what ever option is there and selected and hit the edit button.
Enter a name for the connection: anythingyouwant
Select a modem: CellularLine (GPRS)
hit next.
Now here the settings do start to differ for contract and PAYG:
Contract: Access Point Name: wap.o2.co.uk
PAYG: Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
hit next.
Contract: Username: o2wap
Contract: Password: password
Contract: Domain: (Leave Blank)
PAYG: Username: payandgo
PAYG: Password: password
PAYG: Domain: (Leave Blank)
hit finish.
Hopefully you should now be enjoying MMS on you're Leo
Missing DLL
Phoenix,
Looks good except that having gone back to the winmobile sms client as I need access to my subfolders, it seem that the dll that is "removed" as part of that process is needed to make MMS work on the HD2. Have been experimenting and if one goes back to the HTC client (this recreates the missing dll) then MMS messaging works fine.
Although MMS is not a big deal to me it irks me that I can't get it to work in these circumstances. Have chased Zenyee, who developed this tweak in the first place, on how he is getting on with solving the MMS issue but no response to date.
So anyone in the same boat who has managed to crack MMS sending, please PM me.
Cheers
WB
Ive not cracked it as such but found something interesting....I was fed up that my device couldnt do mms whilst using leo energy rom, tried doing manual settings etc, ended up flashing original leo uk o2 rom....
I have crossed reference all the settings and the only thing i find different is that on the original o2 rom under "my work network" gprs is selected where as on cooked rom gprs, 3g is the option.
could this simple thing be causing issues??
HELP
i'm also having trouble with o2 mms settings the help on this page did not help. i cannot send or receive mms. i purchased the handset from ebay, it was locked to tmobile. i've had it unlocked and all other functions (web, mail) work fine. please help. it's driving me nuts.

MMS on vodafone
Hi Gigino
Your settings cured the problem. Thanks very much. I've been struggling for 4 months with this.
Your settings were the same as mine except for the user name and password.
But changing them fixed it.
To add the icing to the cake, the first picture I received today was of my new grandaughter born last Thursday who I haven't seen yet.
Thanks again very much for your help.

Anybody got MMS working on TyTN? I am unable to send a pic via MMS. It appears to work but message never shows up. I also seem to get charged for it.
Using the same Connection and MMS settings that worked fine on the JAMin.
Frank
here are my settings:
Server Name: T-Mobile MMSC

You need to make sure that you have a connection under the My Work Network set to the apn name wap.voicestream.com.
Thanks for the response. My settings are the same as yours. I don't understand the difficulty I always have with MMS and WM5 devices. Sometimes it works perfectly like with Eten devices and the JAMin and sometimes it doesn't like with KJAM and JAM. And with the Treo 650 no problem. Must be the phase of the moon......

Me toooo!
I have the same problem! MMS notification is appearing but message cannot seem to download. I called tech support...they had a special department for "unsupported devices" (yes I confessed that I had an unlocked cingular phone).

Connect Via
The WAP Network (here is where things got iffy...she asked me to select WAP 2.0, but I told her that it was not an option. After reading her my choices we agreed that I should try "The WAP Network"....
I still have not had any success. Someone please help!
I have tried all the options in the CONNECT VIA section...here is the message I get with the ones that seem to have a chance of downloading...
: "In order to send/download MMS,the current active connection must be closed (this may affect other applications in use). Do you want to continue?"
Hey guys, here to join the fun! I was going to make a post about this, but I didnt get around to it... I can't get my MMS to download on my 8525 on TMob either... I've setup the MMS exactly as described on here and on HoFo and the same thing... I can see I recieved an MMS, but cant download! Help X2!
Please help!

Here is the FIX!!!
I have searched high and low for workable mms settings for the TYTN with T-Mobile. It took a while and it never worked out. I cannot take the credit for the info. I got it from here or HoFo. I don't remember. I sure did keep the settings though. I did change two settings that worked for me. Originally they had the port at 8799 using WAP1.2. 8080 is the one that works for me using WAP2.0
Here are the steps and settings:
Step 1. Setup GPRS connection for T-Mobile network:
Start > Settings > Connections (tab) > Connections > Advanced (tab) > Select Networks > New...
Enter the name for the profile (e.g. T-Mobile), then go to "Modem" tab and click "New...", enter name for the connection (e.g. T-Mobile Data), choose "Cellular line (GPRS, 3G)" in the drop-down menu, click "Next", the access point should be "wap.voicestream.com", click "Next", leave all fields blank on this page, click "Finish". Now go to "Proxy Settings" tab and select "This network connects to the Internet".
Click "Ok" all the way out.
Step 2. Setup MMS:
Start > Programs > Messaging > Menu > Tools > Options... > MMS > Servers (tab) > New
Server name: (you name it)
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port Number: 8080
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: (the connection you created in step 1)
Sending size limitation: 300K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Click "Ok", set this new entry as default (with a red arrow on the icon).
You are all set.
Good luck
It worked for me great. Now I have switched to Cingular and have an 8525. So I can't help if it doesn't work.

Thank you so much for this post. Before, for some reason, i can only receive MMS but can't send one to anyone. But now, I can do both without a problem thanks to this fix! Thanks again.
Guys, just got a fuze last night. Trying to setup mms for t-mobile and nothing works. Tried network wizard that gave me the same settings as everyone posting, but still can't send mms. I can receive the fine and browse the web, just can't send anything.
Any tips?
Thank you, all!
EDIT: never mind: downloaded a cab, restarted and it was fixed. weird stuff.
Okay, I updated my firmware on my PSV-M3100 to the one here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281146
And all works fine in terms of day to day usage of the PDA, but when trying to access WAP or the internet via 3G or GPRS I'm getting errors saying the connection needs editing.
Would someone running the default UK Orange firmware be kind enough to post the connection settings that come with the SPV-M3100 as standard.
I even called Orange to help but "the guy who knows the SPV-M3100 has gone home for the day" not that it is a M3100 issue, just any old Orange 3G settings I imagine?
Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.
I have tried searching here and the net for what should be in the connections area but very little info is out there
maybe this can help:
http://www.pda-friendly.net/PDA_GPRS_Settings.htm
Thanks, but I was looking for something a bit more thorough...
Settings for Orange World, Orange Internet, Orange MMS
And then the connection settings for GPRS/3G under these
Plus proxies etc.
Still, I am meant to have Orange calling me back today to help me out here, so whatever they tell me I'll document here for the Wiki.
Cheers
ok, i don't know if there's any cab available with all the settings, but a quick search on the networking forum poped up this which also contains MMS settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=224183
Thanks for those...
Orange are baffled and now my phone number is not recognised by Orange World at all, and I can't see any website sites...
I'll give them 24 hours more to fix or I cancel my contract (it'll be my 3rd SPV M3100 in 10 days - must be a record).
...at least I can get a 3G connection without it bombing out, even though I can't do anything with it.
Sweet! Those settings worked perfectly on my Orange UK M3100, just as they have on all my other devices. Shame there isnt a cab that can do the same!
Cheers,
Fin
Are these of any help?
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Hi There,
Just to let you know, you can get the settings straight from the Orange UK website. Just create a free account based on your billing and phone number, and there will be a section for them to either SMS you the settings to your M3100 or for you to stick them in yourself.
I recently put on WM6 onto my M3100, and just put the orange wap setting. Even though there are originally about 3 or 4 different gprs settings on the M3100, the only one that really ever is used is the orangewap access point settings. The orangeinternet access point settings are never touched when the M3100 3G access is taking place.
FYI from the orange site under 3G Setup for M3100:
Setting up the data account
1. On the PDA, tap on Start and then Settings.
2. Tap on the Connections tab.
3. Tap on the Connections icon.
4. Tap on the Advanced tab.
5. Tap on Select Networks.
6. Under the first drop down box, tap on New…
7. In the Enter a name for these settings: field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
8. Tap on the Modem tab.
9. Tap on New…
10. In the Enter a name for the connection: field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
11. Tap on the Select a modem drop-down list and select Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G).
12. Tap on Next.
13. In the Access point name: field, enter orangewap
14. Tap on Next.
15. Tap on Finish.
16. Tap on the Proxy Settings tab.
17. Select the This network connects to the Internet option.
18. Select the This network uses a proxy sever to connect to the Internet option.
19. Tap on Advanced… Tap on WAP.
20. In the Server field, enter 192.168.071.035
21. In the Port field, enter 8080
22. Tap on ok five times
23. Tap on x to close the Settings screen.
24. Tap on Start, Programs and then Internet Explorer.
25. Tap on Menu.
26. Tap on Favorites...
27. Tap on the Add / Delete tab.
28. Tap on Add...
29. In the Name field, enter Orange GPRS WAP
30. In the Address field, enter http://wap.orange.co.uk
31. Tap on Add.
32. Tap on ok.
33. Tap on x.
The new WAP profile is now configured and ready for use.
I did everything apart from Step 21, whereby when I wrote my settings down, the port number remained at 9201, NOT 8080 as written in step 21.
Give this a go, and see if it works for you.
Good Luck!
if you're on contract, the accesspoint is orangeinternet no password, nothing.

Wanna bet!
I have created a cab file that will install Orange UK internet, WAP and MMS settings to make things a little easier!
Hi,
I have upgraded to 20070320_RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.23.0.0_1.34.00.10 on my M3100 which works great except for the 3G connection. To configure the device I used the 'Orange Internet MMS Settings.cab'.
Once the Direct push is configured for my exchange server, the device downloads emails. The device then drops the 3G/GPRS connection and the activesync screen shows error with No connection for data.
Looking into the xml files saved from the original Orange ROM shows extra settings that do not appear in the 'Orange Internet MMS Settings.cab' file.
Has anyone else seen this issue or have more info on Orange 3G settings?
Many Thanks
Crammy
I've flashed my phone with this WM6 ROM as well. Has your SPV M3100 stopped receiving/sending MMS's ?? I've checked and re-checked my phones MMS settings a dozen times and also had orange send them to my phone cia SMS but no joy. I wonder if it is just me or a common problem with the new WM6 ROM's and the M3100?
Mine works fine.
As long as you set up the MMS data connection AND the mms server correctly, yours will as well.
There are hundreds of threads here and elsewhere with the correct way - but the key is to set up an ORANGEMMS connection in the "private" connection settings (with user Orange, password Multimedia and APN as orangemms, then set up Orange MMS server in MMS settings with Gateway IP (proxy) address: 192.168.224.10 , Port: 9201, MMS Message (Relay) Server URL http://mms.orange.co.uk/

Looks like we are having a double conversation here!! Anyway. I have deleted my original MMS settings as these were set up in the "internet" connection, not the "private" connection as you advise. I have used exactly the setting you show above but when I try to send an MMS I can't and I just get the timer symbol showing they cannot currently be sent. I'm really at a dead end hear unless you have any other ideas?? I really appreciate you taking the time out to help though.

Thanks for that, it set up internet ok (although I had to manually change the DNS servers!) but MMS doesn't work without tweaking. Anyone else had similar probs?
Thanks again,

The browser is probably not returning the correct user-agent string. Unfortunatly the operators decided to use autodetection via this string. Its a right pain because i cant access the o2 pda site either, i get the crappy wap text version
I believe the gurus are investigating it. What ROM are you currently running?

I'm currently using Black V2 with a Radio rom of 1.38.00.10
i cant send and download mms but gprs working perfect
what to do all the setting is ok
To make my MMS work I had to do (and this is translated so might differ a little):
Message tab -> All -> Menu -> Settings -> Settings -> Menu -> MMS-server -> your profile -> then the connection was set to GPRS or WAP, change this to My ISP or My work network.
its not working

What ROM are you using? I do know that some of the more recent ROMs have this particular problem.
MMS not working on Vodafone HD2
I've followed the instructions on the vodafone.co.uk site carefully for MMS server settings but my device simply fails to send OR receive MMS. This is highly annoying for such a new device.
HELP! Someone must have it sorted.
I have exactly the same problem except im an o2 uk user, cant send or recieve mms when using a cooked rom.

And the same for me on VF UK. Can't send or receive MMS. Did you ever get it sorted?
not sure about vf, but for o2, you need two data connections setting up. 1 is wap, for mms, and the other is for actual data. If you set the mms server settings to use the normal data connection, it simply wont work.
Problem is when you go to settings menu all settings connection connection select networks edit, it only shows the currently selected data connection, you cant see that there is another connection setting there. So, you need to change teh top dropdown to the second data connection (o2 active its called for o2, whilst the normal data is called mobile web) and THEN you can see/edit teh settings for that connection.
the mms server settings need to be told to use O2 active and not mobile web, else it wont work.
Just some thoughts.
O2 user - same problem
I've just come back from an O2 shop, where one of the "experts" there failed miserably to get my phone to send or receive an MMS. I share all of the above frustrations.
samsamuel - could you do a step-by-step guide to the set-up you describe? I would like to try this but I am struggling to follow your explanation.

no worries. if you still havent figured it out yourself and i havent replied by, say, monday, feel free to PM me and remind me. (I have the memory of a 90 year old goldfish)
ok, so heres what i did last time i manually set up mms for o2.
settings menu all settings connections connections add new modem
name o2 active (tho of course name doesnt matter)
modem cellular line gprs
AP name wap.o2.co.uk
user o2wap
pass password
domain blank
then, sms tab, all messages, menu settings options menu mms server new
name o2 active MMS (again, name doesnt matter)
ip 193.113.200.195
port 8080
server add h ttp://mmsc.mms.02.co.uk:8080
connect via **choose the name you gave the modem connection in part 1**
if you choose your normal data connection it wont work, it needs to be o2s wap server.
message size 300k
wap ver wap 2.0
soft reset, and it 'should' work.
Hello all, I am requesting help with an issue that I am having with my HD2.
Ive had the phone for a little over a month now, and it is a great device. I bought the phone unlocked, and it was working just fine. But recently the pass code (the 4 digit pin to use the phone) to unlock the phone stopped working, because of this i had to do a hard reset on the phone. This set everything back to factory settings.
After some work I got most of everything back to normal, my only issue that i am having is Sending MMS messages. I have the server set up correctly as well as the data connections to the internet but for some reason it still wont let me send MMS messages.
I searched all over the board but nothing i found could help me so far.
If anyone has any advice or know how on how to fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
-Jmann

Homepage: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002
Server Address: goto.virginmobile.uk
Ive searched the entire board thoruoughly, and unfortunatly most of them only talk about fixing the MMS server (which isnt my problem), unless i overlooked something
@Shum97 i appreciate that, but thats the set up for Virgin Mobile phones, not ATT
No other help? Anyone?
i dont know about at+t but on o2 uk i have to have two data connections set up. One is the proper mobile data "mobile web", the other is wap, "o2 active", and this is the one used for mms.
If i set the mms settings to use the regular data account it fails.
Thing is, when you go to settings all settings connection connection and press 'manage existing connections' you only see the mobile web account available to edit.
What you need to do to see the other is go to advanced tab, and 'select networks'.
In the top dropdown, mine says mobile web, but if i change that and choose o2 active instead, click OK, and now go back to the tasks tab, the top half now lets me click 'manage existing accounts' to edit the o2 active account instead of the mobile web account.
(dont forget to change it back, else progs that auto connect to the net will try to use the wap account. In my case it still works, but is slow, and i think costs.)
So, , , not sure if it is any help to you, but when i set up manually, (and i have done three or four times) i ...
1 - set up the o2 active wap account
2 - set up the mobile data account
3 - set up the mms server settings, making sure to choose o2 active and not mobile web as the connection.
THanks alot, ill be sure to give this a try, Does anyone think Flashing my device might help with my problem?

only if the 'connection setup' has details of the at+t network in it. connection setup for the euro leo can be found as a cab, im sure the tmo one can be too, but i suspect neither will have att network settings in it.
Id guess it's manual all the way, sorry.
ah i see, ill play around with it and see what i can do then
