Clear the address bar and type Opera:config
Select the first option Adaptive Zoom
Change Minimum Overview Zoom to 70?
Scroll down and save...

Is there anyway to set the scroll wheel so that it will smoothly scroll the screen in pocket IE, rather than tab between the hyperlinks?
It seems to do this on some web pages but not others, so I assume it is how the page is coded. But can the wheel be set to do this for all pages?
Ideally, I would like for the wheel to scroll the screen, but the joypad to tab between the links.
Is there a registry setting or something?
Hi!
I think the scrollwheel is hard-coded to act as "arrow up" / "arrow down" .. So scrolling the wheel up or down will only take you to the previous, or next link in the webpage. If the webpage contains few links then it will scroll one page down instead I think. Maybe a plugin or something could fix this, but IE doesn't have that function as of today.
Yo !! you can do it, you have to change the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\"4-Way Nav"=1
to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\"4-Way Nav"=0
but it affect both scroll wheel and buttons pad, you can't do it separately.
Excuse my ignorance, but how do you change the registry? I would find this useful also.

I made a cab that make this registry change, just install and SR.
nice one
works well, cheers
any one know of a way to implement the same thing for Opera? i had a look through the the registry, but was unable to find a similar string
s.
The cab file works a treat. Thank's for it! However I have noticed that after installing it when I open an email or text message it opens scrolled down a bit. Any ideas? It means I have to scroll up a bit each time to read it.

This doesn't really achieve what I want as it only removes the tabs to hyperlinks. This means you must use the stylus when browsing, so it actually reduces the functionality. If the page didn't have any hyperlinks, the scroll wheel would have done the same thing anyway, move one page at a time.
What I would like to do, as PaulusUK said at the start of this post, is to be able to smooth scroll on a page the same way a desktop mouse works.
An option to set the number of lines that scroll would be nice.
There might be something out there that does this already, any suggestions?
Sorry to start a new Thread if this question has already been asked in this forum earlier.
My Question:
Does anyone know how can I change ""m.yahoo.com"" to some other address, let say I want "www.google.co.uk".
Thanks in advance
Sid
Scroll along to internet on the today page, when the net has loaded up, tap the small box with the arrow on the right hand bottom corner, you will see 5 icons tap the one on the right that looks like 2 pages, then select settings, then start page,at the bottom it says "user defined, type in the web addy in there and tap the tick, that should to it, failing that, put it in your favorites (star icon) and then bring it up , hope that helps
I have already tried this trick to "manually define" the address, but it only works if I open the browser and then click on HOME icon.
But the question is How to change the address which is coded behind the Internet Globe Icon?
Regards
Sid
Mine's stuck on this too. Must be an Ignito thing. Probably needs changing in the registry somewhere.
Answer is in THIS thread, you have to edit \Application Data\Manila\InternetPortal-en-gb.xml in a text editor.

THANKYOU soo much & thanks to TechDave as well, Problem solved.
When I open Opera and try to type in a longer query into the search homepage(or any other form), when the text is longer than the edit can take, it is not scrolled. I have to click and scroll to see what I am writing... Any ideas for a fix?
You can try my User Javascript posted here. Unfortunately, the program won't work as Opera in the Leo doesn't use an .ini file, you'll have to enable User Javascript manually and use the .js file provided.
Hey, thanks, but it does not work. It only fixes situations when form edit is wider than screen. In this case edit fits inside the screen, but is not scrolled when long text is entered.
You mean vertical scrolling? I have a Leo Opera on my Touch HD (no HD2 yet), and it seems to work fine.
Don't know how to fix this problem, sorry.
Open Opera, go to www.google.com/ and typy "forums.xda-developers.com". When I type it, I can see only forums.xda-developers. and to see .com I need to select the text and move to the right.
Anyone have an idea on how to change the quick links (Home page bookmarks) default browser to Opera? I already changes the registry key for default browser is IE to 0, and other tweaks I could get my hands on.
But the home page quick links still open with PIE, not opera.
I guess something else controls how they open. Any advise would be much appreciated. I already searched around the forums but no response.
Thanks
open up opera browser - in settings switch default browser to off, save, close app, open opera again and in settings enable as default browser.
Thanks Sean but I have sorted it.
Great news.. I have just installed the updated V_jamrecords 16 icon cab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
and it seems to have sorted the problem. I can now launch bookmarks in opera from quick links.
Not sure if it is a tweak on the updated cab or that it has just cleared my cache and kicked out the old PIE url.
but it works guys..chuffed.
the joy was short lived as unlike with the original 16 icon cab I cannot delete icons 10 - 16 without tweaking the reg. anyone help me as the new version seems to be not as friendly as the previous one.
Hi all,
I am using Virtuous Galaxy v1.0.5 ROM on my Acer Iconia A500. And when I went to some websites,I found they were always in mobile mode. I think it's about the Browser's UserAgent.I have ever seen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652984
and I have ever rework the file:
/data/data/com.android.browser/shared_prefs/com.android.browser_preferences.xml
but I think it doesn't work. (Maybe I did the above-mentioned step in wrong way)
Can you help me?
And I want to use HTML5 to watch videos. Can I use the Browser with the ROM to do this? Should I change my UserAgent to "IPad"?
P.S.: I'm a Chinese student. Maybe my English has some mistakes. Please accept my apology for the inconvenience this matter have give you.
First, wrong section. All questions should go to the Q&A forum for the Iconia Tab.
Getting down to business, have you tried changing the User Agent String in the stock browser settings to Desktop? It is in settings in the Advanced tab.
First thanks for your advice.I'm stupid.I'll go to the Q&A forum to ask questions.
But I can't Found the UAString Settings in the Advanced tab.
There is my screenshots
………………Oh
Sorry,The website said:"To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages."
So,I cannot show you my screenshots
Maybe,I download a wrong version? I don't know.
What should I do ?
Do you have any other ways to change UA? For example, rework any ",xml" files
Or can you give me your Browser's APK installation package?
what? No one help me?
You should really try what monkeychef said. The option is there. (under pageview or something) set it to desktop.
If you are using the stock browser that came with the tablet then the user settings are not avalible you will have to do the following to dissable the moblie web sites and turn on desktop websites.
1. Open the Android Honeycomb browser on your tablet.
2. In the address bar, type: about:debug and press enter.
3. Now open the browser's settings by tapping the icon in the very top-right corner of your screen (it looks like four horizontal lines) and selecting "Settings" from the drop-down menu that appears.
4. On the left side of the screen, tap the section labeled "Debug."
5. On the right side of the screen, tap the item labeled "UAString," then select "Desktop."
6. Press the back button (in the very bottom-left corner of your screen) to exit the browser's settings.
7. In the browser's address bar, type: about:debug once more; this will disable debugging mode and return the browser to its normal state.
Now on rooted tablets with non stock browsers the setting should be right in the browesers settings page. I know my stock browser does not have them I had to install a third party browser I use dolphin hd.
Hope this helps if so please remeber to click my thanks button.
Really thanks
Actually, in my stock browser, if I go to settings and then Advanced, I've got a "View Mode" option which is by default "Tablet", changing that to "Desktop", changes the useragent to seem like a Desktop.
For example, if you go to facebook normally I would see the mobile page, but changing the setting like above, I see the normal Desktop version of the site.
Hope this helps.
