Tips from HTC manual
Following are the Battery saving tips from HTC manual:
• When the device is not in use, press POWER to switch off the display.
• On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings. On
the System tab, tap Power > Advanced tab of the Power settings screen.
Here, you can specify the time before your device automatically turns off the
display and backlight to conserve battery power. For optimum conservation,
specify 3 minutes or less.
• On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings. On
the System tab, tap Power > Backlight tab. Clear the Auto adjust backlight
check box to be able to adjust the backlight brightness settings.
• Use the AC adapter to plug your device into an external power outlet
whenever possible, especially when using a storage card or when using a
modem or other peripherals.
• Turn Bluetooth off when you are not using it. Make your device visible to
other devices only when you are trying to establish a Bluetooth partnership.
For more information about Bluetooth, see Chapter 9.
• On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap
Communications. On the Comm Manager screen, turn off Wi-Fi or your
active data connection when not in use.
• Tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Wi-Fi and then tap Menu >
Advanced. From the Turn off Wi-Fi if not connected in list, select a timeout
period so that Wi-Fi can be automatically turned off when your device is not
connected to any wireless network for some time.
280 Managing Your Device
• Lower the volume.
• Close battery-intensive programs, such as the Camera, when you are done
using them. Make sure the programs are ended and are not continuously
running in the background. Refer to “Using Task Manager” in this chapter for
information on closing programs.

I can only find a setting for turning off the device which I don't want to do because sometimes I sync files and I don't want the phone to turn off in the middle. Surely there is a way to turn off the screen though? It bugs me that it is always on when the phone is charging.
Thanks!
Go to Menu > Settings > Power >
Then click the advanced tab along the bottom
and if you only want the backlight to turn off and keep the device powered while charging
On external power:
enable turn off backlight (and choose after how many minutes)
disable turn off device if not used
Isnt turning the device off turning the screen off? As in throwing the device into standby?
When my X1 is in standby (after pushing the power button), I can still access it from my computer...
My touch HD has just started an annoying habit - when it is on external power, the screen dims to about half-brightness in about 5 seconds. This is extremely annoying in the car cradle as it is very hard to read.
I cant find anywhere in settings or Advanced Config to change this.
Is there somewhere i can change this? a reg key?
cheers
settings > system > Power > backlight > uncheck auto adjust andf settings for external power should show up.
thx bigf00t - i tried that before, but it only changes the actual brightness of the screen while it is on power and in use. After I adjust that it then dims again after 5 seconds no matter what the setting.
You may try settings -> systems -> Power -> Advance, you should able to find what you need there.
ok - that was definitely it.
"Turn off backlight if device not used for" was set to 1 minute. I changed it to 2mins then back to 1 minute and it actually stayed bright for 1 minute instead of 5 seconds!
Nice to know that "turn off backlight" actually means "dim backlight"
Topic says it all.
Can the screen be disabled while the phone is playing when connected via TV-OUT. I tried the lights option and it locks the phone.
install AlenSoft QuickMenu and use the QuickMenu > Screen > Close
and it should blank the screen...
I found out last night that you can BUT you need to disable Lock Screen under Settings -> Display and Light.
Then, under General Settings -> TV Out, set Turn off backlight to whatever time you want.
Hi,
When fully charged my battery lasts about 30 hours, which is totally useless! Therefore I am trying to set all possible powersaving options to the most "efficient".
I have:
- stopped animated weather backgrund.
- stopped automatic updates on weather forecast.
- lowered the background light to 40%
I believe one of the most efficient ways of getting longer battery capacity is turning off the 3G, but I can't get ActiveSync to work without it beeing on. When I turn the 3G off, and then ActiveSync, the 3G stays on when sync is done.
I only need 3G when surfing web-pages, I don't really care if synchronizing e-mail and calendar takes 10 or 30 seconds. Can anybody help me out here?
Any other settings to keep powerusage to a minimum?
Shorten backlight duration.
Regularly kill background apps.
Press power button manually after each use.
Disable vibration in setting > personalize > Vibration.
Turn off tapping sound.
Enable pocket mode in ring-tones settings.
Use short ring-tones.
Enable 3G/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth when required.
Make Bluetooth discoverable for 60 seconds only (not sure whether it saves battery)
set dim backlight & off g-sencor. it helps a lot.
I have read some types of articles there are few typical ways of how to make screen stay on in window 10, in my knowledge I try some methods but am a l'll bit confused and try some randomly which I got from some platforms youtube and many more but the same problem I'm facing now so I have decided the professional ways how to handle and Fix it properly. I need some proven ways and implemented ways.
I do some Changes like
1. Change Setting
2. Use Third party software
But I can't find the solutions, so I believe that this platform is the one of them who fix my problem members will suggest me and help me in a different way.
Seriously?
System Setings> System> Power
When plugged in, turn my screen off Never
When plugged in, put my device to sleep Never
Or, better yet, open Control Panel, go to Power Click on your Preferred Plan - Change Plan Settings.
Set the same settings as above, then click on Change Advanced Power Settings.
Set Hard Disk to Turn off hard disk after 0 minutes
Set Sleep to Sleep After Never, Hibernate after Never
Set Display to Turn off Display after Never
Step 1: Open Control Panel and select “Power Options”.
Step 2: Select “Choose when to turn off the display”.
Step 3: Set the “Plugged in” options to Never for “Turn off display” and “Put the computer to sleep”.
After that, you can make some shorcuts to choose between your configuration.

Changing Windows Power Plans regularly can get tedious going through Control Panel. Here's how to create shortcuts for plan options to set them quicker.

but you have to configure power plan profiles before in windows like written in the top post of this thread.
System Setings> System> Power
When plugged in, turn my screen off Never
When plugged in, put my device to sleep Never
Start by heading to Settings > System > Power & Sleep. Under the Power & Sleep section set the screen to turn off Never for both “On battery power” and “when plugged in.” If you are working on a desktop there will only be the option for when the PC is plugged in.

Mac and Windows PCs each have two alternative display modes when plugged into an external display: Extend and Mirror. The projector and desktop display the same image when the computer monitor is in Mirror Mode, which duplicates the monitor on the external display. Extend Mode treats the external display as a separate screen, allowing you to have various applications active on both the desktop and projector. The two settings can be changed with ease.
Start by heading to Settings > System > Power & Sleep. Under the Power & Sleep section set the screen to turn off Never for both “On battery power” and “when plugged in.” If you are working on a desktop there will only be the option for when the PC is plugged in.
This may help,
