My HD2 speakerphone is still way too loud even on the lowest setting, it distorts and sounds terrible. Is there any way to lower the volume further, any hacks or tweaks? Thanks chaps!
It is .. use search function. It was discussed two days back or so.
I have spent about 2 hours going through every thread and despite a registry hack being mentioned, someone else then said it doesn't work. Is there a definitive fix for this? I can't use the speakerphone and it is a massive requirement for me.
Anyone? This is a real deal breaker for me.
I think you need to be looking at a file called AudioPara.csv.
It apparently contains lots of audio settings, so it's not an easy registry fix.
Have a look through these posts and see if you can make any sense of it. I've never tried to be honest, but I've been happy with the settings on the phone thus far.

Good luck!

Has anyone found a hack to increase the speaker volume when holding the JAM to your ear. My hearing is not good at all...remember when mom used to say "turn that music down, you'll go deaf" turns out the old girl was right.
The volume on the JAM seems even lower to me since doing the latest ROM update. There must be a registry setting to increase the volume. I've not seen anything that jumps out, but I'm willing to bet that there is a way.

low earpiece volume
hi paragon,
I fully support your criticism about the poor audio level at max setting. There must be sufficient potential in increasing the audio level since there is the loudspeaker function available.
Now 2 people are waiting desperately for a solution by a honourable specialist which allows for an icrease of the basic volume setting.

Well, the speakerphone on this thing isn't actually isn't any louder than the regular earpiece!
did anyone find a solution to this one?? I hope it's not the old change the rom to 1.12? I'm happy so far with 1.06 apart from the low front speaker volume.
Phil
i'm using 1.12 and i struggle to hear ppl as well. i ran by this app earlier today on i forgot which site that says its the ultimate hack tool. i'll browse through my histor and see if i find it and figure out if it can increase the volume.
Unfortunately it's generally considered that it's not possible to activate speakerphone programmatically, which will mean that automatically switching to speakerphone isn't going to help too much.
I tried setting up a profile to turn the volume down to a reasonable level, and then activate speakerphone and use that as the earpiece. That way the screen doesn't get sweaty and you've got better sound straight to the ear. However, some people on the other end of the line say the recieved sound isn't so great. I don't see why it should be any worse. Play around with AGC in the settings panel. Anyone else care to report on this idea?

i found the app, its tweaks2k2net unfortunately nothing with earpiece volume... and about the using the speakerphone instead, i've had ppl complain that they cant hear my clearly as well.. is the mic also bad on this phone?
Beside the SRS WOWHD cab, does anybody know about a registry trick to increase Volume..
Thank you all in advanced.
same problem
volume?
I have opposite problem, when I have my volume up very much, everyone in room can hear conversation. It must be something really strange? I hear more people complain too loud?
To Loud!
Hey,
My HD2 has been to loud since I purchased it. I have done misc tweaks to it, flashed to latest, and the volume always bothers me. What I mean is, even on the lowest possible volume level when I am on the phone I have to remove it from my ear because it is way too loud. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have yet to do any regedit on it so if there is a way to change volume setting in the registry how do I do that the best way.. is there a nice regedit for the HD2 perhaps? I am sure I can find one in this Forum but hey any tip would save me time
Thanks for a great site/forum!!

I just got an HTC incredible, but it's crazy loud - the lowest call volume setting is loud enough that it's a little unpleasant to talk on it.
Are there any technical fixes I could do for this? I'm running a rooted stock ROM right now, and I have adb working although I'm not completely sure what to use it for other than installing apps.
I would imagine that there must be some kind of configuration file somewhere which sets overall speaker gain. Any thoughts?
Hmm, the only solution I can think of is to go with a bluetooth headset, but maybe someone smarter can provide a cost-free solution.
Has anyone found a way (or an app) to increase the mic volume? When I am google video chat with someone they say they can hardly hear me.
Snap! I was just about to post the exact same question. I've hunted aroudn and found a fair few people asking the quetsion in various threads but can't seem to find an answer, I know it can be done as I've had it too loud on other phone and they've tweaked it and altered the volume so surely it's fairly easy tweak (if you know what to tweak) to do it the other way. Probably just altering a register somewhere.
We got my mother in law a transformer and she calls us on Google talk. She can't hear us very well and we can only just hear her too. I know the speakers are very quiet but Google talk is just silly, even at full volume it's still very quiet.
I would also be very interested in learning if there is a way to increase mic volume.
Thus far I'm not aware of a way, but I too have the same issue. Mic is ludicrously quiet, only picks me up reasonably well if I turn the tablet so the microphone points directly to me (and hence, I can't see the screen).
Short of Asus fixing it, or a third-party making a fix (which will likely need root access to apply), the only solution is to use an external microphone.
Similar experience with Gtalk.. however not much of a problem with Skype.. heard that the pinout is similar to iphone.. so any iphone compatible headset should do the trick.
when speaking to my mother in law my father in law iss often there as well so headset is not an option.
Yet another thing we need a fix for! This fix list is geting longer Poor sound at the best of time to having quiet poor sound makes it almost unuseable!
i have the same problem with Fring
lets hope one of the clever bods can fix it for us
I am rooted and this was one of the reasons I did it.
Rooting is very easy to do on here now with the pure root package and I can't really see any downside to it other than it doens't update OTA but thats hardly a killer.
The microphone is bad on the Acer A500 as well. Trying to use the google voice to text is rather frustrating because it affects the accuracy of the translation. I was hoping the asus would be better in this regard, but if it's not then there's no point in switching tabs. I guess I will just have to speak LOUDER!
Rob
nobody worked out a way of fiing bad mic volume then?
The sad thing about the mic's location on the TF is that it is facing the wrong direction to pick up any voice. I too, am having issues with the TF not picking up my voice very well. I was hoping that there is a fix by now, but guess not.
voodoo
For rooted users you can install the voodoo kernel which improves audio including micropone volumes. From what i read I am tempted to root my device just for this.
Search on the market for voodoo, (and then show me how you did it

I wasn't aware voodoo had any effect on mic? Plus it has not effect on speaker volume, only volume / quality on headphone output (can connect external speakers to it via that) I may be wrong though. I already have voodoo but use volume+ to increase built in speaker volumes. Mic is still terribly quiet
Does anyone know whats up with the Omnia 7's audio quality? I've done the thing to make it louder, but it's still quieter than most other things and the quality is really terrible. I'm using Beats Solo HD and they sound perfect through my PC, and a 6 year old iPod Shuffle, but not through my Omnia?
Is it just bad in general, or is it because I'm using the RTM firmware? (driver issues?)
I read that other thread, but other than someone coming in saying that the audio is perfect on his Omnia 7, there really isn't much there. It is not my headphones, and despite it being slightly louder now, changing profile 5 on the phone doesn't seem to help.
i have the same issue as well...
the earphone volume is too low to me.
there is some solution on the internet,
someone stated that, it can be fixed by changing some value in the registry of the phone, but it seems complex.
i think i would wait for the official mango, and change the value myself.

sorry, not registry value.
the volume value can change in the "Diagnosis".
But there is some risk inside.
Someone stated that, changing the value could make the handset not working properly.
It might cause some unknown noises from the speaker even the phone is not operating for the media.
i will try to get some more infomation for safety modify.
Check this thread, you'll find info on how to turn the volume up. Just play with the settings until you feel comfortable... it's not that hard!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857304
I did do all that, but it just doesn't seem to make a substaintial amount of difference - its slightly louder but the quality is still really poor. Maybe the headphone jacks just crap in it? All I know is, I feel silly for buying a years Zune Pass.
Just play with the settings. If you set them in a 'wrong way', you'll get distortion.
I had to try a dozen settings until I got what I wanted: a boost in the volume w/o distortion.
Give it a try!
Omnia has probably some serious bug in design - whenever you initialize audio output, it generates much "white noise"- IMO quality loss is our payment for miniaturization :-(
