can anyone give me instructions on how to flash the new 2.0 rom. i am currently runnign the trojan final with Amon Ra's 1.3.2 rcvry image. oh yeah and i have a 32b
Well, it's quite easy to find this info by searching the forum, but here you go anyway.
Download the zip file
Save it to the bottom level folder in your SD card
Boot into recovery
Do a nandroid backup (important)
Wipe all data
Choose zip ... pick the zip file on your SD card
If you are not sure how to do any of this then read through the sapphire hacking wiki, its a sticky link in the rom development forum.

How did you ever manage to flash amon_ra's recovery and the trojan rom without knowing any of this stuff??? These are the BASIC things you should already know when flashing roms
you seriously should do a lot more background reading on this, because i can guarantee that you're going to eventually screw up big time at your pace

Nandroid back up is in your recovery image when you boot into recovery, it is used to back up the current rom and files before installing a new one just in case something goes wrong on the new rom, then all you do is nandroid restore. If you have the amon_ra recoevery image, then it is there. I hope this helps.

I have successfully rooted my Evo today and I have successfully backup my phone with nandroid and then successfully backed up my stock rom. I have now downloaded VaelPak-v2.2-HTC11-3.29.651.5.zip and I am lost from here. I have unzipped the folder but do not know how to get it installed on my Evo. Any assistance will be helpful! Thanks
T.J.
Put the zip on the root of your SD card..boot into recovery...flash the rom...reboot...enjoy.
Detailed sequence is generally in the OP for the rom...
Do not unzip the file!
Place zip file on the root of the SD card and flash in recovery.
Issmer beat me to it!
Just an FYI.. vael is not a SENSE based rom, so you will no longer have use of any HTC widgets.
when you say put it on the root on the sd card... what folder are you talking about putting the zip file into?

Root is the topmost directory - "/". When flashing a new rom, make sure to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.

in other words dont put it into a folder
hmm so basically your saying just drag or copy the zip file to the actual drive on my computer that is represented by my evo device? and then i will reboot in recovery mode and i will see a wipe option? cache and dalvik option? thanks so much seriously

Yep. Just put the zip on the card. Go into recovery. Wipe. Flash and reboot!
ok i am going to try it right now. what about later having to unzip the zip file and dragging specific files to the sd card to get certain things to work on my new rom? i read this somewhere
This us why you should read before you root, everything thats in the zip will be installed onto the phone. There is no need to unzip unless you know what your doing. Additional apps can be downloaded from the market or installed by a file manager.
ok it was a success. i am back up and running and it really looks great. all of my apps are gone!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what the wipe does. If you flash a lot (like I do) then get Titanium Backup Pro, probably the best app I've ever bought. It'll save you a headache in the future.

No offense to the OP but this made me chuckle. It reminds me back when i would talk people through doing a windows restore. i would get this same type of response no matter how many times i told them what a restore would do and to back up files. It was always ok windows is booted ... hey all my programs and pictures are gone! ho do it get them back.

A little off topic, but this doesn't make me chuckle as much as people who reply on a new rom thread and say "this rom is great. One problem though is wifi no longer works. Nor does the camera, gps and I can't make calls. But I love the rom so far." Or even better, "I love this rom. Super smooth. One issue though, when trying to flash it I get error at line 5 and then the phone sits at the splash screen."

can anyone help me how to make nand file when i have sd file cuz i cannot install from my sd card i need to install directly
thanks
I am not sure that I understand what is your exact problem. But if I'm right and you can not install rom from SD card and want to install it directly from computer, maybe you should try to use DAF versions ?

yes but there is only one daf version and i want to know how to convert the sd version to daf version
That's not very easy. You'd have to edit the intrid.gz and and zImage and other things to make it work. More effort than it's worth. What ROM you looking for? Is it a .zip SD card file or and Android folder type?

To the point - the fact you're asking this question leads me to believe you're not skilled enough to know how to perform all of the changes this would require.
My suggestion is you forget about the SD version and make the move to the NAND Android instead.
The DAF version is a way for Windows to put Android on your phone through the built-in bootloader onto the NAND chip on your phone. SD android is a completely different structure and you'll never find an "SD DAF" Android.
could you perhaps extract the system folder from the CWM zip, then use mkyaffs2image to build a system.img and drop that in place of the original system.img from the DFT version? (and teh same with the boot folder boot.img too, i would assume)
Or is that make believe?

Extracting the system folder from CWM zip wont work. Its because during the zip installation the updater script is beeing called and it creates a lot of symlinks. So, if you just extract and convert, you will miss the whole bunch of symlinks (and permissions, etc..)

We're limited to either SD or CWM install, are we?

Heh, dig deeper.
The op is limited to usb only so yea, in this case we are limited to daf only, and he finds there isn't as wide range of daf roms, hence the perfectly reasonable question.
which part of the original post can't you understand?

I'll assume your lack of English skills is the reason you've totally mis-understood every single thing i've written in this thread.
If I've missunderstood, it can only mean that even though it didn't sound like it, you do agree with me, in which case appology accepted, lets say no more about it.
Y'all are going to be upset with me for having two major problems in one day...especially after all the help I got just moments ago saving myself from a complete wipe...BUT
I flashed a ROM, Avatar...looked neat and all, but the phone DOESNT work, so that's like a major issue I'd say
I backed up EVERYTHING using twrp 2.5.0.2 (thanks again to everyone from my previous post), but i didnt have enough space (2gig) on my external sd card, so i saved the backup internally, then transferred it to my desktop...so now i want to restore my recovery, so i reboot into twrp, i hit "restore" and it doesnt see the recovery i made internally....i moved it off internal onto desktop and moved it back onto phone when i realized Avatar ROM was not for me
once again....HELP?
im going to take a stab in the dark here...bear with me
Do i need to put the file i made and moved off the phone back into the TWRP "backup" folder in order for it to be seen??

Getting ready to do the Clean ROM flash and I have a few questions:
1. The instructions say to Copy ROM to storage. When I navigate to my phone hooked to my PC, I can't find the "storage" folder. Any help with this step would be appreciated
2. How do I boot into recovery?
I have twrp installed and phone's rooted. Just need to know the button config. to go into recovery to follow the installation steps. TY

LOL! Sorry I had too. Someone needs there Coffee You copy the rom to your phones storage like where your pictures,Music, and stuff are at. They didnt say anything about a storage folder.
and 2. Download an app called reboot recovery in the market place
You should be cautious when flashing anything if you were looking for a "Storage" folder.

LOL I know, I feel like a total noob for even asking. I have to have instructions literally step for step or else I lose confidence and don't follow through. I'm coming from an SGS2 that I rooted and messed with for the 1st month and never flashed anything since, so I'm pretty much starting over with this ROM stuff. Thanks for the help though!
EDIT: I'm gonna ask another noob question: Do I copy just the img file or the META & System folders too?

Dude! Never be afraid to ask (but if the answers are on the website and you didn't do a proper search, expect flame on!).
Anyway, assuming you are on AT&T, you should have downloaded a file called CleanROM-1.1.zip . If you didn't get that one, go here http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=464 and download it. Check the MD5 to ensure the file is not corrupt. Do not unzip the file! Just transfer the file onto your phone - it doesn't really matter where, just remember where you put it. Then reboot into recovery (assuming you have already installed TWRP) using whatever app you like (I prefer GooManager), click Install, navigate to the rom you just put on your phone and you're good to go.
Good luck!

KitKat Write to ext_sd FIX
Sometimes when you edit the build.prop and restart your phone, the changes you have made in the build.prop are gone.
This zip must be flashed through recovery, custom recovery of course.
After flashing this, your apps will be able to read/write on external memory. Apps like Titanium Backup for example, or any app that needs to read/write the external memory of the device.
For example in Titanium Backup you can set your external memory as the default storage for backups, this way saving some internal memory.
INSTRUCTIONS
Put the zip on your sdcard
Go to recovery
Click Install
Choose /external_sd
Click on KitKat Write to ext_sd FIX
Swipe to confirm Flash
These instructions are for TWRP recovery, but in CWM it's pretty much the same.
Thanks to @TEKHD for making this for SAMSUNG devices.
I just ported this to HTC and modified the platform.xml
Should work on both stock and custom rooted ROM's.
NO S-OFF required.
WARNING :
I am not responsible for any damage to your device while installing this, proceed at your own risk.
This zip was tested on a HTC ONE M8 device.

You should add info that You are not the one who tested it first even, xseroboy - that's what you should have in your profile. Hello All,
Since kitkat 4.4.2 was released on the Galaxy Note 3, many users were unable to write files to the External SD Card. Below is a simple fix for rooted users on the Galaxy Note 3 N9005 ( International Snapdragon Variant).
**Please be advised that I have only tested this on my personal N9005. However, you are free to test it on your own devices at your own risk!! **
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission...<group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart.
