How to play music with screen off!?!?! - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

I know Windows Media Player has a Toggle Screen Off option, but it's difficult to assign a button to it when the SIP keeps disappearing when it asks you for the key you want to assign
Anyone know how to play music with the screen off?
Thanks

Try MortPlayer
Hallo,
Try the MortPlayer http://sto-helit.de/
I use this player since i have a win-mobile-phone. I use it with a bluetooth headset (headphone). The only thing you must do ist installing a little tool to remap the headset-buttons. If you do not, the headset-buttons will start the media-player or use the htc-manila-player.

My Windows 6.5 Stock rom turns the screen off automatically when listening to music, and doesn't stop it. (It used to in 6.5) - I can't turn the screen off myself or it does stop the music.

Dutty's ROMs get this right. very stable, very fast,

Nitrogen is a very good finger friendly audio player, that works also with the display swiched off

Umm, i dont have this phone yet so can somebody help.
Can't we play music with the screen off/sleep mode (from TouchFlo3D's music player/tab)???
This topic is misleading v___v

You have two options use the phones and you can put the device on stand by, that it will continue to play, or if you don´t use phnes just download this little but very usefull app, SCREENTOGGLE.

Use this one from my post.

Re-phrase:

yes, you can. at least in MOST ROMs. some chefs didnt get this right (Dutty's older ROMs for example would by default use the Windows Media Player and would have problems with playing music while the screen was off.)
However, i am using Dutty's HG R1 and i can play music (and skip tracks, change volume, etc) while in sleep mode.
i hope that's clear enough?

I'm gonna have to bump this topic back.
I'm using Dutty's holy grail r6 rom and everytime i click the power to sleep while music is playing from HTC's music player, it stops.
How do i fix this?

I use the same Rom and the HTC player. If i push the start button on top of the phone, the music stops, but if you let the phone go to sleep by it self, then the music continue after the screen is off.

Listen to music with the sreen turned off?

Hi, I just bought a HTC P3600 (S300+) everything works fine so far. My question is: can it be possible to turn off the screen while windows media player is playing some mp3s, I’m kind of new with this device, I looked on the wmp options and at the system setting but I didn’t find anything, i thing it’s useless to have the screen turned on using the battery if you are listen some music and the device is in your pocket!
Cheers!
Just try another program like Mortplayer or GsPlayer. They all seem to support this feature...
You could use Xbar and assign turn off screen to a button.
Check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293122
Great WMP tip!
Not many keys are available to be assigned (beside directional pad) but I just figured out I could use "HOLD down" and "HOLD up" as key assignments.
Maybe Im the only one to miss that !?
Yes! Thanks for your answers, i did the "hold down" tip, is great!
i also tryed the GsPlayer and Mortplayer, they work fine, the probleme is that i sync my music with wmp on my pc and all music is reencoded in .wma (it's not so bad i can save place when my mp3 are supirior to 160kbps) maby i try another way to sync so i can use GsPlayer cz it look fine.
well, thx again!
I use VJEschaton screenoff / screentoggle to switch off my screen when listening to Carla Bruni

Music on the Mogul

Ok so I never really cared about music... but my new job (yes got a new yob during a recession!!!!! was only laid off errrr 3 week vacation as I see it...)
anyway...
I now have to take the train to philly... and I listen to music on my mogul...
I tried TCPMP but I dont have stuff setup as a playlist yet....
I then used Media Player which was easy... but for some reason it kept on randomly changing songs....
the audio manager in the rom i am using was working then started acting up.. but now im trying a new rom Titan Reloaded M2D 1.4 beta 2 by bitserve
so gonna try using the touch flo music part.. has a shuffle so will see...
anyway what do you recommend?
media player was easy... and you can rate the songs.. but no way to play your list by rating....
i just dont want an ipod... I used to carry all kinds of stuff... pda, cell, external gps, etc.. now I have it all in 1... and love it...
for videos I use WMP. but for songs I use S2p that works almost like the Itouch. just play lists not too sure about.
for WMP. I usually like to put the music in different folders on the card by genre. que them up and make a playlist so on and so forth.

i did install s2p before I left for work.. so far it is cool... can turn mogul off and it still plays....
minimal features but has what I want so think it is a winner...
thanks!
Jeff
since we are talking about s2p, has anyone had a problem where it takes s2p like 3-5 seconds to load a song everytime the song changes. What also came with that problem is that it takes a lot longer for s2p to close andbring me to the home screen. I just sit at a black screen sometimes for 10 seconds till i get to the home screen. If anyone has a solution i would love to hear it
edit: all my files are organized in a nice structured format sdCard/music/BandName/Album/track i dont know why its doing it but its definitely weird
edit(2/26/09): i uninstalled s2p cleared all reg values and everything with skTools and reinstalled s2p and works fine again.
i am not too sure. I loaded mine on the card but other than that ot too sure.
Nitrogen
You can also check out Nitrogen. I really like the program and can be found on the "Development and Hacking" on the main page if you search for it.
I prefer to use Media Player. I program S2U2 to button 5, so I just start my music, hit button 5, and my phone turns off quickly and my music keeps on playing. The media player is much more palatable with a skin.
I am assuming you checked your shuffle button on media player to make sure it is not on?

[PROBLEM] HTC MP3 player stops after every song?

Hi there!
I've a huge problem with the music player on the hd2. It stops after EVERY song. I alsways have to turn on the phone and manually hit play or next to play the next sond. That's quite annoying!
It doesn't matter if I select an album, a playlist or whatver. Even if I turn on repeat-mode, the sond is only played once.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?
I noticed the same thing, and I already updated to 1.48...
There's a partial solution anyway: if you don't press the power off button to activate the stand by mode, but instead if you let stand by mode to activate by itself, it works correctly.

I've had the same thing happen when I let standby mode activate itself, also have an issue where the MP3s stutter, small 1 second breaks in the music.
Few people use the embedded mp3 player coz it's bad and very slow, especially when you have a massive library.
You should try another player: Kinoma (freeplay is free), CorePlayer, Nitrogen (free), etc...
err, starting an extra application for that doesn't sound very attractive to me. Actually I like the fact that this is integrated into sense.
Regarding the speed: I've ~10 GB of music. The HTC player handles them very well
After i read this, i tested it on my device.
The first time the player stopes after the first track,
but if you press play again and you come to the end, then it switch to the next track without a problem and play it.
regards
I have the repeat button on and it doesnt' stop!! And the built in mp3 player is better than WMP because it actually shows chinese characters properly for me... And the interface looks nice...
I noticed the music player in htc sense only looks at the music folder on the storage card, is there any way to add more folders of music or must I insert all my music there and it will automatically be "synced" every time a new song/folder of songs is added?
On mine, the HTC music player looks for all audio files on both the storage card and the phone itself (anywhere in 'My Documents'). It even picks up ring tones I've added and the 'sample' music on the phone. So, I'm not sure if this is a setting of some kind, but mine seems to do what you want, and your's seems to do what I want.
same as you
I have the exactly same problem my friend nd it's irritating. For now, the only solution I have is the use of bluethoot earphones where I can skip the music on it, but as soon as I put classic earphones it does the same problem. I'm gonna try another player I think. it's a pity because HTC player is starting to become gorgeous
track order
Has anyone noticed track order problems. I've started a thread on this. It's really doing my head in.
Same track order problem here. Posted it to HTC-support, they have no solution. Every other player doesn't have this problem.

HTC music app isn't so random

A mildly cryptic title, i know, but i think it is very fitting. I have discovered on my Leo that the HTC music app doesn't actually seem to play the playlist at random if shuffle is enabled. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? and if it's not just me is there a fix? i'm not against ditching it because i have copies of core player and pocketmusic
Its a known bug on some ROMs. After a softreset, the checkbox for shuffle is checked but it plays in alphabetical order. As soon as u uncheck it, play a song and check it again you will have shuffle back. Im not aware of any fixes (though my actual ROM --> GoaTrip 4.5 doesnt seem to suffer from this problem...)
Greets
nice one, thanks. It seems that 1.66 stock is affected but atleast it's random now and not pretending to be. Although if it happens again i think i'm going back to pocketmusic
mine works fine on random wont play the same song again till the end, and not one track from the same band after another
im not sure if this makes sense (no pun intended) but my music player(no matter which rom i flash) it shuffles the songs but in the same order (sort of like a playlist)
I use mortplayer. Mortplayer looks like windows media player and you can set playlists and shuffle.

same with mine.. what i do is i enable shuffle, disable it and enable it again.. the order will be different now
Same issue using Energy or Chucky rom's or 1.66. It's kinda boring

Shuffle Music
Most software use a pseudo random sequence. The sequence is typically the same (i.e. 2,1,5,3,8,4....), but the start point different. This is why you find that although the shuffle starts somewhere up the list ultimately you will start hearing the same sequence, especially if your music library is not very big. Some better random applications use some element of the time you start the process to create a start point in the pseudo random sequence. The HTC HD2 Manila software does not appear to do this and I too suffer the same repeated "random" music and I agree with other posters - it gets boring. In frustration I have switched to Nitrogen music player (free) and it's music shuffler is pretty good. It is not as pretty as the shipped music player, but it works for me.

I just tried this on my N7. I started Google Play Music playing local mp3's stored on the N7. I was able to then switch to the open tasks and choose one and the music kept playing. I was also able to touch the Home button and went to the home screen with the music still playing. I could start any other apps and the music still played. Not sure what is happening with yours. Are you sure you weren't streaming over wi-fi? I'm stock rom, rooted.
