I have been unable to follow the steps to unlock my HD2 as I have Windows XP and the Windows Phone 7 Dev tools only work on Windows Vista or 7. Does anyone know a way to accomplish the unlocking so I can start downloading apps?
I think it would be better to upgrade to vista 32bit if you can. Or do it in the internet shops? Only problem is the time it takes to download the windows tools. The others can go on usb stick.

Use Windows 7, windows 8 doesn't support WPDM at the moment

I have a HTC shift, running Windows 8 Release preview. However i would really like to restore it to vista.
But when i have to select if i want to restore (right after startup, where prompted to press either Y og N), the macine just boots to Windows 8.
Is there anyway to restore it back to vista?

you need ınstall windows vista business or vista all versıons.dvd or usb boootable flash hdd write rufus .go it.
Since I don't like to have Windows Vista on my device at all I wondered it anyone has successfully used USBTool with Windows 7 ?

I use Riftek PDA(Railway Wheel Profile Gauge IKP,IMR, IDK) with WIN CE 6.x...but problem is with connection via WMDC. PC just ignoring connection. I try WIN 7 in VB, but no lucky too. Please, can somebody help me with this? I need connection with PC for download and back up data from measuring.

Don't use a usb 3.0 port, try a 2.0.
Did you try to run WinMo device manager in compatibility mode for Win7?

Problem is still continue. I try USB 2.0.
In windows 10 it was once connect with HTC Touch 2, what I try. But Riftek PDA still nothing. And HTC have too problem, after PC restart.
Win 7 in VirtualBox have problem too, with WIndows Mobile and CE connect. It wrote me error with USB sync driver, code 10. But driver install was from MS Update.

I've never had problems connecting my WinMo device to my computers.
Before WinMo device manager there was Active Sync, if I'm not wrong it works on Win XP only.
I don't use virtual machine very often, if I insert a usb pendrive to my pc I can't see it on my virtual machine obliviously, you need to change settings for the virtual machine and so on. In the worst case I suggest you to install a lite version of Win7 alongside the main Windows installation on your computer

Yes I have not problem too, but last 2 update make big problems with WMDC under Windows 10. Only solution what I see is, found old NB and run Windows 7/8 on it.
Or is it possible run Win CE 6.x app from this PDA on WIndows Mobile device with WIndows 6..1/6.5? I try it, but i got error. But I think it with little editing it is possible run it. But how?
