Im trying to alter a few registry entries but am unable to as everytime I try I get an Access Denied error. Have tried using ceregeditor to unlock it but it does not work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PHM Registry Editor
Hello
This may sound mad nut I did install PHM on my laptop and I could not for the life of me find where it installed. In the installation folder was only the setup.exe and some other dll I think files.
I use Resco Explorer with Registry addin and it works like a charm, but you have to make the changes on your HD2 itself.
I used CERegEditor (mdSoft/PC) to unlock, myself. (Tools->Unlock registry)
There are other ways, but I don't remember them.
Dotfred Task Manager can do it too. I usually use ceRegEditor to find the locked entries. Export them to *.reg for editing. Then import them using Dotfred.
I used the unlock option in ceregeditor and it comes back with the message saying registry unlocked. Funny old thing is that it is not. Still get the access denied message after unlocking.

Ive been looking for a while on this forum and wish to edit my registry to fix my camera etc..
The reg settings are no prob.. but could somebody please explain to me exactly what i need and how i go about editing the reg.
There was a a .cab file posted that told me to "put this on your phone then run it"(to fix the camera)
how do i run those files?.. i cant seem to find a file manager of any sort on my phone and active sync, although it lets me see the files, will not let me run them.
Any help anyone could give would be great.
I know this will be pretty simple for most people here, but ive only had this phone for 2 days and cant find any simple step by step instructions for doing things like this anywhere.
Check out gsfinder+ as a great free file explorer.
Check out PHM Tools for a free registry editor (there's another as well, called TRE I think).
I use Klimst (?) registry editor. Many people will recommend Resco or Total Commander to do both of these functions.

Apologies in advance if this is a basic question, but I didn't see this on a casual search.
Can one decertify a HTC Wizard, where it can run any program, not just ones signed by T-mobile's certificates, without needing to re-flash?
Would Resco Explorer's registry editor be able to edit the values setting it to execute any program? (Changing the value contained in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a to 1 basically)

Hi All,
I'm trying to make some registry changes on the Mogul and when I save the changes all is ok until I soft boot and then they go back to their default values. How can I prevent this?
I am also trying to save a file in the \Windows directory and it's giving me an access is denied message, how do I unlock this directory?

Which registry editor are you using?
Try using Resco explorer and registry editor pluggin:

Which registry key(s) are you trying to edit? Some keys don't get saved or get reset no matter what upon reboot.
Try this:
In [HKLM\System\ObjectStore] is a reg key "RegistryType=1", which means Hive based registry.
When you set it to "RegistryType=0", which means FILE based registry, all changes you do in the registry will stay there also if you reboot with device's reset button...
BUT AFTER YOU CHANGE THIS VALUE, FIRST REBOOT HAS TO BE DONE WITH SOME SOFTWARE, NOT WITH THE RESET BUTTON.
Subsequent reboots can be done with reset button then.

Great tip, even after a year since you posted it . Couldn't get rid of the default t-mobile -MDA Vario III aka kaiser- settings (PIE homepage e.g.), but you helped me out on this one
Hello all. I have tried to make the registry change (In [HKLM\System\ObjectStore] "RegistryType=1") to "RegistryType=0" mentioned above. That worked fine but I still can't save a change I'm trying to make. I bought MS Voice Command and was told to change the [HKLM\Software\OEM\Voicecommand path to \Program Files\MS Voice Command\voicecmd.exe. I can't seem to save the change. I have used several different registry editors including PHM, Resco and CeRegEditor. The displayed path (\Windows\SDDialer.exe) will not update. I'm using a Verizon XV6800 with WM 6.1 and the Verizon MR-1 update. Any ideas?

How can I do registry changes?
I DO have mobile registry editor installed, and it connects to Polaris fine!
But whenever I try to create a new Key, it says "acces denied" (or the equivalent in german actually).
Also I tried to copy a chinese wince.nls file to the windows folder and I couldnt because it said I didnt have the authorization for that..
what is the problem??

I use the PHM Registry Editor. I don't have any problems so far.

I noticed that every time I tried to modify the system files via ActiveSync/Mobile Center I got an error message (I'm not allowed to blablabla...). That's why I installed the programs above so that I can modify the files directly with my mobilephone.

When i was trying to fix my sms-no-sound registry edit, it said "access denied, try again." This is a first for me, i used the registry editor on my shadow and it never did this. help please
which program are you using to edit the registry?
I use the one included in SK Tools, and works nice.
I use CeRegEdit
Try using another, like the one included in SKTools, or Total Commander, etc... If another programs can't, let me Know, and I'll check por permissions and stuff.
