I was wondering the same too. I know the post is old, but as I managed to install WM6.5 on an ipaq hx2490... actually I think it is a matter of drivers
If you want android, you will compile Linux Kernel for your phone (needs PC running Linux). But if you aren't a programmer, I recommend you - don't try, you can crash your PC and phone.
How can I intall WM6 in english on my HP iPAQ hx2490b ?
I specify that I don't have a rom of WM6.

There is no public / beta / test Android ROM for hx2000 Series iPAQs.
You can't get Android so easily. And if your friend doesn't know how he got it. I don't think it's real - maybe he is using some Android skin over Windows Mobile.
