does any know of any good 6.5 roms for xv6900
Best wm 6.5 roms
You can try any of NFSFANS roms theyre pretty good and he has like a tutorial on how to install them, im guessing you have the CDMA touch so make sure you get the correct cab so you dont brick your phone.
yes its verizon
any links?
Here is his latest build. VERY fast and stable. Everything works perfectly. Enjoy!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487
help i installed it, everything went fine but when it restarted it just stayes on the verizon bootscreen and wont let me do anything
did you run the unlocker first?
first run
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
RUN THE 2.31 UNLOCOKER. NOT THE .41!!!!
follow directions on screen. then... your good to go to have any rom. MAKE SURE YOU PLUG AND UNPLUG WHEN YOUR SUPPOSED TOO.
then. flash the nfsfan's rom.
to check if you've unlocked it. put it into bootloader (power camera reset hole)
if you have verizon (you said it was verizon) then flash the latest verizon radio first im pretty sure its still 3.37.78 you can do that by searching the verizon wireless page and looking for updates for your vogue.
while flashing be sure not to let customizations run....... if you want to use the GPS in the future without going through hell to get it working again
then flash nfsfans latest rom

here you go.

thats the entire rom though. so if you used the wrong bootloader this should fix it.
GPS
Not to start another thread, but I STILL can't get the damn gps to work. I have NFSFAN's latest rom. Still no GPS. I have followed every guide I can find. I have radio 3.42.30
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533639 worked like a charm
Where do you get this?
Verizon GPS setting Cab by NSFAN
Every time I click on the download, I get an invalid attachment specified.
Thanks....

Sorry I didn't search guys... But real quick, what is the latest Titan ROM & where can I get it? I'm currently running the old 2.14 ROM. What are the advantages of upgrading to the new one? Excuse my noobedness... lol
Oh, my provider is ALLTEL by the way...
Latest ROM
Well the latest TITAN ROM is Sprints 3.35 available at the HTC America page, but if your looking for something to work with alltel you'll have to go see whats been cooked up by folks like DCD or NEX....

Check the Titan Upgrades forum for all the information you need.

I really shouldn't do this since I'm a Sprint guy but it doesn't look like there is much Alltel help around here. The steps are fairly simple ( make SURE you double check on the upgrade threads)
1. Write down all your phone info (MSID, etc.) in case you need to reprogram the phone later.
2. Upgrade to the latest Sprint ROM (this is basically to get the new Radio with GPS capability)
3. Load SPL 2.40-olipro bootloader (Extremely important! - DO NOT attempt to load a custom ROM without this bootloader installed)
4. Load any Custom ROM you want (most Custom and Kitchen ROMs will have an Alltel specific ROM)
Enjoy.
(just to be safe, if you are running Windows, I'd do this on a XP machine.)

GPS will work w/o a data plan - it is a separate chip, no need for Wifi either. Many threads here on GPS activation.
This is a good starting point:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470418
I'm currently running DCD 3.3.4 and Radio 3.42.50. You will need to know what version of WinMobile you are starting from - if it is Verizon's latest 6.1 (MR1) the instructions are different then if you are starting with WM6.0. Refer to the thread above and that should get you started...
Yes I believe I have read most of the threads and followed the instructions to the letter. Using Google maps I get 0 satallites and occasionally will get a no GPS found.
I am running WM 6 MR1 on a stock verizon vx6800
Look here about getting GPS working without data(standalone GPS). I talk about the steps in the thread below. It requires you to flash a custom ROM like DCD.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52683
the post I followed said update to MR1 then use the VahallaGPS....using the WIKI instructions her (the MR1 at bottom of page)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
DO NOT DO AGPS FIX. This will not work for standalone gps. Follow my above posted link. Verizon MR1 locks out standalone GPS so. You will have to reflash to old stock rom then to a custom rom then change gps settings. Trust me I tried to make it work for a long time.
rats...that's what I get for following directions (hehe). So can you recommend how I can save all my settings and whatnot? I just got it back to where I want it with my custom sw HTC home Ultimate Launch etc.
LVC
Not sure how to back things up since you will have a different ROM on the phone I don't think there are any backup options. But I could be completely wrong.
Well i am a complete noob and flashing a custom rom scares me a bit...Would you say that it is safe and fairly straightforward? Is it worth it just to get GPS working?
Thanks for all your help.
I love GPS with Navizon and Garmin XT. Yes it is worth it. Using a well tested ROM like DCD 3.3.4 is safe. After you relock the phone with the old stock Rom then just follow a good unlocking thread like here.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33857
Just ignore the cooking your own ROM and install DCDs. Follow DCD instructions here ignoring the 3.2.6 download and downloading 3.3.4 or his new 4.1.0.

I have a Telstra branded HD and wanted to know if anyone has tried flashing the ROM on one of these to a standard ROM?
If so, which one did you use to flash the ROM?
Not that I know anything about flashing ROM's and the phone is only a day old so I am a little worried about trying it.
The first thing I suppose.....is there anyway of backing up the ROM and anything else needed to return the phone to a Telstra branded ROM for warranty purposes if required.
I am at my wits end with this phone in it's current form as I am trying to run it with a vodafone SIM, so all the Telstra shortcuts and websites don't work anyway, that and the Telstra tab seems to replace the weather tab with the current ROM.
I suppose I had better see if I can search the forum for instructions on flashing ROM's for dummies....anyone know a good thread?
Flashing a ROM is not difficult its flashing an spl that is scary(since if you mess up or if your device shuts off while its in the process you have a brick in your hands now, with a rom all you need to do is try again.), also if you want it to be at stock condition if you want to revert back to the original ROM, then use USPL, doesn't change the spl. You have to dump the ROM from the device and then you save it some where safe, then you flash a ROM of your choice. Its not that hard to initiate the process though, since its basically the same for all the devices, if you search around here on the forum for a guide then that should do you some good , but since I am nice here are some useful links.
Guide to flashing:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Flashing Guide
USPL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347
HSPL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
List of cooked ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464463
Awesome, thanks for that, I am off to do some reading, one quick question...
On the first guide it says I need to CID-unlock the phone, it that what USPL and HSPL can do for me?
Yea, you don't have to cid unlock since its not available for the Blackstone yet.
Just HardSPL'd my Telstra BLAC120?
I've just used HardSPL on my Telstra Touch HD which is a BLAC120? Is it safe to continue flashing ROM's or can I somehow go back to the original SPL? Then use USPL?
The phone is still in working order after the HardSPL Flash.
Cheers,
-Lucus
HSPL is perfectly fine, but if you want it to be like stock(for warranty purposes), just use USPL to flash the original spl back. You are perfectly fine how you are Lucus Maximus.

This is making my head spin.....been reading and downloading and I am getting very confused, once it all falls into place I am guessing it is going to be easy.
Right I would like to dump the existing ROM and flash with a new one....I need to confirm the steps and what is required.
CID-Unlock the phone, from what you said I don't need to worry about this part
1. Run USPL - have downloaded v2.4...should be good to go
2. What is RUU Update as it mentions it in the instructions for USPL
3. I am guessing at this point I need to backup the existing ROM, not sure how this is done
3. Then the guide says to download the new ROM and run the exe and follow the steps.....sounds easy enough
Some of the guides don't really explain much.....anyway I am thinking of giving it a go.
So do you flash radio's and splash screens using the same method.
Sorry for all the questions (I am guessing you have heard them all before, but I can't find a thread from a ROM flashing virgin like me with all the info), I have been reading, but gets a little confusing after a while.
Ok, RUU update is just the .exe file to use the .nbh(rom file) so it can start flashing.
Hmmm. . . . . .if I had any htc device right now I would make a video guide. . . .
It takes like 2 times for you to get used to flashing a phone, don't worry we have all been there .

Thanks for that....right now to go and find myself a new ROM.
Just out of interest, which ROM did you use Lucas?
Been looking at this.......
Dutty's ROMS
What is the difference with these:
HD V1.7 5.2.20769.1.4.5 Full CVSD WWE
HD V1.7 5.2.20769.1.4.5 Full MSVC WWE
I am yet to work out all this ROM talk......I am guessing WWE is the English version, but what is "CVSD" & "MSVC"
Oh and how do I work out what radio version these ROMS use to make sure it is the same as the one I have
When you turn on your device, look at the red R and see what it says, then when you flash a ROM with a different radio, just re flash yours.(same process as flashing a ROM but easier, and there are different radios available to DL).

FAQ: What are CVSD and MSVC.
Solution: CVSD is Cyberon Voice Speed Dial which is mostly the default voice application in most shipped ROMs. MSVC is Microsoft Voice Command which is an advance voice application from MS.
I tried Black Pearl, but most things I've read are saying that Dutty's is the best, so giving that a go now.
As long as I can get all the telstra site settings working I'll stick with it otherwise it's back to the Telstra ROM untill I can find out a way to get it all working.
-Lucus
Too easy, flashed the ROM to Duttys v1.7
Now to go and find all the missing ring tones and stuff, I think I saw something in a thread about Dutty having extra cabs to install this stuff...
I would recommended this to anyone who is trying to run the Telstra branded HD on anything other than the Telstra network.
Getting there now, I have managed to download all the ringtones and stuff, so I have more than the 3 ringtones supplied with the ROM
Where is this MSVC that is supposed to be part of the ROM???
Off to search some more and see what other software I can find.
This has made the Telstra branded HD a lot better, all Telstra branding has gone, including splash screen and the phone actually works now, can get POP3 email, Internet, Exchange email etc without an issue.
The first thing it did was set the phone up for the correct Network as soon as I put in the SIM and powered it up....great!
Well I was really pissed off with the HD with all the Telstra branding and was at the point of returning the HD and going back to the iPhone, but now things are starting to look up......we will see how things go.

Yep, all you needed to do is change the ROM, you didn't need to return anything. It was just the shipped ROM that's all.

I downloaded the MSVC version, but can't see the application
great info here guys, just got my HD the other day and dislike all the Telstra branding. one question though before I begin changing ROM's, did you guys finally end up getting the weather tab to work, or the "customize tabs" option in the settings tab?
cheers,
Ditto! Can someone pls confirm Dutty's ROM has weather+stocks tab etc? And can someone who downloaded the Telstra ROM off HTC please mirror it somewhere? (attach here or mediafire it etc). Or if anyone has an official Blackstone rom from another region that would be good too... many thanks!
Hey folks, here from the Herald forums for a friend of mine. What has happened is this, I went ahead and flashed his phone from the stock WinMo 6.1 to NSFAN's 6.5 version 13. Now before I did this he of course had data capability, but now for the life of me I cant get them working again. I applied the Sprint provisioning cab from the ROM thread, aswell as following the instructions per this thread here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-410357.html), and neither of them work. So my question is this, can either someone point me to a thread with the exact settings or instructions on how to get the data settings for Sprint that will work under WinMo 6.5. Thanks much!
Device-Sprint HTC Touch circa 2008
ROM-NSFAN's custom WM6.5 version 13
HardSPL'd or whatever it is you do to CDMA devices...yeah sorry im used to GSM stuff so I dunno what you all do. But I followed Cokeguy's guide to unlock the CID I believe so I guess thats as close to HardSPL as you get on this thing heh.
And of course application unlocked.
Try not using any provisioning CABs. Just flash the ROM and see if it works from there (works fine for me and I am using a Vogue on Sprint).
Well that was my first thought, and I both hard reset and re-flashed and I still got nothing. However, I went back to the stock Sprint ROM, and then re-flashed and everything is cherry now...I don't really understand why...but it is. Thanks for the reply anyways!
I know absolutely nothing about rooting, radio's and flashing ROM's... But I feel compelled to root my phone an run a custom ROM. I'm a bit (a lot) afraid to screw up my phone like I've read a few places that people didn't have signal cuz of the radio they installed!
I know that there's no Telus official ROM and whatever RUU is, available so what can I do to unroot and go back to what I use now as rom and everything else???
Anyways, what's the worst that can happen once rooted???

You've probably lost your APN settings. Two things you can do here.
1) Search for the APN settings for your carrier, or post your carrier in the forums and someone will post them for you. (Although, I'm assuming you're on Telus... give me a few minutes and I'll find a thread with the Telus APN settings.)
or 2) Now, install a custom Recovery Image (Amon's Recovery 1.6.2 can be found in the Hero Android Development forum), then flash a custom ROM which includes a large APN list. Although, AFAIK, Telus isn't included in any of the custom ROMs... so you're back at step 1.
EDIT: Here are the Telus APN settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4897152&postcount=14
You can edit them from Home -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
(At least that's how you do it in an Eclair ROM... I forget the exact menu items for a Cupcake ROM.)

You know what, after all the custom ROMs i installed, i never had the APN re-configured, however, with the last 2 i installed (BeHero and Villain5.2) after the initial setup, i power cycled the phone (pulled out battery for 2mins) and the APN got pushed back to the phone.
Anyways, its always handy to have that APN written down but im starting to think after the phone gets registered, upon a reboot it gets pushed to the phone!

And about if you ever want to unroot, just install an official RUU. Telus will release an official one when they release 2.1
I wouldnt do it, because we don't know how hard/complicated its going to be to root a device using 2.1 yet. Once the official rom is released, its gonna be a question of hours before a Dev will release a new build with the ''official'' base software to make it a fully functioning rom

Get VillainRom 5.2. It's running 2.1 with Sense. So far it's the best 2.1 rom out there. It will get laggy at some times, bear with it, they all do. Because the current 2.1 rom don't have the correct kernel and that will come with the official release.
