Hi does anyone know if it is possible to play DRM tracks on the HD2? I get 5 free music tracks every month from my provider but they are wma files with DRM.
I've just choose a track and it downloaded fine and opened in Media Player but then it tried to accuire the licence and failed. It took me to Microsoft to download a full version of WMP.
I thin you can as I found DRM license data in the HDA root a few days ago - try it?

Hello All,
Ever since I got my MDA my old Toshiba e800 has been used less and less. However I do use it when traveling for media (bigger vga screen).
I like WMP 10. But it is not available as a standalone download from MS. And my Toshiba only has WMP 9. Is there a way to extract the installation file from the Wizard ROM so that I can install it on my Toshiba?
Thanks
PS...Or is there an alternate media player out there that has the 2 main features I want from WMP 10? I like the library (it is very similar to the one used in the desktop version of WMP 11). And showing album art for each song played.
Thanks
So basically I have been using Mortplayer with the Vista theme (looks like WMP11 desktop). But I really don't like the way mort player organizes, or rather allows access to, your music. It is very confusing. And I want my Girlfriend to be able to use it with little fuss (she is not very technically inclined, nor does she want to be)
WMP 10 has the same library structure as WMP Desktop 11. She is already comfortable with that "Type" of structure...i.e. Access by:
All music or
Album or
Artist or
Playlist or
Genre etc...
I assume that I what I asked above is either not possible, or is a big no-no (extracting WMP 10 from Wizard Rom).... So....
Any ideas what to do here?
Thanks
Ok, well never mind here....WMP Mobile 10 will not play nice with a networked folder..... iT works fine for traveling but as soon as we want to use it around the house browsing our large networked media drive it shows it's limitations.
Back to mort player...Thanks any way
I've read a lot of good stuff about synchronizing the Windows Media Player 10 with the HTC Tynt (WM6). However, I do not seem to be able to view the nice album covers which i can see on my desktop PC.
Do I need to download some special skins to do this for the mobile media player???
regards,
This works effortlessly and without any "special" steps for me. Although I am using windows media player 11 for the Desktop. What is your entire process for placing and playing files? Are you doing the following (which I do personally)
1) Sync music under windows media player itself, not copying files over through explorer.
2) On Pocket Windows Media Player, update your library via menu
3) Under pocket windows media player, play your music through the library itself, as opposed to individually through file explorer.
Yes, exactly how I do it. The music is synchronized and plays well but the main media player screen does not show anything except the usual stuff like title, rating (stars)...
I also use Windows Media Player 11 and on the PC, I can see the album cover without problems.
Just tried it again and once again it worked fine for me. What rom are you using?
Everytime I try to open up music through the windows media player I get a message- Windows Media
! an unexpected error occurred.
I reset Windows and that did not work then I upgraded to Mibil 6 and that did not work. The only way I can listen to music, I open Windows media then I have to go to the menu button and Open File... thenpick the folder then play. This allows me only to play one folder at a time I can not play random music.
I appreciate any help Bob K
media player is almost certainly the worst media player on ppc for music. use mortplayer or htc audio manger, there's many more but i think these 2 are by far the best. they have many, many more features, especially mortplayer, and use less RAM usually.
thy're both easily available and free, and mortpayer is skinnable (do a google search)
Hi
I'm using the Touch IT-HD ROM on Xperia. I've got a 7 day trial of Napster to Go and have downloaded a few tracks to the phone. The tracks are, I believe, protected by Janus DRM.
When I try and open the songs in Windows Media Player Mobile I get the error message:
"%1 is not a valid Win32 Application".
Subsequently I can't launch anything else other than the Settings folder (which has some icons missing). Trying to launch anything else gives me the message:
"... is not a valid Pocket PC application".
But then if I play an MP3 (WMP has stayed open) then everything starts working again.
Almost the same thing happens in the TouchFlo music player other than that I don't get the first error message and the DRM music actually plays (everything else breaks again though). Anyone have any idea why, anyone using Napster with a standard ROM Xperia?
sorry to bump this but it's doing my head in...
hi,
I am using Napster with X1 but never had issue like you described
Sorry, can`t help you further
Hi Guys...
I'm struggling here, I've surfed the wiki, the FAQs and the web and these seems as though it should be simple but...
I've tried (a) dragging and dropping into the device music folder and (b)importing through syncing with my PC's WMP 11 both with equal success - none to be exact. I can see the name of the file but it won't play.
I've treid some MP3 ring tones and they work OK but I can't listen to those on the tube each morning. Mearly all my music is in iTunes as M4A's which are stated as being compatible and supported - but they don't play.
Any idea's, am I missing CODECs ??? Anyone got an idiot guide for getting music out of iTunes into my HTC ???
Thanx for your help as always...
This one puzzles me.
ALL my music on the HD is in M4A format (because it seems more space-efficient than MP3). It plays no problem with the unbuilt players.
My files weren't from iTunes though. I make them using the Nero codecs on the PC.
m4a from iTunes on touch HD do not work
Hi out there,
I am facing the same problem, I can see my m4a files on the Touch HD but they won't play. After converting them into mp3 it's fine but this is a hassle and the instructions say it can play m4a. Any news on this would be highly appreciated.
The songs are iTunes + and thus DRM free, so this cannot be the problem.
Thanks for sharing any advice,
cheers,

Hey guys,
I had this problem aswell since I copied my iTunes directory to my SD card. I decided to buy some music player software for my phone since I use it alot so.
Now I'm using Pocketplayer and I've had no problem since .

WMP 11 and m4a files
I too am having the same problem. My files are from iTunes and DRM free but they will not play. I believe the problem is that the ROM I have is using WMP 10.3 and only has a WMP 11 skin. I have not found a way to 'upgrade' WMP to any other version..

Try to create an AAC-version...
Hey... I had the same problem: My bought, DRM-free iTunes Plus files did not play on my Touch Diamond2 even though all metadata - including coverimages - showed up nicely in the TF3D Mucis app. After a little research in here, I tried to use the "Create AAC version" option in iTunes and PRESTO - all my music was playable again. I suppose this is due to some incompatibility with the wrapper Apple uses around m4a-files.
If you want to keep track of which files are "originals" and which are AAC-converted versions you can create a smart playlist in iTunes and select by type...
core player have no problems playing any m4a files I got both own conveted and itune bought mind you non drm
and even if one got drm files one can convert them to non drm without any problems using itunes now that apple drop'd drm
I use coreplayer to play both m4a and m4b files. Yes I know its not free, but its well worth it IMO.
