Does anyone else clock have a strange glitch where by, when you first turn the screen on and unlock it. The clock reads 62 mins slow then flips to the correct time immediately.
My friend pointed it out to me. I never noticed to be honest but he has a Hero and because it's quite a lot of a slower machine it is really noticeable.
Maybe it's just a 'feature' to make you realise that the clock numbers have a nice animated flip
Yeah I have it also. I assumed it was the HTC developers showing off their animations.
Nothing to worry I thought

Spot on. It's meant to be eye candy.
There is a way remove this feature: [MOD] Disable 01:02 clock flip in Manila 2.1 and 2.5

Does it bother anyone else that whenever you switch back to the home screen, the clocks reset the hands and do the little animations to spin to the correct location? The flip clock does it like it used to in TF3D too, the numbers flip over until they catch up. It seems such a waste of time and cpu cycles. I've tried the default Android clock and it is much calmer, it is always at the correct time regardless of whether you switch back or not. The down side is it isn't as attractive and doesn't take you to the clock app when you press on it.
Anyone else annoyed by this?
Indeed I find it a little annoying...not tried the different clock....
one question, are you able to change the type of clock on your profile?
I seem to be only be able to select different front clocks under different profiles (Scenes) so you are stuck with that clock for that scene?

You can just remove it, then add an HTC Widget and select 1 of 12 clocks (think its 12)

Genuie!!!!! Thanks dude!!!
I also found that when I changed my clock to the small one (so it still fits in the same space on the home screen), my Hero became much more responsive. It still adjusts the time with an animation every time I go to the home screen, but it seems way better. Others have suggested removing the People widget, but for me it was just a change of the clock.
Bugs the hell out of me, so much so I had to remove it.
Hope the new update fixes this problem.

I like seeing the clock flip over! I'm sure it does it by design too, it's not a fault/bug.

It is a fault, the clock widgets can't store the time. So everytime you enter the idle screen it updates the clock.

I don't believe it's a fault either, judging by the way it is animated. It is just designed not to update whilst not visible.

Dave
Most if not all of the HTC clock widgets do the animation.
However, on the leaked video of the new speedier ROM, I notice the clock never updates like that, even though it is the big one with weather combined. It just changes immediately, so maybe that is part of the speed up...
i use the smallest one, digital, but not a flip. number 5 i think it is.
yes, if you look closely you can see it update when you go back to the homescreen, but it is so fast, most of the time i don't notice it, and i'm certainly not gonna sit there trying to see it happen, cos it's really not that important to me...
Maybe they added a setting to enable / disable clock animation ?
Hope so as I quite like it.
On the CDMA Hero there seems to be a bug... IN the Clock app, home location and current location show the correct time but most HTC clock widgets insist on displaying the GMT time. What's up with this?
Hi All
I'm wondering if there's a way to animate the flip clock widget for the CDMA Hero. I swear that the Sense UI used to have it animate (at least that's what I remember seeing in the videos) but now it just instantly switches to the next number.
AFAIK 'flipping' animation of the HTC clock widget was removed due to it being a major contributing factor to the lag in Sense UI...

No, it was just perceived to be. On the old firmware, if you hadn't used the phone for sometime, or it was otherwise engaged on a task, when you went back to the screen with the clock widget you would see the old time and it would play an animated flip to the new time.
With the new firmware, you'll often see the old time, but now instead of using the animated flip, it just switches to the new time.
Personally, I rather liked the animated flip catch up.

Dave

In this case I don't really see the difference
With the flip, returning to the home screen and swiping while the flip animation was still going, or had just finished, there was noticeable lag before the swipe animation started.
Without the flip, no laggy swipe...
This was perceived with my eyes, and i'm struggling to think what other aspect of my perception held the truth. Maybe I should've tried licking the screen?

Without the flip.... but with the new ROM. I think you will find that it is mostly the other performance enhancements included in the new ROM that were responsible for the reduction in lag, and not the removal of the clock flip animation.
Regards,
Dave
Flip was removed on the new ROMs for performance issues as other people have said.
However, the flip/animation is still available on some of the other clock widget styles. If you use one of the standard clock face type styles for the HTC Clock, these do have the clock handles spin round to the current time when you go back to the home screen. The flip was only changed on the defualt 'Digital' clock style I believe
Okay, I think I am being super parnoid... But does anyone else have the following situation...
So when you press start, then home... the clock flips over and the top part of the screen where the notifications are held flickers ever so slightly... The minute part of the clock flips over fine, but halfway through the hour part flips over the animation stutters ever so slightly... I think this is also tied in with the weather application when it fully takes over the screen etc.
Is this normal.....?
I think I am just being paranoid.
It's SIM free on O2 and happens when i'm on Wifi or not
in my HD2 it is like
change hour, nice
change minute, nice
change minute again, stutter few frames.
Exactly the same. wonder why but oh well. thanks
anyone knows how to get rid of this problem?
you can install a cab to stop the clock from flipping excessively when you return to the homescreen.
just search for it under Leo themes subforum
there you go

Guys my wife just got Hero and I got evo. She changed her wallpaper on unlock screen and now instead of slider whole screen (wallpaper) comes down when trying to unlock the phone. I tried system restore ( she has 2.1 android ) and still same thing - how can I get i back to just moving slider not the whole wallpaper ?
plz help
I think the whole wallpaper is supposed to slide down.
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
just a slider - thats how it was before and thats how it is with my evo too
Look... Not to be rude or anything, but is this really that big of a deal? When I was ever on a sense rom, the wallpaper ALWAYS slid down. It really is NOT a big deal.
/rant
not to be rude but if it wasnt a big deal to me I wouldnt even post my question here.
I tried hard resets and still no luck
what is strange that I cant downgrade to diff ruu version so maybe rom image got damaged when upgraded to 2.1
If you run an ruu you're not supposed to be able to downgrade, that's why it's a challenge to gain root on new os versions.
I have never seen a sense lockscreen that didn't slide the wallpaper down with the lockbar
so it was like that out of the box until she used picture that she took from the phone and set it as wallpaper then all change and we arent able to get back.
Now my evo is the same - when power on the screen I have a wallpaper and lock bar and then i slide it down only bar moves and the wallpaper just changes to home screen

Not to be rude, but I think you're mistaken. I think you may be confusing your Evo's lock screen with what you think you saw on your wife's Hero's lock screen.
I have had the Hero since launch day, and the lock screen has always slid the entire wallpaper down. I have probably run 40 different ROMs, and this has always been the case.
I just watched an EVO video so I could see how that lock screen behaves. I can guarantee you that I have never seen my phone do that, nor have I seen my two coworkers Heros do that.
Haha, this is funny.
First off... calm down. Oh no, the wallpaper is sliding down! Major issue!
This isn't a major issue. It's more of a personal preference. Posting "MAJOR ISSUE" makes it look like a big problem, then seeing that it is just something you don't like... very deceptive and you just did it to get more attention. Not cool.
Second off, it has ALWAYS slid down. Maybe on a different lock screen it had a different behavior, but the Hero lock-screen (including wallpaper) slides down. It has always been like that. It will always be like that.
hiya,
does setting the screen to always on cause burn-in? i like the look of that feature but having a clock burned into the middle of the screen doesnt sound fun heh

It does not cause any burn-in because all the options
in the always-on screen move the clock to different
locations on the screen every few minutes.
It's not a stationary clock or image that stays on the
same location on the screen.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
