Hi, all, just received my phone today and i am very pleased with it indeed, apart from some really stupid annoying things that HTC should be shot for, but have found fixes for most of them here today.
1: One of them was no notification LED`s on messages ect, i found a cab to fix it, but nowhere in the menu do any options appear?
2: Also on the TABS scroller at the bottom of the HD2 your are given the option to rearange the order, great!, what what about the shotcuts menu with the big icons, do i have to place every programe in the exact order i want it, does not seem to be any option to move it them about.
3: While i am on the subject of icons, is there any way in this world to move the icons on wm 6.5, into your own order without upgrading to 6.51 with the honeycombe option?.
4: I also read somewhere that the data connection does not also disconnet after a email download, there is a reg fix, but is there a cab for this, as i dont like messing with the reg.
Anyway sorry to go on, but after fixing about 5 other things that bugged the daylights out of me, i`m almost close to having the best phone in the world, just a little more tweaking.
Thanks for your help .
No takers, will subscribe and wait

OK I have spent a lonley evening searching the forum for the answer on this - if its here I am sorry i cant find it - on my (new today) xda IIi there is an o2 Icon on the task bar - it sits in the most troublesome of places and covers up parts of program headings - it must be simple enough but I canot work out how to get rid of it - I have searched for the icon file itself to get the name and search for a value in the reg but no avail - please help - someone - anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
o2 icon
hi,
browse to the windows startup menu and it should be under connections, delete that shortcut and voila.....................
thank you somuch -
that was doing my brain in - what possesed them eh? - tell me that!!!!!
once again - thnks- it was the only thing PISSING ME OFF SO FAR
o2 icon
no probs........here 2 help
You can actually just tap and hold for a second or so on the icon, and a menu appears with a slide bar...letting you move the icon wherever you want it, that's if you want to keep it anyway.
I just cancelled the install of that all that O2 Active rubbish.
As I've stated before in here, I quite like the version that's on the 2i as it allows you to have different themes without it looking crap. Some of the features on this version are quite useful as well.
I've always wanted a screen that makes use of all aspects of the screen as it would a normal Nokia mobile, for example with battery life up the side and signal strength up the other, with some space to actually show the picture you've chosen.
I don't suppose anyone's found anything like that recently have they? I gave up looking 6 months ago!
Cheers

New Update of O2 Connections
New Update of O2 Connections...
Forgot the thread here...
If you're looking to get rid of the menu bar at the bottom of the Today Screen, read on. This is not a new tip, but might save you time, as there's a lot of different versions of these programs flying around. Only the one below works on WM6 / HTC Touch.
I personally find that the Menu Bars at the bottom of the Today Screen really spoil the look of the HTC Touch's sleek black/grey theme. Besides, the Comm Manager and Contacts are both accessible via the spinning cube (or the camera button if you install Double Launcher) so there's no need to have on the Today Screen, you may as well get more space for plugins, or just to keep everything looking neat and tidy. See screenshot below!
Here's how to banish them forever (?!) :
1. Download ToggleTodayIIAlpha from this link:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
2. Copy it to your \Windows\Startup directory. (or somewhere else and paste a shortcut instead)
3. Go into the registry and edit this key:
HKLM/Software/Vijay555/VJTodayToggle
Change these keys:
Softkeysize = 1
StartSize = 26
TrayVisible = 1
That's it! I've had no massive problems with this so far, although I haven't been testing it for too long. I'd be interested to hear how people get on in terms of stability/bugs. You WILL get problems if you try to use any of the older VJTodayToggle programs in the thread on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
(SIP keyboard staying on, SIP moving to the top of the screen, menu titles disappearing but not the background, etc.)
...in fact, that's precisely why I'm sharing this info with you, as this thread is 39 pages long and it's only towards the end that things become totally clear! I'll post again if there's any unexpected side-effects, I'm currently minimising BatteryStatus and I don't know whether this will
Good luck!
Carlos
NOTES / ADVANCED
=======================
A: If you want to make your screen even neater AND still overclock your Touch, then, in step 3 above, you can make TrayVisible=0 then you can minimise the BatteryStatus plugin and it won't show up on your today screen. (right click on batterystatus icon, choose 'show rows -> minimise') I haven't tested this properly yet.
B: If you want to explore hiding the Start Menu, feel free, it looks superb when you first do it, but then I have found that the HTC biotouch (spinning cube) automatically re-instates the start menu bar when it's deactivated each time.
C: Please note, this program ( tt2.exe) DOES NOT TOGGLE, even though it's called that! Again, it's a 39 page thread, I warned you...
D: You can also run TT2.exe with a -config option to avoid editing the registry, but this would actually make the above even more long-winded to explain to any n00bs.
E: A nice new HTC wallpaper is doing the rounds without the logo. (As you can see from my screenshot, it's mis-positioned with the extra screen space) See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830
F: Vijay555 has been meaning to release a new (non-alpha) version of the software for some time, but sounds pretty busy. He seems like an all-round splendid guy though and I'd like to thank him for this software and his continued postings/programming.
I have the HTC X7500 WM6 and I've been desperate to make it works.
I've been trying other version from the 40 pages thread, so I'll try this one and I will post result.

Good luck! The honest truth is that after I'd posted this, I discovered a couple of bugs that appeared in soak testing. I gave up in the end - it worked 90% but I would still occasionally get conflict, e.g. the SIP keyboard would appear at the top of the screen sometimes and only a soft reset would put it back where it was meant to be!

Yep I confirm that, SIP keyboard is there, and sometimes as well softkeys stay there after softreset.
Well actually for me it's even worse, it's hiding the system tray (the bar just above the softkeys bar) where we can add shortcuts icons and keep the softkeys bar enabled..
Im disappointed but thks for vijay555 for all the efforts
Perfect... without HTC Logo is even better...
Thanks Carlos,
I've just installed and its working fine. With the clean background from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830 looks even better.
Cheers,
Marcelo

See my original post, have you tried setting TrayVisible=1 in the registry, this should show the system tray.
I followed exactly what u posted, it displayed it correctly the first time, then after soft reset it was displaying only the softkeys bar and hiding the system tray bar
Thks anyway
How does this look on screens BESIDES the today screen? I have used other programs on different WM phones in the past and although the bottom bar disappears on the today screen, it is still on other screens.
Also, can you use the bottom of the screen or is it just dead space? Some of us have moved the HTC Home Plug to the bottom of the page and if it is just dead space, it is going to look bad....

The menu bar is visible on other screens, this behaviour is by design. I cannot see why anybody would want it invisible on other screens, as you normally need those softkeys for menus in most programs!
As far as I know you can use the bottom of the screen, it is not dead space. But why not try it out - it's unlikely to do any harm. You can always delete it from your startup directory to uninstall if you don't want it.

Well it works well so far.....(Not my screen, Neo's screen @ HoFo)
I can't remember if the TrayVisible setting even works - I think it was something I was intending to build in, but never got around to it.
Apologies... I'm kinda programming again, had lots going on, so never finished the app. Sorry for you guys having to use my unfinished piece of cr*p. I'll make it work properly one day!

I installed this, but I don't know how to get into the registry from an .exe file, so I just tried to open the file through my phone, and instead it has hidden my start bar, as well as the bottom bar. How do I reverse this???

How did you "move" the HTC Home plugin to the bottom part of the Today-screen without any plugin above it? I searched all over the forums, but I cannot find the answer to this question

Just soft reset your phone.

Use the HTC Home customizer to "unlock" it. Then you can move it around like normal.
However, it doesn't redraw correctly on the right side if you unlock it, and a scrollbar comes and goes.
i have a other solution!! PCM shrink installe it and your bar remove it s very easier! For become to the original config juste delete the programmz!!
won't stick
Hi..very nice and easy Zip File..just one problem: the toggle won't stick after a soft reset = one has to go into File Explorer..double click the Toggle File and only than the screen is "clean" again.
Any way to make the toggle "stick"?
I have not this problem! I install the cab i going on the explorer and today shrink and clik on after i reboot my pda ans the bar not appear ... You can try put a abbreviated of today skrink in WINdows/started for star the application automatic on windows sartup
the result of the appl:
I have this running at startup on my Tilt, works with screen rotations and everything! And the hard keys are still mapped to calendar and contacts for quick access, awesome.
Many thanks, couldn't stand those useless soft keys before.

I can hardly believe it, but after returning 4 different Verizon XV6800's, giving up and trying their "Glyde" and "Voyager".....I'm back once again to the Verizon XV6800. It's still the best device (IMO) despite it's weird glitches of turning on ActiveSync all by itself and still no flashing amber light to notify you of a missed MMS Guess I'll just have to live with those stupid oversights that Verizon and UTStarcomm are unwilling to fix.
Anyway, I digress. I have HTC Plus installed on my device and it works great! I also have the default HTCHomePlugin that came with the device enabled so it gives me the icons at the bottom of the screen for "Adjust Backlight", "ActiveSync" and "Flashlight".
I would like to add additional icons to the HTCHomePlugIn at the bottom of the screen WITHOUT making any other changes to my Today Screen ('cause I'm happy with the way it looks), but I have no idea how to add any other icons. Anyone able to help me with doing this?? Thanks.....Mark

Go to the HTC Home folder on the root of your phone and copy the entire folder to your PC. Open the folder and browse around. Open what you want to edit in photoshop and edit/overwrite. Copy those changed files to a new folder and then transfer to the HTC Home folder to overwrite those files. NOTE: turn off HTC Home from the today screen when trying to overwrite files.
EDIT: Sorry realized this was the plugin, not HTC home.

Hi all
I am kind of new to this, so I hope I have put the thread in the right place. I have searched for some of the answers, but can not find them, or the threads are 100s of pages long and knowing where to look is a nightmare.
I decided to update my phone with the latest official HTC Roms from their website (2.53.405.5 (76952) WWE). Unfortunately there are a few things that I like the old way, and now I am not sure if I can go back to the original Rom that came with the phone.
- I now can not use custom sounds for my message alerts, I have put them with all the others, and made them to be the same file size, mono and all that, and they don't show up. I can use them for ring tones, but not message alerts.
- I used to have the message alert light set to constantly flash until I had read the message, so if I am away from the phone I could tell I have a message. That bit is still there, but it is grayed out so I can't have it.
- When I lock, unlock the phone, go through the menus and go back to the "Today" screen the clock will go from say 10:13, to 09:13, then will roll forward to 10:11 and then the last two minute digits will roll over to 10:12, 10:13 again? Why is this.
- Is there any way of removing the weather from the "Today" screen, it looks very nice, but the phone seems to come to a grinding halt and that added with the time thing mentioned above is also very irritating.
If anyone knows ways around these it would be much appreciated, if not is there a way of returning to the original Rom that the phone came with, I notice the HTC website said it was not possible.
Thanks in advance.

Hi spigot, thanks for the help.
I have installed the cab for the silly rolling animation, and that has sorted that out.
I have installed a program called FdcSoft TaskMgr wm2005_3.1 to alter the registry values, and have found the "AvailableOptions" one, but don't seem to be able to alter it.

Drop the sounds you want for messages directly into thw windows folder. they will be available.
Thank you codhunter, it worked .
Not sure why they would change it between roms / versions, it used to go in the tones or whatever it was called with my original one.
Also your changing the value in available options to 15 for the message LED notification worked, couldn't work spigots out above.
Thanks
Glad to be of help
i'm just learning too, SQueal. Stick with the new rom. any problems you have will soon get ironed out with the helpful guys on here!!!
SQueal: Try to use TotalCommander with it's plugin registry editor. I did it many times without any problem.
To remove weather from today tab look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656240
how can I enter the registry with totalCommander?
You must download the plugin registry editor, using Total commander's settlings.

You don't need any plugins. Registry editor is part of total commander. If you press "\" button in uppert right corner (in total commander), you'll get to root part and the first folder is called "\\Plugins", there you can find FTP, LAN and registry editor plugins.
Has anyone else noticed how much smaller the sms text message is? You have the ability to change the text size for the ones you read, and the one in with the screen alignment, but the text still seems really small.
Is there a way of doing this in the registry as well?
I installed the custom 3VO rom, and I'm not blaming it, its brought a lot of neat features, but for some reason I can't seem to fix a few problems:
Everytime I write a text message, I get an INFO: Message sent. I tried disabling it through the registry editor and installing a cab, doesn't work. Seems like it doesn't have an option to disable it, because I went to Text-Messages-Menu-Options and then when I go to account, there is no way to disable it there either. Its windows mobile 6.5 I believe.
There is nothing wrong with CHome, except that the clock is disabled in the upper bar for whatever reason. How do I make it display that? I hate the clock bar, or at least start on a different slide? I came from blackberry, so if you could point me in the way of a QVGA theme that is similar to the today screen that would be fantastic as well.
Also wondering if there is an ability to quit an application instantly after I exit it rather than have it running the background.
Text sent was fixed with the replacement of the HTCMessage.exe with a blank dummy file. Would still like help on other issues if you would so kindly oblige.
