You might want to try again with the steps. I just got done doing mine and it works perfectly. I dont have any of the htc messaging left. Thank GOD. Yeah, uninstall the cab and do the 3 steps again. Good luck

if i understood u correctly, go to ur windows directory, make sure u check show all files, find messaging link and copy it into ur start menu\programs
then when u click on that it opens the old style messaging

Finally! Tried a few other CABS that didn't seem to do anything. This one worked great on my Blackstone too (dutty 4.3 ROM).

Well i'm running Sense 2.5 and the CM one doesn't work, the zenyee one re-enables SMS in the WinMo Messaging app.
after zenyee:
When i click on a text message in the sms tab on Sense 2.5 nothing happens. and when i slide over to sms while viewing a contact, it closes the contact :\
but if i go into my email inbox and swipe to the right i can get to SMS now, it is better than nothing but very annoying. Also when in a call i can't click the sms button to view sms with caller either :\
Have you removed all of the other ones you tried? Maybe, if you feel like it, try the one i linked after a hard reset. I havent tried it on a 2.5 rom myself. Maybe some others willing to try can post results.

Tilt 2 HTC Messaging
To get to the point, I hate the new HTC Messaging. I want desperately to go back to Windows Mobile SMS. I have tried the "Zenyee Disable SMS" cab and it is quite buggy on my Tilt 2. I either don't get the text messages or I receive them hours later. Any suggestions?

Hi all,
I made a cab from the 2009-12-15 Leo SMS fix (http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407), so this can be installed on other devices with Sense 2.5..
I'm on a sense 2.1 rom currently, so can't test it...So be careful, it might break ur SMS function, test with your own risk and always backup (I guess the new 2.02 package has the update already or even a better fix)..

i'm not sure what it fixes... but it doesn't seem to fix the annoying slow messaging thingy... I was just coverting the .exe which can only be installed on HD2 to a cab that can be installed on every device..
I have heard that the htc messaging in the 2.02 pack is fast, anyone tried it?

Am I the only one in this thread that uses the actual HTC site? or do people just like to hijack threads and flame people who are doing what they can to help the community... As I remember no one else knew what the Leo Camera Fix did either, but it proved useful, at least for some.

Looks to me like HTC don't really say what the fix "fixes" but THANKS for creating the CAB, i'll have a look and see what it effects if anything. If it's worth it I'll cook it in for my next flash
Okay, have just installed the CAB.
So far no noticable difference when sending / recieving SMS.
I'm using my own custom ROM, using WinMo 6.5 28014, and most of the packages from Leo 1.48.

When the fix first came out, I tried it but it won't install on hd. and now I learned how to create the cab, so I just made it. I need to have my phone switched on all day right now and I'm with a sense 2.1 ROM, so can't test it, but I thought someone with a lower leo build may want to try it...

have you tried restoring tons of messages to see if the slowness has been somehow fixed ? Last time I've tried with 2.5 the phone almost got stuck (with about 600 messages)

you installed the fix and restored tons of sms, what I'd like to know is this:
- adding a contact with a lot of sms history to favourites slows down the phone ?
- opening such contact slows down everything ?
- I understand there is no sms history shown in the manila contact at all ? actually that point isn't very clear to me. where is that the original message is not shown ?
what I'd like to know, if you have got time to explain it to me, is what actually the fix changes, and how fast it makes opening sms history on a contact.
One last minor point is that a big sms history had most sms cut to one or two lines.

well for from the contact page i cannot tell you as i have flashed my phone a couple of times afterwords(im trying to build my own)
for the sms not shown
when i get a new message i go the message tab and click the sms
there im supposed to see the threaded conversation between the person im replying to
the whole conversation doesnt load(waited about 3 min)
but i can directly type a reply to the text message whitout a lag
hope this sorts of that question

no, the sms fix is only for Leo package lower than 1.49...and the weather fix is for any sense 2.5.. I think 2.1 manila does not need any fix, both sunny animation and sms are working ok in 2.1 manila
This post is dedicated to all who have problems with incoming SMS notification while PPC is in sleep mode.
It should be read by rom developers also to be able response on user reports.
Last time I tried new roms and found that while PDA is in sleep mode, new SMS doesn't fire sound notification often. Sound was played just after waking device up. But in sleep mode delay was unacceptable: from seconds up to hours (means never).
I reported this issue to all devs of roms I've tested. without any result. Other users reported that it works for them fine.
I did some tests and found that the reason is 'a lot of SMS' probably in conjunction to HTC Messaging. I have to be fair and use 'probably' word, because I didn't tested it on ROM versions without HTC Messaging yet (I'll do that as fast as possible)
However a few rom ago I used ROM w/o this program and noticed none of described issue.
Tests:
I did tests by sending SMS through internet SMS gateway.
PDA has been located in way, making possible to hear noise of incoming SMS from speakers
I've tested it on Roms: Energy, Grzegorz10, XanyTech.
Finally I've tested threaded and normal mode (w/o difference)
Result of tests gives the clue:
PDA responses on new SMS immediately when
- PDA is just after flashing
- after removing all SMS messages
When in inbox/set box is a lot of messages (more than 300 in my case) - the issue I just described appears.
maxym, i also have this issue with several tested rom's. this is one of the reasons that i am trying new rom's to solve this problem. i will try to empty my message box to see if this solve the problem
Just to add my own 2 cents to it, I have faced the same problem with Miri's Manila 2.5 v19 no HTC messaging.
Here are my observations
1. I upgraded to Radio 1.17 and problem disappeared but battery life was HORRIBLY. Battery life with 1.13 is fantastic for me so shifted back to 1.13.
2. With Radio 1.13, after each reset or restart, if I receive and read one message (from any other phone. I usually send a sms from wives phone to mine) then all the rest I receive till next restart, I get notification even when my phone is in standby.
I am just about to try Kwbr's Rhodium 1.3 Rom (with sense 2.1) to see if its the same case and report back (will again use my favourite 1.13 Radio)
Edit: No problems so far with Kwbrs Rhodium Rom version 1.3 while using Radio 1.13 with GREAT battery life!
I have try and almost empty my messages but seems that this did not help. again i have to power on the HD to receive the notification for a new message.

try disable on Settings/Battery panel the "Automatically adjust backlight" or similar, i red about LookUp issoue.
if problem not solved, flash not cooked ROM, and than cooked ROM, or change Radio ROM.
I have the same Problem and just discoverd this thread.
I'm on Blackstonehenge Hyper 1.5, HTC Messaging Client is 3625.
Auto Adjust Backlight is turned off, and also changing the time until Device goes to Standbymode didnt do anything to me. I seriously hope anyone will be able to fix this.
Tested it with Radio 1.13 , 1.15, 1.17 . Before every single Flash i used Task29 to clear up the Partition.
Any other ideas?
I had the same problem with version 2014.2622
I deleted all messages - also the deleted files (!!!)
Then I uninstalled HTC Messaging and installed version 2014.3625
Since then everything works normal - now one day.
Keeping fingers crossed.
With the Xennytech 2.8B I've got the same problem
Now I'm going back to the Xennytech 2.1B and sms notification working fine.
I removed the last HTC Messaging Client, i've tried - deacitivated sense, with Taskmanager killed the "Messages" Process and installed HTC Messaging from here , it's the HTC Messaging, used in Energy's Roms - this one is working for me and i know have my Notification. Hope it helps someone.

SMS Wake Up does work, Notifications will come immediatley than, but it will always turn the Screen on

No its not CHT - i always try this on empty clean Roms with just the default installed applications.
You can give me some Informations:
- How did you flash? with or without Task29? USPL or HSPL?
- Which Radio do you use? Which Rilphone Version?
- Which Operator do you have? Did you try updating your Operator Settings (Startmenu->Settings->Connections->Connection Setup->Menu->Update Database
Maybe we will find the Solution, till now only a few people seem to have this error - i guess it has something to do with the relation between Operator and new HTC Messaging

Hi, I removed HTC Messaging and it partially solved the problem - i can hear SMS notification sound, but the sign indicating a new SMS received is displayed only on the upper end of the screen as an envelope and not on the Messages icon as it once did - if before uninstalling HTCmessaging the sign showed up without a sound, now its the other way around.
Do you have any solutions for that?

hey guys... its good to know im not along with this problem...
same symptoms as what you guys describe, sms only get notified when you bring the phone out of sleep mode...
tried several roms... cloudy 2.2... energy... and all with same issues... always hard reset after new flash.. even went and task29 between each roms to make sure...
tried radio 1.17 and 1.14.... makes no difference...
atm.. only way around it for me... leave it plugged into usb all day... at least this way when i get a sms/msg it comes through when it should...
am i the only one to NOT have this problem??? i get the notification sound when a text comes thru in sleep mode fine. been using energy roms

Yea, but it always turns your screen on while receiving a message and thats also pretty annoying. I guess it's something HTC Settings Enhancement based. I compared different HTC Messaging Clients, but there arent so many different Registry-keys in them. Also NRG'z Client ist the only HTC Messaging Client working for me.
I tried five Clients from the new 1.8 Version, i tried a different rom,i flashed with and without Task29, i tried different Radios - nothing seems to work, and nobody seems to care.
I will stay on NRG'z Messaging Client, cause im sick of flashing because of this Error.

The fix to the sent notification problem is in the HTC New SMS Function HotFix (24-01-2010). It will downgrade the HTC Messaging Client to V1.5 (build 2011.3631) which works fine and NO SENT MESSAGE NOTIFICATION!!
If you have a Rom with this problem and want to disable the Sent Notification message then you can extract the exe file from the attached zip file, copy it to your phone and install. I dont know if it downgrades any functionality but it stops the Sent Message Notification from coming through which is annoying everyone.

Well the HTC Messaging Client in the new Manila Build is 2012.1931 so I can only assume that HTC either made a mistake in that build and enabled the Sent Notification permanently so it cant be disabled or they decided that it should always be on.
Either way the HotFix 'downgrade' option will fix the annoying problem.

Just install Advanced Config, then run it and go down to the messaging tab and enable the SMS Sent Notification option.

You cant turn it on or off for a single message but its easy enough to do it for all messages.

Meh, this is useful sometimes, but not always (since I'm charged for it). Why do they have to get rid of useful features? This has been possible on Nokias since the dawn of time, and I was able to do it on my Diamond. :'(

I really dont know why since all it does is update the htc messaging app and nothing else. If its causing alot of problems then a hard reset will get everything back to normal.

I have the most recent rom from the htc website, i never got the sent message popup, tried that advance config tool, turned it on and it still don't show =(

i have this problem with the axlor rom.
i down loaded and extracted the exe put it on my phone but it wont install.
just says there is no application associated with htc hd2 ect
run the app first then open this file from within the aplication?
am i doing somthing rong?

Hi all, sorry if its been asked B4 but i cant seem to find a definite answer or solution. Thing is I cant find an option for my HD2 to play a sound when i send a txt message (just peace of mind that its been sent realy) All notifications are switched on and i get a sound when i recieve messages but nothing to confirm 'message sent'. Tried going to settings/all settings/sounds & notifications where there is the option for mms sent play sound (which i activated) the option for message doesnt offer anything for message sent tho.
Anyone have any ideas...i am using a uk stock rom that hasnt been flashed

The only solution is to upgrade to the latest ROM 3.14 which from memory does have support for message sent on sms.

thanx for that. Thought that may be the case.Was hoping there would be a way round this without flashing roms...pretty much new to this device and currently has the dreaded .51 radio, which i have heard/read can be the death of these phones if attempting to flash, so im kinda put off messing with new roms etc..

Hey no worries dude this is a great community. I use taskmanager as my reg-editor. Do a search for it It should be free..
From memory there are 3 htc sms clients. That one linked which works for me but lacks the new folder(secure box) for saving sms, one that has that secure box function inbuilt but is older version and has chinese character problem and then a totally newer client which was recently released. To be honest the version in the link above does the job for me and now plays a sound and shows a notification.
It's great you dont have to do a whole flash ROM upgrade and that you can upgrade individual programmes in this phone. Makes it a really amazing phone.

Ye i agree, at first it seemed a little intimidating thinking i had to flash roms etc to actually install 'cabs' and such to the device...But am learning as i go that this is not the case. Will continue to read, read ,read through the exellent threads on XDA and over time unlock the true potential of the device.
