A seller from Taiwan saying that this is an OEM HTC Diamond 2 T5353 with European compatible 3G HDSPA.
I know that this is 99% a fake one, but what do you think?

Yes, and that's why it catagorized as "3 mpx and up". (5 is more than 3 btw)
It may not be fake, but it looks like a scam.
- No original picture (stock picture from web)
- "Too good to be true" price
- Copied spec from sales literature
- Inaccurate box contents description (Topaz comes with one battery, and would only include two if it was opened)
- Seller has many low price transactions
- Previous buyer was a new account, linked with phones (often used to add legitimacy, buy phone from second account and re-sale.
Against that though are that there is only one unit for sale. If they had 7 or 8, I'd be more skeptical.
I could well be wrong.

A "very nice" WinMo clone, if specs are correct: a WVGA Screen With 3G/HDSPA(On the ebay auction)
I've never saw something like that on a chinese clone, I think they are wrong about this specs, only the Marvell PXA310 624MHz, I know it is true because I already saw a chinese WinMo one with this processor live, but no 3G neither WVGA screen.
My wife bought a TD2 Asian clone for some ridiculously low price on eBay.
Phone seems to work just fine, no touch flo interface so she's restricted to WM 6.1 at present.
Being a complete noob to all things mobile I was wondering if this phone could be flashed with a cooked rom, and if so, are there any benefits to doing so?

The Hard SPL from this forum will not unlock your device.
You would have to write your own unlocker or possible pay someone here to do it as it is a one off....
As far as advantages, phone will be quicker and more responsive because you eliminate all of the carriers bloatware, plus custom ROMs are tweaked for better performance.

Yep, everyone here in oz is talking about this- no places are stocking the Dopod D810 anymore as they cant get it.....
apparently within the next few weeks a new HTC P3600i will be released with more memory and a faster processor......
not sure if this is fiction or not but sounds good- strange though that they would release it here before anywhere else... we always seem to get technology like this about 6-12months after everywhere else (we only got electricity last week! )...... no iphone until late this year.... etc....
personally i think that it is just a rebranding of the current Dopod D810? Anyone from here who has good sources can confirm this?
look at the post halfway down the page here- one guy buying a heap from 3 has been told of the P3600i....:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=658349&p=-1#bottom
Personally I think it's just a rebranding ... cause the latest official Dopod WM6 ROM (we all jumped on ) states "HTC_P3600i" in the 'About' screen...
Or....in the case of a real P3600i, this would explain why there are some issues with this Dopod ROM on a regular P3600...
Hmz..
It's true
HTC is updating the Trinity with a 500MHz processor and larger memory. Also known as CHT9110 (our P3600 is CHT9100) in Taiwan and offered for about 20% price increase.
Why would they do this when HTC is unveiling a few new phones in a few months? To me the Polaris is the phone to get.....

I don't see a 3G small (i.e. without keyboard) phone with GPS in the HTC roadmap so maybe there's room for an improved P3600.
this will be my next phone if htc release it in europe.

Huh? The Polaris is the same exact phone as the 3300 but with 3G. It has a 2.8" screen, not a 3.5" screen, that was a typo. I have spec screen shots of the Polaris and it looks great.
Look at my ActiveSync, one of the choices is HTC P3600i
after flashing my trinity w/ Dopod's official WM6 ROM, activesync detects it as a P3600i already
it seem soo pc'ish to be willing to replace a device to get 100Mhz more
battery life is more importent
more so if one like to be online with messenger with 3g while on the move
i dont see much real world change in that
polaris seems like a pretty cool device imho
Yep it may be rebranded as HTC P3600i or Dopod810x anyway from what I have seen so far in some Asian websites (HTC P3600 = CHT9100 and the HTC P3600i = CHT9110)
the new specifications may be:
Windows Mobile 6 Professional
Samsung 500Mhz CPU
256MB ROM/64MB RAM
All the rest should remain the same as the previous model.
I can't say that it is 100% sure but you can still have a look at:
http://mobile.163.com/07/0718/10/3JM8DP840011179O.html
below all the pictures.
One big question remain, how much will this new model cost?

128M of RAM would definitely cause battery to drainer much quicker - unless they upgrade the battery too.
P3600i available in Australia in one week.
It really does exist!
Here is the preordering page at a shop here in town.
The price is $1099 AUD.

HTC P3600i in latest "3"cattledog!
Yep guyz and guyesses. The latest 3 Three cattledog inside back cover shows and lists the HTC P3600i available on a $49 plan for $32 per month. Now that's $4 less than the Dopod D810 albeit on a $29 plan.
Organizer world have it listed also at $1099 due in about 10 days or so.
Extra ram and 500 processor and my favorite a built in GPS receiver.
Just tought you would like to know that it really is happening!

This is your opinion. I have used the Kaiser and as great of a phone it is, IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.
I dislike slide out keyboards as I have had 2 phones like this and got rid of them both. I also dislike heavy phones and this phone is one of the heaviest phones I have held in a while.
Anyway, why would you post about the Kaiser in this thread? If anything, I would be waiting for the Polaris personally, not the Kaiser.

I really like the design and specs of the HD2, but Windows Mobile makes it very buggy and unreliable :/ Since the new ROM-update didn't fix the sms-problem I need to return my HD2 and buy a new working phone, that can send smses without problems. Does anyone have any experience with the N900 and any cons/pros vs the HD2?

Is the resistive touchscreen a no go? I'm not sure, but everybody says that capacitive touchscreens are much much better.
I got my HD2 form eXpansys but I'll send it back. It's so buggy and my battery is the worst. I only lasts about 6 to 8 hours, and that's when I'm at work. So I'm doingt pretty much nothing with it...
N900 screen is nice, since you have the option of using a stylus or finger. Some Flash sites have smaller icons, so the stylus function is nice. This also comes handy for mouse function in Flash games.
I have about 200 Flash games saved to my N900 and launch through the file manager. A LOT of Flash games play very well launching them this way.
Resistive screen requiring a stylus? No multi-touch or pinch zoom support? A 3.5" screen instead of 4.3"? 600mhz processor instead of 1ghz?
No thanks, I'll stick to my HD2 if that's ok and I suggest you do the same.

It's a resistive screen so while your finger might work if you press it a certain way (I can get my three year old O2 Orbit to work with my finger too), it's designed to be used with a stylus and comes with all the limitations that implies.
I got the chance to play around with the N900 for a few minutes, I don't regret getting the HD2.
Didn't like the OS, not that WM is any better, but HTC did an excellent job with Sense UI.

Maemo is certainly not better than Windows Mobile at all and has its own shortcomings, just like any mobile OS.

If you hate the HTC Messaging not being able to handle too many smses you can use this hack to disable it and use standard WM 6.5 SMS interface - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614&page=1
Kasperknop,
If you really want to know what the Nokia is like why don't you post on a Nokia forum? You will get more opinions there from those that have used/owned the device but perhaps no less bias than you would get on here.
To be honest, if you are that keen then I would walk into a phone shop and handle a real one. It is the only way to work out whether you can live with a device or not.
Hope this helps.
WB
Just this minute got email, my N900 has shipped! I'll post up thoughts when its in my hands, I have no particular bias for either Nokia or HTC...

i was going to go for the n900 but the tech specs put me off compared to hd2, then i found outs resistive with no multi touch, a complete joke, nokia are way behind and the device itself is huge compared to the hd2,
i have my HD2 since last friday trough insurance of my old dead Xperia X1, going to test the N900 next wednesday at a friends phone shop
will compare it couse im thinking about switching as well, ill post my findings
check out gsmarena.com they have a long review on the n900 seems good but does have limitations like no voice dialing which may not be a big thing for most people but more importantly no mms ability as a result of maemo not supporting it

Hi all.
I'm going to buy Topaz, however still I can't find out if there were designed two version of Topaz. Some shops claims that their Diamonds 2 devices are sold with 3 Mpix camera, others say they got 5 Mpix. Is it true? Are there two versions of this device? Are there any additional hardware differences?
edit: I know, that some operators are selling brand devices with their logos. What I'm asking of is to point two devices that looks identically, but they've got other hardware.
Thx in advance

Hi all,
After being away for a while and currently not having a htc device i have the oportunity to buy a blackstone used. It looks nice, good preservation, no scratches on the screen, all acessories included. My question is it still worth it???
I have seen some new models of htc but they are a bit expensive here. This one goes for 250€ but i'm afraid it's a bit "old". Please if you can give me your opinion about this issue.

Yes it is worth it. It still runs all the latest OS etc. I'm glad I bought mine a few months ago. The HD is a good all round performer, and like you say the other devices around that are better/newer are a lot more expensive. When you can get most the features of the HD2 on the HD for half the price, why not buy the HD. That's the way I see it anyways. The price you stated does sound a bit much though, I'm sure you could get it much cheaper on ebay, but this could just be down to the crappy exchange rate here against the Euro.

Thanks for your reply. Since e-bay is out of the question because many of them don't ship out of their country and i also don't have a pay-pal account it doesn't leave much choise. I have seen the site and i know it's a lot cheaper but still not an option for me. I see that according to users the HD can (almost) do the same as the HD2 and i think i will go for it. Would like to have other opinions though.......

I purchased my blackstone last week after trading in my hero. The hero was a nice handset, i just didn't think android "was all that". I don't think the functionality of android is great, even 2.1. However i am running a the lastest blackstone henge rom on my device and i think its great.
The internal specification of the blackstone is the same as the hero if i'm correct and the hero is a relatively new device in comparison. Don't get eaten up by the snapdragon ghz band wagon, the touch hd still holds its own and imo is a great alrounder.
What requirements do you have for a handset when you look at buying one?
The HD is pretty good still, but a bit slow, and always was, for that sort of money I'd be inclined to buy a new acer S200 now and get the fastest Wm device available, very similar to the HD and are apparently very easy to flash other roms on to if the acer one is buggy.
Despite my disappointing experience with an F900, I would still be prepared to give them another try, I've had bad experiences with HTC and HP branded HTC's also.
Yes, HD is still front runner, specially if you find cooked ROM which has what you like.
And there's plenty of cooked ROMs, and more than half of them are still developing...
Price of 250 € is nice one, if device is really good preserved.

I can't comment on the price but I just bought one (t8285) on Ebay for 450 US precisely for the reason that a) I've never had one and didn't like the bulk of the Rhodium and b) there's an EnergyRom for it
The Telstra versions are rare in the US but work on the 850 range which is ATT's 3g band. I wanted to see if I could live without a keyboard and didn't want to pony up the big bucks to get an HD2 for Telstra until I signed off on the soft keyboard.
If you can afford it and find one you like I don't think you can go wrong. It's not the latest and greatest but it is a strong contender.

The only bad part of it is Microsoft abandoning WM
Yes, I've seen some used ones in Ebay for $200 - $250. The Touch HD has everything (big screen, WiFi, GPS, FM radio, G-sensor, 5 mpix camera). It's a lot of hardware for that price.
Of course it runs Windows Mobile, which is dying right now. Sooner or later you'll have to move to Windows Phone 7 (vade retro) / iPhone / Android.
Any app you use (or God forbid, purchase) for Windows Mobile will not be transferable to any other phone in the future. Ask the developers if they will port the app and to what platforms.
You have a very good WM 6.1 ROM from KWBR, and a lot of WM 6.5 ROMs. I've used a few of them and am currently running a WM 6.5 with Manilla 2.5 and Opera 10.

On eBay you can get mint condition (almost new) hd2s (phone only) for around 190 usd (buy it now price). More used ones (Inc. Accessories) and carrier locked for less, down to around 110 usd, which is usu the max prices of broken ones. It's a good price considering the repair fees total around that much and you are buying the only phone that can dual boot wp7 and android.

Indeed there's a lot of custom ROM, oh don't talk about them just imagine the great chef's ROM for HD2 and their tweaks ....
Hey guys, I know this thread is a bit old, but like this I don't do a new one.
So, it was me who started this thread and I'm still thinking on buying one of these, but I got questions about the screen:
-I still didn't understand if the screen is resistive or capacitive...
-Does the screen use pressure like in a resistive one, or does it work like a capacitive screen?
-Does it have a good definition?
And one more question, not about the screen:
-should I buy the T-mobile version just because of the specs? I see it has a lot of problems, and if it does, I would buy the international version with no doubt!
Thanks in advance,
mfsr98
T-Mobile has no more problems from a hardware perspective over the international version.
Main issue with T-Mobile (TMOUS) is idiots flashing a .51 radio & can't really blame the phone for that ...
Digi is capacitive ... Buying with care & at reasonable low cost still makes it a worth while buy, buy badly & you will have a nice desk paper-weight. Many for sale are badly repaired or have mainboard/nand/digi issues ...

Hey guys, I know this thread is a bit old, but like this I don't do a new one.
So, it was me who started this thread and I'm still thinking on buying one of these, but I got questions about the screen:
-I still didn't understand if the screen is resistive or capacitive...
Capacitive
-Does the screen use pressure like in a resistive one, or does it work like a capacitive screen?
-Does it have a good definition?
Images are sharp, colours are poor and performs terribly in direct sunlight
And one more question, not about the screen:
-should I buy the T-mobile version just because of the specs? I see it has a lot of problems, and if it does, I would buy the international version with no doubt!
Buy either, the TMOUS basically has more internal storage and is slightly taller than the EU one.
Thanks in advance,

Answered in red. Also in response to one of your much older questions, the screen only supports 2 points, and it isn't particularly good at doing even that.
I have this phone for while, and i had only one problem. One day, screen just doesn't responded to my touches. So, i had to change sensor. But still its best smartphone that I had
Sorry for bad English.

Got mine from company I work for ...
in terms of screen colours I think they are quite good, Samsungs look awful to me though so each to his/her own.
direct sunlight visibility is poor but so are most.
Good phone but if intending to use Android only plenty of better hardware & stronger hardware devices available for a little more cost ...
Thank you everybody for the answers. Being capacitive does it mean it's not pressure activated, just like, for example, you touch it with less force possible and it selects ? (like the sll)
yes, thats what capacitive means, , not pressure. The screen is glass, you'd put your finger through it if you tried a pressure press. (well you wouldnt, cos its pretty tough, but u get the idea)
