HELP!
Since I once loved a place in the world time clock with a different time zone (Boston) and had removed changes with each update of the weather, the time zone for "My Location" on New Delhi GMT +5:30 GMT +1 Berlin would be correct, Rome.
The only way to prevent this is to add my Nearest city as a location and select it. Then the time zone for "My position is not changed."
I set the current Vodafone HTC Rome one 2.16.162.3 (67041).
Excuse my lousy English
Does anybody advice?
Thank you very much

Both described solutions turn "My Location" off.
Is there a way to prevent adjust the time zone without turn "My Location "off?
Thank you very much

Am not sure if I got the same issue, but My Location always points me to New Delhi. Also using Google Maps with GPS Disabled it tells me I am in New Delhi. I am in The Netherlands :S
Check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=539494
Think my problem is slightly different, My Location and Google Maps also put me in wrong location.
It suddenly seems to work now, maybe an issue related to my provider Vodafone NL.
I've got a problem that My Location points me exactly where I am (Huizen in Netherlands), but the time zone is locked at -8 Pacific time. So my time and agenda/calendar is ****ed up....
anyone knows what to do?
Thanks in advance,
Sander

Has anyone figured out how to change the weather location reported in the HTC plugin. I live in an area not listed in the initial setup (Sacramento, CA) and I found a few registry entries to change, but it did not seem to change the display. In fact, I think I might have broke it!!
I somehow got it to work the second time i tried it. I first reset it back using the interface, then edited the registry and added my city. Works great.
Could you explain exactly the modification ?
Thanks.
You can find the registry entry here...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
HTC
HTCHome
Weather
Settings
You need to change the Location name and Location Code keys to match the format found on Accuweather.com for your City.
Press OK and save changes.
Backup your Registry first just incase.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
is it possible to "REPROGRAM" the "weather icon" on the htc today screen ??? i would like to launch another program instead...thank you
format
<city name="Tampa, US" locationcode="NAM|US|FL|TAMPA|33601"/>
best i can tell the above is the correct syntax for getting cities in the list but aside from the above city and a couple of MAJOR cities i cannot get this to work on any smaller cities or towns. anyone come up with anything else?
It wont work for me either :0( - after the change it wont download?
If it's possible, anyone could do a tutorial for the weather change screen ?
Sorry for my bad english....
Many thanks.
Works a treat, thanks
Well, it works like a charm for me. Happy to see that you can actually change the city name too (mine is now Amersfoort, without the NL).

If this is true, HTC deserve one serious slap around their wrists...
I'm unable to change my weather city to Holiday, FL 34691 myself...tried a couple different variations, but it's just not holding.
So, I'm wondering...there are a FEW bigger US cities not included in this AccuWeather plugin app that HTC is using - when the phones are officialy released in N. America in the (hopefully) near future, will these cities be added as supported options? I mean, no Denver? Tampa?...but St. Petersburg...!?!?

Denver works fine for me. I was upset I couldn't get more specific and use Boulder or Superior though.

oh, I didn't try adding Denver, I was just looking at the included list of cities.
Could someone point me in the right direction for changing the weather - i cannot find the file on my touch to change the details. I followed the lead posted earlier but can't for the life of me find the appropraite file to change.
Changing Weather city
Hi all
Quite simple to change the defined weather cities. Just download a registry editor like Mobile Registry Editor (http://www.breaksoft.com/Download/MRE/MobileRegistryEditor.zip) which allows you to edit the registry from your PC using ActiveSync. Then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings
And change the Keys Location and LoctionCode to the new city. To know the city code find it on http://www.accuweather.com/.
Cheers
you could always move to a city that is listed, this would resolve the problem....
Hi Everybody;
Does Anyone can tell me what is the code for the city Namur in Belgium ?

Has anyone found a way to have the time zone automatically change when flying to a different zone? All my past phones did this automatically,
thanks
motrid
Windows mobile doesn't do this on purpose. If you use calender and have lots of entries they need to be tracked accurately to your present timezone. Thus when you cross a timezone, simple go into the clock settings and setup "visiting" timezone to where you now are and select it. That will start the process of re-timing all your meetings and entries to the "adjusted" times for the new zone.
Shadowmite,
Please excuse my belated thanks, I just read your resonse today. I missed this thread completely.
Thank you for the clear explanation, I will simply adjust the "visiting" time to match where I am.
Thanks again!
Joe

Maybe, but I dont know how to turn it off ?
Hey,
(Thinking it could be daylight saving time).
- I searched on the internet and I found a few things you could try. You could update your device with through this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
- You can try to put daylight saving time off in Outlook through
Tools | Options | Preferences | Calendar Options | Time Zone
(I found this on an old threat on the internet so I am not sure it will work, the link:
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=146800)
But before I continue is it the GPS clock or the whole phone? Did you ever connect the phone with a USB cable to a computer?

Yup, its the GPS clock which is shown in several GPS map software I mentioned above. The clock of whole phone is still set correctly
I did try to disable my daylight saving time(DST) by "advance config tool" from xda - developer but its not the solution. >> do you think that GPS signal, its self, contains a time data including DST.
Infact, my local time (+ 7 GMT Bangkok, Hanoi) is not observed by DST but GPS clock still run as if the DST is applied, one hour ahead of local time
Hey,
I really do not have a clue what the problem would be. I thought that GPS just tracked location and not time. Anyway I searched on this forum with the searchkey "GPS TIME". Maybe the following topic is helpfull:

Grtz
Ps. I often update my GPS with the preinstalled ("quickgps")
Disable the auto adjust gps-time.

In Settings from Navi-software. Maybe different in the Navisofts, for instance iGO in sys.txt or in Settings-menu, TomTom only in Settings-menu.

unfortunately, both of my Gps software (Vietmap17, papagox3) dont have setting funtion for this. Hence I have to edit some registry info, dont I ?
Sorry, don´t know both GPS-Apps. Maybe a reg-setting or a config-file.
Can't you try to call the service centre of the GPS software? Even if it is illegal you can try.

Yup, they are legal sofwares, I called service centre of Vietnam17 software. However they dont know much, too disappointed. Maybe, I will try to email Papagox3 service center about my matter.
Hi, I recently took my HTC Touch 2 on a travel and I noticed that when I'm in a neighbor country the device didn't notify me about the timezone change (I had a second phone with me: a Samsung E250 which instantly notified me about the timezone update/change) and I had to change the hour/time manually on the HTC. Is there a way to make this phone to behave like my Samsung? Thanks.
Have just checked the phone but could not find.....
Perhaps there is a cab floating around.......to be continued.
Could not find anything......
sorry mate
try this
Telephone-->menu-->options-->GSM/UMTS Services-->
scroll down, Time synchronisation
please note, my version is in dutch, but the menu options should be something like this
Good catch...... is there also a notification......?
Thanks donSjon, after 3 days of ticket pending I got the official answer from the HTC support and I want to share with the others:
"Are you enabling to update timezone manually from network? PLease go to start>seetings>personal>phone>timezone. You could as well go to start>settings>system>clock and alarms>check visiting timezone".
I have a problem with the clock since the hours changed to summer time.
I try'd 3 diferent Roms now and all have the same problem, the clock delays 1 hour allways.
I set the correct time and sometime later or after a softreset the time delays 1 hour.
Another thing is that I can't mantain my correct time zone (London) that has the correct time for me. It allways changes to (Casablanca) that is 1 hour earlyer.
Please help.
i'm in the UK and i didn't do a thing on the phone when the summer time changed. It changed the time automatically. Running Leo v3 rom, btw
Am in uk aswell. Time changed automatically didnt have to do anything. Using the EnergyROM with Radio: 2.08.50.08_2.
Sorry not got any ideas, hope some1 can help you..
Just don't make any Portuguese City in the world clock your default city. Use "My Location" instead. That's what i do.
This ain't an UK problem it's Portuguese problem, the time zone / weather database file (WWE and other then the PT rom version) of Manila is wrong concerning the portuguese Time Zone, i forgot about the file name but you have to edit it with sqlite.
This just heppens with new Roms, since when the time changed my Rom changed well and automatic, but with new roms a have this problem.

I'm having the same problem. I'm in Porto and the "My location" sugestion doesn't fix the problem. HD2 always get 1 hour earlier. I could set my location to London but all the geographical integration is lost. For me the ROM is the default one that vodafone delivered (last htc pt stock rom).
Does anyone know what file should be edited to correct the problem as sugested above?
Thanks for your help
Try:
Start > Setting > Menu: All settings > Personal > Phone > GSM/UMTS > Time Synchronization > Get Settings > Tick: Automatic Change time zone and clock.
I had the above problem and this fixed it.
That is already set im my ROM

Thanks, I think that will solve the problem
I've unticked both settings refering time sync (GSM/UMTS and internet time sync) as suggested above and that doesn't fix the problem when syncing with PC using mobile device center v6.1
It's beggining to be of major concern for me as I need frequently to check the time in different countries for professional reasons and even if I don't sync with PC and I force the clock to the right time, some of the other cities would be wrong (not all with +1h).
HTC should fix this bug.
jpl69 can you please tell me more about the file that should contain the "world time table"?
me too
I'm in Portugal too and last Monday I lost a €12000 contract due to being 1 hour late for the appointment. I had this problem last year too and haven't yet found a solution. I'm quite sickened by it. The Microsoft "patch" doesn't work either. I'm sure these settings must be in the registry somewhere?
problem solved with Weather City Editor
I´m in Portugal too.
I think the bug is on Manila 2.1 and 2.5, the time zone for Portugal is incorrectly Casablanca when it should be London.
Corrected it with Weather City Editor that ca be found here at xda.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546141
It took me 2 minutes to fix all the 16 cities (Ponta Delgada was the only one already correct) and after a while even "My location" comes ok.
Hope this helps.
