Did you flash it from a storage card? Otherwise hspl could't be removed, right?
Looks like you have to consult this thread for a possible solution.
BTW, just wondering, can one flash the new test rom the hspl way from a usb connected pc?

I used both method.
Flashed with usb having HSPL
Flashed with goldcard using SDcard (to have the new SPL)
sigh.. another that 'bite the dust'.
hopefully the other thread's thread starter can really put a note in his thread to alert people that this is not yet another rom that can be flashed and re-flashed by other roms!

did it... just realized it myself and was searching for a solution...
so we have to wait for hspl 2...
Have you tried Flashing 2.02 using Goldcard + SDcard??
2.02 requiers his own spl 2.0
I think this could be a option.
Flash 2.02 Goldcard-SDcard
Flash 1.66
Flash HSPL
Havn't tested it yet tho.
Anyone dare to test it?
If it fails, I think you can flashback the 2.07 rom.
doesn't work
via sd card it sits on loading, so doesn't appear to recognize the card. if that's so then goldcard wont work.
ill play some more later with formatting the card again, but i think ideally what we need is something to kick in before the spl, in the same way the sspl does.
Gonna download RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe and copy the rom to my sd card see if I have any luck with that as it is the version my device shipped with.
I didn't change the first 2 digits of my serial to 00 so I am not sure my gold card will work and can't find anywhere to get a new gold card at the moment.

it's probably a goldcard issue.
Since the new spl, the device name and ID had changed, so now the goldcard for the HD2 doesn't work... Now we need goldcard for the new name/id...
don't think it is goldcard unfortunately
Just some noobies taughts about this please don't kill me.
Could it be possible that 2.07 SPL is on another position and therefore it avoids to flash back to a earlier SPL because the adres is different?

don't think it's that, but we can't discount anything till we work out what they've done..
Cotulla said it may be that HTC have plugged some holes and decided to restrict downgrading. That makes sense to me, but I wish I could think of a way around it (that I could manage), it's way above my level as well
It is possible to reflash the 207 using goldcard (so it's not the goldcard) so it's likely we can go up with the spl numbers with the newer roms if wanted.
I'm hoping that they decide to release 2xx based roms for the rest of the world after the tmous HD2 is out; doubtful but we can hope!
Hello,
I've had HSPL 1.42 (if correct) installed on my device.
Tried to do a new rom install - _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HKCSL_WWE_1.72.831.1_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship - from the sd card.
Now it ain't working.
It shows SPL 1.66.0000 XE
and the error message is: Upgrade ROM Code error - Please try again.
Can you please help me recover it??? Please !!!
Thanks!
you obviously didn't research flashing before you started else you would realise that flashing a stock rom from sd card overwrites the spl.
so, instal hspl2, choose your preferred hspl (id go for 1.66.HSPL) then flash your rom again but over usb.
no need for phone to be booted to flash from usb, boot loader and connect usb then flash rom.
todays lesson? get a clue what you are doing before you dive in.
Thanks so much. But when I try to install HSPL2 it says:
CRITICAL ERROR
fLOW: 0000003
eRRIR cIDE 0000004
dESCRIPTION: bAD MODEL id!
I'm desperate!!!
Please help!

Jesus man, you guys rip people apart for taking the plunge. Try to understand, this guy spent some gwap to have this phone. Perhaps got a little excited, but c'mon, you came with the Trunchbull comments. Ease up. He probably over there smashing his head against a wall already. The point is to get others involved and encourage.
Look. I believe you might not be totally in deep doo doo. Would a goldcard flash help this situation? Do a search in the fora for this method. I have heard it can help erroneous HPL installs.
Good Luck!
you first need to find your stock rom ur phone came with and flash using sd card. then install hspl and try again. dont use sd card if u can help it.
or try hspl2 if u havent already
OK,
Manged to get the 1.66.HSPL installed.
I've managed to install the original ROM that I wanted.
Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate your help!!
I have a quick question:
How do I install (at this point, with HSPL 1.66 installed) THE ORIGINAL 1.48 ROM and the ORIGINAL SPL I used to have when I bought the phone. (in case I need to send it to the shop for warranty purposes.)
YOur help is much appreciated. Thanks again for helping me!

I held the volume down button. Then I installed HSPL2, 1.66.HSPL.
Then remove battery.
Then held the volume down button + powerbutton and installed an original rom via USB cable.
Thank God it worked.
I've spent 510 euros on this thing and I live in ROmania!!!!

yea I probably did come on a bit arrogant, and most times I wouldn't have.I often answer people when the question is so inane that others just ignore the poster, but in this case I was harsh because the answer is in the very first post of the hspl thread, not to mention it being asked and answered in hundreds more threads.
to spend a few weeks wages on something and start fooling with it without fully understand the pit falls is just dumb.(sorry to the op, I mean in general, not specifically you)

No worries mate. I know I've been stupid not to double check what I'm doing.
Thanks a lot again for helping, I really appreciated it.
If you were here, I would have bought you a beer!
yr welcome, glad its sorted.
Well I got my new Leo 13 days ago and I've tried to make the stock ROM work to my satisfaction but between the T-Mo junk installed and terrible battery life I decided it was time to try a cooked ROM...
So I read and read and read some more...It's not my first run at this but I wanted to understand everything so I didn't end up with a $449 paperweight.
This morning I download and installed the HSPL-1024....No problems, went just as the instructions said....
I then download a 1024 T-Mo tested/approved Energy Rom and I install it on my LEO.... No problem everything went as it should. I played with the rom and wanted to try another one with a different look so I found another 1024 LEO Rom, the RoMEoS4 or something like that.... Anyway, that install went just fine...
After installing both cooked ROMS I noticed I was having freezing/locking up issues and had to keep soft reseting so after several hours of it locking up I decided to just revert back to the stock T-Mo USA rom.
I then went on here and found the exact shipped rom I had originally (I had documented the versions I had prior to HSPL and the cooked rom's)
http://beta.vbnfiles.com/index.php?...08.50.08_2_Ship.zip&directory=xmoo/Leo/TMOUS&
Instructions on here clearly explained how to revert back (for warranty purposes) so I downloaded the exact stock rom, extracted it to my desktop and renamed the nbh file leoimg.nbh.... I then copied it to a formatted 8gb SDcard and inserted it into the phone.
Instructions said to hold the Volume down botton and the Power button until it boots into the bootloader and then begins to install off the card. I did this exactly and shortly after it began loading off the card it went back to the bootloader and said "Upgrade Rom Code Error, Please try again" it then goes to a gray screen that says "Loading" and stays there...stuck.
Here's a video of what it does when I try to load off the sdcard.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCD_-EuI1_Q
I have no idea what happened or what to do to get it out of this...
Thanks for your time!
Jess

Put it into bootloader mode, hook it up to your computer with USB, and run to stock image like you did with the cooked roms. That should flash it back to stock. Then, if you want to take the hspl off, you can just run the hspl program again and change it back to your lod spl. No need to use SD card.
Every time a thread like this pops up, I can't help but wish that the "flash from SD card" method and every reference to it could be eradicated from the collective consciousness of this forum and all unwitting participants who fall into this trap... at least long enough to establish that:
1) it isn't a necessary or preferred method to flash.
2) it has the potential to cause stuff like this to happen.

I got those instructions from a very popular chef on here so I was under the assumption that was the only way to revert back from HSPL
I've learned a valuable lesson here.....Leave it the hell alone!!!!

If you can get to the boot loader, then you should be able to fix this pretty easily.
I'd do this:
Get to the boot loader, check the SPL version. Do you have HSPL 2.08?
IF no, install it using HSPL2_1024_RUN, (if you want a custom ROM option), or install the standard SPL if you want to have an "unhacked" HD2, and flash the stock ROM. Done.
IF HSPL 2.08 is installed and you want it like that to install custom ROMs, then I'd do the following, just for good measure:
run MTTY/task29 to clean out all the old stuff (see my sig line)
flash the TMOUS 2.08 Radio
flash a custom TMOUS compatible ROM

No, the new version of HSPL (HSPL2_1024_RUN) has an option to re-install the standard SPL. If I wanted to do that, i'd definitely use HSPL2_1024_RUN to do it.

Ok thank you....
The SPL reverted back to the original 2.08 SPL when it began the install the stock rom (before it gave me the error) So it does not have the HSPL in it anymore.

I did try to reinstall the HSPL but when I try I get the below error from the HSPL2 proggie.

Thanks

Make sure you have the sd card out of the phone. So you get into bootloader mode, and you run the rom update from the computer? Maybe try downloading the stock rom again to make sure it's not corrupted. You should be able to flash it from your computer.
Before flashing any rom I would do task29 and completely wipe the internal memory, so you don't have any issues with left over files from the last rom. That is most likely why you started having problems in the first place. I used to think oh I can just flash a rom and it will work like new, but nope I had more problems I could deal with and almost returned the damn thing. Once you know what you are doing WM is a great OS to have and the only other phone I thought even cam eclose toa WM phone was the iPhone anyG, if i'm allowed to say that here. So, task29 first then enter bootloader and the run your customruu with any rom compatible with the TMOUS HD2 1024. Any questions just holla.

Once task29 is done, pull your battery out and replace after 10-15 secs. Then enter bootloader again and try the stock or custom rom you want. ahh ok, that IS the stock rom, but its a repack of the 2.1 rom, not an official .exe/nbh pack. (Well, my kitchen wont import it, says its not official, and it comes with customruu)
However, look for
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
which is the packed ship .exe. (and does open as official in the kitchen)
ill submit this, and see if i can find the link.

I was merely referring to HSPL1024 as the second version of HSPL....or HSPL2..... I didn't mean to create confusion... sorry about that...

so I'm kinda confused...you say that that you shouldn't flash from the sd card. and im sure you know more about this technically speaking than I do but what confuses me is I've been told and read MANY times by people probably more experience than both of us that flashing from your sd card IS the safest way to flash...im not saying your wrong but it concerns me because that is the method I use mainly for convience.but if this has the potential to destroy my very expensive device that I can't afford to replace I would REALLY like to know and know why. if anybody can guide me here why two different stories and maybe some reasons why one method had a higher chance for problems I would really appreciate it =)

It's not that its about luck is about reading which ROM is compatible.
Sorry about your brick.
Kenichi
Thats why its always important to read the stickies and the 'for noobs' postings before flashing. They stress it so many times but yet there's always someone who just doesnt read. Or if they do read they dont understand and flash anyway.
Preaching wont help you any now.
Try contacting HTC and see what they say.

Lets cut this guy a small break... based on his relatively poor spelling and grammar i don't think he can even read English. It's amazing how he got it to flash in the first place.....
That was a funny one
no have to do with read english i dont not english and i flash everything and i have android on my hd2
I had the same thing happen to me. I downloaded hspl but didnt notice that there was a difference between the leo and tmousa roms. Anyway i installed a rom and it bricked my phone. I have HSPL 2.08 installed. Does this mean i can just retry a different tmousa rom (by sd card or usb??) and im ok?
Or am i screwed too and have to go to a early version?

if you just flashed a rom, you are fine. Boot into bootloader, and flash a compatible rom. Its only radios that kill the tmous, and most custom roms dont include a radio. Its mainly the non tmous official roms you need to avoid.
so basically thats what ive been doing. i put a nbh file into a sd card and load bootloader. It doesnt seem to do anything. I found on you tube that i have to rename the file to leoimg.nbh?
do i have to do this or do i just throw a compatible nbh file and it should autoload in bootloader. Also is there a way to install 2.13.xxx the lastest tmobile stock rom from bootloader? All the ones i have been able to find are in .exe format and want me to have my device be active synced. I tried putting those on a sd card and flashing like that but i didnt do anything.
the funny thing was i really did try to flash a radio from a leo at first but it did not work after 5 attempts. Then the chucky rom finally did the trick.
Now i cant seem to flash from sd card. I dont think i know the process.
no need to flash from sd card, just go into bootloader, plug in teh usb, wait for 'serial' to become 'usb', run customruu on teh pc.
Whilst in bootloader,. check what it says next to 'spl', the number there should end '.hspl' and not '.0000'
damn im trying to install the nibbey rom but it doesnt work. I got it to go to 7% max one time and now its always 0% when i retry. I put the leo_customruu in the same folder as the nibbey nbh. and then start the customruu! is this the correct procedure?

Yes it says hspl not 0000. Also i think my batter is below 50 percent now with no way to charge it. im starting to be believe that might be the reason it stopped at 7 percent and now the more i retry i get 0%.
also i am not able to get a active sync connection anymore with my device stuck in hspl bootloader. So the whole usb rom flash fails every time. Someone help i need my phone tomorrow.
i got it fixed! turns out i needed a 2gb sd card and it worked perfectly to install a custom rom.
I will buy your brick from you dude.
Hello people, I have been going through threads and threads regarding similar problems, but having tried and failed with so many strategies, I will have to bother you all.
So the thing is I was using a CM Jellytime MOD (data on ext) in my HD2, and having frequent hangs and freezes that I thought were linked to LCD malfunction, so I ordered a new screen and digitizer to see if I could save the device. Unluckily, just before these arrived, the HD2 suffered one final freeze, after which every soft reset would give the white blank screen and nothing else. I thought that maybe I should task29 the device and re install the ROM. The bootloader can be still accessed and I re-flashed HSPL with no problems.
But I cannot get to Magldr, as you can imagine, as there is no way to go through the white blank screen. Every time I try to re-flash either the radio (2.15.50.xx), Magldr, or even task29, I get "update errors", and no changes. I tried both using the specific utilities or the NANDtoolkit, to no avail.
I even tried MTTY, which seemed to go well, but did not bring any changes to the situation. It is still the same.
This is my bootloader screen:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
CotullaHSPL 0x05
0x30
Any other info that you think may help I will post it ASAP.
I have read that maybe the NAND has finally died, but I'm not sure and would not abandon the cause without some feedback. Can someone help with this? I will greatly appreciate, I live in Argentina and I don't think I will be able to get another smartphone (I got this one from a good friend who bought himself another one) right now, or ever
If I'm lucky I may be able to sell the LCD and touchscreen replacement, ha.
Thank you all!
pd: sorry if I posted in the wrong thread but I was really confused with the whole subforum arrangement. I moderate a forum and I am aware of how painful it is to start moving threads around.
@leandrox :i recommend removing the sd-card if present, flashing hspl 2.08 again.
Then, flash radio 2.15.50 (even if you tried before, try again now). if that was successful, reflashing magldr should be the success.
Or else...
Also, try putting your hd2 in a freezer, sometimes there may be overheating problems from what i used to see

Hello @Gilbert, thanks for helping with this.
I have tried each flash with the SD and the SIM out, as I have read around about both interfering with flashing. So I guess that's not the problem.
I will try the "pre-cooling method" and tell you how it goes.
Is there any chance I should remove HSPL before re-flashing it? Also, does the battery charge while connected in bootloader mode? Because I am afraid I will finally run out of power througout the try and error processes.
Thanks again.

not sure about removing hspl... you can try that tho. as for battery, you're probably right. there's a possibility it runs out of power.
did you try flashing stock rom from sd or usb? (emphasizing on sd method)

I guess that would be the next wise step (and I'll do it with the right pre-cooling in the freezer).
Correct me if I'm wrong:
- I need a FAT32 (?) formatted SD.
- Then copy the official nbh to the root of the SD, renamed as "leoimg.nbh". (still looking for the correct download; maybe here o here?)
- Enter bootloader screen, with the SD on. After a little while, it should read "loadng" and the flashing can begin.
After this, hopefully, has worked, I should be able to:
- Reflash HSPL 2.08
- Reflash latest radio if needed.
- Reflash Magldr and Clk
- Install new Android ROM
... but I'm looking way ahead my actual hopes
EDIT: I could not download the ROM from any of the quoted sites. Maybe someone can indicate to me the right ROM from this list: http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Leo
My model is the 576 RAM one.

Correct. don't forget that the sd should be between 1 and 8 gb in size (that's what i remember, larger sizes could do weird stuff)

Thanks Gilbert! now I have work for this evening. Tomorrow morning I'll let you know how it went.
But I could not download the ROM from any of the two sites I quoted above. Maybe you can help me choose the right ROM from this list: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46839373&postcount=837
My model is the 576 RAM one.

RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe this is the one i used IIRC
Ok @Gilbert, here's the update. No good news so far.
I tried flasing the mentioned official ROM from SD card and I get the "Update terminate / Update failed" message when installing. I also tried with a custom RUU but I got the same message.
I have been reading this thread where some guy apparently had the same problem and fixed it:
"After that I made a new goldcard using Duttys Leo Sense 2.5 Multi-Lang. "
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5384679&postcount=68
but I cannot understand what this actually means. I downloaded the mentioned Dutty ROM but it is a cab file that I don't know how to flash to the HD2.
I still have a tiny hope that the phone may actually come back to life. Again, thanks a lot for helping!

for info about creating a goldcard, you should google it, i did recently and it was a bit harder then first time i did it (3 years ago)

OK. Back to work then.
I will follow this tutorial. But I see I need an ActiveSync/MobileDeviceCenter connection. I don't think you can do that when you have no OS on the phone, right? Can I do this while in the bootloader?
Should I take any additional precautions attempting the process from W8-x64?
EDIT: It seems I need another phone to put the microSD on so I can get the correct CID with RevSkills (apparently you need the device to be connected through the MobileDeviceCenter or it fails). Then I may be able to ask someone else to get me a goldcard for said CID.

I remember there being tutorials for making a goldcard, that need to have a microSD adapter only, no other device, and others that tell you how to get cid from an android phone.that doesn't require PSAS like in the tutorial you're following

I got an adapter I can put in my old PDA and get the microSD CID. @Gilbert, can you prepare Goldcard images? In the tutorial there are some users mentioned that are supposed to do it, can you recommend any of them so I can ask them for it? Thanks in advance

making goldcard is easy...
i remember getting cid and writing it reversed to http://huygens.hoxnet.com/goldcard.html (choose reversed cid iirc), downloading goldcard.img, opening sd with some hex editor (hxd i recommend) and writing goldcard.img content to it
you should read the tutorials available online, as what i said could be a lot wrong

I have tried to flash the phone with the Goldcard through this method. I am wondering wether I should expect something different after the bootloader starts, because I just get to the same point as I did when trying to flash it without the Goldcard, and getting the same failed "update terminate / update fail" message. Maybe I did not prepare the Goldcard well. Or maybe the phone mainboard ROM/NAND is simply ruined :crying:
I have to assume that the radio must be bricked. From what I read, this is the only thing that can actually brick your device when you still can get to the tricolored bootloader. Everytime I try to flash a ROM, it fails while flashing the Radio, so there has to be a hardware problem that prevents it. I still wonder how that happened.
I was running JellyTime, and then all of the sudden the phone froze and then just didn't turn on again (blank white screen). Can overheating ruin the NAND or ROM? Should I consider this battle as lost? I am so disappointed...
I read about one user who concluded that all you can do is flash a ROM with no radio, and keep the phone only as an Android device (no phone use). He told me I should get a dev or cooker to cook a radio-less ROM so I can do that. Does anyone know if there's a ROM like this I could use?
