Hello,
I will make this really short and to the point...
I am desperate in finding some super crazy cool, rich colored, entertaining, super vivid, etc etc... etc etc... GAMES for my Wizard (Cingular 8125)
I got QUAKE running and that's sort of cool.... it is a bit slower then I'd like it to be but still neat nonetheless...
So please, put me out of my misery and help me out here...
Let me know what are some super cool games...
Where can I find "demos" (hint hint) of these games...
Are there any great emulators worth considering.... and more important where the heck do I find the damn ROMs for them...
Share the wealth/knowledge - PPPPPLEASE
Thanks

I have downloaded the four files which ones are needed to be installed?
Can you please provide some directions? Thanks..
Unzip the gfdoom_zip and then add doom1.wad file from the website then transfer whole folder into \storage card\program files on the device. Create a shortcut to gfdoom.exe and off you go. To get to landscape mode in doom select options - low resolution and it switches.
its switching to landscape but its upside down

i've been playing tetris... nothing gets better than that. i really don't like the high-end games that require you to do a lot. something simple that just uses the d-pad is cool by me. i'm looking for pac-man, and maybe some good card games.

Can anyone recommend any good scrolling shoot-em-ups? I used to love playing SWIV, Xenon 2 Megablast, Project X, etc. back in the days of the Amiga.
I'd also like to find something along the lines of like Hexic (free puzzle game on the XBox360 HDD), Columns, Puzzle Bobble, etc. Fond memories of Breakout too, so a PPC equivalent would be cool.
A remake of the great X-com PC game. This will keep you busy for ages. Completely free

try spb airislands it is great lil stategy game with 3 mini puzzle games one alike puzzle bobble one like the old pong game but where you knock down the ceiling and one where you cut up wood also works great with universal as is a vga version or standard
Allright, after much trial and error. I have installed 72 thousand different games in my hermes, I have narrowed down all of the list to just a few.
OK, get these.
Age Of Empires Gold Edition - Woo gotta have it.
Flux Challenge - Kinda a space racing game, cool music, really showcases some of the potential cool graphics of the Hermes.
Pocket UFO - X-COM: UFO Enemy Unknown - It's absolutely free too! I can't stop playing this game, it is rated as the number 1 best game of all time by IGN magazine!!! http://pc.ign.com/articles/082/082403p1.html check it out. Honestly I HONESTLY LOVE THIS GAME.... Play it, you won't be able to stop, and it is free, you can find it anywhere on the interweb. EHEHHE
Pocket Nester - So cool, then I put every cool nintendo rom on my device (that I actually own of course hehehehe)
Snails v2.0 - Little worms clone type game, kinda fun
Tower Of Souls - Looks awesome, I havn't played it yet, but one day I will ehhehhe, a diablo style looking game.
Warring Nations - Looks really cool, kinda like Age of Empires
ScummVM - Lucasarts Emulator, I have actually seriously purchased all of the Scumm games ever made, I am a lucasarts freak, and they all work, even, Full Throttle, this is honestly one of the most amazing features of the Hermes! ehheeh. serious.
FreeSCI - Sierra SCI Emulator - Play Codename Iceman, Kings Quest 4-6, Space Quest 3-5, everything on the Hermes. Now the only problem with this emulator is it runs a little slow. I have however played Space Quest 3 without much of a problem. So nice.
Ok everyone, there has got to be a billion games out there, lets make a fun list... cuz why did we get a Hermes if it wasn't for anything else other than to show the stupid psp guy sitting next to you that he wasted his money.
Solitaire City - a Collection of card games with online hiscore, very addictive
-Kha
Hehe, nice list
I liked the scumm, thank you, I will definetly try these out ^^
And try out:
Arvale: Short Tales is a light Role Playing Game with Four separate stories to choose from. Now this is a real good game, the same maker has some really nice other role playing games
some games I play on my device are:
realdice multiplayer championship poker (you can also play this game over internet with eg umts or gprs)
astraware bejeweled 2
worms world party - awsome!
astraware zuma
spb arkaball
spb bubbles
I'm currently playing Syberia. An adventure with nice graphics.
From the graphics point of view, I still prefer TombRaider, which actually is an exact clone of the first part for the Playstation.
What is regarding the bragging in front of a PSP guy: Forget about it. I own a PSP and despite of its much higher graphics abilities (watch Wipeout and Syphon Filter), the controls and the screen are just better, period. Maybe one day the graphic capabilities of PPCs will be the same, but still, the handling and controls is just awful for many games. Some games are great with the touchscreen but for most games, the gameplay is crap.
Sometimes on the closet, PPC games are good, such as Kevtris, but for real gaming, I stick to my PSP or XBox.
Couple more to add to the list that I play a lot, all are not free/shareware i'm afraid:
Arvale II (PDAMill): Top down RPG with turn based battle system.
Multiplayer Championship Poker (Real Dice): Texas Hold 'Em over the net, has single player mode as well.
Monopoly (Handmark): Bit sad I know but it's a classic
SkyForce (Infinate Dreams): The definative screen scrolling shooter
Street Duel (Pixelogic): 3D Racer
Warfare Inc (Handmark): Great C&C clone. No net play but multiplayer over bluetooth. Think this a better choice over Strategic Assault
I also have Worms World Party, Tomb Raider and Flux Challenge but they have already been mentioned and I agree that they are a must have. Pocket UFO is wicked if your an old XCOM/UFO lover (ME!!) and as said in an earlier post it is completely free.
S.K.
KRally, Edge, Skyforce Unlimited, some 4Pockets and Inscenic titles, SuperTux, Gold Miner Joe - my personal picks from the last year.
Also make sure you check out my games reviews in the General forum here
I have a quick question...
What games are specifically multiplayer over the internet... is texas holdem the only one? this I think could be the coolest feature for some games like monopoly and what have you... but alas I think a lot of people would probably cut off because they would be at work or something... LOL
http://software.palminfocenter.com/product.asp?id=8859
Played with it a few minutes and bought it! If you try it put the 8525 on landscape before you launch the app. Its a little hard to move left and right with the joy stick but after a while it okay and the game is ver cool.

Check out my Multiplayer Bible; it's been linked in from several of my games review (make a forum search for "Multiplayer Bible" in the General forum). It discusses all the multiplayer titles.
Maybe a noob question but are these games PC versions or Pocket PC versions. Just that i've got a few old PC games and was wondering if its possible to install them on my PPC. If their PC versions how would i go about installing them on my PPC.
Thanks for any help its appreciated

I dont think thats possible. you might be able to play old DOS games using
Dosbox. But im not sure.
My favourite game is Syberia. Definately the PPC. But 200MB heavy.
Then Riven and Myst, followed by Return to Mysterious Island.
Also good:
Ages of Empires Gold
Need For Speed
Brainstorm
Resco Diamonds
Quartz2
Warlords II
Doom
Anthelion
Argentum
Everquest Trilogy
Yahtzee (very fun)
Arvale 1 and 2
man, i have so many games, i dont know how to finish this list.
How do you guys get these old Windows/DOS games to work on your phone? I've got a BUNCH of them and would love to be able to play them again.
Although they are the same titles, they are especially rewritten/ported for PPC.
Some of them have just the executables ported, and use the same level/map/artwork files from the original CDs, so it's a good thing that you still have them.
But no, your Win/DOS collection won't work on PPC out of the box, but you could search for the titles on PocketPC gaming and software sites to find what your options are.
OK. Thanks for the info.

Pretty much forget them - it's only with selected games that emulation works (see for example Legend Entertainment's old adventures played on VGA Pocket PC's under Pocket DOS).
However, there're interpreters, whoich do interpret for example Lucasfilm and sierra games. Also see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1095219&postcount=8 and, of course, my articles ("General" forum here); I've published a lot of info on this question in my articles too.
Gamez Gamez Gamez!!!
Woo.. didn't realize people had such a passion for games.. thought it was just me!... Allright.. I am going to try all of these games posted here, for some reason, I baught Syberia and installed it on my HTC but it never actually worked, just figured I wasted my money and stuff... but that was with the Japanese-O rom on there, so I will try it again with the English rom and report back, I will update my games list in a couple days with a short review of each game. But still my number one favorite game thing.. is the Lucasarts Emulator ScummVM, honestly, it is perfect for a haldheld device. Even a couple games are free for it like Beneath a Steel Sky and something else I can't remember, get it, install it, then install day of the tenticle and sam&max hit the road... man o man.. are those games ever entertaining on the HTC, paired with a bluetooth wireless headset, it is just unbeatable. Next if we could just get the other Bluetooth stack runnning properly ... we would be set.. oh well.. i guess patience is a virtue.... or so my mom sayz.

I've just got KRally but am having problems with it on my MDA Vario II.
1) It doesn't seem to handle 2 button presses, e.g. if I'm accelerating and then turn (using hte d-pad), the car stops going until I press accelerate again!
2) using the stylus to steer causes pretty bad slowdown
Anyone got any suggestions on how to avoid either of these problems?
I've e-mailed their support but no word yet.
cheers
It seems that this is a known D-pad issue of Hermes. Combined with other hardware presses, D-pad behaves this way.
Some solutions would be:
- set auto acceleration AND auto turbo in K-Rally options, so you don't have to press other buttons except D-pad
- use arrow keys on the physical keyboard instead, they work ok combined with any other button (yes, K-Rally works great in landscape, too)
- map left-right in game options to other buttons (although I tried mapping them to softkey buttons and the game slowed to a crawl)
As reported on the net, the D-pad issue is known to HTC and maybe (hopefully) they will address it sometime:

Does anyone know where to find some good games for the Universal. Not like those crappy QVGA and stupid puzzle games. Like any action games, 3D, stuff of that sort. I already have whack a gnome (hammer heads), nutcracker (this game sucks btw), bejeweled2 and zuma.
I haven't really been able to find any games, makes me sad that the processor goes to waste not having some 3D games.

lol snails is a worms copy
Has anyone got any links or games for the titan.
Many thanks
Check out Pocketgear.com or Handago.com for a large list of PocketPC programs, including games.
Astraware is one of my favorites for games as well. I like their board game and solitaire game packs. Zuma, Text Twist, Word Mojo, Sudoku, and Platypus are also good ones in my opinion.
Real Dice as some very nice card games that can be played against others online, which is kinda cool, though it is hard to find players at times.
Sorry... you asked for links, here's links to the sites I mentioned above:
http://www.astraware.com/
http://www.realdice.com/games
Also check out this site: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/
I can't judge on the quality of anything there, but it does have one nice attribute: FREE.
EDIT: No longer needed, forum mods have resolved.
PS. Have you looked into Shadows of Legend I think it's called? Apparently it's a MMORPG you can play online from your windows mobile client. I just came across the website today and will download it onto my PC and load it onto my titan when I get home to see if such a thing actually does work. Lord knows I have hours to waste at my job on downtime and would love to fill some time in with a solid RPG. It's also free but you have an option to purchase credits or something for additional things? again not 100% sure how this exactly works will read more on it and post a review at a later date in case this is of interest to anyone on the site. Happy hunting and if you find some really good games let me know!

There is a giant thread at ppcgeeks, with free and paid games. Here is a link:
Games
Here are the games I have and really enjoy so far. You can find these easily by Googling them:
1. Legacy: An absolutely amazing Wizardry-like role playing game. You can have up to 4 characters of a variety of classes and the view is quasi-first person. You go through dungeons, caves, wilderneses, and towns. There are shops and NPCs and side quests. The game is massive and there are official expansions and player modded expansions. Really a wonderful game if you like FRPGs and one of the few games I have actually paid for.
These guys have a new game called Quest that is Legacy but even better, with aclhemical and crafting rules and better graphics.
I cannot recommend Legacy enough.
2. MBroPoker: A disclaimer, as the author is my uncle, but this is a great 7 card stud program against 6 other AI players, each with differing "personalities". The graphics are a bit fuzzy on the cards, but you can change them to letter reps (for example, AH = Ace of Hearts) and it looks much better.
3. Leo's Flight Simulator and Leo's Space Combat Simulator: People are still amazed at how much stuff Leo packed into these programs. The Flight Sim is a full blown Flight Sim, and you had better know how to work one to have a chance of not crashing. Includes all sorts of weird aviation accurate stuff like radio freqs, talking to the towers, etc. Has scenery for New York, San Fran, and WW1 Paris. Has over 30 types of planes, including towed gliders. has settings for time of day, cloud cover, thermals, etc. Amazingly complicated.
Space Simulator is a space combat game where you are the pilot and have missions to blow up enemies using lasers and missiles. Less complicated than Flight Sim. Neat sound effects too.
The big problem with both of these games is that there is no documentation in the programs. You have to download the PC versions and then they have documentation. Even then, the author is Italian, and the documentation is in English but not the best.
But if you have the patience to test these out (and if you have Flight Sim experience for the Flight Sim) these are awesome.
4. Pocket Humanity: Civilization on the Pocket PC. If you like Civ, you will enjoy Pocket Humanity. No...the graphics are old school (ala Civ 1), but the play is decent and you can have a huge world with up to 17 AI!! All the nations are present, the techs, many different types of units, Wonders, everything you would expect from a turn-based Civ-like game.
5. Pocket UFO: An almost exact port of Xcom UFO for the pocket PC. Excellent graphics, wonderful unit encyclopedia. No instructions...so you need to essentially download the manual for the original Xcom game. Not too hard to find this in PDF format. Xcom is routinely voted the best PC game of all time, and so this being an almost exact port...well draw your own conclusions.
6. Pocket Conquer and Pocket General: These are shareware, though the free portion is entirely playable (you just cannot change settings). Conquer is Risk. general is Stratego. They play EXACTLY like the boardgames with some setting mods if you so desire. They play well and are very well designed. When I get tired of the free mode I will pay for these...they are that good. The AI on Risk is very accomplished against a human player (against the other AI they don't do as well).
7. Pocket Uno, Pocket Racko, Pocket Parchisi: These are by the same develo0per and they are all excellent. The Uno is better than even the commercial Uno pgoram put out by the real owners of the game.
8. Pocket Millebornes: I love millebornes, and this is the best program I have found for the game.
9. Trip Yahtzee: Best freeware yahtzee game I have seen. Allows up to 2 players.
Other games I have not played enough to comment upo but they look promising:
Creatonia: A very detailed RPG.
Crimson Fields: A tactical turn based hexagon wargame with many scenarios. Looks very nice.
Regards,
Devin

Thanks but the software doesn't mention windows mobile compatibility.
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck finding any decent touch screen based (non d-pad) games for our HD's yet?
Without the d-pad it seems a lot of games simply don't work so I thought I might start a thread to see what sites, or sources people have found any games that work well on the HD2's. Do share!
P.S. It also might be helpful to identify any "virtual" d-pad applications that would allow us to play older games that had previously been made for the d-pad...
surely in this day and age we should be looking for games that use things like the acceleration sensor so we can lean or tilt to interact..
Try Experiment 13,
from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587176
One of the better games for WinMo, imo.
I would certainly recommend Need for Speed Undercover and apart from looking into the thread dedicated to games on HD2 in the Themes and Applications forum here.
Thanks, where is this thread you mention?

http://www.pocketmoregames.com/azgard.htm is also a great game I got it for my touch diamond at the moment, but its kinda small on the little 2.8" screen But im sure it will look lots better on that sexy 4.3" screen which i will own in just a week or so
RISK! from EA
Gameloft has lots of touchscreen games.
I can't install Azgard in WM 6.5. It says Azgard is not a valid application?
Azgard works - but only in theory. With the fast processor of the HD2 the game is unplayable. I did not find a way to slow it down.
Maybe it slow down with the Anti-Stutter mode of Chainfire's HD2 3D Driver Patch. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593328
Azgard works on HD2, but the game is not designed to run on Wide VGA, so when you run it, you get to see the "desktop" behind on the right. Also, I find Azgard hard to play with fingers, as composed to a stylus which will work better with the tiny buttons. Have to look for a stylus that works on the capacitive screen.
I think these are cool
GalaxyHopper, Tripplix, Jumba.
will get me in trouble so I'll just edit it into thev abyss....sorry guy's Christmas is cancelled...
