Opera tries to open rtsp-links which results in an error page. IE automatically opens the streaming media player when I click on a RTSP-link. It's quit anoying, off course I want to use Opera. Does anybody know how to let Opera automatically open the streming media player?

I'm trying to stream music to my phone.
I loaded the opera browser and GSplayer... (I have an ampache site at home serving up playlists). If I try to start a playlist from the page, opera say's that it needs to download 'playlist.m3u' and to do so, it may have to exit... click o.k. -> I.E. opens and says it wants to save 'song.php'. I then look at the song.php, and it's 0 bytes long. No *.m3u ever gets saved anywhere.
Incidentally, what's strange, is if I download it with I.E. it's NOT 0 bytes long... and if I rename 'song.php' to 'song.m3u'. GSplayer then plays it fine...
The whole idea is to be able to click on a playlist and not have to rename anything manually.
Is there away way I can have a mobile browser that support *.m3u... or at least not 'rename it to *php???
Update: I've installed minimo (mozzila mini), and it saves the .m3u just fine... everything works fine minimo.
Hi all,
So Napster recently launched their web-based player. If you go to free.napster.com in IE or Firefox, you can listen to 5 full tracks for free without registering, and without downloading anything. It's simply streamed from a regular webpage. Should you decide to sign up for unlimited, it's the usual $9.99/month all you can eat subscription.
Well, I tried listening on my Kaiser with WM6... no go I tried it in PIE (with PIE Plus) Opera Mini, and Opera Mobile. With all of them the player screen comes up with the selected song appearing to have loaded, but the song doesn't play. You can press the play button, and the button appears to respond, but nothing plays.
I'm hoping some of you experts can have a look at the player on your desktop pc and see why it won't work. I've got Flash on my phone, but there must be more to the player...
Come on guys... show me what you can do!
Hi,
Can someone please help me with the following 2 concerns with my HTC HD2:
1. Unable to create folders for SMS/e-mail. The phone has the new HTC Messaging system which does not allow folders to be created. Need a Fix!
2. Unable to view streaming videos on the phone.
In Internet Explorer the Windows Media Player does appear but the video does not play.
In Opera think its Opera Mobile 9.7 the window does not even show the media player.
Request you to please help me with these concerns.
Thanks!
1 - search for how to disable htc messaging and go back to using windows mobile messaging instead.
2 - what you trying to stream? example please ?
How can you disable that, SMS/MMS will not work is what has been published by ppl.
Any weblink that plays live video, does not work.
not by people on this forum. anyway if it stops working just re enable it, but I bet it doesnt stop working.... go on....bet ya..... hehe
i have problem with streaming media too, it doesn't work. i tried to use rtsp streaming media links but it doesn't work at all. if anyone knows how to use it, it will be very appriciative.
Ps sorry for bad english
For streaming video:
If you are connected to a wireless network, (especially if it is one owned by your work), turn off wi-fi and try through the provider network. Many work networks block streaming media to preserve bandwidth.
It seems like the basic music player doesn't support streams, there doesn't appear to be any support in windows media player for streams either...
In the end I searched for some tools and GSplayer came up as supporting streams, so i tried that and copied the CAB install file to the storage card, it showed up in the start menu...I can run it and open a URL or local .pls file and it starts to stream...you see the percentage buffer quickly shoot up to 100% but then nothing happens...no audio, nothing.
I'm basically trying to play audio from an internet radio station I use a lot at home (xfm.nl) if you click "Luister Live" on the left you'll see shortcuts for all the streams.
Can anyone help? My settings are OK I think, I can get to the internet and recieve my email and use all the web based apps, so I don't think its a connection thing...maybe GSPlayer just doesn't support the HD2?
Try Skyfire browser.

I have WunderRadio but since you know the stream you want to play coreplayer will open it.
I just tried this using Skyfire and GSPlayer.
I clicked on the Winamp mobile link, and it downloaded the .pls stream to my storage card. GSPlayer opened automatically. I've set GSPlayer to own .pls files, so maybe that would help.
Just tried clicking on the downloaded .pls file and it also opens up GSPlayer. Hope that helps! At least you know that it can work
I want to know something fairly similar, is it possible to make a player stream a song or file instead of having to download it first. Sometimes with very large files I just want to play it and let it download as it plays instead of waiting for the entire file to download before being able to play it.
Try Groovemobile or nanogroove.
I just upgraded from a Touch Pro 2.
I have a few shoutcast .pls files I used to open and stream in coreplayer 1.3.6 build 7427 with no problems.
I have changed from o2 to orange but all other streaming seems ok (e.g nanogroove/groovemobile/youtube/myplayer etc).
On the HD2 when I try to open the .pls files I get an unknown file format (0106) error or sometimes coreplayer just crashes.
Anyone know how to get coreplayer working with there files again?
I enjoy accessing last.fm using the skyfire browser.
Try SPB Radio, pretty good!
I just wanted to thank everyone posting suggestions, I will be trying some of them out soon
There is also coreplayer which handles .pls and .m3u file attachments.

I just tried this on my N7. I started Google Play Music playing local mp3's stored on the N7. I was able to then switch to the open tasks and choose one and the music kept playing. I was also able to touch the Home button and went to the home screen with the music still playing. I could start any other apps and the music still played. Not sure what is happening with yours. Are you sure you weren't streaming over wi-fi? I'm stock rom, rooted.
use this player
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5tYXhtcHouYXVkaW9wbGF5ZXIiXQ..
when you go out of the main app, it will make a player in the notification, making it able to play even on other apps...
hope it helps,
its free...
