i have read about a few problems with 2.9... are these rare? should i get 2.8?
is modaco the best?
Thats like asking whats best an Audi or the BMW, it very much depends on what you are looking for. Personally i am using the Modaco 2.9 ROM at the moment and it is running perfectly.
Modaco is a master chef.
I like 2.8 for more memory after flash. About 150mb. With 2.9 memory reduced to less than 130mb. So I picked 2.8! Whichever version you decide to flash--- They are all deliciously prepared by a master chef.
right, but is everything working in Modaco roms? I mean hardware.
or those problems with not working wi-fi and so on concerns 1.6 ports?
Oh come on!
I call Modaco a Master Chef for nothing????
Everything work but Alas! It will not brew a cup of tea for me!
so... I have to check it out.
thanks!
Hi,
I'm running modaco generic rom though.

With the release of the new WM 6.1 official ROM, I am now ready to finally upgrade to it, but I am just wondering, which one should I choose to install. The official sprint release, or the DCD 3.2.0 one, I have never installed a custom ROM before so i would also have to unlock my phone or whatever. All I really want is the best speed, stability, and RAM. I want all the features to work, like task manager, internet sharing, TCPMP, WMWifiRouter etc... So which would be better for my needs, or are they both too buggy and should i just stick with the official WM 6.0 ROM that i am currently running?
Killer, You have a tough choice!! if you want the best speed with a slim down rom without the bloat that sprint loads on it, then I would go with DCD. I've had his roms for over a year now and upgrade every time he comes up with a new version.
Both The official and DCDs work just great. I like the ability to cook my own programs on my phone. There is a small bug on DCDs 3.2 right now but I'm sure he will fix in no time.
and about unlocking!!! Just flash Olipro 2.40 and that will take care of any future flashing. Also Read the Wiki... it will help you decide!
Good Flashing!!!
DCD's ROM's will always outperform carrier stuff because DCD strips out the useless crap/junk like SQLCE, and other nonsense that no one cares about or uses.
Plus, DCD is a certified pimp. You cant go wrong with that.

He is pretty gangsta, thats for sure. If you want it all, go with DCD. And by all i mean stability and speed with memory. Use his kitchen and build a rom with only what you need in it.

We can't argue with this!!!!
If you flash a sprint ROM you're probably going to stick with it until the next official sprint ROM comes out.. which is NEVER (this is the LAST update sprint is doing to their moguls).
If you flash a dcd ROM you're probably going to stick with it until the next dcd ROM comes out.. which will probably be in the near future (days or weeks).
I think a better question for yourself is how far are you REALLY willing to go?
flashing custom ROMs is kinda like CRACK. once you start, it's really hard to stop.
Thanks for the informative responses, so basically, all I need to do is install/flash olipro 2.4 and then I can upgrade to custom ROMs as I would to any official ROM?
If so is there a very easy to follow guide on how to use olipro and install a kitchen?

DCD Roms
So any of his current versions include Sprint Navigation ? That is one app I can't live without....
hi all i have the first batch of hd2's from mobilephonesdirect.com and the specs are
1.43.405.1 WWE rom
5.2.21864 OS
2.5.1920 MANILA
2.04.50.22.2 RADIO
now id like to flash my hd2 as ive had it awhile and at first just installed everything everywhere and now i know what apps i want id like a clean install, i was going to just hard reset it but then thought seen as theirs new roms i should install one for the fixes they offer. so i have one simple question....
should i install the latest official rom from htc 1.66 or would it benefit me more installing a custom rom, keep in mind this is a first for me and i would like a custom rom if possible to gain some extra features they offer
can someone link me to the best custom rom to date please and also are they easy to install
you should do your homework and read m8. then happy flashing.
im reading up on the info now matey, could i ask whats the best custom rom todate.. most stable and clean, also how is their some with more ram and cpu hacks, where can i find out more info on this as it seems weird htc putting higher amounts of ram in these hd2's and then not showing it, also whats this 1ghz hack ??

Mate,
could you post your thoughts here too I am well interested too, I have had my HTC HD2 for 8 hours now and its a beauty!!!
I have pretty much decided to:
- Check SPL version
- Install HSDL
- Install Dutty's LEO Holy Grail V0.9
- Stick a SNES emulator on it.
Mark.
there is no 'best custom rom' and if you HAD been reading up you would have seen that that question gets asked a dozen times per day, and never gets an answer.
actually threads like that get closed.

Starting with HSPL is the best choice, then your options are greater.
You'll get many opinions on ROMs, and all our chef's are great, and do fantastic work but like anything, it is a matter of taste.
For me, Dutty's HG is a good place to start. It is close to stock, but with some great custom features. It is my choice, as it suits my needs/style of using my phone the best, but my all means, you should experiment.
I have read alot and the process/method seems like something I can cope with, I suppose the only question is:
If I should wait for longer than 8 hours
Nice piece of kit for sure though.....
Mark.
That's up to you, but what are you waiting for?
What is the best/stable ROM or AOSP out right now?
I have used....
- Gumbo 1.5 (plain and boring but of course a great ROM, just not visually)
- Fresh 1.1 (great all around)
This is has been asked time & time again. Please search. And really the best ROM for one person isn't necessarily the best ROM for someone else. Please do the research on each ROM's differences & hell maybe even flash a few; it takes a few minutes & you can always go back if you make a Nandroid backup.

Gumbo was plain and boring? Wow, that's news to me... You must have not customized it then, because its an excellent ROM. Every ROM has its pros and cons, that said; you'll have to test all of them to really get a feel for what you like.
All the 1.5 ROM's are very stable, the AOSP's have some minor problems (BT issues, last I checked), and of course there's the 2.0/2.1 ROM's, which have issues and need work and are still being worked on for that matter.
Again, there is not "perfect" ROM, you need to test for yourself and figure out what you like. As long as you do a Nandroid backup, testing all the ROM's shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.
plus the 2.x ROMs are missing the camera framework (though the DEVs are working on this!)
Anything not based on 1.5 has been found to have bluetooth issues
Plus 1.6 might get you SMS problems.
What official ROM are you using?
Please choose and also say on the thread.
Mention if you're using custom ROM as well.
You be the judge.
I'm using Dutty's HG 1.7
Why? I always revert back to Dutty's ROM after using anyone else's ROM because I find his ROM's to be very stable and its stock-like, which allows me to install mods however I want to.
Quiet honestly, you just have to try out the ROMs for yourself, there are plenty of chefs out there that have different tastes, and one of them is bound to be your choice. Just as an example, NRG's Energy ROMs is completely customized when you flash it, CleanEX ROMs are "clean" (only has necessary programs for the phone to run)....those are just a couple that come out of the top of my head.
Just experiment, and you be the judge, don't let others make the decision for you! It only takes a few minutes to flash a ROM!
Happy flashing!
I'm cooking and using my own rom simply because i can't get
the same enhanced experience with any stock rom out of the box.
Best of all roms and mods/enhancements combined.
artemis v8 - why? because it is simply the best rom on our planet!
the only neg point - it doesn´t have the 576mb ram support.

to some that is a good thing!!!
with stock I had 70MB storage lefter after I did all my installs.
On Duttys HG 1.6 I had 170MB free after the same installs.
AS for free memory i had 172MB free on 1.48 stock.
On HG1.6 I have 300MB free.
I never crunched through 172, let alone 300!!!. But given the 576MB I now have a shorter battery life (but not by much), but also some call quality and stability issues, and internet reliability.
2.09 radio is the best IMO.
p.s. I chose Duttys HG because at the time it was 35554 build with the most stripped out and i was looking to test the build. Now there is tons of choice though.
This thread will be locked soon, especially as it's in the wrong forum for a start!!
But I use my own ROM for the record

Maybe not. digitalhater does not ask the best
I'm using a cooked rom. L26V3.0 ultimatepower. because i like the skinning, functionality, stability and speed
Should still be moved to general though!
Using Artemis 8.0 SVE, since its the only swedish custom/cooked ROM i can find. Simple as that.
artemis
artemis rom because:
- the rom is very stable and fast, also very close to stock so i can use the customization i want
- i like the philosophy behind the project: high tech rom based on the latest hd2 packages, no tricks and gimmicks, only the real thing
- i like the sternas' work ethic and his attitude toward his "customers"
I'm using my own custom ROM. I've tried several different ones by chefs, but I always return to my own because it has everything I like and my own custom icons.
I'm using AxLor Leo V.9 WWE Lite Edition. I chose this ROM because it's fast, has cool looking icons already cooked into it and it got everything I need.
Clean EX
Because Stable and very good Job for memory !
1.72 so
duttys HG roms - becouse i follow his work on my diamond, and only dutty roms i had installed on diamond longer than 2weeks, now on HD2 use becouse i know how much experience he must have witch rom building...
I also use Dutty's HG 1.7. it is generally very stable ( should i say less bugs) and very close to bare stock rom
ROM = ROMeOS
Why = it an enhanced OS rom with simple, clean & stable specs.
Not the best one but it only takes less than 15 mins to test it & u can flash other rom back

exactly the same idea as this, cant argue with that.
MIRI,s 23544 V11.
The most up to date ron, exceptionally smooth, stable, fast anx also close to stock but with much better looks.
the best roms for leo?..
simple.. see in my signature
I'm using RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_Ship and I've just noticed that I have the GPS Photo options in the camera by default. I have no program such as HD 2 Tweaks or BSB Tweaks installed.
It's a clean install of the original ROM and a Task29 has been performed before installing it.
However, it doesn't work...the "Initializing GPS" keeps on loading (didn't tried this outside).
Anyone else has this option by default? Is it a faulty ROM?
I don't think the option should be there however. It's a stock ROM and no tweaks applied so...this is why it's strange. Can anyone confirm?
So, I installed the Energy Cookie ROM yesterday. I really like all the icons and whatnot, but for me, it seems to run a little slower than the stock ROM + Tweaks, and the animations are slightly laggy. So, I'm going to change.
I am thinking that since the stock ROM ran so well, maybe that's my best bet. So, if I am possibly switching back anyway, I am wondering if there is a stock'ish ROM that is slightly cooked to remove some bloatware, and I can add my own stock apps back if needed? Anyone know of a good ROM that fits the bill? I'd be open to a chef ROM if it will run faster than stock and has the bugs (at least the vast majority of them) worked out. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Also, and I will search in a sec, but I'm already posting this so I might as well ask (if I find an answer, I'll edit this), since I installed the HSPL, and I flashed the ROM via USB (not the SD Card), am I right in thinking I can just flash a new (TMOUS compatible) ROM without any other mods or processes (I'll hard reset after)?
Thanks. I'll flash something as soon as I get some replies, so bring on the suggestions! Again, Thanks!

Best one I've found, right here.
Mine is as stock as you can get for the TMOUS HD2, same layout as EURO HD2...runs fast,stable....and is completely null of TMOUS bloatware....

yes, it's called Miri's Rom i belive. i've been using it since may and oh my, everything is smooth and it even has e reader tab and there are like 10 books included! that is the only customized thing in that rom. trust me, you will like it! Unforunately, the version i have has been discontinued, but if you can give me your email address, i can email the rom to you. But the newer one has 4 shortcuts, instead of regular 3 on homepage, and has rssfeed ready. You can see it for your self http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1786 but i like the one that got discontinued because it looks like stock rom rather than custom rom.
I have been on a hunt for the cleanest and fastest stock version, I was about to switch to Wild Child's but I realize this one is a bit more cleaner:
