If you do not want to write Chinese on your phone then you can:
1) Download a chinese TTF format font file to your phone. Find one msyh.tff from your Windows PC \Windows\font folder. Copy the ttf file to your phone \Windows
2) Add following values to your registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink
Name="Courier New" value="\Windows\MSYH.ttf,MSYH" datatype="string"
name="Tahoma" value="\Windows\MSYH.ttf,MSYH" datatype="string"
name="Helvetica Neue OTS" value="\Windows\MSYH.ttf,MSYH" datatype="string"
name="HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin" value="\Windows\MSYH.ttf,MSYH" datatype="string"
name="HelveticaNeue LT 55 Roman" value="\Windows\MSYH.ttf,MSYH"
3) Soft reset your phone.
Do not use the chinese font cab file on the internet which may cause outlook and other application not work.
You can use this cab to install A4 input for typing Chinese. It does not come with Chinese font.
did someone try this freeware :

Many thanks! This tweak works perfectly on my HD2 and my Manila Contact stop giving me [][] anymore. I think it will also do for other machines with Manila 3D 3.0 customROM.

I will made my own registry tweak solution inside a *.cab file via a included _setup.xml. this works for my with the most registry entries. but there is one that will not work, wehen i include a _setup.xml with this setting, the *.cab can not be installed.
<parm name="Default" datatype="string" value="\Windows\wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete"/>

the problem is the value with %1 in double quotes. how can i made this entry correctly ?
another question is: how can i made small user form, to ask the user, to install all of this registry setting or only this or this entry ? do i need a vidual c++ ide for this ? or is there a freeware solution available ?
If you know c++ the IDE is free. Just search MS site for embedded visual c++ 4.
For what you want to do you can't use a cab since you can't force a cab to install part of its settings. You would need to write a "tweak" program if you want to let the user choose which registry to change.
No idea on the quotes though.
I have found a solution for the quotes problem. i have changed theline to
<parm name="Default" datatype="string" value='\Windows\wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete'"/>

and now it works.
i will try the ide in the next days, i have worked with borland's c++ builder 5 for some years... i hope its nearby the same... thanks for your help...

PROBLEM - not for major languages (English, ...)
Hey Guys,
since my Mobile Shell is not english version and windows environment neither, I had a problem with some characters when using Diamond Theme.
I solved it by updating font files:
neue helvetica 55 roman.ttf
neue helvetica 35 thin.ttf
neue helvetica 57 condensed.ttf
It is now updated with Czech characters, but more can be easily added.
For installing these new ones simply copy them to Windows\Font\ directory on your PPC.
If you already have older version of these files, windows might not permit you to overwrite it (especially when SPB is running). So try renaming old files to whatever you like (windows should permit that) and then copy the new ones.
You can delete the old renamed files aftter a restart, which is required for the changes to take effect anyways.
If you wanna some more characters in other languages, just post a reply, I will go by soon and may add them too.
OR
If anyone wants a short guide how to add the character by himself.
Dave
neue helvetica 35 thin.ttf
neue helvetica 55 roman.ttf

Finnish T9 for me, if someone knows solution...
Found a sloution
Hi
found solution, wanted to shere with you, description could be nicer - but have no time. Here it is for danish:
OK guys, I was able to add the Danish xT9 Dictionary sonyericsson Xperia X1
What I did:
1 - Get from the links in previous posts the files from you language, for danish we have this 4 files:
- spd.4x4.Danish.kdb
- spd.5x4.Danish.kdb
- hpd.5x4.Danish.kdb
- DAlsUN.ldb
2 - Copy this 4 files to windows folder. (I not 100% sure you only need this three files, because I still didn't have the time to test it from scratch).
3 - Open Registry Editor: (Look at the other languages how they are set up)
a) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\ezsip -> Add REG_DWORD Library5 with value 5 and change the LibraryCount value to 6 (or even better 16 then you are sure to get access to your installed t9 language)
b) Go to this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx
and check what's the LCIDHex for your language, you only want the last 2 digits. For example english is 09 and danish is 06. This 2 numbers will be referenced from now on as XX.
c) Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME\KDbFiles and add a REG_SZ with the name 06XX and the value hpd.5x4.Danish.kdb -> Of course you should change the Portuguese for the language you are adding (it should be the name of one of the files you copied to windows folder.
d) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ldbfiles -> add a REG_SZ with the name 01XX and the value DAlsUN.ldb (the value should be the name of the ldb file of the language you are adding.
e) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\KdbFiles -> Add a REG_SZ with the name 0AXX with the value spd.4x4.danish.kdb and another REG_SZ with the name 0BXX with the value spd.5x4.danish.kdb.
Add another REG_SZ with the name 0CXX and the value spd.Lqwerty.danish.kdb and
Add another REG_SZ with the name 0DXX and the value spd.Pqwerty.danish.kdb
f) Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\ and in “availableLanguages” add the LCIDHex for your language (in this example danish 06, ie 0106, remember to separate from the other languages with a “,” comma
g) Now go to and Add your language that you want to add :
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyboardIDMapping">
name="01XX" value="09XX" datatype="string" />
Here is examples from other languages “0106” being Danish, use only the latter 2 digits to the right of both entrances (here 06) the first 2 digits in the entrances being fixed as shown here
<parm name="0106" value="0906" datatype="string" />
<parm name="010B" value="090B" datatype="string" />
<parm name="011D" value="091D" datatype="string" />
<parm name="0114" value="0914" datatype="string" />
<parm name="010C" value="090C" datatype="string" />
<parm name="0107" value="0907" datatype="string" />
<parm name="0110" value="0910" datatype="string" />
<parm name="010A" value="090A" datatype="string" />
This worked for me

try this here
thanks for the reply but i'm hoping to do this via registration @ OS install rather than through software post wm6.5 setups...
any one else able to create a reg to implement it?
i can not belive
nobody willing to help you
you can fix it yourself !!!
if you just used the "search button"
for bug correcting
1. correct the bug
2. open an reg editor
3. save the key that you need as name.reg
4. add it to your kitchen
also you can add metadata folder to sys
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile]
@="JPEG Image"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\DefaultIcon]
@="\windows\HTCAlbum.exe,-300"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\Shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\Shell\Open]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\Shell\Open\Command]
@="\windows\HTCAlbum.exe "%1""
this is the patch for you
fo the same for all picture extensions
or you can just edit
Album_3_2_19193429_0\files\mxipupdate_MASD_zzzHTCAlbum_RegKey.provxml
<characteristic type="HKCR\jpegimage\DefaultIcon" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="" datatype="string" value="HTCAlbum.exe,-300" translation="filesystem"/>
</characteristic>
to
<characteristic type="HKCR\3gpfile\DefaultIcon" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="" datatype="string" value="HTCAlbum.exe,-300" translation="filesystem"/>
</characteristic>
all this with just an simple search
i did search here and in google all wkend...
tried first method with the reg editing still not working...
will try the 2nd method tomorrow when i have some time...
htc album often has a provxml that fixes the file associations for album. find the packages from mega and edit the provxml to be pimg instead of album. provxml gets installed at first boot without the need for auto run. that would be the sure way to fix your problem.
i'll check the provxml file when i get home (will comment the fields out)
thing even if i dont install HTC album the files arent associated...
and i recall the provxml file already 'trying' to add associate to htc (obviously not working) as when i added it to enrivus kitchen the software works but as mentioned above no link in file explorer / titanium pictures.
thanks for the help
Hi
Like all non english user know the camera settings are missing.
it's not possible to set 720p in other languages.
To fix this install attached Xap.
Then with TouchXplorer.
move the xml files created in /My Documents/My Ringtones/
to the /Windows/ folder.
Reboot your device and enjoy all camera settings in your own language.
Works perfectly, i now have the camera settings in french! Thanks a lot!
Thanks Works perfectly
Thanks very much.
I was looking for this to get the full camera settings with the handset location set to English (UK) rather than English (US).
Lots if people search a solution for this.
if someone can sticky this thread
that can help a lots of users.
When I did it, it was working but my phone was rebooting every 5 minutes.
So I had to remove these files.

Go into the windows directory, find the camera settings 0409. Rename it to 0809, TouchExplorer will complain it cant rename it, but it will create a new copy of the file named camerasettings.0809.xml and voila you will have the settings in your camera app bonza
Use this in your custclear.provxml to add the en_GB camera settings
Code:
<characteristic type="FileOperation">
<characteristic type="windows\camerasettingsmanifest.0409.xml" translation="install">
<characteristic type="Copy">
<parm name="Source" value="windows\camerasettingsmanifest.0809.xml" translation="install" />
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</characteristic>

Do not understand previous two posts. Managed to have the Chinese camera settings copied to /windows directory. It works fine. However, Chinese camera settings is lost after resetting the phone. Is there a way to persist the translation. I have htc titan as well. The camera settings work just fine after installing Chinese on the device.
