I'm looking for a cab version of HTC album that allows the default folder to be on the Storage Card and offers rotation as well as zoom facility.
So far I have been unsuccessful:
HTC Album v2.0.1815.2532.cab uses the DCIM folder on my storage card as the default folder (as well as any photos in the my pictures folder on device memory), which is great, but sadly does not seem to allow rotation of photos (it just allows zooms).
HTCAlbum-2.5QVGA.cab uses folders on device memory only, which is rubbish, but it does allow rotation of photos.
The latest HTC Album v3.0 seems to install but does not open. I believe it is not for QVGA anyway.
Does anybody know of a cab version for our Trinity that allows the default folder to be on the Storage Card and offers rotation as well as zoom facility?
Thanks,
Mattster.

My mini has this habit of creating alot of folders like 0504080001, 0505080001, and so on to store my pictures taken from its camera. It's very frustrating to navigate each folder just to find one photo. Any one knows how to disable it from creating such folders and instead just store all my photos under ONE folder??
thanks!
You need to upgrade the camera to the latest version either by upgrading the ROM (1.12) or by finding an installer for the camera app itself (don't know if it exists for the latest ROM version)
Does the 1.12 ROM give us the facility to store all the pictures in one folder?
say I just leave the multiple folders alone, can we actually view ALL the pictures under Album, without having to switch from one folder to another??
???
nobody knows if it is possible to display all photos as if they were in the same folder???
If you use the application "Pictures" you can select to see all the pictures from the SD Card as if it was in the same folder.
has this problem of multi directory been fixed yet? I am having the same problem.
I notice the camera app. in wm5 dopod 818 pro doesnt' have this problem.
When I open the My Pictures app in WM5, is there a way to make it default to the folder on my storage card, instead of the My Pictures on internal memory?
I am having the same problem.
Pictures save onto my storage card, but the viewer does not default to display pictures from there. Also frustrating is that I click the pull-down location chooser and choose Storage Card but it does not take effect unless I pick another location first -- it just ignores my click.
I have found that My Pictures & Video stores registry entries of folder locations for both internal & storage card, and have tried making them both on the storage card, to no avail.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem?
It is indeed a problem for those of us who store our photos & video on the storage card, as I cannot use the nice feature "Play screensaver when connected to my PC and idle for 2 minutes"
No one knows a way around this problem? Surely there must be a reg edit or something that could do the trick?
Still looking for a solution to this!
Can anyone figure this out? It is quite annoying having to use the stylus every time to re-naviage to my picture folder...

Don't think there is a fix for this - tried various registry tweaks with no joy - I think the default directory is hard coded into the picture viewer software.
I use Xnview pocket as my default viewer and its much better and faster than the default one and you can change directory to where ever you want. & its free http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=12698
I've read lots of good things about XnView...but one question: does it have WM5 soft key controls? I though it didn't but haven't used it myself.
I've tried lots of pic apps (Resco, SplashPhoto, PictPocket LE) but either they are not WM5 compatible (Resco) have annyoing menus (Splash) or don't have a resize option for emailing (PicktPocket).
I'm trying to avoid using the stylus.
The default pic applicaton in WM5 is slow as hell but I like the simple editing controls, basic soft key functions (could be better, like selecting directory) and how it resizes any pics for emailing.
If I could find something that did all of that I'd be happy!

Xnview does not have soft key control but i find its speed more than makes up for this. It does not have direct email control but can resize the image to what ever size you need and many other image manipulations. It is also able to capture screens - and its zooming is better than the default one, plus you can have a slideshow with mp3 music.
I have created different folders to store different pictures. But on this X1, when want to browse the pictures, it will show all of them in one place. It is not like the Touch HD, I get to choose from my storage card and select the folder name for my pictures. Does anyone know the trick ?

I'm having exactly the same issue and and looking for a solution.
quick solution : use another viewer software, or the default windows viewer.
Is there another viewer software, wich running without bugs or lagging?
It should offer the sliding switch function like the iphone or the standard viewer from X1. I mean the picture switch without pressing a button - just sliding with your finger over the display..
Thanksss
Resco photo viewer is the best one out there, not sure if its touch friendly though
Hello all,
Took receipt of my HD today and for the most part i'm loving it...there is however a few things bothering me, and i'm hoping someone can help?
1> How do i create new folders for images, music, ringtones etc?
2> How do i then move things to the relevant folders?
3> How do i get album info for music if i dont already have it?
4> How do i resize an image and save it as wallpaper so it fits?
Thanks for any help you can give....
wallpapers - look under the themes / apps sections section
move folders - use 3rd party file explorer (deafult explorer won't let you expore windows folder ... ) or through active sync / explore - most of the programs can be found in /windows /start menu or programs - just drag and drop .... make new folders etc etc.....
sms tones should be copied directly to windows folder on the phone ..... ringtones, they seem to be stored in my documents / my ringtones on the phone
images - default seems to be in storage card DCIM blah blah blah
as for 3 & 4 ...not sure... but A search on the forums will help you through the other problems you stated
hope this helps....

1. Use one of the file explorers used. Work on same process as file exporer on your pc.
If using File explorer to, to create a new folder press File > New Folder or hold down stylus/finger > new folder
If using Total Commander, press file icon with + on it
All ringtones should be saved to either /windows/Rings or Storage Card/My Documents/My Ringtones. Obviously less space taken up on computer is stored on storage card
2. To move things, select and hold down them by either using finger or stylus. Window should pop and select send to
4. Try reading a few of these threads

There are plenty more out there if you search for 'Wallpaper' in the forum
3:
Make sure the MP3 tags + album pics are in order on your PC before transfering it to your HD. Use any ID3Tag editor to do this. Once the info is correctly set up in the MP3 files, it should show up in the musicplayer.
Thanks to you all for the replies, i've managed to do most of the stuff i needed to...just one more thing though, i got a HD because of its size hoping my big sausage fingers would be able to use the keyboard, and although i still can it could be easier, is there a way of turning the keyboard to landscape rather than portrait as default?

Latest manila versions and roms you can rotate 90 degrees to landscape so you have option of both portarit and landscape.
Also, for example Duttys latest roms he has an application called FlipIt (do a search) where you can select rotation angles for apps, so you could actually set certain apps to only work in landscape.
Is it possible to edit the reg somehow to change the default folder for where it gets the photos from?
Put all your pictures into "Pictures" folder on Internal Storage.
Storage Card folder
Putting all your photos in the "My Pictures" folder would work, of course, but no way you could think of it as a viable solution. How much spare memory do you have?
I've been wondering my self about this folder change. Anybody knows if it's possible to point the plug in to a folder in the external storage card?
Make a folder called 'Pictures' on your storage card, and put your pictures in there.
The plugin will show the images from that folder as well.
Great tip

didn't work for me. it show the pictures from my storage where my camera saves to.
edit: Omnia i910 btw..
Ideal Photo Settings?
Currently the right soft key is 'Show all Photos'
It'd be great if the left soft key could be 'Change Photo Folder'
...so if you have different sets of photos, in different folders, you could easily choose which folder...
That "pictures" folder work-around doesnt work for me too...
I gave already some ideas here:

Anyone find anything?
