Bought french HD2. Help please!

Hello,
I bought a HD2 from duty free Paris without paying attention it has the french stock ROM
Is there anyway I can install a cab or anything helpful to switch the language to English ?
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah thanks but I think I cannot use the other shipped ROMs without HSPL. Correct me if I am wrong.

Since there's no Soft/Hard SPL for HD2 yet you won't be able to just flash a different language ROM.
What you could try in the mean time, is have a look here:

Unfortunately, this is a workaround only for Manila and not the entire OS. I really feel sad as I've read somewhere that cracking the SPL is becoming harder and harder and still not sure if it is going to happen anytime soon. I doubt that even HTC support will care.

where are you from, i see you use fido.ca, if youre close to montreal , i dont mind exchange your frenc hd2 with mine (english)

Theres not much you can do then as im pretty sure the Roms language cant be changed without flashing a different Rom, which yo ucant do without HardSPL.
Hopefully HardSPL can be done soon but I havent heard much news on it for a while.

I know, we havent had any update recently, the reason why I am afraid that HSPL will not show up anytime soon. If only we can manage to get some good news from Olinex...

I'm from Belgium and if you are not to far away in Germany, I don't mind too to change it with yours!

I still wonder what is the 3rd party application they are referring to.
Any clue ?

i think they are just saying that you can install different apps like spb shell that will be in english... i dont think that they are refereeing to some kind of application that can translate the entire rom.
guess we have to wait for hardspl or until QMAT 5.07 and create a goldcard...

The windows mobile arabizer can translate all the OS menus to Arabic language.
I am not sure why such thing is not yet available for English users. The cab is like 5MBs.

Changing ROM

Hi
I bought an HD2 from Ebay and have discovered it appears to be fitted with an Asian ROM (1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE). The S/N is HT9C8NWxxxxx. I tried getting the ROM upgrade from the HTC web site but it says the device is not suitable for the upgrade. The only issue I have found so far appears to be with the chinese characters on the keyboard.
Is it possible to flash the ROM to a UK version or does the hardware prevent that? If so, what stock ROM do I need?

You can change your from to an English/UK one using the Gold Card method (check out the Rom Section under the Leo and you'll find all the information you'll need to know about it). Just to query though, have you tried going through and changing the Language and Region, as if i'm correct the WWE stands for world wide english, which should mean that you can get UK characters on your keyboard.

Many thanks for the advice.
I have the language and region set to UK but it doen't give me the different keyboard options (full, compact, etc), instead it offers me different chinese alphabets. I was also concerned in case I was prevented from getting normal updates as suggested by my experience with HTC.com.

I have exactly same problem and could not fix it. I sent a thread to the froum but with no luck

I followed the routine in the first post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314 and it worked fine. I used the 1.48.405.2 ROM which gives the UK profile. The only problem I had was with getting QMAT to recognise the SD card but I used itsutilsbin (see later in that thread) instead at step 3 and that seemed to work.

Sorry to bother all of you. After 80 plus hours i am close to give up and sell my HD2 or dump it.
Bought a "English HD2" in Shanghai. Found out its a old ROM with many problems. Downloaded the new ROM from HTC and got a traditional Chinese version and for sure I do not speak Chinese. .Means iI can never use or update the phone if i leave like that.
Started research, found a HK SN and and downloaded from HTC a Hongkong english version and installed it.
Installed the win frame work update to.
It worked but there is no phone keyboard anymore but now i can input in CHINESE! I need the phone keyboard I cant life with out one.
Found the EzInput soft key and installed several times, every time after installing it the phone wont start anymore and only a hard reset can bring it to life again. I made a soft rest before installing the keyboard.
Can any body help me with the keyboard?
Or any information where to get a NEW ROM which works in English but need to be able to show( not type) Chinese characters.
I am begging all of you, my eyes are red, my girlfriend is so upset that she went back to her parents and I had to switch back to my E75. SAFE me please

Tow more glitches i can't fix.
Switched it on after hard reset. Now the time is wrong. 27 min wrong and i don't know why. I set the time manual now.
Location is most times wrong. I life in Shanghai and I am all times set in Shenzhen or Suli or somewhere elsei If i drive suddenly the location corrects to Shanghai

instal hspl2 and then you can instal any rom you like (over usb).

Paid 4100 RMB including 2 batteries, and 4 GB memory card and the usual screen protection

you can install any rom you like. even those official ones from other regions.

I have the Telstra HD2 which has loads of crap software, so all I did was run the HSPL (HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433) and then found the Asia WWE (World Wide English) ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283&highlight=WWE, it has the serial number for you to download directly from HTC.
I have been using the South East Asia (Asian WWE) 1.66.707.1, with no issues.

Cant download new ROM 1.72 from htc

Hello, i have a htc hd2 on tmobile, but the phone its self isnt marked as t-mobile anywhere on it.
I selected to mobile
htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=936
and entered my S/N but it said my model isnt supported!
Why is this? will it do any harm to get the rom elsewhere and download it anyway? im guessing the S/N check is there to make sure that i dont download it for a reason.
Is there anywhere i can get the 1.72 rom for mmy phone? i am currenttly on 1.66 rom.

i also have a HD2 without any branding visible, yet when i entered my s/n it went straight through...
however, the 1.72 rom i downloaded was a tmobile branded rom...perhaps the s/n are pre-registered to tmobile from the htc factory???

could i please have the serial number youve used so i can download? i dont see what the difference is between mine and a t-mobile bought one, the hardware and software is still the same.

go look in rom development section, leo official roms thread, first post first link, all the branded and unbranded stock roms.

sorry, i cant find the s/n in that post, there are hundreds of pages!
I want to be safe and download direct from theri website really.

I think he was trying to direct you here..........
You'll find the rom you need in here without having to use a s/n...
They're exactly what you'd get from the HTC site, for some reason the download from HTC keeps cutting out so I'm just getting it from here.

ive just downloaded the TMO UK 1.72 and tried flashing it, but i recieve an invalid vendor ID error message.
I recieve a text from t-mobile today, telling me that i can update my phone to this rom, so i dont see why it shouldnt be compatible!
Any way of forcing it to flash?
p.s i bought this phone online as a generic phone from mobilephonesdirect.co.uk.
I am on contract with t-mobile
any ideas?

what is the HTC_HD2_RUU_Leo_HKCSL_WWE_172 rom?
It over 395 people have downloaded it, is this a generic one? it seems to be a higher version to the tmobile one which i have been advised to update too.

As far as I know wwe is the generic one, i cant give you an answer as to whether thats the one you need or not, if it wont let you flash the T-Mo rom then I'd guess you need the wwe, like I said I'm not sure though.....

ok, ill see how it goes. It is slightly annoying tho, does the t-mobile rom give you better reception? im just thinking that if i switch to a generic rom, then there wont be the specific t-mobile radio anymore. (if there is such a thing!)

I guess your going to need to read through a lot of threads to find out which rom you need for your phone, the answer will be in here somewhere......... sorry i cant help you any more than that...

then you don't have a t mo branded phone, you have a generic phone network locked to t mo.
you need to use roms that say HTC WWE and not tmouk wwe

thanks, appreciated, i was prob going to reset it at somepoint anyway coz it was soo slow, but ive backed up all my contacts, so its alright, just gonna take a while to put everything back on lol.

thanks, but i tried the WWE one and thats what seemed to have locked it up!
so, the t-mobile one came up with the error and so did the generic WWE one, expect the WWE one locked the phone up on startup.

sounds like you have a tmous. (t mobile us) in which case the radio in that ROM you flashed has killed it. bad luck.

you need to be able to enter bootloader for that.
you could try the thread called "qualcomm drivers" but i wouldn't hold out much hope, that thread has been there ages, i would have thought it would have been outed as a solution by now. lots of people have killed their tmous with the wrong radio, no ones fixed one.

sorry my friend but your phone is dead as no solution for this has been found. there is a sticky on the tmous hd forum all about flashing radios and it clearly states not to flash any radio other than x.50.xxx.xx radios the one you flashed is a .48

(( .48 is the rom version, the radio in that rom is 2.05.51.05, , OP didnt give the whole filename ,,,, effect is still the same tho, , dead tmous ))

Since it's only 15 days out of warranty, maybe you can talk to a manager or somebody at TMO and see if they can work something out for you. Just play dumb (shouldn't be too tough considering you flashed a .51 instead of .50... just kidding ), and say you're not thrilled about the device not turning on just 15 days after the warranty period. You can also tell em you might be forced to switch over to AT&T / Sprint if they don't fix it for free / for a subsidized price .
Somehow I get the felling that you don't use TMO and you don't live in the States, in which case, my sincerest condolences.

如果你是自己刷机造成的话，违反了保修条款的，所以只能收费维修。在深圳原来卖的店铺检查后说是字库坏了。但是可以换新的。我付了450元，现在变成了HTC新加坡版，就是IMEI和SN都变成新加坡认可的。取回来之后，还是先解锁成1.42.0000，然后解锁成2.08。这时去新加坡HTC官网，用新的SN验证后下载亚洲版英文ROM。刷了以后，中文都可以看。中文输入法包括拼音、注音、仓吉等。东南亚有很多华人，另外新加坡是唯一官方使用简体中文的国家，所以选择新加坡比较好。现在一切都正常，中英文都可以，只是系统菜单都是英文，对我来说没有问题。你在美国的话，我想可能还是恢复T-Mobile的美洲版英文。解决的方法一个是不要解锁，安装中文字库和输入法，例如网上流传的雅黑等。我已下载，如果找不到我设法传给你。但是我现在的办法是，先解锁成SPL-1.42.0000，如果不是而是SPL-1.42.***也不行。有软件可以改的。如需要我可以把我用过成功的传给你。解成SPL-2.08后，T版和非T版都可以刷ROM了。我的刷完之后，并没有重新锁上，而还是保持在SPL-2.08。我的经验如此。英文我可以看，但是像这长篇大论我是写不出来的。

You can send back to your HTC service center, and you have to pay for changing mainboard of the HTC HD2. But I think you still get a tmous back. So you have to unlock first using HSPL 2 or some tools. If you need I will send to you.
Now I got back my "dead brick", but it is a real HTC HD2 Asia version, and I download every thing from HTC Singapore using my new SN(new IMEI). I don't think they are real official version but directly downloaded from HTC official website.

I know there are lots of people have Problem with the T-mobile HD2, if you have your story, please share here.

Yes, but I think my experince is not suitable to here. My Leo now becomes real HD2, I still flash the rom with Tmous official version for testing about one week. Everything is OK. I add Chinese fonts and IME. But I don't like so many useless application in mainland to take about 100M memory. Finally, I flashed a cooked rom in Chinese, no useless applications in it. I have to install my favorite applications and patches. I don't think flash rom frequently is good idea. We are not experts or enthusiasts but cellular users only. It's my opinion.
