Flv video support? - HD2 General

Hello
I have a lot of flv files that I have downloaded from Youtube. Does anyone know if they can be played with the HD2? I read somewhere that it is not possible, but I hope they were wrong.

Core player

Ok, thanks. I will check it out.

I think CorePlayer handles .flv videos, although I wouldn't swear to it. I don't know if TCPMP does - it's worth checking. You might also be able to convert them into a format that the HD2 can handle. Previous post on the subject here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4940625&postcount=31

video player with subtitles support, is there any ??

hi, i am lookng for a video player supporting subtitles in text format or other ?? is there anything like that ??
cheers, matt
I'm relative sure that TCPMP has you covered here.
i am using TCMPM and cannt see this option.
Don't think the core player supports subtitles and have not seen another player that includes this. Why not do what i do and encode the subtitles with the rest when i am encoding the video - comes out fine on my device - just about read the text. I use fair use wizard (free edition) for straight ripping from dvd to xvid including subtitles. http://www.fairusewizard.com/lang_en/fairuse_wizard_dvd_divx_xvid_backup_tool_light_edition.html
thats fine if i wanna rip dvds but i am tolking about avi format. i mean i usualy have avi movie in eng and polish subtitles in seprate txt format. i use vpaler on my desktop. any ideas ??
I think it does - in the version 0.72
Hi.
You may also try:
http://pdaclub.pl/forum/index.php?topic=58491.0
it's in polsh, but pictures are also.
Quite simple and it works.
And you will need the newest version of TCPMP: 0.81 with such support.

AVI +SUB's

hi guys!
there is any way to play a movie (divx, xvid, etc.) on HD and to see also the subtitles of the movie (srt, txt, etc.)?
i don't want to reconvert them and iclude the sub, just to copy the movie file and the sub file in the same directory and play them in the same manner as on PC with BSPlayer
thank you!
yes, teoreticaly with TCPMP. But your video will most probably lag, because TCPMP sux. So you better burn them in your movie on PC.
i knew about tcmp but i also knew that it sux.
i thought that it would be possible with core or divx player or other player.
i have a lot of avi movies with separate sub file and i want to use them as they are.
thank you!
i forgot what program there was but you can embed the subtitles on the video and it re-encodes back to avi and it works with core player. i'll see if I can dig the program up again.
they are several programs, cucusoft is one of them, but, as i said, i don't want to reconvert them. i just want to use them as they are: avi file + sub file
when y put subtitles in TCPMP quality of pictures is worst than original, why?

Nothing of the sort, yet.
The Core Player people said that they might include such a function down the line.
that's just too bad.
we'll have to wait for people from coreplayer. hope not too long

DivX Media Player - Easy As!!!!

i've tried coreplayer, and messed around with all the settings etc, winmo media player is obviously pure balls and everything else i've searched for has been rubbish or just doesn't work.
Now i don't know if this is posted anywhere else, i certainly didn't find it with a few simple searches on here, so i thought i'd post it for everybody else for easy finding!
the DivX mobile player plays nearly all my video files (downloaded...lets face it, we all do it ) flawlessly and with no recoding, no editing etc, just drag and drop onto sd and it automatically shows up in the DivX player.
So just a heads up for the rest of you who might be interested.....

is the place to go!
Take it easy
No videos?
Well,I tried it and it looks nice... I have a lot of videos on my Memory Card, but neither of them appear in DivX player...I tried to put some videos in the same folder in Program files/DivX player, but no success.
What to do to have my videos visible in DivX player?
Thanks a lot for your efforts.
Alex.
I cant really claim to be expert in these things, i'm not new here, but really not an advance user i really on the rest of the genii in these fora to helpME out. but as far as simple solutions, try closing divx, taking out/reinserting card then start divx again...or in the menu on bottom right theres refresh videos (or something to that effect) try clicking that and see what happens. if neither of these works, i'm afraid i'm as clueless as you sorry mate
DivX
I tried all of that already mate...but no success.
I think I will have to remove it from my TP2. Because it is useless, unless I find out how to show all videos I have.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your reply.
Alex.
Err... I'm gessing the divX player only read's avi files...
Supported codecs...
You are right,probably....it recognizes only AVI files.....
Unfortunately.
And,due to high resolution screen on TP2,menu items in DivX player are sooooo small and tiny. I think this player is not intended for TP2 actually.
Admittedly, I didn't download it. But the way the site reads it should play DivX and it says nothing about Avi. Actually, it doesn't really say much of anything as far as the technical specs are concerned. It does say that it is beta software available for a limited time only and it will expire. So tread carefully.

FYI - DivX files are almost always AVI. AVI isn't a video format...it's a container for video files in a lot of different formats.

BEst APP for 800*420 video conversion and DRM removal?HD2

HEy everyone I was just wondering if anyone has a fav app for video conversion with 800*420 resolution support and one for DRM removal of itunes movies. the app i used to use for my G1 doesnt have any settings for 800*420 only 720*420 and doesnt offer any DRm removal for itunes videos. I just got a tmobile-US HD2 (bad-ass!!) and I would like to be able to convert my collection over to the HD2. I already searched the forums but couldnt find an exact awnser. So I am hoping some of you Euro-HD2 guys with a little experience on the matter could suggest a gem of an app for this.
Thanks in advance.

DRM removal anyone?
i know this might be a little unadvanced of a question for all you super genious's but i have been searching the web for any kind of software that can remove DRM protection from itunes purchased movies and i can't find anything that works.. . i guess ill try the burn to dvd method and return to computer without drm to see if it works. although this way seems a little excessive.damn you Apple and you movie studios and you record labels i bought the stuff i should be able to play it anywher anyone here has a trick or favorite method of doing this let me know. if there is no way could someone let me know also. thnks
I think most people here would be looking at 800 x 480 and not 800x420. If you do a search on XDA you will find quite a lot of information.
I'm not so sure about DRM, but I use Xmedia. it's fast and free.
It has HTC HD2 profile already in it, so it's very simple.
Just so you know, 800x480 is 15:9 not 16:9.
It converts it to MPEG4, so you can use windows media or video player. No extra players (Coreplayer is excellent for other files though) needed.
Only thing I haven't figured out is how to get subtitles on it.
My mkv movies have german subtitles embedded in it, and not by a separate .srt file.
oh well. still works very well.
Sure, it's no an answer to your question, but: usually converting a video to phone screen resolution format is wasted time.
The HD2 is more than powerful enough to watch xvid encoded videos, given you use a decent player, coreplayer > tcpmp, but tcpmp is good enough; bigger video has bigger files, yet a 16gb microsd is also big, and you're going to delete the file after you've watched it, so... save yourself the big hassle of video conversion

You can usually extract the embedded subs with apps like mkvextract....they come either in srt format or ass, which u can then convert to srt and use with tcpmp.

Which Xmedia program and version are you using? I searched and there are a ton.

Good FLV player?

Hi
I have searched and RTFW.....but maybe I missed it somewhere.
Looking for a good player that will play FLV's on our device. Have tried youtubeplayer but I find that the timeline bar doesn't work so you can't fast forward through a vid.
Also it doesn't play all the FLV's I have.
Has anyone got any better solutions? I have tried TCPMP player with source forge FLV codec but it keeps crashing out :-(
Thanks and appreciate any help!
was gonna say tcpmp but you nixed that
Can you not convert flv into a nicer format?
I've found FLVs sometimes dont even work on desktop flvplayer for seeking or resizing - and that's down to the FLV file. only way to fix them is to play them through, or rebuild the stream....or convert to another better format.
I just think there are many crappy .flv files out there with lazy web-players.
If you are using a tool like dwhelper then get it to auto-convert on download to a sane format.
No issue for me with this TCPMP version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951
