MDA Compact III - Wlan? - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

I have flashed MDA Compact III to the Shady ROM (WM 6.5)
CID Unlock & SIM Unlock done and works fine
Now I have a question about wireless - I cannot find definitive answer whether this phone has wireless chip just disabled (and it can be enabled) or is there no wireless chip at all so no way of enabling wireless?
There were some discussions about it but I couldn find whether its a dead end or there is a way of enabling it.

No Chip, no antenna - nowbody knows for sure - but the wlan cannot be activated with this t-mobile device. Does not depend on software.
T-Mobile-Müll eben, die mit Web'n'Walk Geld machen wollen!

Triband or quadband? 802.11b or 802.11b/g?

Firstly, I would like to say that my mobile provider is T-mobile (The Netherlands). I have the T-mobile MDA Vario.
I have discovered 2 previous threads concerning contradictions in the hardware of the Wizard/Qtek 9100/MDA Vario.
I know that the original manufactor is HTC Innovation (Taiwan). (Under my battery its labeled as the "WIZA200").
The Qtek site for Europe says it supports quadband, 802.11b/g & EDGE.
http://www.qtek.nu/europe/products/9100/specifications.aspx
However, the Dutch T-mobile site says it supports triband, 802.11b & only support for GPRS.
Triband: GSM 900/1800/1900
WLAN High speed data (802.11b up to 11Mbps)

Now I am assuming that the Qtek 9100 & MDA Vario devices are hardware wise exactly similar (Seems expensive for HTC to produce slightly different Wizards.). Therefore I came to the conclusion that the it must be locked down through software.
Has anyone been able to unlock some of these features? (E.g. triband -> quadband)
I tested to see if 802.11g would function on my MDA Vario (Through Linksys router working in G-mode only). It didn't work. So I am assuming there are no mistakes on these websites. Also it would be in T-mobiles intrest to lock down these features as the MDA Pro has them, but is a lot more expensive.
If anyone could shed some light on this problem, it would be intresting.

Thank you, didn't know there was a new version out. I saw something about version 1.0, but some people were having problems with this, so thought it wasn't a working fix. Quick question regarding the WLAN G 2.0 patch, does it still also allow to be connected to 802.11b only networks?
Anybody still now anything regarding about going from triband to quadband?
Thanks in advance.

WIFI => HTC P3300 variant (T-Mobile MDA 3 Compact)

Hi all,
Firstly, I think this is an excellent phone!
I have the T-Mobile variant (MDA compact 3) but I was gutted today when I found out that T-Mobile de-activated WIFI on it.
Apparently it can be activated ... is there any truth to this? Is there any way to get WIFI working on this phone? Are there any firmware upgrades or similar available?
Thanks alot,

Is it possibile to enable?
No, becausse it is HARDWARE disabled. If you manage it to solder a WiFi-Chip in your MDAcIII then please tell me how
If you want to use wifi on a T-Mobile III Compact try a micro sd card with wifi option on it - for excample: http://www.expansys.de/a.aspx?i=140798

yummi, yummi, yummi, aint this a beauty! wonder what the price is gonna be!?
Yup that's definately an option, but besides the Price i'd like to know about the Reception... The antenna can't be very big. But i think it's amazing that we reached the time a WiFi Chip with Antenna can be put into a Micro SD Card, that's just fascinating

That depends where you live. In most countries Wifi is disabled and cannot be enabled just by changing the software (there is no hardware to enable). Only in a few countries (i.e. the Netherlands) Wifi is enabled and fully functional.

Hi l took a look at your picture link ,the aerial is a sheet of metal which can be fiited on, if thats all thats missing to get wifi - it only strenghtens the rx/tx quality of the incoming and outgoing signal (using a link to main board via soldering)
most articles i have read have been adament that it is an onboard chip that is missing if i get a more info i keep you posted
Hi,
I have got a t-mobile compact III from the UK,
is there any way of finding out if the wifi chip is missing or just the antenna is missing or nothing is missing?
Hey!
I got a german MDA Compact III, CID Unlocked and german O2 Windows Mobile 6 ROM installed and running flawlessly.... There is NO WiFi enabled, so i guess its a little more missing than just the antenna. I'd say the whole chip simply isn't there, (or deactivated) if it was, i at least would have the option of switching WiFi on.
If you want WiFi, better exchange your device
for an orbit
orbit is supposed to be more sleek as well, not a bad thought.

installing WM6 and getting wifi working on T moblie compact III

Hello,
I have a T moblie compact III, if I un-lock the CID can I flash a new ROM of wm6 and get wifi working ?
If so could you point me at where and how to find the ROM's
Thanks for any help
Martyn
Only one chance how to make WiFi working on T-MO Mda C3 is to buy microSD-IO wifi card( if any exist - i doubt) unless You have one of the first from Netherlands. There is no WiFi chip inside MDA C3. (you can say thans to T-Mobile)
thanks !
I though T moblie would not want there user's installing skype and chatting for free.....
How can I tell if its got the wifi chip set? I have had it for about a year
thanks martyn
