I've noticed that not all roms put what spl we should have, so is it safe to assume that 1.33.2005 good for the rom?
The rom I'm looking at is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574526
Yes! Tried it myself
I think it's good for all roms, actually it might even be a prerequisite for all hero roms except micro hero.
Not 100 % sure of the latter though.
I just tried flashing the hero rom and it flashed just fine but after it got passed the mt3g splash it just repeated the hero and htc splash, I'm back on cyanogen, any ideas on how to get it working?
Did you wipe before you flashed? Also, the first boot can take a few minutes.
If it's neither lack of wipe or lack of patience I have no idea
It's lack of patience lol. I'll try flashing it again and wait this time.
Okay, well it's not lack of patience unless waiting 1 hour isn't long enough. Any body else have some ideas to get this working?
Kaptur mentioned it, but did you wipe before applying the update.zip ?
Yes I did.
Then I recommend you try another ROM, maybe evil D:'s sense/nano sense as apparently thats quick/stable.
it has to be a bad download or you need to wipe a couple more times I've wiped and it still did a boot loop before so try wiping at least3 times and /or try a new rom
I flashed 2 different heros after that, 1 of them i got the splash loop and evil's worked.
I usually find if a wipe then flash doesnt work, I just repeat the same procedure i.e pull battery, wipe and reflash then boot does the trick.
If all else fails repartition card and then flash, and if that doesnt work, i guess that rom isnt for you.
Im having this problem with nano sense.
I always wipe completely and recreate all partitions if im running a hero rom
Wouldn't recreating the partitions get rid of my apps? If not, I might try that.

For some reason I can't flash most ROMs now. I tried flashing soulifes new rom, JAC's hero 2.0, and dude's 1.3, but all of them get boot loop. I have the new spl and right radio. My ext2 partition is clear. Haykuro's 6.0r1 works, and so does his ion. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
did u wipe?
try to drop down to r29 again reroot and start fresh and remember to wipe every time u go from rom to rom u can only upgrade (not wipe) if ur going for example ion r1 to ion r2 and remember have the latest spl and radio (RADIO FIRST!)
^^^ Maks Signature is Hillarious
yea jumping between ROMs always requires a wipe. If the only thing u can get to work is Haykuro builds, youre prob not wiping to go to a new kind of rom.
I've been wiping.... I don't know what's up. I guess I'll just re-root.
i had and still have the same problem, dude and hero wont work but dude used to. i have wiped before every rom change. i am cyns newest rom and works everytime. hopefully you can pinpoint what is wrong and post back. good luck
cleaning your ext2/3 should do the trick, you may have to wipe your ext 2/3 then before booting your phone, flash your ROM AND do a wipe on your system.
^try that. Do root required apps still work? Wifi tether etc
I have flashed the new CyanogenMod and the Cyanogen Recovery 1.4 and when I wipe everything and flash, it'll load up and I can use the phone 100% perfectly, but once I reboot my phone, or turn it off and on, it never goes past the green boot screen. Anyone have any solutions/reasons why it does that? It's with every single Cyanogen mod too, i've tried several of them.
Probably because you have a lot of apps?
If not, reflash it.

what do you actually flash and what is the actual process, you shouldnt have any issues after it boots up the first time, wipe everything and make an exterior partition meaning get rid of your cyanogen recovery 1.4 and get amon ra's latest... look in the dev section and read up on cyan's page on how to flash the rom

Thanks for help man, right now I'm running dwang's rom 100% perfect w/ no issues at all. it can reboot and everything just fine. I'm just a little worried on going back and trying to flash cyanogens.
When I installed it, I first did the root process, downloading the .apk file and going through all that part smooth, then I downloaded and flashed the Cyanogen Recovery 1.4, and from there I downloaded the two files (DRC83_base and the latest cyan's rom, i forgot the version #) and applied update from SD, first doing DRC83 and right after doing the rom itself, without rebooting the phone. It loads up A-OK and I can installl the apps and go about my business, but once I need to restart my phone, it just never turns back on. I'm puzzled completely...I even did the whole unroot and reroot thing and STILL i'm not having any luck.
K I got confused in there some where did you flash a cyan rom at all in there I read that you flashed the drc83 zip file but sounds like you just flashed that and booted the phone lol... never tried that but.... any way it seems like you are doing everything correct onlything I could suggest is make sure you have the correct htc base image, and make sure you wipe and repair everything!!!!! and also try a differant download of cyanogen as you might have gotten a bad one or something I have never had any issues with a cyanogen rom except maybe a FC back on 4.0xx or something
兄弟,估计你刷成砖了。同情ing。。
I'm just wondering what's so good about the Modaco ROMS... From what I was reading it's the best thing to ever happen to Hero but I've flashed it and it actually seems slower/laggier than my stock ROM... should this be?
My stock ROM was 2.73.XX but I can't remember the exact build number. I'm using Modaco 3.0... are there any other ROMS out there I should consider trying? I'm looking for the fastest and most responsive ROM out there. I do A LOT of multitasking so I'd like to have a ROM that can keep up.
If you did a complete data wipe/factory reset, while having the Modaco Rom, the Hero should be a lot more responsive and faster.
I like Modaco rather than stock rom because it removes some useless apps and allows for more customization. Btw, another alterative to the stock and Modaco is the [email protected] and the Clean ION Roms.
There are several different Roms, the differences is the types of apps removed/installed and the Android firmware.
i like modacos roms, because they work reliable and good. with pauls roms i am sure that he has tested them well, and i can use them as basis for my own modifications, or just can push them to my friends' heros without having them complain that something doesn't work. also in case you need support you can ask paul, he is really a nice guy.
there are some other roms, but imho mcr3.0 is by far the most evolved rom, esp. for everyday use. check the development section here for other roms, including the brandnew android 2.1 roms
Well here's the thing. I didn't wipe/factory reset before I Flashed the ROM. After flashing it went into a reboot loop, it would keep rebooting and when it got to the last boot animation, reboot again... I then did a wipe using the recovery boots wipe option and then it booted fine... Maybe I should do another wipe and flash again? It sucks though because now I've customized it back to the way I like it... I hate having to do that all over again. I guess I need to do the A2SD thing so I don't have to redownload my apps again... that was annoying when I had to do it after flashing Modaco's.... I couldn't even remember all that I had installed lol.
Anyone think reflashing might make it better?
I've been using MCR since about 2.2 so I can't speak for 3.0, but when I first flashed with 2.2 I didn't factory reset or format my SD card and it was a complete fail... apps force closing constantly, unable to recieve SMS, and other assorted weirdness.
So I factory resetted, reflashed and from that point MCR has run very smoothly and each update has gone OK (except for one where i had to format and repartition my SD card for A2SD, but didn't lose any settings).
So my advice would be that if you go to the effort of starting with a clean slate you'll get a much better user experience, which is what all us existing MCR users have...
streetdaddy is spot on. Do a clean wipe and then a rom flash.
I'm using MoDaCo 2.9. For my Hero, 3.0 ate up a lot of my phone's internal memory and kept saying I was running out of memory. The differences are minuscule and the speed improvement is about the same.
I started using Pauls ROM as soon as I got my Hero (which was a few days after release) because the stock ROM was toilet, and I've not looked back. The ROM itself is excellent and the support is first-class.
Make sure to wipe before installing. Once you've got it up and running you shouldn't have to wipe it when you upgrade next time.
Let me start by saying thank you to all the awesome people on XDA who have allowed me not to ask any questions so far! All the guides I've seen are very well written and easy to follow. But onto my problem:
I decided to flash the Evo(Shift)Nonsense ROM, and it works great. However, after I reboot the phone a second time, I get all sorts of random FC's including android.process.acore that all happen so continually it's impossible to use the phone. I tried flashing a few different kernels from BCnice, made sure to do full wipes and wiped the cache. I tried flashing it twice, and the second time I tried flashing Clockwordmod 2.5 told me that the verification had failed, so I toggled it off and flashed anyway and the problem kept occuring.
Sorry for the length, I just wanted to get all the info I could think of out there. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give me!
When flashing a kernel wipe then flash your rom. Reboot into the rom then reboot in recovery. Only wipe dalvik and then flash the kernel.
Make sure you are flashing one of tbhe sense kernels.

Flashed over CM7 beta, rebooted system, and I get stuck at the dual core screen. I think my battery was really low, because when I pull the battery, I get the "battery too low to flash". But its hard to tell when the battery is charging. Does it charge (AC) when I am in CWM? Or anytime when its plugged into AC?
IT dosent sound like a hard brick, just a soft brick perhaps. I hate rooting phones cause of this.
does not charge while in cwm but powered down it should charge
When I power down, and plug into outlet, it just boots up and stays at Dual Core screen with unlocked.
EDIT: Flashed a different ROM and it seems to be working fine. God damn Atrix and Cyanogen. Was never this hard on HTC Aria to do all this crap.
+1. BUT, you shouldn't need to flash, go into android recovery and factory reset and erase cache and reboot and you should be ok. I got stuck in boot loop the first timeI flashed CM7 prebeta 1 the first time. Good habit to wipe everything (except system) after installing ROMs.
Its backwards to me that you wipe everything AFTER installing ROMs.
But everything is working fine now.
It's just a precaution to make sure there is nothing to conflict with the new ROM

this works with CM7, but you don't want to get into the habit of doing it for every ROM. some ROMS have goodies built into the data partition, which you won't be able to get if you wipe it after installing

I have one backup. I always manually format before flashing, personsally.
