How to make new text message tone to just ring and not increase ring?

I am trying to modify the ring tone in a c++ program. I have manage to write the ring tone in the registry. If I receive a call I do not hear any ring tone. If I use the registry editor that comes with Evc++ 4 and open the key “hkey_current_user\controlpanel\ringtone0\sound” and then close it with out modifying it and receive another call the ring tone works.
I don’t know what is the problem.

Hi there i need some help here i like to know if anyone can guide me to make my phone vibrate intermediately instead of a constant vibration when the phone rings or a received a message.

Hi i have set a sms.wav for incoming text messages but i couldn´t hear the message. Set to vibrate works. The Notification setup activated for Events and programs. Even the ringtone can be heared. Pls help!
I am getting a very annoying message tone when i get my credit balance message after ending a call or a data balance message.If i use my back button the message moves off but that annoying tone still continues to play .
Can some one please help me how to change that annoying message tone.
Is there a setting to change the phone so it vibrates when receiving text notifications instead of having a message or notification tone? I've found the message tone and notification tone sections, but haven't located where to make it just vibrate instead. My Moto X Pure had this function, seems like a simple thing.
