How do you make screen time-out stop - Dash 3G, Snap General

Hi everyone?
Is ther anyway to stop the Home screen Time-out? even if in the settings you set 'never' , it still goes dim and then off.
Is there a way to stop that?

Home screen time out is for how long it takes apps to time out and go back to the home screen. You need backlight time-out, and that's in the Power Management settings.

Thx
Much appreciated

8125 stuck with no disply

Today I had an alarm set, when the alarm went off I tapped hit the power button on the top of my phone to turn the screen off (and hopefully the alarm... but only the screen went off). The alarm continued to go, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the screen to come back on.
I can fully interact with the phone (as if the screen was on). For example, pressing talk twice redailed my last call. Pressing power prompted to shut the phone off (could hear the "blurp"), etc.
So, after shutting the phone off (or resetting with pinhole reset), the display works fine while it is displaying the "Cingular - Raising the Bar" nonsense. As soon as that screen is done (where it would have normally showed the today screen), the screen just goes off...
Any ideas?

nevermind, when I put it under a bright light I realized the screen was on, the backlight was just off... somehow I must have hit some shortcut to turn the backlight off.

Say hello to the Backlight bug.
You're backlight will keep setting itself to the lowest setting after every soft-reset, when you let it go into stand-by itself.
I'm still sufferering from it. It started when i first installed PocketZenphone.
So just want to give u a warning. Everytime you reset your phone, remember not to let it go into standby itself. Either tap the power button and turn the screen off, then turn it on agan. Otherwise, the Backlight will go to low again.

Screen dims after few minutes of inactivity

No matter what I set in Settings -> Power, screen dims after a (short) while of inactivity both on battery or power. I had similar issue sometimes with my Elf. I just had to check those boxes and uncheck them and press OK, sometimes I had to restart it. But it never worked with my HD. It always dims backlight after some inactivity no matter what I set in power settings. I want to have backlight on full power (according to L-sensor) all the time even if I don't touch it for hours. It's really annoying to tap screen every minute when reading something because it dims.

I remember it was like that out of box ;-( but the time was longer, now it dims after one minute.
I've got the same problem. Very frustrating indeed.

I unchecked the "Turn off backlight if device is not used for x sec" and the phone never dims, so it seems to be a problem in your devices/software only.

Screen not turning off

For some reason my screen just dims instead of turning off when I dont use the phone. If I press the hang up button it goes off like normal but if I just set it down it dims and stays on, draining my battery... Has anyone else experienced this?

I take it you've already checked your backlight settings in Settings, Power ?
Yes and I have done a soft reset as well. I'm not really a "phone guy" so I hope this is something easy to fix....
Hello,
The way I have my device setup to get round this problem is this:
Go to Settings>Sound&Display> then scroll down until you see Display then click on Backlight.
On the page that appears, scroll down to "On Battery Power". Here put a tick in the box "Dim Backlight..." and set the time you want to allow before this function kicks in (mine is set at 2 mins).
Next, move down to "Turn off Device..", put a tick in here, and then set how long you want the device to stay on for before it goes off (mine is set at 3 mins).
You can use whatever time settings you feel comfortable with. Please note that it is the setting for "Turn Device Off..." that will blank your screen for you. The other setting simply dims it and leaves it running, as you have said before.
If battery performance is an issue for you, take the tick off "Automatically adjust backlight" and put in your own settings. So here, for example, I have my backlight on battery permanently set at 30% and on External Power, 60%.
The screen is so big you get blinded at anything above 60% (well at least I do).
Hope this helps.

How to disable phone dim before it goes to sleep?

After using my S4 phone, when I leave the phone alone, it will stay at normal brightness for a while then it will dim (lower brightness) for about 5 seconds then the whole screen will turn black (sleep).
I want to disable the dim. How can I do it? I want it from normal brightness to turn black (sleep).
Thanks
(It is irritating during the dim because I can only press the screen to make phone to return to normal brightness and I tend to press wrong stuff as screen is dimmed, or no empty area to press. Anything pressed on screen will still take effect but I actually do not want to press anything. When it is black I can use power key to turn on again to normal brightness without pressing screen.)
Anyone know?

It does not work. That does not affect the dimming time. The dim I am talking about is the 5 seconds just before the screen turn black

I think he just wants to set the dimming duration to zero. But yea I don't really see any sense in this...
Why don't you just turn off the screen timeout as deakodude said? If not, even if the screen is dimmed, there is always a way to bring the screen back to "full brightness" (ex. by touching two times the menu button or just swiping across the screen, which usually won't trigger any actions).

I do not want to turn off screen timeout as I am happy to read the screen and then let it on for some seconds then shut down.
Read this and it will make sense: It is irritating during the dim because I can only press the screen to make phone to return to normal brightness and I tend to press wrong stuff as screen is dimmed, or no empty area to press. Anything pressed on screen will still take effect but I actually do not want to press anything. When it is black I can use power key to turn on again to normal brightness without pressing screen. Sometimes I am still reading message/map when the screen dims.
"by touching two times the menu button" > this is correct, but it is troublesome
"just swiping across the screen, which usually won't trigger any actions"> this is wrong. During the dim, anything key or anything on screen touched is still working as normal.
Please note: As stated in the thread clearly. Dim I am talking about is the 5 seconds that is lower brightness than usual, it happens just before the screen turns completely black. After using your phone, leave your phone alone untouched and look at the screen until it turns black, you will sure see it.
