Need some info from a Magic owner - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I am working on distributing the 1.6r2 USB drivers with Droid Explorer, and need some info from a magic owner that has the 1.6r1 or 1.6r2 drivers installed on windows.
I need someone to open up regedit and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C03&MI_01" and tell me the name of the key (folder) right below this. For the dream, it is "6&1bdeb2c3&0&0001".
If any one here also has a sholes (Droid), I could use the same info, except the root key is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01"
Thank you

hey, i don't see a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0bb4&Pid_0c03&MI_01 instead I have
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0bb4&Pid_0c02&MI_01 - not sure if that matters...under that I see
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0bb4&Pid_0c02&MI_01\6&166d9422&0&0001
Hope that helps you - this is on a myTouch 3G

Exactly the same here (I have a Magic 32A);
This key I found:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C02&MI_01
and this this the sub key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C02&MI_01\6&ce78124&0&0001
Cheers!

Tutorial to Import SMS from Nokia phone to HTC Hero

Hi,
I finally managed to import all my messages from my N95 to Hero and here is a tutorial I wrote for the same.

Ok got it to work,
okay my converter sux I got it .D if you could post more info to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4385729 your tutorial for Hero could be much more simpler...
and dont forget to give credits plx .D
best regards
I had mentioned your thread as a credit in my blog post. Maybe I will make it bold now . And I know it could be simpler. When I have time I could write a tool to insert the xml generated by Amber Nokia convertor into the SQL Lite databases directly without doing all the hacks i.e. merging a tutorial to convert NOkia->WM and then WM->Android. The WM bit isn't really necessary tbh.
Sorry I just noticed.. I forgot to include the link to your post and only included the modaco ones SOrry for that.. Done it now
iphone to htc hero???
anyone?
Almost there, but a little help needed please
Hi, have followed all the steps and got a saved copy of import.xml.
Next I connected the phone using the USB cable. (Didn't mount it as a USB device)
Then I opened Command Promt on my PC and changed to the android SDK tools directory.
Then I type "adb shell" (without quotes)
It says:
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
$
At this point the phone disconnects from HTC Sync and I have to end adb.exe (which appears twice) in windows task manager to get it to reconnect to sync.
Any suggestions please?
If it disconnects from HTC Sync, it's fine as long as you get the shell prompt

But then if I type "su" after the $ it says su: permission denied...
I assume your phone isn't rooted then.

Maybe not. To be honest I'm starting to feel a bit out of my depth here. I don't really have any programming knowledge and haven't really used dos much before. I'll go and research 'rooting' now, but if you can come back with a quick instruction in the meantime that'd be great
Ok, so I've found various instruction for how to root my phone. Only problem is that they each seem to relate to what network I'm on. I was originally on T-Mobile, but paid to have it unlocked so I can use my 3 sim. Should I just use the instruction relating to T-Mobile? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm a bit worried about permanently wrecking the phone

Ok, if I use the instructions here (my ROM version is 2.73.+) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4525393&postcount=1 do you think it should be ok? I am a bit worried about the part where it says "flashrec is using an exploit that isn't patched yet in the current kernel used by HTC, however if/when HTC patches this, flashrec will stop working. So for now it's ok but a next version might have patched this, so keep this in mind !"

How to change "Model Number

Been trying to access some info from the "My Account" app and says my phone model is not supported. I think its due to the change in model number in the about phone section. Anyway to change it back to what it was before?
Btw im running CM 5.0.8
Edit: Reason for editing: On the "Model Number" part, its says HTC Dream, I wanted to change the text string back to what it use to be so I fully use the my account app.
old post, but I would like to know where/what I need to do to change the model also. I can't update via my sammy i9000 via Kies, because it's reading as a GT-I9000 after installing a Euro 2.2 ROM, when it's infact a GT-I9000T.. which Kies now has a New Zealand 2.2 update for. The issue is the 3G support of the Euro ROM and the fact it makes my screen on first power up do the rainbow snow deal. I'm hoping the NZ ROM for the actual 9000T will fix this... but I need to change the device model # to test.
The Kies registry patch trick didn't work for me at all. I would run the app, it would appear to change the registry keys, but Kies would either add another set of 3 keys (4, 5, 6) or just change the 1, 2, 3 modified reg keys to what the phone is reporting instead of keeping the modified info.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You could rename it to .txt, edit, change to .prop.
Or you could adb pull, edit, push ect.
never mind. I have SGS Tools app that lets me edit /system/build.prop without renaming it. SGS Tools is available on the Market for free.
for those who don't know what SGS Tools is, you're missing a lot! Try it.

[Q] Installing swype?

I'm new to the android ecosystem but I've always been jealous of swype users, is it possible to port this feature to the nook touch?
Just replace apk file of swype with default keyboard using Root Explorer in system/app
I tried installing a keyboard apk file into system/app file by copy and paste with ES file explorer but it said failed. is there a special app or procedure I need to do this with? and where did you get the apk file? I would like a keyboard with directional arrows (for spreadsheets) and numbers for faster input. Thanks
Are you sure system is r/w?
Sent from my GT-I5700 using Tapatalk
roryn3kids using ES file explorer use the following instructions and you'll have access to r/w root files:
1. Scroll down to Root Settings and enable Root Explorer and Mount File System.
Not sure if this next step was needed but I did it anyway
2. Once again from the setting menu click on File Settings and enable "Show Hidden Files"
then copy the file from your data\app folder to your system\app folder
Swype "friendliness" to nook STR
The instructions above worked fine for me.
The problem is that I found the apk somewhere (a rather new version but still not the latest) and, even when it works, I do not get any "word list menu" like the one shown in those Swype Howto videos.
This means that, either I use an extremely short vocabulary, or I waste 50% of the time correcting the suggested word...
For instance, let's say I wanted to write f***, Swype forces me to accept the word duck.
This is good, because then I have the time to think twice before swearing but in the end... hum, let's say it's not that productive.
Of course, I checked that the options are properly configured (or I think so)
Does it happen to any of you, nook STR users?
BTW, I might also say that I cannot install the beta from swype.com/category/get-swype/
Have any of you succeeded on this?
Not that I want to re-activate a Post that was last updated in August, but it's nice to have as much information regarding swype as possible in a single post.
Thanks
I just discovered the Swype feature on my galaxy player 4.0 and it's great!
Never used Swype before this, But Since finding it a few days ago, it's all I've used! lol
Hope you get it installed, cuz its awesome.
Ok, I have further investigated the Issue and I can confirm now that it is properly configured (I compared it with some other devices) so let's ask it the other way around...
Is there any nook-STR-user who properly installed Swype?
How did you do it or, better said, where did you get your swype from?
Thanks very much, and a happy new year!
(sent using my not-that-effective-but-still-funny-to-play-with swype keyboard )
My findings with SWYPE are :
1. when you set your keyboard to SWYPE and do FACTORY reset, you might get problem in the "re_registration" your Nook. For some reason, the factory reset will not erase everything and the device is looking for SWYPE keyboard - which is obviously not there. So you won't have any keyboard to type onto !!! Having not a backup might get you in serious trouble !!!
2. As mentioned over here, the word prediction/suggestion is not visible so really, there is the small nuisance when you have to correct few words. keep an eye on it, when writing.
3. You might find a little bit frustrating the highlighting of a pressed button. Well, OK ... the truth is, that it's TOTALLY ANNOYING !!! Have a look on my video on youtube so you know, what I'm talking about :
youtube.com/watch?v=OYKjvqhxJmU&context=C3503defADOEgsToPDskIus5a7mP57B922B9wWU5cP
But, this can be fixed !!!
youtube.com/watch?v=S3vwQSvjUYM&context=C34142eeADOEgsToPDskJDd6sKkvt8EqkgO74yVfe7
Big THANK YOU goes to "djdarkknight96". His solution is to make the "highlighting" transparent, so it doesn't bother you any more. There was an attempt to make the trace line transparent as well, but without success (FC). Please, have a look at his thread for more info.
P.S. : With the youtube links -> as a new member outside links are not allowed for me yet -> so please add "www"

My findings with this are that the swype keyboard is actually still there, so you need to use adb to delete the apk file and, if you replaced the original, find that one and use adb to add it.

DVP File Copy and another registry editor

I just found a neat little bit of code while browsing the em.dll.
In the RD TEST go to "About EM" type in 6814 and you will get the "+/others/EM_in_EM.xaml" menu. I have not really played around with this yet but it is the first time I have heard of this menu.
This also allows you to execute things like:
EM:ATCMD_REQUEST:
EM:ATCMD_GET:
EM:FILE_COPY:
EM:S_SWINFO;
EM:FLASH_LED_ON
EM:FLASH_LED_OFF
etc
You can also do EM:REGISTRY_SET:" + <path> + "," + <key> + "," + <data type, e.g. DWORD> + "," + <data> + "," + <path_type expressed as int> + ";", 1, false but it just seems to hang there. Trying to see if we can write to anything at all.
Also further look when I was HEX editing, there is a set button in the registry editor but forwhatever reason it is hidden. I need to find a way to actually de compile the dll's but it needs a CLI interpreter.
good find but what of the details I wonder...

The SET button doesn't work even after being enabled. Are you refering to the EM (v1.12) in the new Mango FW (.219).
By the way, the details you listed were there right from beginning and is of no use until post nodo DVP update(EM app V1.10)..worth a try in V1.12, but i doubt.
I only had the nodo 1.10 version. I don't know how to extract the EM app.

Got it to compile. Need to get the 1.12 dll's now
** EDIT **
Oh dear god...it was version 0.26 :|.
Grrrr. Where would the EM App be located ine the file structure. \Windows\?
** EDIT **
I think this was actually created by Microsoft for Dell if you look at the signing and the properties of the dll. I wonder if that is why it is so locked down

Every Native dll is signed by Microsoft TCB. As for the EM App, it would most likely be hidden in \Windows. I would try \Windows\EM_App.xap. You can always see if you can copy the \Windows\FieldTestApp.xap and open it up and see what you get. Alternatively, look at the WMAppManifest.xml within the EM App project and you should be able to more or less guess what the name of the .xap would be.
What about EM:FILE_COPY command? What does it do?
Strange, but it seems this command has only one argument like:
EM:FILE_COPY:\Update.log;
If I write command with more arguments like EM:REGISTRY_GET, for example:
EM:FILE_COPY:\Update.log,\UpdateApp2.log;
It will return FALSE, FILE_NAME_ERROR!

[Q] ** HD2 Free Game + Android Market Compatibilty!

Hi my friends!
i have something for you today and its nothing less then Brothers in Arms 2 for free! Some of you alrdy know it for sure!
http://dailymobile.se/2011/12/11/free-android-game-brothers-in-arms-2-global-front/
My problem here is that i cant install it cause of incompatibilty!
If i follow this link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftB2HM
It says:
"This Article isnt compatible with your device"
If i search the game in Market over my Mobile i cant even find it!
So i'm asking myself how to update the Market file which allows me to download this game over my mobile? Maybe tell them i have a HTC Sensation instead of a HD2 Leo. Is that possible?
Thanks for any help here
Install File Expert (file explorer).
Browse to /sdcard/Android/
Click to edit "startup.txt" & chose an editor (I use TED text editor)
Edit the lcd_density=167 to lcd_density=160
Exit editor saving the file
Browse to Internal storage /system/
Long click on "build.prop" and change permissions to get full access to the file.
Long click on "build.prop" and Open as.. text (Using TED text editor)
Scroll all the way down till you find & edit the ro.sf.lcd_density=167 to ro.sf.lcd_density=160
Exit editor saving the file.
Exit File Expert
Open Application Manager and go to Market
Select "Details/Clear cache/Force stop"
Click "Force stop" & "OK"
Click "Clear data" & "OK"
Exit App Manager
Open the Rom Manager app.
Touch "Fix Permissions"
Re-boot
Hopefully this works! If not, try changing density to 240 (instead of 160) as many advise this is better. However a 240 density, makes display larger, while 160 is very much similar to what you now have.
(based on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1344334)
Thanks for the info, but that didnt help.
I tried that 2mins ago. I have wrote the other thread you have mentioned that.
The problem isnt like with Adobe Flash Player. I couldnt install it either, but at least i was able to find it in androind market. Changing LDC Density helped here.
But i cant even find the game Brother in Arms 2 in market. So i think it has simple compatibility problems. I think i need to know how to change my mobile ID from HD2 to something different like HTC Sensation or similar.
Do you know what i mean?
I just checked and I have the same problem.
If you want to change the name from HD2 to something purely Android, you just need to edit build.prop and change the lines that contain "HTC HD2" or "HTC Leo" or "Leo" to something like "Sensation"
hopefully this helps!
Solved! Download Brothers in Arms 2 for free
ok i will try it and give feedback asap
thanks
Edit:
Ok that worked Did it by changing following values in /System/build.prop:
ro.product.model=HTC Pyramid
ro.product.name=htc_pyramid
ro.product.device=pyramid
ro.product.board=pyramid
ro.build.product=pyramid
You can leave the density (in my case 190) and the android version (in my case - ro.build.version.release=2.3.7) untouched
Downloading now. Thanks for your help!
I will try to find something more helpfull, like a step-guide or tutorial...

Nah, it worked. Everything is fine now Thank you!
Edit: Starting it right now, Gameloft logo comes and asking me to download 258MB additional files
Happy that I could help..
As for the game, I thought that 2.5 MB listed on the Market wouldn't be enough..
Enjoy mate!
Never i thought the same haha.
Thanks, you too I#m in the Mainmenu now and about to start the game
