SMS vibrate notification not working - Hero, G2 Touch General

As the title says really, I cannot get my Hero to vibrate when I get a text message. In Messages > Settings > Vibrate, the option is ticked but even if I untick / restart / retick it still doesn't work. I've also tried pressing the volume button down to vibrate mode and back again but that makes no difference.
I've even tried working with Handcent and yet I still cannot get the vibrate working. Everything else works such as the status bar notification but that's it.
The vibrate part is definitely working for phone calls and other apps so I don't think that it's a hardware problem. Any idea what could be causing it?
Cheers.

Hero does not vibrate on SMS, email, but does otherwise. What is the next step?

My phone doesn't seem to be vibrating on SMS or when receiving email (gmail notifier). It used to, but I don't remember when it stopped. If I put the phone in vibrate only mode, and use test notification, it also doesn't vibrate.
It does vibrate when I receive calls. There is haptic feedback on the dialer. When I ask the phone to vibrate (moving the rocker all the way down) it works. It also vibrates with the alarm. On start up, I also get that short vibrate as "htc" comes on the screen. So I think the vibrate feature is working, but not all the time. I'm pulling my hair out here and not sure what to do. Should I reflash the rom? Should I wipe and restart?
I am using freshrom 1.1 with the gumbo custom kernel. I had been using chompsms which wasn't vibrating so I switched to Handcent, which also isn't vibrating. Weird maybe??
EDIT: FIXED! Thanks for the help DirtyShroomz. Sound Manager did the trick.
Download sound manager, hit menu-vibrate settings and turn on notifications vibrate
Thats pretty weird. I have used both of those programs and never had a problem. I know in Handcent there is a check box for vibrate. I just switched to chomp and mine is still working.
Wow. It worked, awesome. Thanks!
Interestingly, under Sound Manager's vibrate settings, the ringer setting was still on, but the notification setting was off. I guess this means it was somehow inactivated but this is the way to get it back. Excellent.

Phone wont vibrate for text message

I just noticed today, that my Nexus one wont vibrate when i receive text messages. I first thought it might of been Handcent SMS so i deleted that and started to use stock. Yet the problem continues. I checked the settings and i have it set to always vibrate. Any fix around this?
make sure that you have vibrate checked in settings for the messaging application. other than that, i think sometimes apps mess around with the vibrate settings. try the app Sound Manager from the market place and then in the context menu they have a vibrate setting. if it's not already selected, which explains what's been going on, select "vibrate whenever possible." that's what worked for me...
I had this problem with 2.2 on my G1, would vibrate sometimes then would never vibrate again.
I think it must be possible to burn out the motor that makes the vibration.
Do you use any apps that vibrate heavily often?
Use Ringo Lite. Works for me. You can even set a vibrate pattern.
I had a similar problem except i had no vibrations; all settings squared away, hard reset, basic troubleshooting. Turned out the motor burned out. Sent it to HTC and they repaired it for me.

Keeps vibrating!!!

I turned off all vibration or feedback and yet my phone vibrates when I get incoming calls. I unchecked all the boxes trust me and it still vibrates? Is it just me or does anyone else get this? I simply don't want it to vibrate when i get incoming calls!!!
Any suggestions!

Is the profile on vibrate? Try Menu > Settings > Sounds > Vibrate in General.
nope! it's on Normal with vibrate unchecked
Had the same issue and found this on Androidworld:
Try this:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications
Find the keyboard software you are using (for example "Android-Keyboard"), press "delete cache" and "delete data". This removes al personal settings of the keyboard.
After that I rebooted and vibration was turned off. Hopes it works!
Does this also remove all dictionary entries?

On a side note, I think I get times where the phone occasionally vibrates for no good reason - no apparent notification, no apparent change or anything.

Get exactly the same thing. No idea why as it's completely random and can be days between.

Good, at times I thought it was me going mad but I'm 100% sure it does this occasionally - but it could be absolutely anything, so I didn't even bother trying to find the cause.
I'm getting the same. 1 short followed by 3 short "pulses". The phone was in silent-mode (no vibrate), and I didn't get any calls og messages at the time.

Vibration notifications

For some reason I cant stop my notifications from vibrating when my phone is in vibrate mode. Its been a while but Im pretty sure in the past on my S7 I was able to have my notifications muted if my phone was in vibrate mode (except for texts and calls). I only want my phone to vibrate when I receive a call or a text if I am in vibrate mode. Otherwise I want all other notification sounds and vibration silent/muted/no vibrate when I have the phone in vibrate mode. This may have changed with a recent OTA update, currently on PE1. Am I missing something?
1) In settings/Sound and Vibration, Vibrate while ringing is checked and actually grayed out, I cannot unselect it. Which is fine because I want it to vibrate when ringing unless I mute the phone.
2) In Email notifications, notifications are on, but Vibrate is turned off and actually grayed out, I cannot turn it on. I have 3 email accounts setup through the built in Email app and all 3 are set to the same thing. Yet, it still vibrates when I get a notification.
I thought I had this figured out but apparently not. I ONLY want phone and texts to vibrate my phone when in vibrate mode. I want all other notifications muted. I have email vibration turned OFF but it still vibrates, along with most other notifications. Since I have 3 email accounts set up on my phone, this is quite annoying. What am I missing? Does vibrate mode make everything vibrate even if I have vibrate turned off on nearly all apps?
Try using do not disturb instead. You can customize it to allow phone and text messaging to go thru, and mutes everything else
Vibrate mode means vibrate. Why would you expect it not to vibrate when you use a setting called "Vibrate"?

No vibration on SMS

Hello, I've been serching for solution quite a while and didn't found any answer.
Since now when I just tap on volume switch in notification panel to ser vibration mode every notification was silent just vibrates: incoming calls, sms, gmail and other. Now all vibrates except sms. I went to message settings and ticked "vibrate" but then it vibrates always, no matter which mode I set. I've been looking for a mentioned setting where I can choose when to vibrate, always, on silent, etc. But there is no such option.
I never set those things up and it worked. Didn't change anything.
