Does anyone have a clue how SlingPlayer will be operated on the HD2? especially the tiny Controller interface, I wonder how it will be interfaced via a capacitive screen? (I know that Sling has a player for the iPhone, which I had never seen, does it utilize a more finger freindly interface?)
Thanks
Anyone has an idea on that matter?
Tiny but it works, it's the same size as on my Diamond 2.....but Full Screen mode rulezzzzzzz
Thanks

When I had the Toshiba TG01 slingplayer's video quality was far better than on any other winmo device I tried and the iPhone.
If you have a good internet connection you will get 30fps no problem all the time.
I believe the HD2 will be the same.
The controls are small but usable, bearly.
I have been trying to drum up support on the uservoice forum for sling to get better controls for windows mobile. I have posted request for support before but as I suspect the total amount of users that use a slingbox is quite low so its slow going.
I have recently done the same thing for the layar app and support for that is amazing.
So I'll try again and see if we can get some updates from sling.
Please register and give your comment & votes. If we don't ask we don't get!!

^^^ What he said!
I'm using version 1.6.0.114. Is this what everyone else is using? The max resolution for this is 320x240.
What settings does everyone have configured?
New version released, Much better but fewer quality settings to customize. There is a thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623914&highlight=Slingplayer
Just thought I'd post here in case you ain't seen it.

Hey Man, are you using version 1.6? How did you get fullscreen, mine shows black bars in the sides, no matter if i use letterbox or normal display .
By the way, I have a Slingbox classic...
Hi. It seems pretty quiet in this thread so I'm guessing slingbox/-player isn't that widely used. By HD2-owners at least. Still I'm hoping someone has some input for downloading the slingplayer on HD2.
I've noticed that HD2 isn't listed as supported at all on http://www.slingmedia.com/go/slingplayer-mobile but judging by this thread people are obviously using it.
When I go to mobile.slingmedia.com as instructed I only get the choice between Motorola and Sony Ericsson when choosing my country. The nearest I think I come to the HD2 is the Touch Pro II version by selecting US as country. I have downloaded this cab, but I haven't installed it yet.
Now I guess it won't hurt to install this .cab, but does anyone know if this works and if so is the best choice?
And it seems this is the 2.0 version which seems to only be supported for the US. If so, is it still possible to download the previous version? I can't really see them mentioning the different versions at all on slingmedia.com...
Sorry if this got a bit long, but I've just purchased a sling box solo and making it work on HD2 is kind of a key element
I don't download a device specific version, Some how you can get it to just say Windows Mobile 5/6 and Touch then it will give you the right version.
I do see the choice of windows mobile 6 on my computer, but I can only go as far as http://support.slingbox.com/go/dl-spm-winphone-spm2 and then it says that "Desktop downloads are not available for SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Phones". When i switch to HD2 and go to http://mobile.slingmedia.com I come to the previous mentioned country and phone choosing predicament.
Do you have a download link for me? And do you download the program on your computer first or directly on the HD2? I'm feeling kind of silly thinking this really shouldn't be this hard...
I have just been through the download web page on my phone and all you need to do is select "Other Windows Mobile" Then it will give you the option of Touch Screen WM6 or WM5 or Non Touch Screen etc.
Just Pick WM6 Touch Screen and thats the version you need. Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for your efforts but I'm still not there.
In Opera on HD2 I don't se the choice of "other windows mobile" only "Windows phone" (I'm here: http://support.slingbox.com/go/downloads-spm). When I choose windows phone I do get the three choices you mention. When choosing WM6 Touch I come to http://support.slingbox.com/go/dl-spm-winphone-spm2 just as I would on my laptop. There I find no download link just that it tells me to go to http://mobile.slingmedia.com on my mobile.
Is this what you are doing? I really would appreciate a link to the page you start from and/or perhaps a link to a page with an actual download button...
Hmmmm
This is the link that I have in my bookmarks from when I first updated to Version 2. It definatly comes up with option "other windows mobile" in my Opera
http://mobile.slingmedia.com/go/phoneSelector
Thanks. It may be that you can skip the country choice page, but I believe I've been her before when I chose the US.
As I mentioned in my first post I downloaded the Touch Pro II version. The thing I was wondering most about was if this is correct for the HD2? And if it works even if you're not in the US? I can't really figure out why that should matter in the first place...
By the way, how is the sling player on HD2 working out for you? I saw there was some comments on a decrease in quality in v2.0? Weird, but still I might accept that for some better controls...
Didn't work with my Opera Mini
I had to use Explorer to see the options.
I also loaded it on my old Tilt to see if there was a difference in video quality from 1.6, as stated on the other thread in Themes and Apps, or if it was an HD2 issue. There was a noticeable negative difference, but good streaming. Went back to 1.6 and had same good streaming with better quality video. Try both and make your choice. Signal strength on both ends makes a difference. Poor quality images are better than no images at all.

Hi guys
do you know any program for Uiversal that enables the device to video chat with another pc. i have fount microsoft portrait , but it doesnt support universal webcam.
thanks.
no ways?
I'm also looking for that kind of application.
Anyone could help us?
Many thanks in advance!
Currently, there're no TCP/IP-based (that is, no UMTS-based "native") chatter apps.
I too would love to have this kind of app, it just brings the Universal to yet another level!. Ive tryed searching but found nothing. I hope someone finds something soon
SKYPE
Anyone tried SKYPE mobile? I hear it works on PDA's I think it has video also.
How about Microsoft Portrait... http://research.microsoft.com/mcom/portrait/
skype>>doesnt have video chat
portaite>>doesnt support universal camera
did you ever used cool camera software that get the ppc video to pc with active sync i think this is based on tcp/ip.we should use this http://www.ateksoft.com/ >>cool camera. plz test it and find that can we change the ip off the pc that configurated in this program.
well the new beta skype has live webcam, maybe a matter of time skype will release a new better beta skype with webcam
but it would be awsome
the new version of skype that has webcam its only for pc i think and its version 3 but i am not sure
That cam on the front was a damned waste.
Well not really, it was only ever put there for video calling, which some people apparently use somewhere.
Nearly everyone I know has a 3g phone, not one person uses video calling though,
skype mobile does not support video chat. Pointless to post information that you haven't verified or can confirm.
Odd, I've got the universal using the front camera on portrait today.
Make sure you use beta 3.0 and soft reset after installing it.

Sounds like some Bull**** Buddy. Nothing personal, but I've tried about 20 different possiblities, including changing the registry entry for the cam that portrait uses and it does not every work with the video call camera, only the main camera on the universal. Further research has shown that there are almost 30 other people who have made posts in various different forums about this very issue with different branded universals. It seems that with the current version its not possible. If you really did do this somehow, posting more useful information about what else you've installed or what you've tweaked may help someone reproduce it. As far as Im concerned however, this Myth is BUSTED.

Exactly, thank you for confirming. I've written ms portrait support to add support for the secondary universal camera, but alas, Im only one voice. I encourage you all to go to the site and ask them to add this feature.
Hello everyone!
I'm new on this forum and I've only read TONS of useful information till now...Few days ago I bought an HTC Touch device and immediately I flashed its ROM with a new one found in this *** WONDERFUL *** site
Well, in the past I developed some (stupid) applications for Windows in several languages; then I discover the "pocket-pc" world and began to have to do with it! One night I was reading about a feature of a developement-version of a well known browser and WOOOOOOOW!!!! "You can perform several actions, like scrolling, panning, zooming...only by moving your phone!" The software use image-processing algorithms to recognize your gestures ...only using the built-in camera!!!! No accelometers needed...
Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3pVaEVHpvI
Now, image-processing algorithms are not too difficult to implement...but how can I get access to the built-in camera on my Htc ?!? I tried to search all over the internet, and in this forum too...but I found only few things about HTCCameraAPI and many other programs and their dlls. I cannot believe there's no way to have access to the camera!!!
HELP please!!! this "project" could be very interesting!
One thing is sure - it _can_ be done, and it can work really good, even on weak hardware - look at this:
http://rivia.net/Fishopolis.aspx
I just tried the demo and i was amazed how well it worked on my wizard (especially considering its crappy camera), even in less than perfect lighting conditions (incadescent light). No overclocking required.
Also, from what i've seen WM7 is going to use the camera-based gestures too. So, anyone willing to beat M$ to it and develop a camera-based ftouchflo-like app?
I've looked at the libs, and I've even dabbled in the source, and this is my next project. Like I said, we know it can be done, it's just a matter of doing it. Obviously though, I've got to finish off PocketMelody etc. But it's my next move, once no one beats me to it . And personally, I hope someone does! It's not THAT hard.
Welcome to the forums gregnapola!
This website hepled me choose my very first PPC Phone 18 months ago and helped it become the best little device I own. It just keeps getting better and better with tools such as FTouchFlo, PocketMelody and Picture Flow, and I look forward to this feature onMY HTC Hermes!
Shows how much really can be done with this WM platform, all you need is developers with imagination and talent (and all the other things that go along with it like coffe and donations and and respect on the forums ).
Thanks guys.
maybe we would have some1 develop a program that automatically changes portrait mode into landscape by jus rotating the camera..hey u never kno..this is XDA-DEVELOPERS..
Sounds awesome and would definitly love to see this done. Just a quick question about it. Would it be a big battery drain to have this running all the time?

Considering that you're not rendering anything to the screen, it's at least safe to assume you'll be using A LOT less power than if you were walking around with your camera application on all day .
Thank you for your replies...
I've just installed the demo version of "Rivia Fishopolis" to see how well can it work but it doesn't run it because of an unknow security-error
Now, I found a lot of useful camera-based applications, but they'll come in the future - I'm talking about WM7 gesture-based control, NetFront 3.5 or EyeMobile Games by GestureTek...but all I really need is the way to capture frames by my Elf camera; code samples in any Visual Studio language with HTCCameraAPI, or any other lib...
any update?
I'd also love to substitute my D-Pad for a Camera-based Motion Tracking system
No Dev takes this challenge?

Would it be possible to have it access the front camera too and switch of the LCD when you're talking on the phone? Something like what the iPhone does to save battery.

Chris
Im trying to use Fishopolis on my phone ( an HTC Wizard) but i keep on getting some kind of weird security error.
Any ideas why im getting that error and how to fix it?
doesn't seem to work with the camera on the Hermes...hmmm
Looks like we will have to wait until 2009 for WM7.
wouldn't it consume a lot more battery if camera is always on.
just my thought
I think this is a cool idea and I think I mentioned this somewhere else in this forum, but if this could be done, it would be cool if one could use the camera of there phone, link it via bluetooth and use it as a mouse for a laptop.
Just thinking outloud.

It looks as though the new Skyfire beta supports 640 resolution. Is there any workaround to get it to run on the X1? Even if it isn't full screen?
Tried the WVGA Fix, however it's still not working. Loads and lets me login, however it's only using a fifth of the screen on the left.
It works!! Go to get.skyfire.com with your IE browser and you will get a htc cab.. download and install it.. run wvga fix and it works...!!
I downloaded it form the Netherlands.. They say there is already a UK datacenter...
Doesn't work. I changed the resolution but when I wanna start Skyfire it keeps "connecting" without starting. When I cancel the whole thing the whole phone gets stuck...
I got it to work, but frankly I'll stick with PIE and opera. Sure the flash support is nice and all but I didn't like the UI. It felt low-res. I'm gonna wait for the next opera/PIE release.

How then? What did I do wrong?
I read on some news site like msmobiles.com or so that the browser does NOT work in all countrys right now !
I live in germany and it DOES work here ! (With WVGA Fix 2 of course)
The low-res look is caused because Skyfire "emulates" VGA right now, so it only "dublicates" the pixel (from QVGA) instead of using the VGA display to get a smoother image.
I guess future version will improve this. This is the first version to support VGA and it is still BETA
My two cents : Use Skyfire when you HAVE to open a FLASH site which does not work with Opera/Flash Lite.
Just installed the latest Skyfire beta. Yep; worked for me with the WVGA fix program.
Yeah it's a double-pixel resolution but things look good if you zoom in. In any case, its rendering of CSS and everything is flawless; just like IE does it.
No link to download a cab file to PC? Gotta access the URL through the phone?
sorry for the obvious question...but where do I get the WVGA fix program?
thank you!
found it. Sorry, I didn't realise it was a seperate app (I assumed it was a fix specifically for skyfire)
WVGAFix 2 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442426
I manage to get skyfire working, Iplayer works but sound goes after a minute
then comes back on unexpectedly then goes again what could be the problem?
btw I am impressed pity about the sound
`
What can be so annoying about some member that post on this topic lol they say go to website download and there you go.
I manage to get skyfire working sounds ok too,
for xperia the file is for touch version and my version that works has a file size of 584,909 bytes. Install to device, The version I have running for that cab says is version : 0.85.0.7927 remember to run wvga fix first and set to vga mode, Then start Skyfire
Also if you have a problem with it saying authenticate and checking data go to your phone connection settings and untick your proxy for your internet connection (effectively bypassing it)
p.s dont worry t-mobile users since your using the same acess point your data cost wont be affected depending if your on web,n walk (uk)
enjoy next time any member posting please explain fully its anoying when they generalised to a point and expect everyone to get it straight away we all are not genius phewww.. i feel better now
Has anybody tried this on there Titan yet?
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/6on6
I've used IE6 from no2chem's NueROM-M 201 and it rocks! You can find download here for that ROM. I've heard not-so-good things about using IE6 before I actually used it, and I have to say it probably is one of those that you either love or hate. I happen to love it. New download manager, better zoom support, JS, CSS, Flash, switch between Desktop and Mobile code view. I have to say - as a web developer and WinMo user for the better part of two years - do everything you can to get this application. It is awesome!
Jacob,
Glad to hear that you liked the new IE6, I can't wait to try it.
I am sure someone will be looking for it, so sere's a direct link to the standalone IE6 .cab: HERE.
Thanks in advance,
Matt!
Does the cab, IE6, replace IE Mobile? How is performance on the titan, with its limited memory, is IE6 actually usable or is it like Opera 9 (Out of memory errors)?
I'm on the NueROM as well and I found it to be very slow - especially when used to browse forums.

Unable to find app
I installed the cab, it asked to restart my phone, I did so and now I am unable to find any changes. I've repeated this process twice. The first time I installed to main memory with no joy. The second I installed to the memory card and was unable to locate any changes at all in any folders. I tried launching pIE to see if it was just a overall replacment also to no avail. I could use some help if I've don'e something incorrect.
Yeah I see no changes. Is this really the right cab? Hopfully if I uninstall it, it won't delete my mobile IE
Since I backed up everything, Im very daring.
I've tested this uninstall for you and it doesn't remove pIE
Im going to take apart the cab and see whats in it.
**edit**
I don't know what Im looking for to be honest. It went quicker to view it than I thought.
Thanks I appreciate it. I would like to know where the thread of that attachment came from.
Hmm. The more I use the IE Mobile and read about it, the more it seems to be missing. I have the browser set to mobile view, yet it stays in full desktop style. Had this problem in NueROM and now in GaMedic's ROM. Was under the impression it doesn't work - now I wonder if it just isn't working on my Mogul for some reason.
EDIT - Oops. I need to clarify - the mobile/desktop toggle works in that it disguises my mobile when I goto sites that auto-detect. I really miss the One-Column style browsing. Any way to bring that back?
Its really slow and the web pages dont fit the screen so I quickly removed it
Here is HAVA's wm 6.5 beta player. Fixes landscape mode, audio and remote. Will post when final version is in. Works with widescreen!!
Awesome! Now all I need is WM 6.5. I loved the way my HAVA worked on my Motorola Q9c but hasn't worked well at all thus far on the TP2.
Probably a stupid question but is this 6.5 only or will it work on 6.1?
Tried it and it installs. The whole app no longer hangs, but the video still freezes. I checked Hava forums and it seems they are pretty much dead. This is GREAT progress, please keep it coming. Where are you getting these updates?
Thank you.
Trying it some more and the video isn't freezing as much as studdering.
Observations:
It happens worse when in full screen mode, if I leave the remote up it is better.
When in full screen mode, it does not fill the screen (video only in center of screen.)
About every minute I get a message "Close the window/menu and tap here to resume video" There is no window/nemu open. If I tap it continues.
Yes, it will work in 6.1. There are still some small issues as it is beta. Video will not fill entire screen, but is better. This came from VP of customer service at HAVA. They did not want to release it on the site due to being in testing, but with much complaining they emailed it to me. He will also email me the final release when available. I will follow up as he has probably forgotten our conversation already.

Thanks much. I don't know how you found this (not on their site), but its been driving me crazy trying to find a work-around with the other versions. Thought I was the last guy on earth that hasn't given up on his hava box.
holy crap thank you so much
Has anyone tried this on 6.1? It worked great on 6.5, but I've decided to stay on a stock rom for now. Landscape mode is all kinds of screwed up in 6.1.
