Time stamp correction - myTouch 3G, Magic General

If I download the Rogers update to fix the SMS timestamp issue and then fix the perfect spl, will I then a) be able to flash the 2005 spl and the HoFo ROM and b) will the timestamp fix still apply?

C'mon, someone has to know the answer to this.

timestamp fix will not be fixed if you flash a new ROM. Not unless the fix is in that ROM.
Don't bother with the rogers update. Just apply the "smsfixtimes" app in the market not matter which ROM you flash. It now works on all incoming messages.

On the Issue of data crashes

So far, i have been reading up on the issue the message: "Data crashes: please contact your service center" and so far, i really havent seen anything that looks to be a definitive solution or explanation.
Personally, i have a Tmobile wizard with g3 chipset that has this problem. i spent the whole weekend reading up on it and what i did find has been pretty sparse and rather uninformative. I have tried downgrading my rom, unlocking using different version of lokiwiz (amazing tool there, machinagod! its saved my bacon more times than i can mention) and come up with zip.
Ok... so wot is the real problem here? what causes theis message to appear and what is the solution. I am going on my figurative knees to beg for some major help here.
I hope something will come up real soon cos i know that am not the only person with this issue. In the mean time, i am gonna continue looking for info.
To those that find themselves in this situation i just want to tell you that i didn't have to pay to fix my phone. I simply used itsme's tools to flash a new CID block back to the phone (lucky for me that i had a backup of it before facing this problem)
The reason for this is checksum errors in CID block (last 8 bytes of the 64k section) which may occur from bad flashing process or, as in my case, for messing with SPL messages with mtty program.
So all you have to do (if you have a G3 DOC model) is make a backup of CID block before upgrading rom (machinagod's programs create that file automatically when CID unlocking - even if it generates write errors). If the accident happens then downgrade SPL/OS to version 1.06 or bellow and flash the backup CID
Then simply flash new upgrade ROM
cheers

[Q] HP 614c Owner needs help

Helo all - I could really use a hand here. This is the second time I have faced this issue.
When trying to make a call on my 614c when the battery is low, it crashes. Upon reboot, the radio no longer works and I cannot make any calls. It just goes into a permanent "Seaching" mode.
What I've tried:
Reboots - warm and cold
Removing the battery for 30 mins
Reset to defaults
Multiple different ROMs including upgrading and downgrading the Radio
No luck.
Last time (3 months ago) I ended up sending it to ipaqrepair to be fixed.
They said:
"the un-official hacked ROM installed in combination with a corrupt / mismatched GSM Radio ROM, these are the root cause of the issues"
I had actually NOT installed a non-official ROM until after it stopped working in a desperate attempt to fix it. But when they got it, it was a 6.5 ROM.
This time, I had upgraded it to 6.5....but I have since downgraded to the official ROM an installed the. .89 Radio update.
It wont work at all and I can't justify mailing it away for another expensive repair.
Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....
Any ideas? How can I effectively "blow away" all the software/drivers and set the device up as new? IpaqRepair said it was corrupt software last time....
I've installed different ROMs via flash.dio and I tried the HP radio upgrade RUU_1.8.0_081208_MP_M089_WWE. Are their files or settings that the installs I am doing do not affect - and if so, how do I repair/replace them?
Using Sim Manager, it says the phone is not ready. It's just like the phone radio won't initialize...
This phone originated overseas (Europe) - could that be somehow causing this issue since I'm using it in the USA? Something locking or changing and no longer compatible?
Not sure what else I can do and am missing my phone. Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Still fighting with this....maybe onto something now?
When I get the asset viewer information for the phone it shows the radio is present and the firmware number.
the Stack Version, Bootloader Version, Filesystem Verions and Radio GDFS versions are blank.
It does show the IMEI.
I'm guessing I'm missing file/data for the radio....but reinstalling the Radio ROM HP offers has not helped (maybe not complete - just an upgrade?)
Thoughts?
Anyone have a copy of the original ROM and .81 Radio ROM?
Maybe rolling it all the way back might get it operational again....
Official Drivers/Rom/Radio for 614c
Hi,
You can download official drivers from HP website. The forum does not allow me to post the link. Just search for "official 614c drivers" in google and you wil get the link.
Also note, please install using WINDOWS XP os as installing this using other os such windows 7, windows vista etc is not possible.
Okay - I tried installing the software from the HP Website using XP - but it still isn't working. It's just like the software for the radio is corrupted and it won't replace it (does not list the versions like it should when you look at the software inventory).
Is there any way to manually do this? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone can help me get this resolved, I'm definitely buying them a beer.
Basically the GSM just seems to be bricked. Last time a software fix resolved it, but I'm not sure what software needs to be installed to get the radio working again.
What is the best way to blow it all away and start over? Is there a way to manually delete the radio files - or to look at them for versions/dates to see what is corrupt or mismatched.

I guess, you will get enlightenment for the problem on your device at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455840
Bump.....
Still hoping for a solution. I have gone to a Glisten now, but do not like it as much as the 614c.
I'm open to any suggestions.

[Q] Still no 2.1

I didn't receive my OTA update yet.
I live in the Netherlands and my phone was bought in Belgium (Orange)
The ROM version is 2.73.66.5
Does anyone now why I still didn't receive the OTA for 2.1?
Try changing the date forward.
Already tried that
I think there is an anycut shortcut that forces a check for update.
EDIT: or try *#*#checkin#*#* (type that in on the keypad in the phone app)
I'm assuming your version is a typo - it's probably 2.73.61.5. If so, you will need to download and apply another update from your local Orange website - version 2.73.61.66, assuming it's the same as the UK. You will (well, I did) lose everything off your phone when you flash this version, so back everything up. As soon as it finishes rebooting after the flash, it will advise you of the 'part 1' update, and following that, the full 2.1 update. Hope this helps.
Rich.

[Q] revert back to factory set OS Version

I changed my provider to Telstra Australia (from AT&T US) to force capture OEM updates, and was successful.
using this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381162
Now, my current OS Version is 7.10.8773.98. But I am encountering problems with this version.
My phone has become slow and is a bit lagging. The main problem is that, It has no connectivity problem, it turns to emergency calls only mode where there is less signal ; which didn't happen earlier.
Now, I want to revert back to the factory set version mode (apparently to which even AT&T has an update). Can you tell me how can I do it?
Or provide the thread links. I am not able to figure it out.
And I have reset my phone from setting and doing a hard reset.
The OS remains the same.
Flash a mango ROM from the carrier of your choice and you'll be back to 7720
Just Flash AT&T Mango ROM from the links of collection of all the stock ROM.
For how to flash use this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508150
I'm also on telstra rom , I have faced no such issues. No lag. No connection issue.
Thanks guys.
Pranjal : I think, then the problem would have been in some tweak, made a bad registry change.
Just do a hard reset. DO a full unlock. Install Windows Phone 7 hack tools from bazaar
using xap installer, install some registry editor from bazaar itself and make a back up of registry!
search windows phone bazaar and you'll get all the software required to do this
1)Windows Phone Device manager
2) Root manager
3) Registry editor.

Thanks Pranjal
That's exactly what I did, and its working fine now.
Still, I'd try updating to 7.8 again and see if the same problem exists, if it does, i'll flash telstra rom and maybe get the updates then.
You are welcome to telstra rom, but I have not got the 7.8 update and i'm on telstra rom
People are saying that they have Tango update using telstra...but nothing happened in my case.
I would urge you to flash telstra, who knows may be I did something wrong?
I have tried everything...Debranding, Rebrading nothing seems to work. And no one uploads the package. You give it a try and let me know.

You didn't tell us why you want to change your modem, so it's impossible to give a certain answer to your question. It's not strictly necessary to flash both, but in most cases you would be best served to flash the full firmware, which will normally contain the modem and bootloader. Unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise, keep them a matched set.
Of course if you had done a search before posting, you'd already know this. You can search the forum or one of the many firmware repository sites for firmware. A quick look at Sammobile suggests that ANF3 or ANF4 are the newest 900W8 versions. Again, unless you have a credible reason to do otherwise stick to a modem from your carrier. i.e. the carrier that the phone originated from regardless of what carrier you will actually use it on.
If there is some compelling reason that you need to flash the modem only, you could extract the modem.bin file from the full firmware, package it as a .tar.md5 file and flash it on the CP line of Odin 3.09. If you are flashing the full firmware, enter the file name on the AP line.

Haha. Well thanks for the highly descriptive answer bud. I wanted to flash the newest modem because I found I was having tons of problems with the newest builds of roms like Omega and Xtrestolite. for instance I couldnt send outgoing texts. I asked around and never got a clear answer so just from reading I figured I needed the newest modem to get everything going properly. Im very new to this even though ive been an xda member for awhile i only recently starting doing a lot of flashing. Anyways its now clear after flashing new builds as well as extracting the modem for the newest stock firmware and I still cant get texts! Thanks for the advice

I think that your problem is highly unlikely to be caused by or solved by changing your modem. Have a close look at your configuration. If you can't find any errant settings. then do this:
Backup your system. Then use Odin to temporarily revert to the oldest 4.4.2 build (must be pre-June 3rd) for your carrier. i.e. you are installing a 100% stock build that is known not to have serious SMS issues. See if that resolves your problem or not to narrow down the source of the problem. And while I doubt that the problem is from your custom ROM per se, you could if you want just move to another custom ROM. There are a lot, the vast majority of which have no SMS issues.
At a guess, your problems are far more likely to be due to bad APN info, bad cache (clear your cache in recovery mode and also clear cache and data for your SMS client from the settings menu application manager) or a carrier side issue (open a support ticket).
If it was my phone, I'd be trying all of the points in the paragraph immediately above first. And only if that fails to resolve your problem (which is highly unlikely) would I be messing with modems, reverting to full stock firmware or migrating to a different ROM.

Ok noted. So i've reverted to stock a few times and SMS always worked. I've re rooted twice, tried different recoveries each time and tried a few different roms. heres what happens:
-Very first rom I've ever tried is Xtrestolite 1.2.2. . ZERO issues, kept updating as new versions came out till I got to 1.3.2. So even though 1.3.1 used the new firmware, I was still able to flash it with no issues. Then as soon as i tried the latest build, 1.3.2, couldnt text at all. I know its something to do with my SMSC because when i installed GO SMS pro from the playstore and manually inputted my SMSC i could text via that app, but not the stock one or even hangouts. Since 1.3.2 was using a slightly different firmware number I just assumed it was the modem. Exact same issue with Omega rom- V6 worked great, as soon as I flashed V7 no outgoing texts. Everything else worked by the way (incoming and outgoing calls, and incoming texts) Just not outgoing
So the reason for starting this thread is because i seem to only be able to use the last version of the 2 roms im interested in if I want to be able to text from the default app. I also checked with members using both roms, that had the W8 and they didnt experience these issues at all. We even went over the steps to get from stock unrooted to flashing the latest builds and my steps were identical to those people who didnt have my issue with the W8. I have no idea what to do but I will likely go back to stock for now. Thanks again
