SMS text showing when message arrives

hi
is there a way to disable this?
when a sms arrives it shows imeadiatly on the screen if someone is using the phone...they will read it even withou wanting to.
is there a way to prevent this?

Yes, under Settings go to Sounds & Notifications, there Select an event- Inbox: New SMS message, and then you just have to uncheck "Display message on screen".

Switch off new e-mail notification, but still have sms/vm/missed call etc?

I've gout my Touch HD syncing with Exchange Server, and so constantly get a 'Notification' on the screen that requires dismissing, as new e-mails arrive.
(I thought I would be able to go to Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications, then find the Messaging: New e-mail message and uncheck the 'display message on screen' but this isn't checked)
Are you only able to switch notifications on or off globally? I guess you still get an icon to indicate a missed call or sms.... what do other people do?

Try one of the Tweak software packages out there, I am sure there is something in there for notifications.

Tweak HD lets you switch SMS sent notifications on/off, but that's all.....

I can't remember how to...

disable the SMS pop up? My phone died yesterday, so I reflashed with the latest ROM. It's been almost a year since I have messed with the settings. I can't find where to keep the SMS message pop up from coming on the screen when texts are recieved. Any help will be appreciated!!!

Start -> Settings Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications Tab -> Drop Down menu option Messaging: New text message -> Uncheck Display message on screen

How to enable vibration for incoming text messages?

Hey guys,
Searched the entire forum and HTC's manual but couldn't find any info of how to enable a Ringtone and vibration for incoming text messages at the same time. By default my device just rings and mostly times i can't hear it in my pocket. This creates a big inconvenience for me, in fact that I have to check my phone for incoming text messages all the time.
Is there any setting or app i can use to fix it?

Start > Settings >Sounds & Notifications> *switch to notification tab* > *scroll to Message: New Message under Event > you can enable vibration for new sms there.

[Q] Disable incoming SMS Notifications on Hero

Hi ,
everytime that we got SMS in HTC Hero , we can see the New SMS Icon + name/phone of the Sender and the Text MSG in the notification bar .
I'm wondering is there anyway to have just ONLY new sms icon in the Notification bar instead of seeing the sender name/phone and their text msg ???
Any help would be GREAT

There may be others aswel. Handscent (a very popular sms client) may even have some options for it, I just haven't got my phone with me to check for you.

thanks , tried that App , it can hide the SMS sender name and text msg from top of the Phone , but STILL when u open the notification bar u can see everything (sender name and his text msg) .

If you are on Froyodvillain ROM 1.5 then Open your Msg App > Go to Menu > Settings > Notifications settings > Untick Notifications Hope that Helps

Use autostarts to stop messaging from responding to received sms.
Oh wait, that will stop all notifications.
