Need recommandation for screen protector? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi, my device is HTC Cingular 8525. I want to get a screen protector film. I do have one now pushed on my phone, but its too cheap as I can see scrathes I made on it after one week use. I want get a new better one that doesn't have such kind of problem. I already look a lot of products. ZAGG's InvisibleShield ones seem good but I don't think buying a film for 15 dollars when my phone only worth 100 dollars is a good idea. Also I found on Ebay some item ask 10$ including shippment, but I don't know whether they are good. Therefore I want to ask: Anyone here has any recommendation? (Website links, keywords, ebay seller name, all welcomed) I want a screen protector totally charges below $10 with a reasonable protection against scrathes (both screen and film itself should be okay with scrathes made by stylus pen in normal use)

Screen Protector?

Hi guys, looking to get a screen protector for my M500,
i heard these normally come in the box? my mate who has the T-Mobile version of the magician said that he goes his in the box?
What are your experiences with screen protectors and where did you buy yours from?
i bought my imate jam from dubai, didnt come with a screen protector in the box, was expecting to get one here in the US but cant find teh right size in any stores so now i have 2 options, order it online or buy a universal one that you cut out to the shape of the screen
Screen Protectors
Why buy a screen protector whynot make lots of them
use an A4 sheet of overhead projector acetate and cut
to the size of your PDA screen and add an extra 1/4" to
each end and tuck it under the screen ends. When its
dirty etc...just cut another one !
the screen protector that came with my mda compact was of very bad quality compared to the one I was using on my former HP 6310, which I got from Proporta.com.
So I ordered one for the jam and its great. It is washable, anti reflective, scratchresistent and responsive to stylus action. Their sevice is great also. They even include a sac of english breakfast tea in the shipment.
so go for it.
I am using martin fields, I am not an expert in this, but i get alot of positive review on it and the expert rate it 9/10. maybe u can check it at www.overlayplus.com and see what u think
thanks for the help guys,
ended up going for the martin fields one!
just ordered it off eBay for £8.50! not bad at all!
eBay Auction Info: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5800092770
let you know when i recieve it!
I have always been a Martin Fields fan, but lately it seems to me they are not that durable anymore?
Less than a month ago I replaced my protector and there's already scratch marks over each individual letter on the virtual keyboard. I don't write enough for that to be acceptable, so I will soon be looking for another brand
http://www.expansys-usa.com have lots of accessories for the JAM. I've ordered a screen protector from the UK version.
Screen protectors
I can recommend Brando Ultra Clear protectors - they are durable and very very clear. $USD13 inc shipping.

T-Mobile Screen Protector?

When I bought my T-Mobile MDA Compact (UK) I received a free screen protector in the box. It now needs replacing but I dont know where to get one from. I know there are loads of others on the market but the free one has been fantastic and I would like to get another one the same.
Does anyone know where I can get one or who makes it?
Cheers
There are far better screen protectors than the one supplied by T-Mobile.
Search the Expansys website...
Here's one of them:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=117518
They actually cover the entire screen and leave no bubbles and are a sratch resistance.
These are expensive but should last you a long time.
I was actually looking at that one as an alternative. I may well give it a bash.
Cheers
yah i HIGHLY recommend the ppc techs screen protectors. I used 2 brands before on my jam, they were the universal ones that you have to cut to fit which took ages. so i sucked it up and bought this:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=117525
I'm using the AG cover now, will put the C2 one on when this one is dead. but supposedly it doesnt "die". its scratch resistant, once you take it off its reusable. basicly i'm loving this thing and can't ask for anything better. If you dont want to buy the two (AG+C2) heres a little table with the differences of the two.
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/assets/pics/ws_grid.gif
Best protector
The best protector is brando. jap company and expensive too, but worth every p (IMHO).
so do I need to apply both AG+C2 screen protectors at the same time or is it combined

They are both individual items in their own right. Only one is to be applied at any one time.
Take a look at the properties of each one and then decide which is right for.
For example, one of them may reduce screen brightness whereas the other may have a more clearer finish.
Go to your local Jessops Camera store and buy one of their LCD screen protector packs at £3.99 each. In the pack you will find three seperate sheets of Micro thin overlays 96 x 78mm thats at least 6 screen covers (less than 70p a sheet).
Okay you need a pair of scissors but just spend a few minutes making a template with the card board packet the sheets come in. Transfer that onto the sheet, two minutes to cut and then fit.
Spend the next ten minutes cutting the next five sheets out and thats your phone set up for the next year at least.
They appear scratch resistant and last easily as long as the original supplied and cheap enough to be better value than the more expensive screen covers.
You also get a cleaning wipe (put it into a small re-sealable snappy bag afterwards) and a screen lint polisher in the pack.

Protective screen foils and battery suppliers for Wizard

I am looking for a supplier of screen foils and for an extra battery (to permit watching films on flights). I am in the UK, can anyone suggest somewhere either here or on the net/ebay?
Anti-Glare Screen protector here
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Gadgetino_XDA-SPV-iMate-MDA_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQpZ3QQtZkm
Look for the XDAII-Mini - its the same size as the Wizard.
Battery here
http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=Vario+battery
I've used the first for a few items - good service. Not used the second though.
battery also from expansys:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126530
I bought a Brando Screen Protector from pdashop.nl, must say the protector is very good, no glare & no scratches anymore. & my screen is brutalized by the kids with arkaball & other games.
Cheers, M

Also bought one for my K-Jam and is still in use by second owner  . It's a shame they don'have some for Atom
Victor

I saw this on Ebay, it claims to be 1,5Ah but seemed to be unsure whetcher it was a 3.6 or 3.7v
Has anyone tried one?
Also on ebay there were many selling protective foils - I would guess 3M ones would be OK - yet some were selling them in muliples of 12 or 14?
So are they crap or are they crap?
I bought a screen protector from the user "addonsworld", the 'name' of the protector is SENSIFILM.
DO NOT BUY THIS! IT SUXS
It kinda distorted the image, you seems to able to see RGB of your little pixel and it is EXPENSIVE!
I paid €15 for my previous mentioned Brando screen protector. Not cheap for a small piece of plastic, worth every penny though. Really not a single scratch in one month of heavy use.
Cheers, M
Brando Screen Protectors
Anywhere to buy them on a site either in English or French???? Tried Google, but didn't get more than the Dutch & Belgian sites....
Well this is in English http://shop.brando.com.hk/screenprotector.php
Cheers, M
Ok, so pardon me for intruding, but... any source for screen protectors in Italy? ("real" shops in the Milano area are fine, less expensive brands even better).
Thanks in advance!
Brando's for ten euros delivered!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5867264460
but there were other sellers doing TWENTY-EIGHT 3M ones for that price - so is 3M not a good enough make to work well and not need changed 28 times in the same time?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5867264460
I just ordered the protector from Boxwave. I'll let you know. I found this article to be helpful (although its a few years old):

Batteries
http://www.lionbattery.com
They sell Mugen Power high capacity batteries. I used to own the 2400 for my BA: absoulutely fabulous!
Apparently there are new models for the wizard (4400mAh!!!). With that, you can go straight to SanFrancisco!!!
they are in Canada but they have quick and cheap shipping.
I do recommend them.
Cheers,
Hal

Unfortunately you'll have to pay extra to the charter company for the extra weight you'll carry
Those things are seriously huge;

And that's just the 2600mAh one. I would seriously be scared of a 4400mAh!
My magician was replaced by a brand new one this week. It came without a screen-protector & although TMO has promised to send one to me I immediately bought a Brando, again. Don't know tge quality of the 3M, but Brando is IMHO excellent.

Scratches on Athena body

Hello,
i want to change my Ameo in a new one because there are a lot of scratches on the front body. The reason is that the keyboard slipping on the surface of the body.
If any one have the same problem please Post it here because i want to show T- Mobile that this is a failure of construction.
Mine is exactly the same, I tried to take a picture, but it wasnt comming out very well, I was quite annoyed because I tried to keep it good. Does anybody know if this happens with the black ones or is it just silver. mine isnt insured and T-Mobile wouldnt entertain me for insurance because it was 3 months old. though I have heard you can insure it online somewhere.
i've got the same kind of scratches at exactly the same positions.
but i don't think t-mobile will do anything about this
i'ts a normal sign of use
I have some scratches as well, fairly similar to yours. I'll have some pics made if I can get a hold of a good enough camera.
I have a scratch at the bottom of the screen surround. The keyboard clear top has a tiny bump on it (from where it was moulded i think) and this has scratched the case! If it had a decent leather case then it wouldnt happen!
Same here, Same scratches, same area..
Guess we need to find a decent case to carry our precious around in...
Something that has some padding between the 2 parts.
Mine doesn't have this problem. Not a single scratch at all. It still look brand new. I don't use the keyboard or the leather case though. I just carry mine "naked" with my DIY belt pouch. I just have the standard free plastic screen protector over the screen area only and not the body.
This is ironic. The keyboard is supposed to protect but does the opposite.

It definetely does protect (the screen from cracks).
And imho some scratches on the body of the ameo are much better than a cracked screen
You now, we are speaking about a 800€ all in one device? Such a failure must not happen. If you had a 800€ Notebook with the same problem you would complaine about.
This is what my U1000 looks like close to the VGA camera on the front.
There are 2 more areas where I have some damage but I can't capture it properly on camera.
This is why we should take out insurance on our most expensive phones, as i hate scratches on my phones and if you complain about it with your provider/supplier and they are not willing to replace it when its a manufacture defect then i would personally claim on my insurance QUOTE (MY PHONE IS LOST/STOLEN TO GET BACK A REPLACEMENT) Its too expensive a device for it to scratch so easily.
I have the black HTC Advantage and I have the scratches too.
I have the black Athena and barely any scratches on mine. I use the stock case. The only time I got it scratched is when I first got it because I tried to use it without the case. Mistake on my part.
If you search the forum, you can also buy a $25 solution that protects your entire Athena. It's a plastic transparent covering that protects the entire body of the device. I think I may have posted it in the past to the accessories area. Well worth the tiny investment to protect the looks of your device.
Yep, I have the Black HTC Advantage X7500 and I have no scratches on it. I also do carry naked in my pocket especially around the office to meetings. However, I do feel I need something to protect it without gaining the bulk. I am still looking for a belt clip to carry it.
Just found this product.
http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/HTCX7500.html
Read good review on PocketPCThoughts for a different product.
Has anyone tried it? It states as full body shield which includes guards for keyboard as well.
Looks Intresting.. But we all know that these type of solution are never as easy to install (Esp. as there are 8 pieces for the Athena)
as they are in the Promo vidz. The vidz also mention that the film has Adhesive on it. How would this affect the deve by:
1. Discoloring over time
2. Being able to easily remove the film, if need or if damaged.
3. Being removed from the screen, without pulling the touchscreen's
touch sensor film off.
Has anybody tried this stuff yet? I think I'll wait for more feedback before I buy.
http://mobilitytoday.com/articles/invisible_shield_protection.html
From some of comments, it seems easy to remove from a pda.
I don't know if that comment was from someone who works for ShieldZone though.

I just ordered one. I'm having it shipped via 3 day UPS. I'll post my thoughts once I try it out. For the cost it's worth a try. They also have a lifetime replacement policy so if they get screwed up you get a free one. We'll see how it goes.

I have it on for over 4 months. Search this very forum for an extensive discussion on it. Easy to install with the water spray bottle provided. The screen protector is a bit sticky so I took it off and used a regular one.

Whats the Best Screen Protector for Kaiser?

I bought an el cheapo one from ebay and not only does it feel horrible to the touch the edges are starting to fray. I had bought one for my ppc 6700 like 2 years ago that looked like nothing was on the screen and had great tactile feedback, which ones do you recommend for our kaisers?
I have purchased many screen protectors from cheap sites as well as expensive ones. My favorites are the ones from InvisibleShield. They are a bit more expensive, but they are very precisely cut and last a long time. If they ever get scratched you can get them replaced for free as well. I have not tried BodyGuardz, however, which are the same price, but you get two instead of one in the package.
I like the Boxwave Cleartouch a lot.
If you are anything like me, buy the three pack because you'll probably mess up at least one putting it on. While they say you can wash and reuse them, I don't think it's worth it.
That and a can of compressed air to blow the dust off before you put it on and you should be good.
Side note about using a compressed air can - don't use the straw. I had it blow off directly at my screen and thought my screen was permanently damaged. Thankfully, I had been using the screen protector that came with the tilt which has a bit of adhesive on it, so I only "scratched" the adhesive.

I have one of the InvisibleShield HD ones on mine, it is really crisp/clear, doesn't really show fingerprints at all, and its been on my phone for a few months now, and still looks like new.
The only thing I'm not sure of, is that it seems like it may reduce some of the sensitivity of the touchscreen because it is thicker, YMMV though.
I also have the bodyguardz themselves on too, and I'm not nearly as impressed, I'm probably going to pick up one of the Seidio slim rubberdized cases, just trying to spread out the accessory cost right now
I like...
... the one it came with. Still looks new.
im in the UK, i buy 3 screen protectors for asda for £2.99 (guessing thats about $5), so id guess walmart would be a good place to look for cheap ones.
ive had to cut it down to size for my hermes but the screenie i have on it has last over a year
ive also put these screenies on family and friends phones and cameras, no one come back to yet complaining.
My first windows mobile device was in 2002 and i tried every cover for it. From cheap ones to a couple of the more expensive ones. One of which was the PocketPCTECHS writeshield protector.
I bought the double pack, which came with the Antiglare one, and the Crystal Clear one. I applied the Crystal Clear one and it was amazing... i never used the anti-glare till i got my next device and threw it on that one.
They are very durable, can barely tell they're there and are just amazing...
But for my kaiser, i just ordered the invisibleshield for the entire device so i thought, why not let me try their screen protector out and see how it holds up.
so till i try out the invisibleshield, i'm still recommending pocketpctechs.
Martin Fields. As long as you install it properly (cleaning part is very important), you don't even know it is there.

Registry tweak for screen sensitivity really helps
Think if you using the highe durability thicker screen protectors the increased pressure sensitivity will help alot - am just using the one that came with the TILt on it and it greatly improves tactile feedback and response is almost instantaneous with very minimal pressure
Q: How do I increase the sensitivity of the touch screen?
A: If you want to increase the sensitivity of the touch screen, I recommend setting the registry key (HKLM\Drivers\?TouchPanel\Pressure Threshold) to 5000. It may seem a little high, but the response time is practically instant, and very little pressure required (still enough to avoid accidental presses).
thoughts concerning Martin Fields & Expert Shield protectors
Mine is another vote for the Expert Shield and/or Martin Fields.
Just got it at around seven bucks shipped from eBay. I (prior to this) ordered a Martin Fields and had a difficult time applying it to my Tilt without creating air bubbles. I'm clumsy. and I sneezed half-way through. It's definitely high quality and far better then what shipped with my Tilt. Anyway, I took it into the bathroom and left it to dry so I could attempt to re-apply it later. There, it promptly slipped into the space between the sink cabinet and the tub. Goodbye Martin.
* sigh *
The ES protector seems to be just as good - they're both excellently cut and you can't go wrong with either of them. I don't feel it impairs the screen at all - stylus and finger use ( I use my finger all the time ) are pretty much as it was without the protector. Maybe a tiny touch less sensitive, if you're picky....one can increase sensitivity to compensate. I myself did not find this necessary.
I hope this can be of use to anyone considering the choices. I think a screen protector is a must if you care about your device. I had little regard for my HTC 8125, which lived in my pocket up until last week. The screen held up pretty well, considering it's been to PPC Basra and back. It shared the pocket with my keys, various automotive tools, nuts, bolts, and large quantities of quarters.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I know I've screwed up a few of mine in the past. I have Expert Shield protectors on every device I've owned. Nokia 6820, 6822, E-70, PSP, my girl's Sony-Ericsson w850i, LG Shine, my friend's LG Chocolate and I've never had a problem with them.
I'm glad you enjoy yours as much as I do.

I got the Boxwave Cleartouch Crystal and the Anti-Glare, used both for two weeks and I settles on the Crystal..
I just don't like how the Anti-Glare makes the screen look, the Crystal on the other hand is like having nothing on the screen at all it's perfectly clear and well the Anti-Glare really wasn't Anti-Glare..
both are nice and thick and I didn't have to adjust the sensitivity on my Tilt either to use them
WriteShield
Hi,
Someone can say me if WriteShield Screen Protector fit exactly the screen size of the Kaiser without leaving some screen surface unprotected ? Or which one fit exactly the screen's size ?
Thanks in advance
