So I stumbled across this and just thought to let you know.
Google released a new ADP (Android Development Phone) called the ADP2. ADP1 was basicly a HTC Dream (aka T-Mobile G1).
The new ADP2 is a HTC sapphire, meaning that its the new development tool.
Since the Sapphire is the new development phone does that mean that we will see a Android 2.0 for it?
I mean developers cant develope apps on an outdated Android platform...
Sry for my english I hope this was useful news...

Will Magic also get Android 2.0 from HTC officially?
Given that the newly named ADP2 (Android Developer Phone 2) is basically the Magic, I would expect 2.0 to be available for the Magic shortly.
That is not the same as an official release with Sense layered on top of it from HTC, but I expect that this will happen... reasoning below:
HTC will be releasing a Droid competitor. The easy option is to release a HD2 running Android, which I bet will happen once they move some HD2s, since they don't want to totally kill their Windows Mobile sales and launch splash for the HD2.
They need to be running 2.0 to make this phone competitive, and will likely layer Sense as a distinguisher. Once they have done all this work, releasing it for the Magic and Hero makes sense as it makes for more happy customers.
It probably will get 2.0, but I'm betting it will be the vanilla version and not Sense.
Here's to hoping I'm wrong!

Hero is getting 2.0 with Sense, so after that I don't see what stops HTC making it available for Magic.

Here's hoping you're right! Stock Android is the best UI!
Win Mob 6.5
They already have the HTC HD2 and HTC Diamond 2 to tackle the Droid. Winmo 6.5 is user friendly to mass users and the sales of HTC will not dip in the near future. The HTC HD2 even supports Capacitive touch and outstrips the I-phone in a 1 on 1 battle!

Just got an email from HTC saying that the HTC Magic and Dream on Rogers will both get upgrades which add the HTC Sense user interface. This upgrade will keep Android at version 1.5
Later this year the HTC Magic (NOT the Dream) will get another upgrade which will bring Android up to version 2.1.

Nightmare.
Obviously at the request of robbers...
And further confirms everything I've said about robbers before regarding the DREAM.....
They are TRYING their BEST to make the hardware appear inadequate. Now they are loading it with stupid ugly bloatUI.... rather than upgrading it to the latest system image.
Anyone knows if 32a is getting 2.x? When will it be released......
updates:
With reference to This Thread
The HTC Magic will be upgradable to 2.1 by mid-year.

Yes, by May 2010 we should all have it on our Magic (if HTC keeps up to its promises).
rawr. may seems so far now...
Per this link, it will be June or July by the time it makes it to the public. Maybe it'll leak before that time...

Got this off HTC Singapore Facebook Wall.
Dear XXX, the Hero Upgrade would be in May 2010. For Magic and Tattoo users, there would not be any upgrade. Please call our service hotline at 1800 238 7788 if you have queries. Cheers

What kind of service is this?
And do they know the difference between hero and magic is the camera..
He may have meant the magic 32b, which is not getting an update.
From what I know, Singapore's Magic is 32A... Oh well, hope he's referring to 32Bs...
Can anybody tell what version of sense is this?

This is what has been said: (coming straight from HTC, not from any official channels though, this has been posted on phandroid forums from a HTC rep. This agreement was started between HTC and Rogers)
By mid-year, HTC will issue an upgrade to Android 2.1, including the highly acclaimed HTC Sense experience for the HTC Magic.
However, due to certain limitations on the HTC Dream, the software path for the HTC Dream will be terminated after the next Android 1.5 update. While we regret not being able to offer the same updates to both devices, by bringing this upgrade to the HTC Magic, we are delivering the best solution possible given the situation at hand.
We also want to emphasize that the situation with HTC Dream and HTC Magic devices is true across markets, and is not limited to Canada. While “Google Experience” devices built on the same platform (like the T-Mobile G1) do have different upgrade paths – this is due to the use of a stock Android build, rather than a custom build used on the HTC Dream and HTC Magic.

I wouldn't trust too much on facebook pages or HTC support channels.

There's only one version of Sense for HTC Magic. Sense is just the framework, not the telephone firmware. As of now, officially, there's is only Android 1.5 with HTC Sense. The Android 2.1 release will include an updated version of the Sense user interface.
The picture looks like the theme is modified for the network supplier.

Yes, that's what I meant. I wonder if it's 1.5 or 2.1

Then it's probably 1.5 since 2.1 isn't released yet.
